We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

Yet another arrival to add. Baby Anna was born yesterday morning (16/8) by emergency section. 7lb 5oz. We are both doing fine. Will hopefully get out of hospital tomorrow :)
Congratulations to all the other new mummies x

woopsidaisy · 17/08/2012 18:12

Hi all. Great to hear of all the new arrivals and birth stories.
Poor you Lovemarmite, I have suffered with massive feet and calves this pregnancy, so I can sympathise. But I agree to get them checked out, just in case.
I am 40+ 9 today. Was due to go in for induction today, but have put it off until Sunday. Don't think it will make any difference though, absolutely NO SIGN of anything happening. Ah well.

woopsidaisy · 17/08/2012 18:19

Congrats Nel! Thanks

Sorry for the delay. Rowan Elliot Stanley was born by emergency c section on 15 th at 8:30pm weighing 8lb 10. Birth plan out of the window but medical care was amazing and we are recovering at the MLU now. More details when I don't have a sleeping baby on my chest! Xx

susiegrapevine · 17/08/2012 20:52

Congrats weekipper nel and whiteangel amazing how many have been born in the last few days.

marmite it has been very hot today so its prob just that. Still better to be safe.

Had a lovely day took ds to the park and then the beach for an ice cream. Then back to my mum's to run around naked in and out of paddling pool (ds not me!).

Went to the hospital to see my grandad who now has a chest drain and will be in at least until monday. Still he is cheerful and up and about in the hospital.

Came back home and had small trauma thinking I lost the back door key! Turns out I put it on the wrong hook doh!

Pigged out on bbq in the garden and had lovely chats with dh while ds played.

All in all a great day. Now to try not to dwell on the fact I still have no baby!

MrGeresHamster · 17/08/2012 22:47

Having contractions here... there really is no mistaking them when they come! Going to bed now to see how long I can last before hospital. Tens machine firmly attached but waters still intact.

Labour dust worked... Wink

WOW, can't believe how many of you ladies have popped already. Congratulations to everyone, would have lost track but thanks to Needles for keeping the list soo up to date-where do you find the time? Have a Wine!

Hamster glad the dust is working for you, sending fast labour vibes to you. Hope you manage to get a bit of rest before the main event! Good luck Smile

Send some dust my way please.....

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/08/2012 07:06

MrHamster good luck good luck! Hope it's all going really well for you by the time you read this! This thread is so eciting now!

I slept badly, still have cramps and back ache, feel sick and just had (TMI alert) gross bloody blob in loo. DH bless him is very edgy and desperate to see baby now! I'm just feeling nervous about giving birth and baby being ok etc. Now up with tea and a terrible US detective novel I found for 20p for Kindle!! Super cheesy but hilarious reading which is keeping us amused if read out loud in dodgy US cop accent Grin.

Labour dust my way please and good luck ladies! xx

The3Bears · 18/08/2012 10:17

Wow lots of babies arriving now Grin Good luck mrgereshamster

Well after going for my midwife appt on Weds I was already 2-3 cms and cervix fully effaced. I was having regular tightenings since the day before which I thought were braxton hicks they felt more powerful and I said to dp that it felt like they were doing something but I didnt want to get my hopes up. Anyway midwife went ahead with sweep and said it could stretch to 4cm, after that she checked babies heartbeat and it was irregular so she sent me for monitoring at triage. After an hour there (everything was fine with LO) and more frequent tightenings I was sent home so I had my tea, checked hospital bag and just got on with things as the contractions were still bearable then and 7-10 mins apart.
I went to bed and managed to sleep for about 3 hours til about 2.30am when they felt alot stronger and were now every 5 mins, so I had paracetamol and a long bath which was lovely :) at about 5.30 they were every 3 mins apart and really began to hurt I also felt very sick and shakey so I woke dp and got back in bath for a bit. At 7.30 I rang hospital and they said to come in well they checked but as I was coping with the pains I might be sent back home, my mum came round to watch ds and we set of for hospital.
I was examined and to everyones surprise I was 7-8cms already and we were the first ones there that morning so got to choose any room we wanted. I had a lovely Midwife who was v supportive and I got in the birth pool at around 9.30-10am which was great and really helped, I started to have some gas and air at about 10.15 as they were really strong by that point and I could feel alot of pressure but my waters still hadnt gone, at 10.45 midwife could see waters and babies head so she felt around the head and they broke and after some very painful pushes with no gas and air as it was distracting me from pushing at 11.16am Noah was born Grin I got to hold him in the water straight away and it was amazing. I cannot reccomend a water birth enough it was just so great and your just left to get on with it while the midwife just keeps an eye on you.
It all felt so different from ds1's birth 5 years ago so much more relaxed and in control and I have been on such a high from it ever since, I even said after I could do it all over again Grin

tashaw28 · 18/08/2012 10:43

Wow sounds perfect 3bears well done to you!
And good luck mrgere, am so jealous, still pregnant here and no signs if anything happening ever at this rate!
It's so hot here today I'm slightly worried my ankles may explode, and I ave to suffer a BBQ at in laws, booooooo. Not a happy bunny today.

hamncheese · 18/08/2012 10:45

Wow bears what a brilliant birth! And he is just adorable :) do you think that the water birth was especially good as it was your second? I missed out on the water but would be keen second time around... As long as baby wasn't back to back again!!

Contrats on all the births can't wait to see you all on the postnatal thread! And good luck to those in labour or about to go into it!

Lovemarmite · 18/08/2012 10:46

3bears lovely to hear your birth story, sounded like a positive experience and it really helps to hear a good one, thank you for sharing!

Congratulations white beautiful name and great to hear you're both doing well.

Hope all is going well MrGeres
*MrsMiggins' it sounds very positive x

41weeks today and look it! Feet nicely puffed up already although they had gone down in the night. It's meant to be 28 degrees today and so may go to bed in the afternoon to get the feet up! Hot curry later, operation eviction done and bouncing on ball, please send some labour dust to me!

susiegrapevine · 18/08/2012 10:54

Omg 3bears he is beautiful. Makes me want mine even more. Come on baby where are you.

tashaw I know what you mean about the weather was soooo hot yesterday and mean't to be hotter today. Am gonna spend the whole day in the garden I think well need to do a couple of jobs in the house.

Signet2012 · 18/08/2012 11:12

Oo all these lovely babies !!! Congrats to all the new mums!

Nothing much to report here brother back to normal thankfully. No signs of any impending labour but I did nearly do myself a mischief trying to tidy up "downstairs" cue lots of blood and a concerned dp insisting I lay on the bed and let him see. Blush. All fine though may book myself in for a wax instead Grin

justine09x · 18/08/2012 12:19

Oh my gosh 3bears he is adorable!!!

Yay good luck hamster you are all going to leave for the postnatal thread and I'll be here on my own lol :(

Wow u are all popping all over the place, my turn me me me!! Xxx

The3Bears · 18/08/2012 12:22

Thank you everyone sorry it was such a long post but I thought it would be nice for those of you still waiting to hear a positive birth story :) It really is so worth it.

Maybe ham the midwife said the pushing stage would be alot shorter as he was my 2nd, not sure if thats because you know what to do etc but im sure it would be lovely for you to have one with your 2nd, I was so much more calmer this time around aswell and not panicing as much. I will go on the postnatal thread aswell today as not had a look yet. Hope your all doing well with family life :)

Hope lots of other babies arrive soon x

Ambi · 18/08/2012 12:28

Signet- I need a tidy but know it's likely to be a bloodbath too! Got a wax booked on Weds with a pedicure Wink. I can't reach my toes either.

Wow 3bears, I really want a water birth this time but our hospital only has 1 pool so it's first come first served. Sounds like it's a fairly relaxing birth.

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/08/2012 12:32

3Bears, so many congratulations and lovely to hear your story. I'm aiming for water too, but remains to be seen if I give birth in the pool or out of it. I'm worried I'll drop the baby in the water somehow...eek!

Still feeling sick and tired and generally bit off. Warm and humid here and am generally mooching about on the sofa. Need to get out and about for a walk etc later I think. Have a good day all and hope not too hot and awful down south xx

Nightfall1983 · 18/08/2012 12:43

Aww that's a lovely story 3bears, and beautiful pics - congratulations!!

I'm also hoping (really really hoping) for a water birth, but my hospital (same as you Ambi) only has one and it's first come first served so we'll have to wait and see.

I'm feeling pretty good today, managed to do my hair, nails (even did my own toe nails!) and have a MAJOR (and long overdue) tidy-up down below. Was awkward and I felt knackered afterwards but I got it done and feel fresh and clean now :-)

Signet2012 · 18/08/2012 12:44

It was all going well until I tried to put leg on side of bath and lift bump and blindly find the correct area ha ! Once dp was sure I hadnt sliced any major veins he informed me I had done a shite job anyway and looked like a pie bald pony and offered to sort it out Blush don't feel ready for that quite yet Grin

I'm ten days away from due date and starting to get nervous now but some good birth stories on here are setting my kind to rest a bit. I think I would be happier knowing what to expect but no doubt I will find out soon enough Grin

susiegrapevine · 18/08/2012 16:51

signet you should do what I do or would if I could be bothered. Get and electric razor and a mirror and sit on the bed and do it with something underneath so no hairs on the sheets. No risk of injury from blades or falling over in the tub then. Or just book a wax.

Not suffering too much in the heat here as my garden is well shaded thank god. Put ds's slide into a cheap paddling pool. He loved it!

capecath · 18/08/2012 19:57

3bears aw great story. And good name!! :) Glad you managed it in the water! I didn't quite, but needed intervention, but that was also ok - the hour I had in the birthing pool worked wonders and would also recommend that to anyone.

tashaw28 · 19/08/2012 06:11

Been awake since 5, anyone with me? Due date today, never thought I'd make it this far. Tired, depressed and just want thus thing out nowSadsweep tomorrow morning but even that seems too far away. Hurry baby.

NeedlesCuties · 19/08/2012 07:22

Morning tashaw (and everyone else).

I know 100% how you feel! I just want this baby to come now, please!!! Am only 39+2, but I had DS at 39 weeks, so I already feel overdue and already people are getting on my nerves by texting, emailing and asking if baby has come yet Hmm
