We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

I'd just like to announce that baby girl sparkles was born yesterday, on her due date Grin ended up having lots of intervention but should be home tomorrow hopefully Smile completely exhausted and completely besotted Grin

therumoursaretrue · 25/08/2012 12:37

Hi Ladies, delighted to hear about all the new arrivals Grin how amazing does it feel having them here!? Im willing the rest of you on, hopefully not long now.

Noah is 6 days old today and we just got home from hospital yesterday as I ended up being very unwell. He is doing absolutely great though!

I'm making no promises pint about that! But saying that I did manage the pushing stage with no pain relief...I had no choice due to how quickly things happened, so it is do-able. I had an episiotomy and the stitches are starting to really bother me now but that's only in the last day or so when they have started to actually do their job.

pintofmilk · 25/08/2012 13:28

It's been a busy 24/48 hours on here for you ladies.

Congratulations to MrsM 31 hours!! You deserve a medal, hope you have managed some rest since!

Congrats also to red&yellow, Miaboo and Sparkles

Signet any pains are a positive sign. I had bum pain with my second before I went into labour, so fingers crossed.

Rumours glad Noah is ok but sorry to hear you have been in hospital for soo long. Hope the stiches heal soon. Sounds very oouch.

I am 40+6 today and still waiting for something to happen. Went back to bed this morning and said to DP that this would be our last Saturday morning lie in as if nothing happens will be induced at end of next week. eeek, exciting

Nightfall1983 · 25/08/2012 16:36

DUE DATE!!

I feel so excited Grin though in reality it's been a fairly normal day, doing a bit of spring cleaning making sure the house is up-to-scratch for all the visitors we're expecting once baby gets here. No symptoms what so ever, unless baby doing massive movements is a symptom? I've still never had a braxton-hicks or any kind of contraction so have no idea what that will feel like!!

geekette · 25/08/2012 18:59

Baby geek was born Thursday the 23rd two days after due date on pethidine and gas and air. I did need a few stitches.

We got home yesterday.

Labour dust to all those left. Hang in there. We are all on the home straight!

NeedlesCuties · 25/08/2012 19:36

I've been kept very busy doing this list over the past few months, have enjoyed it! I won't have internet access when I go into hospital to have LO (whenever that may be!) so the list might go a bit quiet when I'm in.

Quite a few of the mums are still on the list because I'm unsure whether to delete them or not... so I just left them there.

THOSE STILL ON THE WONDERFUL DUE-IN-AUGUST LIST

frillylemons · 26/08/2012 06:11

Can't sleeeeeeeeeeep! I've been awake almost an hour now Angry Seagulls and giant bump are to blame. Sigh.

Who is still left to pop?

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/08/2012 07:38

Hello! Realise have still not properly caught up with birth story etc but still in hospital but going home this morning. Baby Edward is doing grand but taking some time to settle after birth. We'll get there but it's been ab emotional few days for us all.
Hope you're all ok and am loving reading about all the other babies joining mine in the world! X

fairtradelu · 26/08/2012 08:49

Me frilly! Still no show, no waters and am averaging one contraction every three days at mo! Unlike last two days I've got a full schedule for today so maybe something will happen. Or not...

39+5

pintofmilk · 26/08/2012 13:46

Frilly I'm still waiting too......

Trying to keep busy and not think about it too much despite the annoying calls/texts that still come morning, noon and night.

Kitchen cupboards all cleaned out, shower scrubbed, washing basket empty......what next, clean school shoes for 5th September? Desparate times....

41 weeks today

justine09x · 26/08/2012 14:11

I'm still waiting toooooo........its our first wedding anniversary tommorrow so maybe she will pop along then...I live in hope!!!! Xx

Nightfall1983 · 26/08/2012 15:22

Also waiting but fairly patiently at the moment. Enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

So for those of us still waiting: what are you most looking forwards to being able to do again once you are not pregnant any more? Is it the booze, the rare steak, horse-riding? For me it is lying and sleeping on my back and on my front again - can't wait!!!

justine09x · 26/08/2012 16:15

defoo looking forward to the sleep, they tell you that you don't get any sleep with a newborn, but thats rubbish I just sleep when they do and your not pregnant any more so no more tossing and turning arrrrr it will be bliss!!!

I'm not a big drinker so not too bothered about that and I flout the advice about rare steak and prawns etc so ive carried on eating throughout lol.

I'm looking forward to being able to run for the bus and walk more than a few yards without looking like daffy duck!! xx

justine09x · 26/08/2012 16:19

scratch that I won't have to run for the bus because i'll be able to drive again!!! i'm only 5 foot and my belly has made it impossible for me to reach the pedals Grin

Nightfall1983 · 26/08/2012 17:02

justine I agree, people give me odd looks when I tell them that I'm looking forwards to sleeping once the baby gets here but at least I'll be comfortable when I do manage to catch a few winks...

I also don't miss the drink, I didn't drink for a year whilst TTC, haven't touched a drop in 9 months and am not planning on drinking whilst breast feeding so not really an issue - I do miss the steak though. I like it bloody and whilst realistically I don't believe there is any risk I haven't had it just in case. Ooh and sushi, dying for some proper sushi!!

NeedlesCuties · 26/08/2012 17:17

good question Nightfall...

I'm looking forward to being able to wear whatever in my wardrobe I want, and also I'm really looking forward to being able to have missionary position sex with DH again Blush bump has made that impossible in the past few weeks.

(40+2)

Ambi · 26/08/2012 21:45

It's the v simple things I miss, like being able to pick something off the floor!! Painting my toenails, getting in and out of the car (and off the sofa) with a little bit more grace, not weeing every 5 mins, being able to reach the window above thekitchen sink.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 26/08/2012 22:10

I can't believe it's taken me so long to get to post but my little boy was born just over two weeks early in the morning of the 15th of August. 7 hours from first contraction to his arrival in the birthing pool at the Royal Surrey - lucky me! He weighed 6lbs 1oz but has already put on a pound!

His big sister is thrilled at his arrival but taking some adjusting to being a sibling as opposed to the número uno in our household.

Good luck and best wishes to those awaiting their arrivals.

fairtradelu · 27/08/2012 09:01

Congratulations!

Good question nightfall. I never thought I'd say this but I am most looking forward to just being able to run again - not necessarily going on runs, just the ability to move in an athletic manner! Oh and to eat soft French cheese and to sleep without the pain of having to turn over. I truly can't wait.

Well it is due date tomorrow and I am back to feeling this baby isn't coming out anytime soon. I have been advIsed by SIL to just enjoy last few days of it just being us which is probably good advice but I really am done appreciating time without baby now! However, I am going to try not to think of the possibility of baby coming at any moment for a few days and even try to convince myself it would be better if it came on Sat (1st sept) for schooling purposes and all that. In truth, I want it now but I reckon it is waiting to catch me unawares so I need a change in tact!

Nightfall1983 · 27/08/2012 10:26

fairtrade totally with you on the September thing. We've always been hoping for a September baby - we were originally TTC an autumn baby but it took about 11 months longer than planned... Sempember 1st I'll be 41 weeks and it's really helped me not to get too frustrated or bored waiting knowing that I really want baby to hold on till 41 weeks - not that I'd actually be upset if he/she came today!! I definitely don't feel like anything is imminent, I'd be very surprised to go into labour in the next few days - in fact I'm starting to expect to be induced on 5th Sept...

susiegrapevine · 27/08/2012 12:59

hey everyone just popped back to say congrats on all the births and that jacob and i are doing great in fact even tho babies are suppose to loose weight in the 1st week the midwife came today to weigh him and he has gained 1.5oz!!!

Anyway thought i would share my positive homebirth story with all those still waiting to give you ladies all a positive outlook on the impending labour.

Well woke up at 2 with a niggle like when you get period pains so got up went for a wee and thought i would take some paracetamol andd try to sleep cos as it was my due date this definately was not labour and was just one of those pains. So laid back down and was like ok this feel like contractions so tried to time them, they were coming about every five mins but was difficult and uncomfy lying down so got up grabed my phone for the stop watch facility and started to pace the living room and time them.

Yes they were coming about every 5 mins or so, so i thought hmm better wake dh as 1st baby was a less than 5hr labour so woke him about half 2 and he said what signs have you got which was a bit of a silly question. He called labour ward who asked how frequent and how strong contractions were and if it was 1st baby so info given and specified that my 1st labour was quick so they said they would call the on call midwife who would ring and then come out.

So she rang to check where we were and told her to ring when she was outside so she did not disturb my son. She got here and asked if i would like to be examined i said not yet all was fine. So i continued to labour with tens machine that dh had put on after i rang the midwife. Basically we sat around and chatted inbetween contractions and dh was on tea and coffee duties. The 2nd midwife appeared at some point with gas and air but forgot oxygen for the baby so had to run back for that but she had time. In the mean time contractions were getting stronger and longer

At 6 dh rang my parents to get them up as we knew ds would be rousing soon. They arrived just after 7 to collect him he was waking and birth did not look immenent so dh got him up and did the handover to the grandparents while i was examined and was 6 to 7cm so all looking good and i started on the gas and air.

Anyway at some point contractions appear to slow but kept drinking energy drink and dh got me some toast and the midwives some biscuits to keep us all going.

A little while later we all sensed delivery was immenent as contractions really really strong so they put down the towels and shower curtain at the end of the bed as i had decided i wanted to kneel on the floor over the end of the bed.

Waters broke at about 10 to 10am and then the pain got really intense and the midwives started coxing me to push and i turned a bit crazy saying i couldn't do it and tried to put my legs together! But all was well and after a couple of pushes babies head was out then a bit of gentle pushing and a couple more body was free and baby had arrived all pink and screaming and perfect. Born at 10.06 exactly the same time as his brother!

Did a natural 3rd stage placenta appeared 20 mins later. So before this i cuddled baby and then handed him to daddy to push placenta out.

Then after the midwives had cleaned me up with some baby wipes they tucked me up in bed with baby it was bliss.

No tears or stitches or anything.

Sending labour dust to all you ladies

justine09x · 27/08/2012 13:30

What a lovely hb story suzie I'm hoping I don't go over and end up being induced I want my hb it's also reassuring u weren't so quick as the first!!

I'm the other way round ladies I have two September babies already and I really want an August baby but I'm slowly running out of time!!!

Lovemarmite · 27/08/2012 13:36

Yeah, she finally arrived yesterday at 14.30, 8lb 5oz, 14 hours labour and in the end, had to have an emergency c-s. So glad she's here, was 42+2 and definitely ready! Trying to make our minds up for her name but first trying to get some sleep. Hope everyone's well and for everyone waiting, just hang on in there, it won't be long now! X
