Hi everyone!

I think I did this correctly! Eeeek! Probably not Blush I think we still have a few messages to go on the old one, so it's here for when we're ready :)

WeeJo08 · 23/07/2012 12:29

Utopian I think your dates sound right...well, going by what I've been told mine are! I am 20 weeks exactly today and I am due on December 10th (first baby.)

FriendofDorothy · 23/07/2012 12:41

WeeJo - I constantly get the full feeling like I have a balloon in my gut. I am hoping to feel movement soon though!

JoJoB77 · 23/07/2012 12:56

Utopian I'm 19 weeks today and baby is due on 17th Dec. (Welcome by the way Smile

Re movements, I have anterior placenta according to mw check at 16 weeks so not sure on exactly where it is positioned. However, I'm feeling very little movements, hardly anything really - the only way I can describe what I do feel is like a ball bouncing in there, really quickly - it's almost like it's doing a backflip or something.

Sorry to be brief but I'm at work - I'll be back Grin

kate2boysandabump · 23/07/2012 14:12

Utopian I'm due on the 15th and I'm 19+2, I also have my scan on the 3rd Smile

Baby moving feels more like pressure from the inside or like being pushed out from the inside. It doesn't feel like fluttering or bubble, more purposeful then that.

Try not to worry too much about no movement. It's still early days, especially for first timers. My GP said he didn't expect to feel it until at least 20 weeks.

COD I'm also glad that the holidays are now, when I've got some chance of being able to keep up! This afternoon we are making a list of all the lovely things we would all like to do in the holidays, to remind ourselves to do them. Typically DH has the longest list and the least time to do them in Hmm

kate2boysandabump · 23/07/2012 14:13

FOD That full, balloon feeling is probably your baby!!

Stacks · 23/07/2012 15:05

Afternoon all. Going to try a catch up post :)

Nipple talk - I've not had any problems... they are surprisingly erect most of the time, but no problems with cracking or pain luckily. I do tend to moisturise them at the same time as I do my bump though, so maybe that's helped?

spotty I hope your DD's blood test went ok? Your bump is looking good, I'll have to put a new photo up soon.
Nutella I've had problems with eczema on my face too, just on my cheek below my eye. I've thought maybe some bio oil on it at night might help.
WeeJo I think it's common to get a little bit of spotting after sex - the cervix is easier to irritate when pg. Mention it to your mw, but try not to worry about it I would say. My DH also got to experience his first kicks this weekend, they've ben strong enough to feel for a little while, however it takes lots of patience to sit there with his hand there waiting on the off chance ministacks will kick the right place.
Barbeasty congratulations on the good scan! Another little boy for team blue. What's the OS the placenta is near?
Clarella I hope you feel better now. Time in A&E is always a test of patience. Is there a plan for you now, will you be signed off work again? Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday which is good.
FoD I find the movements very strange, they're a bit like being 'flicked' from the inside, however my brain always tries to explain the feeling as being something else. I initially tried to dismiss them as muscle twitches (like an eye tick, but in your tummy), wind (a sort of bubbling feeling like a fart making its way through your intestines), or other such feelings. It doesn't feel like a baby kicking at all really! They're only just building their bones at 20 weeks, and it's common (so says my book) not to feel them till as late as 20 or 24 weeks. The kicks will be getting more strength to them soon enough :)
utopian I'm expecting my 1st, and am due on the 12th so just a few days ahead of you. See above for description of kicks/movement. However, I found I dismissed it as something else until I felt similar feelings at a similar time, in a similar place, for a couple of days in a row. It's too easy to assume it's just a tummy grumble or something!
COD I'm sure people will be delighted with whatever you deliver! Babies are like that, if it's another little boy he'll win them over with cuteness and cuddles.

Wow, that's a long post! Not much news from me really, I'm knitting my first bit of baby clothes, a lovely little cardigan. It's much quicker to knit something so small :) Got my scan on Weds too, looking forward to that so much!

honeytea · 23/07/2012 15:50

(previously known as littlemissbroody)

congratulations on more boys!

weejo it sounds like old cervix bleeding, what with it being brown having sex maybe just dislodged it.

I have been feeling movements for a while, they started like a mobile phone vibrating but now i feel the occasional bigger kick. At my scan they said my placenta was behind the baby and my womb was far forwards I think that is why I have been feeling them for a while.

nipple cheese i have this!! its so strange, I hope i mannage to make actual milk by the time the baby comes and not just cheese!

brooke89 · 23/07/2012 15:51

I was looking out for a trapped wind/ fluttering feeling as everyone else had described but I think it felt more like muscle spasms at first - almost like when you get a twitchy eye Wink but imagine that inside! I'm 19+4 and they're getting loads stronger now and feel more like a kick than a twitch. Ive screamed a few times when they've been big ones! DP has been able to feel them over the weekend which is nice as he was frustrated that I could feel and he couldnt before! It's my first DC and I started to feel it at 15 weeks but I think everyone is different, I have a friend who's 24 weeks and has only just started to feel them over the weekend!

2blessed · 23/07/2012 16:20

Wow! I've got so much to catch up on. Hope everyone had a great weekend and welcome to (I think!) the 2 newbies Maazaa and utopian, I'm pretty new myself.
I'm beginning to feel little flutters every now and then but did pig out on yesterday's Sunday dinner so not sure if yesterday's was actually wind Blush. It was a great dinner cooked by DP - rice n peas, mac pie, stew chicken, roast lamb and veg - yum!
All very exciting. I'm 4 months today/18+1 - whoooo!!!

Picking up on something I noticed a few (maybe more) posts ago is people touching my bump. Grrrr! Will have to invest in the t-shirt from New Look. I think a lot of people think I'm a bit funny for telling people that I don't like it so please don't do it. I haven't turned into a a communal soft toy/animal to pet. At the moment I still feel that bump is mostly existing fat so not really much to feel. Maybe once DC starts kicking then I will let people but until then "don't touch my bump." AIBU? Doing what I feel is right adn happy to take criticism on this one.

Also my nipples, constantly erect, very sore and like someone else said DP feels he can remedy them with his touch!

PurplePidjin · 23/07/2012 16:20

My really early ones were more likely head butts as PidjChick had his head in my bladder and the placenta is posterior. Now he's shunted round i get much more fluttery movements my bladder is no longer a football i imagine that scenario is pretty rare, though!

gilsbubbles · 23/07/2012 16:27

ive been offered a Flu vaccine throught work... anyone know if this is ok? seems like a good idea

gilsbubbles · 23/07/2012 16:31

to all those not feeling kicks yet... just hang on in there.
I've been off on hols for 2 weeks and felt the first flutters while we were away. THey've been getting a bit stronger over the last week or so. I tend to feel them when I'm having a quiet lie down in the evening or just before getting up in the morning. A full bladder does tend to make them a bit easier to recognise but they're still so gently they'd be easily missed if I as moving around

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2012 16:33

Flu vaccine is recommended in pregnancy. I have it every year anyway because I'm diabetic. They don't normally start them until October time I don't think? They are different each year because they predict the most common strain (I think)

MyDaydream · 23/07/2012 16:42

I got groped at on Saturday by annoying friend of DPs, she spent all night screaming in my face how excited she was for us and then lingered on my bump for far too long. My friends stood behind her were laughing at my "get the fuck off me" face that she was ignoring, it was the first bump touch and I was just so stunned that I didn't actually know what to say. I just don't get it, never have I felt the need to touch a pregnant lady, I'm perfectly happy with cuddles once the baby is born and can't see why everyone else can't wait for that too.
My DP got shouted at in the very early days of my pregnancy every time he went anywhere near my nipples that he's too scared to touch them without checking how I'm feeling first!

gils, the posters up at my Drs surgery suggest pregnant ladies get the jab but really whether you want to or not is down to you. I don't know what I'm doing, I'll probably talk to my MW about it next time I see her. I'll probably go with it, I don't fancy having flu in the last days of pregnancy/first days of motherhood.

emilyeggs · 23/07/2012 16:47

No kicks still and no proper bump yet Sad starting to get worried! Not seeing a midwife untill the 16th!!!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2012 16:48

Also that means you're entitled to it anyway through nhs your work don't need to pay for you to have it done although its only about £10 I think!

I've never had flu or a bad reaction to the jab Smile

itsMYNutella · 23/07/2012 16:48

Stacks thanks for the tip! I have some generic "mummy" oil so will give that a go. I've been working my way through the cupboard trying not to irritate it. Just when I think it is clearing up it comes back...
I had a patch on my cheek near my eye once years ago (most usual place is my chin / near my mouth) and it came up over night and looked like someone had hit me! Shock

Re movement I've felt some but not for the last few days/week.... think the bean is hiding behind my flab :o I'm sure I'll get to the bladder as plaything stage soon enough! :o

Also we're dog sitting at the mo (I'd love a pet... DP isn't convinced) and DP spends ages with this cute little thing lying next to him and is absolutely fascinated. I'm sure once the bean has arrived he'll be glued to it's every squeak, move, expression ... lets wait and see how he deals with the emissions! :o

JoJoB77 · 23/07/2012 16:50

I had the flu jab when pregnant with DD. Caused me no problems and the doc did say the effects of catching flu while preg far outweighed any effects having the jab.

Ill be having it this year if offered Smile

EggsMichelle · 23/07/2012 16:52

I have never had the flu, and being a nurse I'm offered the vaccine every year and I turn it down every year, I just don't want to risk getting it now from the vaccine itself!!!

Has anyone else noticed how bloody hot it is!!! Apparently it's 26c and after having my lunch in a pub garden I have sunburn, where is the gentle build up of sunshine before full on heat wave? It's just not on and I wish to make a formal complaint.

And I'm really thirsty Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2012 16:56

The hot weather is only going to last until the weekend Sad

EggsMichelle I might be wrong but I thought fly vaccine is like a dead virus and can't give you flu?

EggsMichelle · 23/07/2012 17:14

It's not dead, it's the active virus but only in a tiny volume which your immune system should have no trouble tackling quickly and preventing it from reproducing and making you feel ill. However a small proportion of people do develop flu, but it's tiny figures and not significant enough to support my flu paranoia Grin

Stacks · 23/07/2012 17:28

To those complaining of the hot weather - Scotland has rain today, all day, non-stop cold rain! We had one warm (not hot) day on Sat, Sunday was warm but blowing a gale, and today is rain. I think we have rain and cold for the rest of the week too.

olliebob · 23/07/2012 17:31

Hi just a quick msg as i really am rubbish at posting on here. Went for my scan and was told it is a pink bump, dc will be pleased as they both wanted a sister so they could swap rooms Confused lol.
Am also shocked by this hot weather and really need to remember to be drinking water.
Am also in with the annoying nipples, although dh is not allowed anywhere near them so cannot comment on any solutions. Although mine do tend to be super sensitive anyway lol.
Hope everyone has been enjoying this hot weather at least we arent near the end of these pregnancies as this weather would be awful if we were!!

mwahmwah · 23/07/2012 17:45

Stuffy and bloody wet in Scotland. I need to emigrate...
Dinner out with a friend tonight and I have promised bump its first taste of red wine :) just the one though but I am excited!

Barbeasty · 23/07/2012 18:06

Stacks I had to look it up to be sure. It's the opening of the cervix within the womb. True placenta previa is when it covers the opening, but being within a couple of cm can cause problems. But 90% of the time it moves out of the way as the uterus grows.
