Ladies I've woken up with cramps and brown discharge in my pants and when I wipe :( Please someone tell me that this is just old period and does not necessarily spell doom??

It doesn't mean doom. Lots of people have odd things all throughout so don't panic. I had and still do have loads of cramps, in fact its very painful wind, but can be agony. Make sure your not thinking it is something else. And ring your midwife team, they will reassure you. Take care and have a weekend doing nothing.

Thank you :) I know it does happen and will try to stay rational and not panic... Will ring midwife. Have to go to an all-day seminar today which I could really do without, but other than that I plan to sit on my backside for the rest of the weekend.

Tugs I had loads of brown discharge with my DD at about 10 or 11 weeks. I thought it was all over but a scan showed a burst blood vessel or something (really minor and nothing needed to fix it). I happened to be on my way to my scan at the time so was lucky to be instantly reassured. Agree with pmgkt phone your midwives for reassurance but this really is so common.

tugs I also had a thing a couple of wks ago of cramps and spotting, but they gave me a scan And had an examination and all was fine. They told me its very common. Try not to worry but do get it checked.

Anyone else's morning sickness taken on a life of its own ?

tugs i had that when my period would have been due. my gp said not to worry about brown blood xxxxxx

Boutique - my nausea is horrible. I was off work all last week and have been signed off for another two. Nothing seems to help at all and I had become quite low too. I feel better gaving accepted that I just can't work and that it's ok to have the time off.

Bunny - I had brown cm from five weeks but no pain at all. My gp referred me for a scan and everything is fine. I am ten weeks now and the bleeding is finally beginning to stop. You should definitely get it checked out - do you have an out of hours gp you can call?

Can someone better than me add me to the list please? Was on at the start but got a bit nervous. Had a dating scan on thurs and all looks good. Lovely heartbeat etc. am nearly 9 weeks, a few days earlier according to the scan than I thought,grr!
Thisis baby no 2, have a 3 year old ds. Am 32. Due date 29 Jan. Next scan (nt) 17 July. Ages away!
Nausea getting me big time, but not as much as the tiredness.
Just into maternity bras now which is v comfy, and have been wearing my bump band to hold my trousers together, not sure how much longer i can keep it secret at work .....

How are things tugs?xxx

We're off to a family party this afternoon so we're telling the in-laws, I'm quite excited about this as MiL is desperate for a grandchild and I'm her only hope. I might even get some tears out of her!

pickles did you get the tears? :-D I did when max told his mum bless her..... and his brother but shh about that bit;-) Scan on tuesday an im getting nervous now (again)

Thanks for your concern and kind words ladies. Good to know it is common and usually harmless. Had more brown stuff and some v small clots yesterday and now a strange 'heavy' feeling in lower abdomen, which isn't painful or crampy, just dull and weird. Have stopped looking on the internet because it's just freaking me out! Tried to call midwife but no one there at the weekend, message just said go to A&E but it's not bad enough for that. So I'm going to go to EPU first thing tomorrow morning and hope and pray all is ok. Will keep you posted. X

tugs if u do start getting more worried go to A&E and they should then be able to send u direct to the EPU even on a sunday or after hours in the week,if u feel like u need to go hun,go,dnt worry about if its 'bad enough', I went straight to A&E when I had spotting/cramps n it meant I got the care I sadly needed straight away,I also know LOTS of mums who were fine even though they had bleeding,my sis bled every wk all t way through!..I truly hope Im not freaking u out,just know how bloody scary it is,n hope u can get the reassurance u need asap as the waiting around is awful,all the best x x x x

hi All,
Thought i'd check in as had appt with the midwife today - giving blood was awful, she had to stab away at a few of my veins to get what she needed - NICE!!!

Anyway, interestingly she said that the scan date may not be until 14 weeks rather than 12 so could be waiting even longer to find out more which is annoying and frustrating!! (Currently i'm 10+6),in the meantime i've got a big client hospitality thing to get out the way next friday, which i'm dreading, as all eyes will be on why i'm not drinking and then a hen do the weekend after that.

We had friends for dinner on Friday night and i was so tired yesterday, i went to bed at 7:30 and slept for 12 hours straight!
Tugs will be thinking about you tomorrow am!

Hi godzookey hope your arm isn't bruised. I had an awful one once where she lifted the needle up before taking it out. My arm was black and blue for days and couldn't lie on it. Some are just crap at taking blood but luckily I've found most to be quite good.

Tugs hope you get some reassurance tomorrow.

I'm 9 weeks and wont be announcing till after scan (long time away).

Tugs hope you get the reassurance you need thus morning.

I hate giving blood. I always feel like I can actually feel the blood leaving my body (I know that sounds crazy !). Don't mind injections at all .

I am SO tired this morning and boobs are agony!! Stupid Mondays ;)

I'm getting very fed up with feeling tired all the time. I feel like a boring old woman....
Scan a week tomorrow so looking forward to that. I'm hoping it will make it feel more real.....at the moment I still feel totally detached.

Good news, had an internal scan this morning and all looks ok, my bubba's still there! No explanation for the bleeding, midwife just said "it happens" but she couldnt see any sinister reason for it and said everything looks normal. VERY relieved. Seriously never expected pregnancy to be so damn stressful!!

That's fantastic Tugs :o you must be over the moon! This whole being pregnant business is really stressful, but it'll all be worth it in the end.
