We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

That's really exciting white. Try and walk around as much as you possibly can. I really think that had a lot to do with me dilating so quickly! My contractions were in my pelvis and lower back too and the pain was searing :(, it's all good signs though.

Fantastic you have lost your plug marmite :) , it really won't be long now and your LO will be here to join us all. Maybe she's seen the weather forecast Wink.

Thank you to everyone with your well wishes! William has settled in beautifully and I just feel like I could burst every time I look at him, he really is just perfect :). He's feeding really well at the moment and I think I'm doing it right but we're both learning as we go along. I seem to be recovering ok too which is good and meant I was able to take him out in the pram today whilst my dh took the children up the cinema.

Fingers crossed lots more babies are born this week!

justine09x · 14/08/2012 17:55

Back from hospital apparently my ferritin sp? Levels were low and my iron is 11 so consultant said its fine to have homebirth an shouldn't of been told I couldn't, when I relayed my fears she said no induction and if u think you are going to be quick then come in as quick as u can (easier said than done with 2 Dcs and a mil over 30 mins away) got a bit annoyed with them feel they shouldn't ring me up refusing my hb and get me all panicking for nothing and feel I dont have options as yet again been told u will have to ring paramedics because midwife won't get there in time anyway!!! Grrrr so frustrating wish I had longer labours and could have a choice like other women but feel they just brush me aside.

Anyway sounds as if u are all coming along nicely!! So excited to see babies arriving :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 14/08/2012 18:06

Lovely news Vino!

Also have a very sore stitch like feeling all across bump but esp on right. Went for long walk today so could I have overdone it? Or is it A SIGN?!!

Just wondered if you've read this thread on chat? I thought v good: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1539713-An-excellent-piece-by-Jason-Manford-about-Gary-Barlow-and-internet-trolling?msgid=33538993#33538993

Well my boy is here. Thomas Michael William was born at 04.55 hours this morning after just under an hour of active labour and no stitches, just a small graze. He weighed in at 8lbs 1 oz, is long and has heaps of dark brown hair. The gel was enough to do the trick, didn't need a drip as membranes went all by themselves and contractions were every 2-3 minutes. It was so fast it was overwhelming if I'm honest but my boy is truly gorgeous, totally worth it and we are all bowled over by him.

MrGeresHamster · 14/08/2012 18:11

Yeay that is wonderful news Picture! Congratulations!

Wow sounds like a great labour, congratulations picture :)

Ive been feeling v funny all day, had no appetite, felt abit shakey and alot of BH's and pressure low down. Had achey pains all over bump too. Hoping it's the start of something but not too sure will just have to wait and see.

Hope everyone else is well will read through all posts later as busy with ds now :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 14/08/2012 18:27

Am so happy for you Picture! Congratulations, such wonderful news! X

littlelamb1980 · 14/08/2012 18:31

Hi ladies, I've been meaning to post for ages and say congrats to everyone who has had their lovely babies but keep falling asleep after reading posts at night!
Well I gave birth to my little boy Thomas William Littlelamb, 8lbs on 7 August, the day after his due date. I stayed at home until contractions 4 mins apart and at hospital I was 5cm dilated so asked to go into the birthing pool which was lovely. I was convinced things were moving on but 3 hours later I was only 6cms and the pain was really bad so I asked for an epidural. Things were much calmer after that and upon further examination the male midwife told me baby was back to back hence the pain being worse and the labour slow going. In the end I could get no further than 9cm dilated as baby was in an awkward position so after a 24 hour labour I had to have an emergency c-section. Bit traumatic and tiring but end result was my beautiful baby so that's the main thing.
Have had a bit of trouble breast feeding as he struggles to latch on but things are getting better. I still can't believe I have baby, it's such an amazing experience Grin.
Good luck to all you ladies waiting to give birth, hope it all happens for you soon!
X

Lovemarmite · 14/08/2012 19:08

Yah, hay, hay, congratulations littlelamb and picture! Fantastic! more boys, great names too x Wine

white hope all is happening and all is good with you x
MrsMiggins hope it's going well for you too!
3bears oooo, sounds promising!

Justine great to hear things are getting more sorted.

I think I should be more active as I've been sitting down for most of the day but I've just got up and had lots of tightenings and a few sharp pains (although I think LO is moving, tummy went really hard with pains from back to front).

Great to hear you're home and things are going well vino

Sounds like there's some good things happening to us now Smile

susiegrapevine · 14/08/2012 19:35

Congrats littlelamb and picture yay more babies.

Don't feel like anything is ever going to happen here labour wise. Feel like I'm gonna go over and be made to go to hospital for induction when I was sooooo looking forward to my home birth.

justine do you live far from the hospital surely if you call the midwife out at the 1st twinge she will get there on time??

Anyway looking positivley - spent all my 2ps at the arcade and had a lovely ice cream. Turned out to be such a lovely afternoon/evening we also had a lovely bbq in the garden. Would still be out there now if I wasn't too achey to sit in the garden chairs.

eightieshopaholic · 14/08/2012 20:03

Congrats Picture

Well lost my plug this morning and getting globby lumps when go to toilet sorry tmi!! and been having contractions since 11 am but really irregular then started every 4 mins apart this evening, called hospital told to wait till 4-5 mins apart and lasting 30-40 secs and to call back now there irregular again!! please hurry up!!! have my consultant apt tom so hopefully wont need!! 40+2 today

Congrats picture and lamb feel free to pop over to our post natal august thread to join in discussions on lack of sleep, sore nipples, baby cuddles and recovering post labour!

Just painted my finger and toe nails after 2.5 weeks yayyyy (couldn't have them painted for labour as oxygen levels were measured through my nails apparently)

needles was going to say what mrsm said re paternity leave. Think your dh's employer is trying it on!

Congrats on the plugs going too ladies, hopef not much longer for you now!

susiegrapevine · 14/08/2012 22:16

Just watched the midwives program - come on baby I really really wanna meet you now!!

tumblebug · 14/08/2012 23:10

Picture and lamb congratulations! Sounds like there are a few more on the way, good luck everyone, really enjoying hearing about the new arrivals!

Needles thanks for adding me to the list, forgot to say I'm 34 (same as my due date buddies sc0ttishlass and firstfroggy!!).

MrsMiggins I looked at that thread - really made me cry, beautiful blog.

No news here. At this stage with DS I was in proper labour. Oh well, in some ways hoping everything is different about this delivery. I think I always expected it to be this week, because that's when I had DS and when elective CS would be, but glad I'm trying the VBAC. DMIL has been here for a couple of days, has gone home now. Enjoying a quiet evening to myself, although really appreciaate her help with DS (and have had 2 lie-ins and actually had some rest). DM is coming to stay at the weekend as our local friends are going away and need someone to look after DS at very short notice. I hope she isn't waiting too long before baby arrives!

39+1, back up CS booked at 41+3 so no more than 16 days left!!

justine09x · 15/08/2012 00:28

I'm not too far away suzie just got annoyed as they made me panic over nothing, after a good cry I was fine and back to looking forward to homebirth, they can bugger off and leave me alone until I give birth lol :)

Congrats picture and lamb lovely to hear about babies:) hopefully have more baby news tommorro there's a lot going on here and plugs being lost left right and centre lol good luck ladies Grin

woopsidaisy · 15/08/2012 07:21

Morning Ladies. I feel great this morning, as I slept so well. I fell asleep sitting up in bed-DH discovered me,Grin. And slept right through until 6am!! Excepting 2xloo trips, but have ensuite so not too far!
That must be 7 hours sleep!!

I felt really washed out yesterday, and quite teary, so think I really needed that sleep.

Big congrats to picture and lamb. I love all the names too. Lamb, apparently boys "forget" how to latch on, it took about 6 weeks for DS2 to completely "get" it. A tip I found worked was to give him my little finger, soft part upwards in his mouth. Let him suck on that then quickly whip it out and onto boob. Obviously make sure hands clean first.Smile It definitely worked for us, not every time, but sometimes.

40+7 today-going by hospital dates. And still no sign.

therumoursaretrue · 15/08/2012 09:15

Hi ladies, hope your all having a relatively relaxed week.
Congratulations on all the new babies! I'll have to have a proper catch up on the thread to 'meet' them!

I was discharged from hospital after what was a fairly stressful time on Tuesday...BP is now under control with meds but my blood results were a bit dodgy, liver profile was borderline as to wether they would deliver me and I have had protein in my urine but wasn't a massive amount. Since then I have been back to hospital twice with +++ protein showing up at home but when I do a new sample in hospital only a trace!? So not sure what that's about.

I'm actually not that impressed with my care, and off in search of a copy of the hospitals complaints procedure this morning as I am being told different things by the 2 doctors I'm seeing and it's starting to really grate on me that I don't know where I stand.

Lovemarmite · 15/08/2012 09:49

Oh wow, excellent woopsi I am so jealous of your nights sleep! I had about 3 hours and found myself wound up by family stress and had to get up and write things down and then managed another hour. I think writing it down did help as I'm not constantly thinking about things now.

This morning DH offered to help with some perineal massage and I boo'd and said my bump is way too painful, the stretch marks are looking red raw and feeling like they're being tested again and I can't bare anything going near other areas to cause stretching. Hmm I know I should be considering it though Hmm

Even though yesterday I seemed to lose a bit of the plug, today, LO seems so happy still inside and there's no more signs yet. Trying not to moan but today feeling a bit pants about all my pains!

rumours sounds like you're going through it a bit and I hope your hospital can sort themselves out with their advice! Can you talk to your GP as they might be able to shed light on your results and action to take?
When I needed to go through things with my GP a few months ago, he rang up and was happy to look at everything for me and was able to step in if needed.

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday and there's some more baby news soon!

miaboo · 15/08/2012 10:12

Hi all
went to the midwife yesterday at 39 weeks didnt really expect to be there but baby wont make an appearance! She just gave me the sympthetic look when I mentioned that apart from midwife trips I havent been out of the house for about 3 weeks due to severe pain as he keeps trapping my nerves and I cant walk, no bloody advice or help just a 'look' and I wanted to rip her head off!
Had bloods done again which was a surprise to me! - my platelets were low last time but not a concern but apparantly the hospital want them done again. Spent from last wednesday till sunday poorly with a stomach bug which isnt great with 2 children and no ability to rush to the loo anymore!! Then both monday and yesterday morning my eyesite went funny and couldnt think straight! my 3rd pregnancy is my worst by far but still dont want the pain of labour either Confused
I really want him here before dc1 goes back to school so I can be more mobile and squeeze a couple of family trips in, he's been so good fetching, carrying and really helping me I feel guilty as he's only 5 and dealt with alot and I want to spoil him alittle so a soft play trip and a theme park trip is on cards, thanks to selling things on ebay! (just havent told him want to surprise him!) :)

The3Bears · 15/08/2012 10:16

ARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!

Sorry for the rant but I just want to scream, I really want to have my baby now I am so fed up of people ringing or asking if anythings changed etc so frustrating I am fine with waiting but yesterday I couldnt even wash my hair and dry it without the phone ringing 3 times to see if I was okay (mum) I know there just worried etc but I WILL ring if something happens :( I dont even remember people being this bad when I was overdue with ds.
Sorry for the moan but it really annoys me :(

Anyway apart from that I slept well and am still getting strong tightenings across bump and it feels funny when I walk etc but not sure if anythings happeneing, got mw appt today so will see what she says. Does anyone know if I will be offered a sweep? I never had one with ds even when I was overdue then so not too sure what to expect.

Congratulations lamb yay too more babies Grin Hope more arrive soon.

miaboo · 15/08/2012 10:23

Thats what i forgot to put! The3Bears I asked about a sweep I had one the day after I was due with dc2 and went into labour the next day, she said that they like to leave you 10-12 after due before one but I could request it to be done on my due date but she didnt look massively keen on the idea! My midwife with dc2 was lovely about it could see how fed up I was and I had had some complications so did it without arguing, this time I think If I need one a may have to push alittle even though she said it was our request :)

Ambi · 15/08/2012 10:24

Hi everyone, congrats to the new mums, mostly boys it seems. Also sounds like a few are close. I'm trying hard to ignore all aches and pains as they seem to amount to nothing.

Enjoying my first few days of Mat leave. Sorted DDs uniform for her starting school. My washing has never been so upto date. I've boxed away my work clothes Smile for the next 10 months. I've a hair appt today and booked a pedicure and bikini wax for next week.

I'm trying to think that my due date is 42 weeks as I really hated the overdue despair I had last time. DH really wants baby out asap as he's due to work for 72 hours a week for the next few weeks to cover holidays and he's def not looking forward to it.

Got my baby shower on Sat, I'm not sure what to expect Confused. My bf insisted that she do it for me, I wasn't too keen but it'll be nice to have a small girlie gathering (though I wish I could drink).

MrGeresHamster · 15/08/2012 10:51

Morning all! Just had midwife round again (41+1) to book me in for induction on sunday (eek)... had my second sweep and what a difference! 2 cm dilated and she felt baby's head! May not make it to the induction... I'm feeling so much more positive. Grin

Hey everyone think baby has moved even lower. Feel constantly like I need the loo. Very annoying but trying not to get too excited. Was gonna go to a thing in the park today but looks like the rain is setting in. Might go to soft play instead.
