Brugmansia · 18/07/2012 11:34

Excellent news Newbie.

I've just had my scan and all was as it should be and due date it's still 31 Jan.

ChutesTooNarrow · 18/07/2012 11:39

Brilliant news newbie

I didn't drink any water until about 10 mins before my appointment BionicEmu, and then I had most of a 1/2 litre bottle of water and that appeared to be fine. My bladder wouldn't cope with any more! Are you driving? Can you just stick a water bottle with a sports cap beside you and have a swig every now and then?

newbie6 · 18/07/2012 11:41

bionicemu - don't think you need a whole pint of water, I normally drink one of the smaller bottles of water and that seemed to be fine? You could always take one in the car with you en route to the hospital?

mummypud - I hope your scan goes well tomorrow, I haven't seen your previous posts so not sure when you say symptoms are less if you mean your pregnancy symptoms but if you do, I have read that they do come and go so not necessarily bad? Sending positive thoughts

x

SilverSixpence · 18/07/2012 11:48

bionicemu I forgot all about drinking water and had already been to the loo in the morning an hour before my appointment! there was no problem doing the scan though.

newbie lovely news!

Pascha · 18/07/2012 11:53

A pint was too much for me and I got sent for a wee mid-scan because there was too much fluid to get a clear picture. I would go with taking a normal size bottle of water with you and aim to finish it as you walk into the hospital.

BuntyCollocks · 18/07/2012 11:58

Excellent news, newbie! Congratulations! :D

CreepyCrawly · 18/07/2012 12:12

So pleased to hear that Newbie!

I had to go for a wee mid-scan too, so I think just a bit of water is ok.

After 5 or 6 days with no morning sickness, it was back today.

octanegirl · 18/07/2012 12:21

So turns out the appointment was basically just a chat and he listened to the heartbeat. Then we talked about c sections vs natural...and that was all. Nice to have a consultant though. I'm going to have a gender scan with him as he does private work also, probably the week after next as I'm 15 weeks today.

Hormonalhell · 18/07/2012 12:49

creepy my nausea has come back too, feeling sorry for myself but not at work so at least can relax

Cant believe i drank 3 1/2 pints Shock no wonder thought was gonna burst !!!

Wont be doing that for 20 week scan

CreepyCrawly · 18/07/2012 13:04

I really thought it had gone!

I think I drank roughly that much too, had to keep letting some out while we were waiting and then had to empty mid-scan too.

Hormonalhell · 18/07/2012 13:06

Yes i did too but today just feeling yukky and eating haribo tangfastic in the hope it will ward it off a bit

Hormonalhell · 18/07/2012 13:07

My EDD date has changed to 15/01, 5 days in front so need to update list too

pmgkt · 18/07/2012 13:12

Just back from 16w check up and I heard the heartbeat which was nice. Ds1 came with me and kept saying baby. He's so cute I could eat him all up.

pmgkt · 18/07/2012 13:14

Newbie Congrats . I had a little tear in my eye reading all was fine. My mw said today that my score was great so I told her that yours was 1 in 7 and she felt very sorry for you too. Now go out and buy baby stuff!

Hormonalhell · 18/07/2012 13:38

Just ordered my pram, am beside myself with excitement Grin

CreepyCrawly · 18/07/2012 13:43

What have you gone for Hormonal?

I liked the look of the Merc S6, in green, online but I recently saw one in the flesh and didn't like it as much.

CreepyCrawly · 18/07/2012 13:45

Ah so exciting pmgkt. I have my 16wk check in a couple of weeks. I imagine it's so surreal actually hearing the heartbeat Grin

EmilieFloge · 18/07/2012 14:02

Newbie I am so, so relieved and pleased for you! Thanks

I can't post much as my computer doesn't cope with long threads, it takes about a minute to type each sentence! But thinking of you all x x x

knuckingfackered · 18/07/2012 14:05

scan done, all fine good luck to other scanners.
Haven't drunk other than normally with any of my scans and no prob.
I dont know why they advise to drink so much as while your in the waiting room all you see is women being taken through and 5 mins later coming out to use loo.
Waste of lube/jelly..........

newbie6 · 18/07/2012 14:26

...I have just bought some maternity clothes from Next - how exciting - feel like a proper pregnant person now, hee hee!

I have not stopped smiling all day, just goes to show how you shouldn't get so worked up over the little things as there are always bigger things to worry about - think I will learn a lesson from my experience :)

So on that note, I hope you are all having a nice relaxing day and the only things we are all stressing about are baby names and accessories, hee hee!

Pascha · 18/07/2012 14:31

Ooh what did you order Hormonal?. We areoffto Bluewater tomorrow to push around somedoubles in JohnLewis and Mothercare. We have our eye on a couple of secondhand ones online buri refuse to buy anything without seeing it in the flesh first. I'm so excited tone going looking! I'm such a saddo

Hormonalhell · 18/07/2012 15:08

pascha its the Silvercross surf pram and pushchair, its £600 but you get the car seat with it which you can fit onto it.

My first baby buy Smile

Lulabel27 · 18/07/2012 15:20

newbie am so pleased for you congratulations, you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy now :)

Sorry i've just been lurking for the last few weeks and not posting - we decided with a heavy heart that our house will be too small for 3 children so put it on the market (this was our dream house only 3 yrs ago!) and it sold a week later! So we've been frantically trying to find a house to move to and hope to get it all done by end of November at latest! Feeling nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. Have also had irrational thoughts like what happens if 20 week scan shows something awful and we don't need a bigger house after all. I think thats hormones...

Got my next scan on 31st Jul (16-17 weeks) to check twins are both ok and same size and will find out sex!! Could be more girls :)

Pascha · 18/07/2012 16:19

Apologies for the awful typing on my phone earlier. Just realised it reads as gibberish Blush

Good choice Smile the Surf looks very nice. I have the Mountain Buggy +one, the Jane Twone and the Babyjogger City Select on my list. DH has the Phil&Teds on his but I'm not keen.

Wow Lula Hope you find the right house soon! Hope your DP isn't frightened by the possibility of an all female household Wink

I tried to get my prepregnancy levis on earlier which I have been wearing a belly band over to hide the gap where I can't do them up and I seem to have 'popped' rather and now the zip won't even begin to do up Shock Guess is maternity wear all the way now.

Looking at the weather forecast for next week I see we are due for 32° next wednesday. Best look out the skirts and shorts from last time round...

eleda · 18/07/2012 16:39

Yay newbie!!! that's fantastic!
And congrats to everyone else who had their scans!
Lulabel good luck with the house hunt - my DB and SIL moved house 2 weeks before she gave birth so it's do-able! And I'm sure you'll find another house that will become your dream home xx
I'm still able to get into my pre-pregnancy stuff (thank goodness as I don't want to have to buy a whole new wordrobe for work as I will be working from home from week 22) but when I get in from the office I have to put something elasticated on! In the morning it all fits fine, but come the evening.....well, let's just say it doesn't!
Pascha any recommendations on single pushchairs? What have you used with DC1? I think I want a 3 wheeler but something I can jog with when I eventually get back on the running wagon get so massive I get desperate!!
