We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

Marmite you are perfectly entitled to bottle it I thought you were being very brave

Where are all the babies? 40+1 still and waiting...

Had a pregnancy massage today... Lovely Grin

Had mw today all is well. Nipples started leaking a bit this morn so took that as a good sign and after mw appointment my bump went all hard. Mw also mentioned that she was on call tmw so that would be a good day cos I may well get her lol! No pressure then! Fingers crossed that something is happening but don't want anyone to get too cross if I queue jump!

MrGeresHamster · 08/08/2012 19:30

Suzie you are welcome to jump as that would mean we'd have some more actual babies on the thread! I'm hoping the quiet today means that everyone is currently out giving birth...!

NeedlesCuties · 08/08/2012 19:43

Still no baby here, but he/she is welcome to appear anytime they fancy it.

Have been drinking iced Raspberry Leaf Tea, is so much nicer than drinking it as hot tea >blurgh<

Been getting dizzy spells, think it could be because it was so warm today and I've been running round after DS.

Had Consultant appt yesterday - all looks well :) Baby measuring fine, blood pressure etc is good.

DH working almost 60 hours this week :(

Sending lots of chocolate cake etc to you all.

(37+5)

richmondmum84 · 08/08/2012 20:01

Hi all, had a sweep today around 6pm. Didn't hurt but a little more uncomfortable than smear test. Hope it will work for me! Midwife told me to eat pineapple, and go for a walk which I am doing both today. Fingers cross Smile

forgetfulmrs · 08/08/2012 20:03

Evening ladies

Never mind marmite whichever way you decide to go in the end it will work out. Hopefully your mum will realise she needs to change. Your energy is needed for LO nothing else!

Thanks for the cake Needles I could eat non stop at the moment.

I saw the consultant today for a sweep. It was uncomfortable but not painful, he says i'm 2-3cm dilated! I was over the moon, but this is my 2nd pregnancy so I suppose I shouldn't get too excited. Babys head isnt engaged. Off for a bath before checking everything in my hospital bag. We put the baby seat in the car last night, it looks so weird right next to DS's toddler seat!

Vinolover · 08/08/2012 20:05

Still no baby here or any twinges, it would seem I had them all yesterday! He has two days left to be on time or else it looks as though I'm going for a hat trick of late babies which is quite a depressing thought, especially as I really don't know how much more RLT I can cope with! My Mw has assured me I will have a really quick delivery if I keep it up so on her head be it Wink.

We must have some more baby news on here soon to cheer us up :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 08/08/2012 20:20

Ah Love, so sorry to hear about your Mum. Really hope you and DH can either work it out between you what to do, and/or that you can focus on your body and LO and in a horrible way, get on with your life as best you can at the moment. Really sorry and am sending some choccies your way.

Had a super lazy day today and spent a lot of it in bed in my nightie reading and lolling about. Felt really tired and just needed to chill I think. Bump feels very hard and tight but still doesn't seem to have dropped much. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a good evening and manages some sleep in this warm weather. xx

Whiteangel · 08/08/2012 21:14

Nothing happening here still. MW coming at 11am for sweep. Builder also coming to connect pipes for new downstairs loo so hope we are not without water for too long! Just having a cup of RLT now that I've cooled down a bit. Hope I'll have news by this time tomorrow but not holding my breath! 40+6

frillylemons · 08/08/2012 21:27

Well pram arrived Grin I got it delivered to my parents' house and my dad (who was incredibly excited) helped me put it together! It's great! Really light and so easy to put up and down!

I have noticed a lot of BH today. Not painful, just uncomfortable.

Come on August babies...out you come!! We want to sleep on our stomachs play with you and our new prams!

MrGeresHamster · 08/08/2012 21:41

Whiteangel your post made me giggle A LOT there... the image of your midwife and builder being there at the same time 'working' on piping! Hopefully they won't get confused Wink

Going slightly mad here.

tashaw28 · 08/08/2012 21:49

Ha ha know what you mean Mrgere, White I just pictured them swapping jobs!!!
Have the worst back ache today, but high up not low down so don't think it means anything! But only 38+3 so no rush!

capecath · 08/08/2012 22:32

Still here, not in labour... mumble mumble... :( So is it kinda common for 2nd or more babies for you to be dilated for some time? Been almost 36 hours since sweep and consultant said 24-48 hours... getting my hopes up!! She was saying my cervix is very soft and baby well down and engaged. I have been feeling so niggly since then, baby going crazy with activity, super uncomfy and extra loads of discharge. Even seemed to have contractions last night again but still no baby... Really hoping baby arrives before DS's bday Friday, otherwise needs to take a breather and come after Friday!!

frillylemons · 09/08/2012 07:35

I'm only 37+2, but this is getting old now. I'm bored, nay, fed up of being pregnant. Can't sleep, can't eat much, can't walk without pain...argh! I've been awake since 5am and was waking every hour to turn over Angry Mucho frustratingo.

NeedlesCuties · 09/08/2012 07:44

Oh dear me. Had a big attack of vertigo last night - was awful and ended up with me kneeling on living room floor boaking into a basin and peeing myself at the same time! Sooo un-glam :(

Had been a really long day and I was so keen to get a bath once DS was in bed. Had lovely bath, sat down to watch TV before DH got home from work. For some reason pretty much as soon as he got home I started to get dizzy and felt drunk Confused You know that sea-sick feeling where if you close your eyes you can feel the room spin? Well I had that.

DH got his medical kit bag out and gave me a few different meds. Got me to lie on the sofa and gave me a wet flannel to put on my forehead.

Lay there for over an hour but didn't get any better. He was toying with the idea of giving me an injection of cyclizine in my hip (which is the anti-sickness jab I had when I was hospitalised in Jan with hyperemesis) but he decided against it.

I had to pee and wanted to crawl or stagger to the bathroom, but every time I lifted my head further than about an inch off the sofa I got huge dizzy spell :( Ended up wanted to be sick so was sick into the basin, but my pelvic floor isn't what it once was, so I ended up peeing myself.

Finally felt a bit better after that and was able to walk up to bed. But still felt very sweaty, dizzy and ill.

Am bit worried in case I get like that again today when I'm in sole charge of DS. DH working another 12 hour shift today and my family all working too :( :(

So I have no idea what caused it, have never had vertigo in my life, but it is not nice. Not nice at all!!!

MrGeresHamster · 09/08/2012 07:44

40+2 today and still no baby.

Big, Bored, Badtempered.

I can't go out as everything hurts and I feel like the earth is about to fall out of my fanjo I can't socialise as all anybody wants to talk to me about is the non arrival of the baby. as if i need reminding I can't nest, as frankly I can't be arsed...

DH has now got a cold. On one hand I am pissed off with him and on the other hand I am tempted to catch it from him to encourage a sneeze birth.

Think I may spend the day in bed under the covers. Sad

OP posts:
Vinolover · 09/08/2012 08:05

Oh Hamster I feel your pain :( Especially over the nesting! I peeked at the weekend and right now I could no more clean than fly in the air and it's frustrating the hell out of me because it's another 'sign' I don't bloody have!
My mood is just plain miserable and I feel bad because the children want to go places like the park and the beach and I can't take them because I need to pee every 10 minutes and if I don't I'm afraid it will just happen anyway!
Colds don't work either! I have just gotten over a stinker and the only thing I expelled whilst sneezing was urine Blush

Needles that sounds really awful, I hope you're ok! Fingers crossed it was just a one off thing, it must have been really scary :( Could a neighbour maybe help with your ds?

How are you doing now Cape? I had a sweep at 40+2 with my 2nd and wasn't in the least bit favourable but she just about managed it and I went into early labour three days later which was when I had another sweep and I had her that night. I like you thought if it hadn't happened within 48hrs then it had failed but that wasn't the case. All your symptoms sound really promising so I'm hoping you've progressed since last night!

At least we have some nice weather back now :) Maybe this will encourage our babies out!?!?!

fairtradelu · 09/08/2012 08:34

Oh needles that sounds awful. I hope it was a one-off and you feel okay today.

Sorry to hear everyone is getting fed up. I'm only 37+2 so haven't reached the stage of being desperate to have baby out yet. LO has definitely dropped though and I am waddling like a trouper as a consequence.

I went swimming yesterday and that was lovely. Admittedly I didn't do much actual swimming but just being in the pool was such a relief. I'm going for a picnic with my sister today. Unfortunately for me she goes on holiday on sat for two weeks so I may find entertainment a little harder to come by. Expect me to be joining others in being desperate for signs that labour is imminent then!

Re: nesting - I was so looking forward to suddenly wanting to clean and sort house out. Unfortunately that particular symptom appears to have completely passed me by. Now I can't be bothered to make the bed let alone clean out cupboards and scrub floors!

Have a good day everyone and enjoy the sunshine!

susiegrapevine · 09/08/2012 08:39

Hey no baby here either even after dh and I made our best effort in the bedroom last night. Am 38 + 2 today if I make it to saturday I will be more pregnant than I have ever been! As only made it to 38 + 3 last time! Soooo want baby out before then! Did have a few low down pains after and I thought just go to sleep and things may start in the morn. No such luck just woke up needed to pee. Keep getting hard bump then soft again. Am also bored of waiting now.

Still ds is at nursery this afternoon so mum, sis and I are doing grown up stuff like shopping uninterupted by a bored toddler! So yay look forward to that and really need some more nursing bra's but gonna get measured to make sure size hasn't changed but I think they are bigger :( cos clearly 38ff was not big enough!

Oh man coming to quote for our back door today as mum has decided she is going to pay for it, if not too expensive. As part payment for looking after dad's business. I don't get money I get items. So far I have gotten a table and two beds.

susiegrapevine · 09/08/2012 08:45

Oh yeah sorry feel better soon needles sorry got a bit self obsessed there.

fairtrade I never got the nesting thing with my 1st, my mum had to rush back to sort out the house for me while I was in hospital. This time I am better but that's cos I'm having a home birth so I know it has to be in a reasonable state!

Whiteangel · 09/08/2012 09:12

Needles, I'm sure DH thought if this but could it be an ear infection? I've had labrynthitis a few times and it causes vertigo type symptoms. Builder is busy messing with the pipes but thankfully not mine! I have been given permission to use the bathroom as normal which is a relief as I was panicking about the MW not being able to wash her hands or me my bits before she comes! Will let you know how I get on. 41w!

frillylemons · 09/08/2012 09:20

MrGeres and Needles SadSadSad You poor things! It seems like it may be one of those days Angry

Does anyone have any nice plans?

NeedlesCuties · 09/08/2012 09:33

white yeah, my ears are fine. Urine is also fine. DH thinks it was a mix of me being very tired, having a bath which maybe was too hot, and a possible surge of progesteron (not sure if I spelt that right). I have a tendency to get faint when I'm overly tired, have always been like that, although my blood pressure was normal.

Is very handy having a DH who is a doctor with a big medical supply. We have a locked cupboard in our house with all sorts, including morphine (!) for when he does home visits.

I am hoping my hyperemesis hasn't returned - don't think I could cope with that, afterall, I only stopped being sick with it in June! Don't want the bloody thing to reappear this late in the game. Cyclizine is my friend.

Lovemarmite · 09/08/2012 09:43

Hope you don't get any more vertigo needles and you have a good day with your DS. white may be onto something with an ear infection as I had a terrible few months of falling down stairs etc when I lost my water in my ear after an infection. I'm no doctor though and so leave all diagnosis with your DH!

I feel the 'can't be bothered to nest' vibe too. House was taken over by dust two days ago as we had electricians carving through the walls and concrete outside and oh yes, they left doors and windows open and it all flooded in. I was so unimpressed and they got a stroppy 'almost 40 weeks pregnant' lady grabbing things including the moses basket from the room they were in, with me saying ahhhhhh, I wish you'd told me that you're drilling in here. I think I swore outside the room, upshot was we got money taken off for the hassle and the electrician looked very scared at me!
Now the basket is all washed, linen all about to be ironed later and so all fine and we spent that evening cleaning away as much dust as possible. Cupboards, fridge and bits we never usually go to like book cases are still grotty though and I'd hoped that I might have had more intention before I got this big!

Just a little update on my saga yesterday - we did send the email and caused a dust storm with my mum. DH spoke to her last night and of course she tried to turn it around and deny everything and make us feel bad for making her out as a terrible mother. DH is taking no crap from her and asked her how we can all move on in an open and honest relationship. Feel like we needed to do it but it played on my mind all night and so no sleep.

Really hoping LO comes tomorrow now as too tired today! she can come Saturday, Sunday and Monday too but hurry up LO.
39+5

MrGeresHamster don't try and get the cold, sounds too drastic! although a sneeze birth sounds like a quick option!

The3Bears · 09/08/2012 10:22

Glad your feeling better now needles sounds awful :( Hope your okay today.

mrgereshamster Hope baby arrives soon you sound so fed up, it's no fun waiting is it, you should spend the day relaxing and stay in bed all you want.

I have been nesting like a mad woman and still no baby here :( dp has found it hilarious that I have been cleaning non stop and doing silly jobs at 10pm I just cant relax if I havent done it though Grin he is getting mad that I wont just lie there and take it easy though but I feel fine so I cant be over doing things.
Had lots of BH's yesterday and got abit tearful as just found out one of dps relatives who was due after me is having a csection on Mon as her baby is big, It doesnt really bother me but I just kept thinking how frustrated im going to be if im still pregnant then (which I will be unless by some miracle I give birth in the next 4 days) Hmm pregnancy does some funny things to us.

Apart from wanting baby too arrive asap ive been great I really dont feel 39+5 weeks pregnant went shopping all day yesterday, did a big food shop and now feel all ready for if baby decides to arrive anytime going to wash cot bedding today while weathers lovely, do a little gardening and take ds to park.

marmite All your problems with your mum sound terrible let alone when your 40 weeks pregnant, I hope you manage to take your mind of things and have a good sleep.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and I look forward to coming on later and see if any babies are starting to arrive Grin
