We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

I don't mind RLT. I drink a lot of red bush and don't find it that much different. Had no electricity all afternoon but it is back now. Went for a magical mystery tour with DH as hadn't left the village for ages! Got a bit lost in a posh housing estate where the footballers live which was fun, then stopped for a magnum (not of the champagne variety unfortunately). Still no sign of anything happening after my sweep. Had a bit of cramp on and off but no contractions yet! Oh and we have a downstairs loo!

Gingerelle · 10/08/2012 18:41

Hi all, 39 weeks today and no sign of any baby so decided to read up on natural ways to bring on labour as I really want to avoid an induction....found this 'gem' on baby centre's review and thought I would share.....they mostly said v poor evidence for everything (curry, pineapple etc) but said some better evidence for the effects of prostglandins (think that's the right substance) in semen, hence some evidence for some rumpy pumpy bringing labour on. BUT....also said sone evidence that these are best absorbed (and therefore more likely to have an effect) if "absorbed through the gut". As in swallowed. DP is currently grinning from ear to ear as I FOOLISHLY shared this fact!!!

MrGeresHamster · 10/08/2012 18:45

Gingerelle THAT is not being shared with DH however desperate I am.

OP posts:
hamncheese · 10/08/2012 19:19

I'm glad I've had the baby already ginger :P

woopsidaisy · 10/08/2012 19:28

Gingerelle that site must have been written by a desperate man...I simply don't believe it!

I too will not be sharing that with DH....Grin. Plus, if it was true that it was more successful taken orally, why don't they give it to you orally in hospital?

Gingerelle · 10/08/2012 19:43

geres & woops...very sensible not to share...I was chuckling at computer when DP asked what was so funny but I sooo should have kept mouth shut!!! and now u mention it, it does seem Like some sort of male propaganda.....I remain suspicious myself and shall be sticking with pineapple and curry! Happy Friday eve all and and a big fingers crossed for all who are post-due date that there's some baby action soon x

justine09x · 10/08/2012 19:56

has the Labour dust worked yet??

I'm convinced i'm ready, been for a 3 mile walk cried halfway round lol thought hubby would have to carry me home :(

Yuuuucccckkkk gingerelle !!! no friggin way, I am only barely able to 'let him' come near me to get fruity (only coz I want his prostaglandins) I am not doing that!!!

richmondmum84 · 10/08/2012 20:08

Hi ladies, still no babies here! It seems like we all go overdue! I had my sweep 2 days ago, last night had irregular painful contractions and they stopped after 3 hours. I lost my mucus plug today and having irregular contractions!! It is going no where though! I wonder who will be the next Smile there are so many of us waiting for their little ones

Lovemarmite · 10/08/2012 20:18

ishop I didn't call mw in the end as wondered if I should be having more signs? They all seemed to have gone away from last week, likely to be this overdue bus we're all waiting for!

Due tomorrow and now can't be bothered to dress in anything other than DH 's baggy t-shirts, so looking glam too! Only had two hours sleep last night and so praying for sleep dust please x

Showed DH the prostaglandins in the gut and he looks keen, oops!

capecath · 10/08/2012 20:21

ginerelle ha ha ha !! Plenty action going on here :) But none of er that.

richmond feeling the same! Similar happenings been going on here. Frustrating.

Just had a super day for DS's birthday in the sunshine and with the family. So lovely. Feeling super tired now - walked so much - but hopefully that will help get things moving...

ham interesting about your body recovery. Glad that side going well for you. I found my hips never really went back to the same shape as they were before. I did manage to shake off the weight reasonably quickly though. Hoping hips won't change any more!!

Nightfall1983 · 10/08/2012 20:42

Hi all, sorry to hear so many getting fed up with things and fingers crossed for you all that your babies start coming soon!!

TGI Friday ;-) happy as always on a Friday, even more so today as was off and spent the day with DM - she's visiting to 'take care' of me whilst DH is away. Really just wanted her here to drive me to the hospital if needed and also be with me in labour if DH can't get back in time but she's been brilliant! We always get on well but it's been a long time since we've been able to spend some time just the two of us, she's really spoiling me! Spent a lovely day in the sunshine, interspersed with bits of shopping. I struggle to get her to let me pay for anything - went to Sainsbury's and she insisted on paying, even though it was just my weekly food shop with a few extra bits for treats for the weekend. Plus she does most of the cooking and all of the cleaning up after - I'm sure she thinks I'm still a child :-) I feel very lucky and spoilt and enjoying my time with her even when just hanging out/reading/chatting etc.

BUT I miss DH terribly, he's not back till Monday and I want a cuddle already...

Oh well, 37 + 6 today - only two more weeks of work! Grin

eightieshopaholic · 10/08/2012 21:30

Anyway all set to go here now, both parents back in the country but one more hurdle, which is an all day wedding an hour away from home, gulp!! Hope I'm not the main attraction!!!

Had MW yest and had protein and sugar in my urine, so managed to get my group B strep swab after all, although with results due in next wed/thurs I may have given birth by then!!!

woopsidaisy · 10/08/2012 23:15

ham that is great, so glad it is helping. It can be so uncomfortable.

I am so blown up with fluid, I think I will lose a couple of stone in the first week-I'm not joking!
40 + 2, and still no sign....

Signet2012 · 10/08/2012 23:54

Well ladies could do with some advise...

Been a bit out of sorts today, grumbling stomach ache. Was treat out for dinner by mother - fish n chips. Felt a bit dodgy after, just stomach aching.

Had tea tonight, within two minutes mad dash to loo, with v bad runs x 2 thought it was never going to stop. :( Didn't feel ill or anything but stomach was cramping alot.

Very achy thighs and generally feel odd and tired.

Not due til 28th but baby is fully engaged according to midwife.

Something starting slowly perhaps? Or more likely dodgy lunch?

TIA

Weekipper · 11/08/2012 00:02

Sorry I don't know as I've had a few days of aches and pains, running tummy and thought that was the start but then it all faded away. Whereas for others it has been the start. From what I gather you'll know it when it starts properly and you've just got to keep an eye out for changes to baby's movement etc and if worried call the m/w of triage.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Signet2012 · 11/08/2012 00:17

She has been much more active last few days. Not prepared for it to be tonight ! I have hardly any petrol and house is a mess !

Stomach ache seems to be easing a bit more perhaps just a dodgy lunch Blush

frillylemons · 11/08/2012 05:35

signet, I've been feeling exactly the same. I'm due on 28th too!! No advice apart from just go with it. That's what my MW said to me. She agreed that she thinks I've had my show, so it's just a case of waiting. She said it could still be a couple weeks though...hopefully this means we won't go over!!

hamncheese · 11/08/2012 08:18

signet I got a lot of quite loose stuff in the week or two before I went. Then on the day I got my show and little contractions started everything just got forced out. For the first. Few hours of labour I was pooing with nearly every contraction. Not nice but avoided anything later on/ in delivery!

Speaking of that woopsi I just weighed myself. I had put on 3 stone in pregnancy and I've already lost 2! So chuffed, only 1 to go and I think it'll be quick my appetite has taken a hit and I'm feeding like a fiend while not really craving anything unhealthy. I thought id been a total pig but couldnt have been that bad! Grin

Whiteangel · 11/08/2012 09:25

Ugh, still pregnant. I hope I'm not the lid on the Pringles ladies! Felt rubbish at bed time and really thought something might happen. Possibly lost my plug during the night though. Went to the loo and sort of felt something fall out. Very odd sensation. What do you think?

The3Bears · 11/08/2012 09:44

Hello ladies,

Hope your all well, Due date today and nothing so far Grin Im not looking for signs though had none with ds and just started at 3am 3days over so not really expecting any signs here. Just hoping I dont go too overdue, apart from that I feel great still had a lovely walk around the shops yesterday with dm came home and was doing bits of gardening til 7pm and had a lovely takeaway with dp Grin was bliss and then I had a great night sleep apart from dp tapping my shoulder every couple of hours asking if I was okay Hmm he's such a wally he'll be the first to know when im in labour.

Really hope baby does make an apperance today as it's a lovely day but we will see.

Hope everyone else is well and not feeling too down all our babies must be so comfy in there :) hoping some babies arrive soon though, love the mantra once they pop they wont stop. Who will be first ???

capecath · 11/08/2012 09:58

signet that's kinda funny, we were just chatting to a friend yesterday whose mom swears by fish and chips for inducing her - claims she had it before going into labour with both her kids! So who knows ;)

MrGeresHamster · 11/08/2012 10:09

Signet one of my friends claims it was the fish and chips she ate that sent her into labour. She thought it was the grease...

Had my show last night... Meant DH was not required for 'duty' but at least things are moving along. Midwife thought I'd have some bleeding after the sweep but I'd had that earlier, this was definately older blood (sorry TMI). Like the end of a period but gloopier. No other signs at all yet.

Will try and get out for another walk... and maybe some fish and chips today. Grin

My mum had F&C the night before having me. I tried it on my due date but couldn't fit it all in. Maybe I need a child's portion!

MrsMigginslovespies · 11/08/2012 11:06

Hello all,

We're all in the same boat, no?! I THINK things might be moving in the right way for me at last, as I've had no symptoms at all, except for a few BHs from time to time. But last night, had period-type cramps, bit of backache, sore tummy etc. Obviously not in labour, but at least body mightbe getting ready. FIngers crossed!

interesting theory about F&C too. Might give that a go if nothing's happened by Wed (my DD). Turns out, my sweep is on Monday, not Tuesday, so maybe something will kick off then too, but will see.

Off to get a sort of pedicure today (but no polish as still have no pinky toenails grimly), but want the old polish off and a nice shape etc. Plus the massge bit would be so nice on my huge puffy feet.

What are your plans for today? Anything nice? x
