Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
godzookey · 21/06/2012 20:57

Allchik, thanks for explaining that one!
Disco, yeah i'm surprised, am paranoid that i'll turn up to the hospital and knowing my luck they'll have given me an incorrect date so back to square 1.

Viennetta is calling me now.....

DontmindifIdo · 21/06/2012 20:58

Hello Disco!

sooo, Boden have a sale on their maternity wear, as do Mamas and Papas. Now, last time round I hated my maternity jeans, (one pair that were fabulous cut from Isabella Oliver but under bump so they just kept falling down in the last couple of months, and another over bump pair from mothercare that did stay up but not very flattering) so I do at least need new maternity Jeans - but is it a bit too early to be buying them now? I'm going to be annoyed in a couple of months when I have to pay more, but then well it feels a bit like I might be counting my chickens to buy maternity wear this early... anyone else going to be tempted?

DiscoDomina · 21/06/2012 21:31

Dontmind tempted yes! My practical head born cheapskate says why pay more for something you can get cheaper now...... But then my superstitious an reality check voice says whoa there let's not get ahead of ourselves! Torn!

DontmindifIdo · 21/06/2012 22:12

right, just discussed with DH, his view is, well if it doesn't work out this time round, we know we want a second DC, so we'd be trying again soon and eventually I'll wear them. Seems a little cold, but then he's right, so I have bought a pair of skinnies and a pair of straight leg jeans (intend to send one back).

Oh, and I've heard from my mother, I had told her after last time round she told the world that this time round she had to keep it secret until the scan. Seems she told my Aunt 'by accident' Hmm , so she thought she better call and tell my other Aunt 'to be fair'. Between those 2, that will garentee the bulk of the North West will know by Sunday. I am now feeling harsh because I told her that if it's bad news it's her job to call everyone to say I've lost it. I think she was a little shocked by that.

PricklyPickle · 21/06/2012 23:36

Yay Bunty! so pleased for you. They changed my EDD to 31/12/12, but I'm not going over to the dark side of the December thread either. I'm sure half of us will end up popping in December or February anyway.

April I don't know if you'll read this but it was really lovely of you to pop in, I know it must be strange, but its good for us all to know you're doing well.

Storm September!! That's crazy nuts.

Hello newbies lovely to have you aboard.

Dontmind I don't think you're being overly harsh. They have to learn that their actions have consequences!

allchik · 22/06/2012 07:36

Hey all, dontmind thanks for the heads up with mamas n papas, just had a quick look at their sale stuff, lush! Ive decided sod it,Im gonna start buying stuff n thinking positive. The doc at my scan said now a heartbeat at 11.5 had been seen Im no more at risk of a mc than someone who is 30 wks.I didnt allow myself to get excited at all till Wed so Im gonna make up for lost time (although no doubt this new feeling of optimism will wobble over the next 4.5 wks whilst waiting for my nxt mw appointment n the doppler!) love to everyone x

Birdies · 22/06/2012 09:15

dontmind you sound like a very patient lady, I would've gone mad if it was me! I think you said exactly the right thing!

Pickle glad you're staying here!

pmgkt · 22/06/2012 12:20

Hi all. Scan went well and guess what, my date has changed too. New edd is 28th Dec. So bunty we are buddies now. The baby was lying upside-down so scan photos look very odd.

allchik · 22/06/2012 12:45

Congratulations pmgkt upside down! Oh wow! You got a full acrobatics performance then hehe! Its so mad to think of a teeny tiny baby moving about in there.....I just can't wait to feel it!!! Those of you that have had babies before, at what point did you feel movement??? I can't wait, although if I stay as gassy as this I will never know if its baby or windy pops!!! A couple of my year 11 students know I am pregnant and they have just had me intears as they have bought me a HUGE bunch of flowers and a baby photo frame, another has bought me a baby outfit! feel very loved and blessed (hope my baby grows up to be such a thoughtful teenager!) x

pmgkt · 22/06/2012 13:07

How sweet if them. I have felt a few movements already but not often, but this is number 2.The midwife said today that first time mums don't know what they are feeling until later cos they don't know what to be looking for. Later on its more obvious, last time I think it was about 19 weeks.

mrsbugsywugsy · 22/06/2012 13:07

Glad everyone's scans are going well.

Does anyone know how mamas and papas sizing comes up? They have some nice jeans in a 14 but I am usually a 12.

Yesterday I gave in to the carb cravings and had supernoodles for lunch and a chip butty for dinner. Mmmm. Maybe I should buy a size bigger Wink

Pascha · 22/06/2012 13:19

Glad your scan went well, pgmkt I had no idea what way baby was facing as the monitor showed it always on the side even though she was moving the probe all over the place.

My first pregnancy I felt movement about 18 weeks. I haven't felt anything yet at 12+5, maybe in a couple of weeks?

Don't know about M&P sizing. I'm currently eyeing up a black maxi skirt on Asos but can't decide if I will trip over it or not. I'm at that real inbetweeny stage where I can't do up my trousers but all my maternity wear from last time is too big to fit comfortably yet and looks a bit silly. Bump bands can only take a girl so far.

I have a date for Afternoon Tea in London in mid july, I will be just over 16 weeks so not big at all and I just don't know what to do about nice clothes. Needs to be comfy to wear all day and smart by 4pm so linen trousers are out. Jeans too casual, my bump won't be big enough by then to fill a nice maternity dress and I really hate flappy floaty non-maternity dresses. I want a long skirt I think, with a fitted top but apart from that maxi skirt nothing is jumping out at me...

And also half the summery stuff is out of stock in a size 12 by now Sad

Tugstonia · 22/06/2012 13:25

Yay to good scans! :)

Had my booking in this morning, all good. Lots of questions and form-filling, took my bloods, peed in a pot. No daft questions and no breathing test. Lots of info to take in tho, not sure I caught it all. Took about an hour. Mw referring me to a consultant for my thyroid (been hypo all my life, now randomly hyper) and ticked the 'high risk' box which is a bit alarming but hopefully a formality because of my thyroid. Cannot bloomin wait for my scan now! Roll on 9th July.

SquealyB · 22/06/2012 13:28

pgmkt upside down baby! That is cool that you can see that sort of stuff at the scan. I don't really know what to expect. Echo mrsbugsy great to hear all the good scan news.

Yep I am in the funny inbetween stage and have no idea what to wear at the moment. Letting people assume I have just been at the doughnuts which of course I have been but starting to feel a touch uncomfortable. Heading to the gym after work though to work off lunch plus the bag of skittles post lunch

DiscoDomina · 22/06/2012 13:46

Yeah it is nice to hear all scans going well so far Smile

Allchik that is very sweet and very touching of your pupils

Squealy i feel uncomfortable in all my clothes and having recently culled a load of my old bigger clothes to charity i'm loathed to buy any that aren't none maternity esq with the potential to grow with me. Cos at 8 wks it surely can't be pg weight ?Confused But don't want to invest just incase.

Have booked a private scan for Sunday so fingers crossed that will hopefully reassure me for now.

BuntyCollocks · 22/06/2012 13:47

Happy to have you as a 'bump buddy' pgmkt :) !

I think I have felt a few flickers, but nothing I can be definite about.

Isabella Oliver have a good sale on at the moment. I may be treating myself shortly. Have also been lusting after stuff on asos. What is the sizing like at asos? Seraphine jeans seem pretty true to size.

Birdies · 22/06/2012 14:17

pgmkt great news about your scan!

allchik that's lovely to hear of nice teenagers in the world! (in the news today is aomething about a poor lady being bullied on the bus by kids. So it's good to hear about lovely ones!)

Ladies I just had a delivery of maternity clothes from an online shop called Yummymummy. Really pleased with all of them and can especially recommend their black cropped trousers www.yummymummymaternity.co.uk/maternity-trousers-crop-black-rhianna-three-quarter-length-4482-p.asp

They're really flattering and so comfy with the big band built-in (ok I don't need it yet but it's so comfy am now thinking bands are the way forward whether pregnant or not lol!). There's room to grow in them so they are actually good to wear now and probably all the way through.

Pascha they might be good for your afternoon tea with a nice pair of heals or wedges?

Allchic I didn't feel movement until about 23 weeks with my DD as I had an anterior placenta (at the front). This time I may have felt the odd flutter but not sure yet. The first movements are a bit like popping feelings and can easily be mistaken for wind!

allchik · 22/06/2012 14:37

Disco wishing you loads of luck for your private scan...I really hope it puts your mind at rest as it is stressful waiting for 12/13/14 weeks for the NHS scan....Its normally dead post too at the private places...they had the screen on the ceiling so you could lie back and watch the baby (although its kinds like a beating baked bean at that stage!) without getting a cricked neck! Enjoy!
Birdies I stumbled across that website too, my husbands away for th night tonight, so Im gonna get me some trashy mags, a load of bad carbs...and then settle down for some serious internet shoppin! I cant wait for my tummy to 'pop out' a bit more, at the moment I def look porky rather than pregnant, Im a classic pear shape so have always had a big bum and hips but my saving grace was always my tummy which is normally dead flat.....guess thats game over now! Ah well! :)

allchik · 22/06/2012 15:00

Oh and Ive finally added myself to the list (felt too nervous before!!) Can someone tell me what DC stands for??? Im guessing its how many children you have but can't work it out!? x

Hi Ladies,

Allchick its stands for Dear Children but sometimes I like to use LS (Little Sod) Smile

pgmkt glad your scan went well hun.

Disco good luck for Sunday.

Does anyone else feel like they're middle (from your last few ribs to your belly button) is in a Vice??? I'm not sure what it is but its very very uncomfortable and I've been feeling like this for days. 11+5 here!! Do you think its all my internal bits and bobs moving out the way to make room. It's driving me mad!! Confused

I hate waiting for this scan and am feeling WELL JEL of those few that have had one.......hurry up next friday already!!!!!

SquealyB · 22/06/2012 16:40

disco - all the best for tomorrow. Have been desperately trying to persuade DH that I NEED a private scan for reassurance but he is having none of it and making me wait despite my tantrums.

stormbird I feel your pain. Roll on July 11th (which is frickin ages away meh!)

Keep the good clothing tips coming, I will soon look like the Hulk in my work clothes so need to avoid seam ripping etc.

Pascha · 22/06/2012 17:02

I have just ordered these linen trousers from Seraphine. Will report back next week when they arrive. birdies those trousers look good, I may consider them.

SquealyB · 22/06/2012 17:04

Also meant to report my Serpahine jeans arrived today and feel great. Bump band is massive and nice and silky! Good fit on the bum and legs too. Would recommend.

happyhow · 22/06/2012 19:48

Hi ladies!

I've been away for a week on a school trip and just back in civilisation! I can't believe how many posts I've missed!!

My mother in law has guessed. She asked my hubby last night. Thankfully our scan is on Monday so she doesn't have long to wait before we'll speak to her properly about it. Hubby refused to go into any detail until we'd had the scan.

TootieMaroo · 22/06/2012 22:11

Well, I'm going to get settled back in on this thread now that I've had my 12 week scan today - EDD exactly what we thought it was!

It's been so lovely to read everyone's updates these past few weeks but I've been too nervous to get too excited myself. Other than tiredness and hunger, I haven't had any other symptoms so wasn't sure if the scan today was going to be good news or bad news. Fortunately it was at 11am this morning so we didn't have to wait all day. We saw the little arms and little legs moving around with a lovely little head and body and a thumping heartbeat. It was just gorgeous .

Am loving all the clothing recommendations and must have a look at the sales but am guessing I will probably flop into bed instead with a bag of Doritos. Blush Grin
