Just spoke to MW on the phone, she doesn't have my results so will chase them up and ring me later. If its all ok I don't need to see her til after the 20 weeks scan so my next appointment will be around 25 August which suits me. Glad your scan was good Mrs B

Sicky feeling is slowly easing now. I'm still throwing up after brushing my teeth though.

pmgkt · 17/07/2012 09:08

chutes i'm the same - they moved my date by 5 days which means i got pregnant when on a period (i have short cycles anyway, and believe me that didnt happen) and also the ovulation tests a week later must have been lying??? plus my first private dating scan agreed with my dates and they had a good view whereas the nhs scan had an awful view and were making the best of what they could with both measuring and Nuchal measurement. Given that just a few milimeters would make all the difference to the dates i'm going to ask them at 20 weeks if they still feel that it is right.

newbie6 · 17/07/2012 09:44

Hi all,

Cannot sleep or stop thinking about the results :( From being positive, I keep visualising me having to tell my DH and family bad news, I'm normally so positive as well. Sounds really stupid but yesterday me and DH were watching the news and the boys name and the girls name we have chosen came up within 10 minutes of each other and they are not massively common names so have convinced myself this is a positive 'sign' - think I may need to be put in a padded cell after this!

Wish I hadn't been told the call could come today or tomorrow as I feel so sick! Probably a mixture of pregnancy sickness plus worry, my lovely acid heartburn has returned too - the joys!

I also keep reading about pregnant celebrities (the joys of taking things easy after the CVS has meant I have every trashy magazine known to man!)...anyway - seeing these bloomin celebrities glowing makes me feel jealous which is awful of me!! I want to tell everyone I'm pregnant so badly but I can't and normally at 13 weeks they say you can maybe start telling people but I feel like until I know, I can't breathe a word and if it is isn't good news, they will never have known and that makes me so sad.

Sorry for going on, think I just need to air my feelings right now. Deep down, I feel everything is going to be okay so am praying someone is looking out for me up there as I can't honestly think about the alternative :(

Right - away to slap myself and get a grip, if only I could drink right now :)

Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well and thanks again for listening

x

EmilieFloge · 17/07/2012 09:58

Hello,

I've only just found this thread, been looking for a January one! And the first message I saw was yours, Newbie. I am so sorry that you are going through this and I hope that you get some good news today.

I'm due on 7th January and am waiting for the results of the quad test, which they did last Thursday because they said the baby is too far on to measure the Nuchal fold. I am a bit worried as I'm 38. But anyway, lots of luck and love to you Newbie. xx

newbie6 · 17/07/2012 10:07

Thanks EmilieFloge and am annoyed at myself that mine was the first you saw, this is a great thread and for what it is worth I am sure your results will be fine. I am also diabetic so that skews your results too so trust me when I say, I'm sure for the majority of women, results are fine and I hope everything is good for you and your wee bundle too :)

I have been lurking on this thread for a while and it is very comforting to share experience with other women who you know are at similar stages to you. Also been a massive support when things don't always go as planned so hope you enjoy it!

Lots of luck with your pregnancy....and 38 is young :)

x

EmilieFloge · 17/07/2012 10:10

Oh goodness, please don't feel bad, I had a quick glance through and can see what a lovely thread it is - and how supportive everyone is of one another. I also recognise a few people from conception threads Smile

Keeping you in mind today. Take things easy if you can xx

eleda · 17/07/2012 10:22

Oh newbie, you certainly do not need a padded cell! It is only natural to read into everything and anything when you're going through such a stressful time. It's not exactly a common situation so you deal with it however you need to - hopefully you'll never need to go through it again so whatever helps, you do it!
I would totally have taken your names coming up as a good sign so don't think you're mad!
I haven't been through what you're going through so I can't give you any words of advice but just know that we're all here with you.
I have no cervix because of earlier cervical cancer and I have a massive risk of late miscarriage or early labour so every week is a count down until 28 weeks when if it happens, our baby could survive and I am seeing signs in everything I do and every little thing that people say. If is enough to drive you mad but if it helps.....
And with regards to telling people - the way I see it is tell anyone that you might want to know if the worst happens. You can then use them as your support network. If it would make things worse to tell someone the bad news, then don't tell them the good news.
My DH has told virtually everyone he knows (bless him - he's so excited) but I have made it very clear to him that if things go wrong it will be his job to tell them the bad news and to tell them to stay away as I would not want people being over sympathetic and would want to be left alone.
Don't feel bad about doing what is best for you!
Not too long to wait so stay strong and lots of hugs and prayers coming your way xxx

eleda · 17/07/2012 10:23

ooh and Emilie - fingers and toes crossed for your results too x

MrsMallard · 17/07/2012 10:29

Welcome Emilie and I hope you receive good news from your quad test. Do you know when you might get the results?

Morning newbie - have a big hug from me. I can't possibly say that I know what it feels like to be waiting for your results but I can totally empathise with the desire for a healthy baby and to be able to tell everyone the exciting news. Try to keep up the positive thoughts and be kind to yourself - you've been fantastic. I work from home so I'll be around all day if you'd like someone to chat to. xx

EmilieFloge · 17/07/2012 10:31

Thankyou so much Eleda, I will be hoping with all my might that you reach that milestone, and beyond xx

EmilieFloge · 17/07/2012 10:34

Thankyou for the welcome, MrsMallard, I've been told that they know within about three days and will call if there is a problem...my midwife's phone is normally off, well it is this morning as well so I will just have to sit tight.

Best go and do some housework I think! Be back later on x

SquealyB · 17/07/2012 11:10

Hi all

Sorry for dropping off the face of the cyber-planet. Work has been horrendously busy the last week (think 2 am finishes) and has FINALLY calmed down a little bit so of course I am back on here.

Newbie my heart goes out to you. Will be thinking of you over the next few days in particular. Still a very very good chance it is good news.

How is everyone else doing?

Birdies · 17/07/2012 11:38

Welcome emilie

Newbie also thinking of you today.

Bunty sssh I justified the extra scan to DH saying it's double confirmation so I'm trying to stick to my story lol! Ours definitely didn't have a willy. Still, will be nice to have it confirmed again at the 20 week scan. A bit annoyed with myself though as I had an anterior placenta too last time and I forgot to ask about it this time.

newbie6 · 17/07/2012 12:19

thanks MrsMallard - I work from home too so trying to distract myself but its not working :)

Keep thinking that this time tomorrow we will know what we are dealing with, genuinely don't think I will get a call today so just need to stay positive until tomorrow and try and watch more rubbish TV to keep my mind occupied.

thanks again everyone x

mrsbugsywugsy · 17/07/2012 12:39

hello everyone

Newbie I am thinking of you today and really hope you get good news.

Welcome emilie

Squealy I have no idea how you are doing it, I am in bed by nine every night!

I've also been getting the pains everyone talks about - if I sneeze or stretch or sometimes when I roll over in bed

I went out last night to celebrate having the scan, I went to my favourite restaurant and ordered tons of food and could only eat about half of it Blush. Also ordered a small glass of wine, my first alcohol since finding out I am pregnant, and could only drink a few sips. And I used to be such a booze hound!

Everything looked good at my scan but I have to wait to get the blood test results. The midwife said I would know by the end of Thursday if it showed I was high risk so I am just hoping the phone doesn't ring. Newbie I can't imagine how hard it must be for you.

I've updated the list and added Emilie. Good luck to those with scans today.

Newbie, thinking of you. Don't work too hard - be good to yourself.

MrsMallard how cute that the baby did a somersault! Looking forward to my next scan as to be honest I didn't see much at the 10.4weeks one.

Silversixpence I know what it can be like with job uncertainty - I have several jobs at the moment but none will offer maternity pay so it'll be statutory maternity pay for me - you'll be entitled to that to.

SquealyB · 17/07/2012 14:05

Welcome emilie

Mrsb - I did the same thing after my scan and order a glass of red wine which I could not drink. Pre-pregnancy it was my favourite tipple and had been so looking forward to it.

On the work front - I knew it was just for a short period so that made it bearable but it was not fun Sad and I certainly could do without a repeat any time soon.

DH and I are now engaged in the great name debate and would welcome views from you all (as we are not telling anyone we "know" in advance).

Boys front runners - Ardan or Logan

Girls front runners - Casey (although DH says it is a boys name), Gina or Eden

It is quite hard to pick!! We thought we had decided but keep revisiting.

CreepyCrawly · 17/07/2012 14:16

Welcome Emilie

Thinking of you too, Newbie. I can't imagine what you must be going through. Fingers crossed for you.

Squealy, I like Ardan, Casey and Eden. They're all lovely though.

I think we're settled on names :)

MamaMary · 17/07/2012 14:24

Squealy, I complain about work sometimes but working till 2am gosh - you're amazing!

I love the name Gina - hmmmm might add it to my girls' list - hope you don't mind! Also really love Eden but it's a bit far out for my traditional side [timid]

SquealyB · 17/07/2012 14:27

Creepy - Thanks, I amrather jealous!! Are you telling Wink?

We keep going through the names we like and then trying to come up with the terrible nicknames our kids woudl get at school. Which is fun but we are distubingly inventive Grin

SquealyB · 17/07/2012 14:29

mama - of course not!!

That is why it is "safe" to talk names on Mumsnet as no risk of your best mate saying, "But I always wanted to name DD "gina"" etc.

Lora1982 · 17/07/2012 14:31

Helloooooo :-D so first off squealy how on EARTH do you manage to keep going til 2??!?

had my 2nd midwife thing today.. apparently im all free of germs no hiv/aids etc just hafto take asprin because im fat got a high bmi. we heard the baby it was having a whale of a time again. moving around and not staying still so the poor woman poking me hard with the doppler had trouble keeping it there long enough to count the hb. she says its a girl if its moving that much... also another factoid apparently they are likely to have their legs crossed if they are moving as much as mine was.

Anyway have a good day all :-D xxx

pmgkt · 17/07/2012 14:46

birdies have you checked your scan notes, the placenta postion is noted on mine as they have to check it out.

CreepyCrawly · 17/07/2012 14:52

Squealy, I'm pretty positive we're settled on Joseph or Nancy.

MrsMallard · 17/07/2012 15:28

Afternoon everyone!

Squealy, wow, just reading how busy you've been makes me feel tired! I thought I'd come out the other side of feeling excessively tired but apparently not - I could quite happily go to bed now.

How are you getting on this afternoon, newbie, and how's the TV working out for you? I hope you've found plenty of mindless programmes to keep you amused. Smile

I'm pleased your scan went well, bugsy, and I hope your results are good when they come through.

The wine stories sound familiar... I wondered how I was going to cope without having a drink for the first trimester but anytime I've been near someone drinking wine I've felt a bit sick and really not fancied any. Small mercies!

I'm very impressed with those of you who have whittled down your name choices already - we haven't even got a long-list yet, nevermind a shortlist, although I think we've both held back thinking too much in real terms until we have the nuchal/blood results.
