We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

Frilly I'm having a lot of back pain and I'm about 3-4cm dilated so may be the start of something for you.

fairtradelu · 16/08/2012 08:59

Wow, baby boom! Congratulations to all those who have popped and good luck to those who are about to!

No news here. I've decided to go to the Lake District for two days this weekend at 38+4 so am hoping LO doesn't make a sudden appearance over the next few days! I was umming and ahing about going but now I've made the decision I can't wait to have a change of scenery and some fresh air, even though it's only a couple of days. Maybe it'll even prompt LO into action cos at the mo there is no sign of anything happening at all!

susiegrapevine · 16/08/2012 09:09

No news here either :( think he is far too comfy in there and has now moved a bit higher up thank god dunno if I could have gone another day with that! But did think he might make an appearance instead of going back up. Never mind me and my mum are doing a mammoth spring clean this afternoon while ds is at nursery.

Lovemarmite · 16/08/2012 09:36

Oooo wow congratulations eighties capecath and minky to your new arrivals! yeah!!! Wine

Hope all is progressing well 3bears and rumours
and it goes really well for you forgetful

Sounds like there's some more good news coming in soon x

Lovemarmite · 16/08/2012 09:47

fairtrade sounds like a great plan to get some lovely fresh air in the lakes!
susie my LO is way too comfie too and not making an appearance obviously. I think she's going to be fashionably late!
40+5

I'm seeing a registrar at the hospital this afternoon to see if cs is better for me instead of an induction due to my skin scarring condition. Kind of hoping for a date next week but to go into natural labour before then and just go with it.

I felt I was really approaching some positive labour feelings last week but after all the family stress, they have all disappeared. Unfortunately my family stress resurfaced last night which I am trying to ignore but I can't relax away from it easily. Ahhh pants!

NeedlesCuties · 16/08/2012 10:11

Right, can anyone shed some light for me?

This is DC2 and all the way through this pregnancy has been different (more difficult than DS's). Now I'm 38+6 and getting a definite pain inside my cervix Confused Is almost like I can feel that it is thinning/ dilating. I never remember that pain when pregnant with DS until I was standing in hospital clinging onto a canister of gas&air in established labour.

Has anyone else (specifically 2nd timers) felt that recently?

Is worrying me a bit as DH is at work until 8pm and I'm here with DS. Have neighbours phone number at hand if I need it quickly.

It hurts badly when I stand up, makes me need to lean against something and I can only walk in tiny steps.

No contractions and waters still where they should be. Had a bit of a show this morning, but it was more runny than lumpy, IYSWIM.

Advice please!

MrsMigginslovespies · 16/08/2012 10:22

What lovely baby news to wake up to! So many babies yesterday (am jealous as was trying to go on my dad's birthday!). Really thrilling to read and hope you're all doing fine. Many many congratulations to you all and am sending flowers and choices.
No news at all from my end, and suspect that baby has settled down again after the excitement of the other night. Might go swimming again later and just take things as they come. Dh bit edgy today as he's got some school stuff on his mind, as well as the LO too.

Needles, if it t'were me, I'd give the me a ring and let her know how you feel. I went in the other night because of my weird stitch thing and they were very helpful and kind. See what she says, as they're there to help. Good luck.

Off to get Internet or laptop fixed as am currently on iPad and making tons of mistakes! Hugs to all the babies! Xx

Lovemarmite · 16/08/2012 10:36

Hi Needles
I would call your mw asap as they'd want to hear from you.
Although I'm a first timer, I've had a very similar thing for a few weeks and mentioned it to the delivery mw on Sunday as it was really bad and I couldn't walk well. Strangely I get it a lot but mostly in the mornings.
She said that LO was maybe pressing her hand on my cervix and when she rotates her head slightly it also feels like a deep pain on the cervix. This is only my experience and so I would call your mw and she may want to see you to check all is okay.

NeedlesCuties · 16/08/2012 11:34

Thanks marmite I rang hospital a few mins ago as I was fretful.

Have been leaning up against things and DS has been coming over to give me a kiss and say, "Kiss mummy better!" which is sweet, but feel bad for him seeing me in pain :(

Went for a pee and heard like a 'pop' sound! But didn't notice any gush (apart from pee!).

Hospital said to keep an eye out for any leaks or wetness and to time the pains.

Thing I was worried about is I have Group B Strep and will need to be in hospital around an hour after start of labour in order to get IV anti-b's. Just trying to make sure I have everything ready to run if I need, and need to make sure someone can help with DS.

Ahh, the stresses!

MrsMigginslovespies · 16/08/2012 12:13

Needles, glad you rang them! Good for peace of mind and hope this helped a bit? Take care and let us know! x

Lovemarmite · 16/08/2012 12:56

Do you think the pop sound was your waters? Sounds promising
Hope all is going well... your DS sounds really lovely x Let us know how you get on when you can!

NeedlesCuties · 16/08/2012 14:05

My body is teasing me :(

Pains subsided. Still a bit crampy and 'off' feeling, but not definite contraction pains like before. Midwife told me to put on a pad so I could tell if waters were coming away. It's a tiny bit damp, but no more than how it would be generally.

shakes fist at the sky in rage

capecath · 16/08/2012 16:00

ishop was the kiwi suction cup?? I hadn't heard of it before! Apparently according the midwife I look like I've been kicked by a horse down there, haha. Stitches have been a bit painful but not a disaster. Expanded hemoroid more uncomfy. DH said he couldn't believe they actually cut me with scissors! Thanks, I am taking it as easy as possible and enjoying painkillers :)

Noah being a star. Sleeping loads and sucking like a trooper.

For those who are wondering about waters breaking, when they broke mine, it was really warm and there was tons of it which I couldn't control, so for me at least there was no mistaking what it was, even though it was done for me. forgetful I certainly didn't need anything else after that to get things going! Contractions started within 30 mins of it.

lynniegooner · 16/08/2012 16:22

Another baby to report - our little girl born on Tuesday at 5.55am....in the ambulance! Was having contractions all day Monday, but mild ones and 10 - 15 minutes apart. During the early hours of Tuesday they got stronger and were coming 5 minutes apart and lasting 20 seconds so I called my hospital and they advised me to stay home until they were stronger and longer!!! DH not very happy with this so I rang back and said I had ordered a taxi and would be there in 20 minutes. Amazingly they were still advising me that I should wait a while before coming to the hospital!! While waiting for the taxi I had an enormous, painful long contraction and I could feel the head coming out! Rang an ambulance as thought might get here before the taxi but just at this point the taxi arrived. Went out side and had another contraction in the street and I could definitely feel that the head was there!! Luckily ambulance arrived just then (taxi driver was happy to see them!) and I just about managed to get in and on the couch before the next contraction and whooooosh!!!! baby came gushing out with my waters and it was all over!!!!!! Baby Lucia born outside my house in a stationary ambulance!!
Home now and all fine - apart from some very traumatised neighbours to deal with!!!

geekette · 16/08/2012 16:29

Oh my! Congrats Lynnie! Yay! A girl for the thread! And Wow, your hospital really misjudged that one!

We are popping! we are popping!

Lovemarmite · 16/08/2012 16:35

lynnie wow what a delivery! would love to think it was very quick and easy but it sounds as though it was a lot to go through! Well done in getting the ambulance and I'd love to have seen the taxi man's face!
Congratulations, yeah! Wine

fairtradelu · 16/08/2012 16:43

Lynnie, what an amazing story! Does that mean your LO was born in the waters? My DM says my family have a history of having super strong waters that don't break by themselves so have started wondering what that would be like. Congratulations anyway and well done for coping so well in the circumstances!!!

The3Bears · 16/08/2012 19:15

Well I had my little boy at 11.16am this morning he is called Noah and was 8lb 3oz , back home now will do a birth story after when we've had a bit of rest went perfectly though :) He's gorgeous and we're all in love with him so, so much x Hope everyones well x

Ambi · 16/08/2012 20:09

Congratulations 3bears and Lynnie. Xx Thanks

PictureThis · 16/08/2012 20:45

Oh my god all these babies making an appearance in the last 48 hours, what an eventful week!!! Congratulations to all of you.

Needles, hopefully your cervix is effacing so all this discomfort will be worth it.

forgetfulmrs · 16/08/2012 21:05

Hello ladies and congratulations new mummy's. well things progressed pretty quick after .having my waters broken this morning. Baby girl Darcey was born at 4:03pm weighing 10lb and half an ounce! I'm still on a high, staying in hospital overnight so i can get breastfeeding established.

wow lynnie what an amazing story to be able to tell although a bit traumatic at the time i bet Smile

tashaw28 · 16/08/2012 22:02

Oh my word, can't believe I've missed all these babies!! Congratulations to you all, I'm so jealous, still no movements here, and I know I'm only 39+4 but this is the furthest I've ever made it in a pregnancy so I really expected it to have happened by now!!!
Feeling very fed up and bored, poor kids are bored too as didn't make any arrangements past yesterday just in case!!!
