Morning ladies!

Thanks for the good wishes for today's scans. I had mine this morning and it was a lovely experience. The sonographer picked up a brilliant view of our baby straight away although it didn't want to move into a position to allow her to take the NT measurement. Instead I had to lift my hips up off the bed and give it a good shake around! Poor thing had a shock and had done a head to toe somersault to face the other direction when we saw it again. The NT measurement is 1.2mm, which seems very good although of course we've got to wait for the blood and age adjusted result, which could be interesting given that I'm classed as being quite old! Apparently I may have to wait up to a week to receive not so good news (which seems like quite a long time) and up to two weeks for good news. What are other people's experiences of waiting times to receive news?

Hi mrsbugsywugsy, I hope all goes as well for you this afternoon. I was a mixture of excited and nervous on the way there but as soon as we saw the baby I was grinning like a mad woman and I'm sure my husband had a tear in his eye! My due date has been brought back a day too so I'm currently expecting the same day as you now although I'm guessing that could change this afternoon!

newbie6 thinking of you today and while you wait for your results - I hope the CVS is really straightforward and that you're well looked after.

Creepy its more of a risk to you. The weight of the baby rests on a nerve when you lie on your back which can make you dizzy and faint. I think it gets more of a problem as you get bigger as it gets heavier. I also lay on my back and no problems so far. You do need to be careful that you don't rely on your tummy to pull you up though as that can be dangerous, rather roll onto your side and push up with your arms or roll off the bed.

Newbie - thinking of you today. Fingers crossed you are one of the 5 in 6.

We also went to babybond, and the sonographer was confident she is a girl, we also have a picture of the 3 lines - there were no boy parts! We will get double confirmation at the 20 week scan, but I am confident in babybond - they have over a 99% accuracy rate, and if they're not certain, they'll bring you back for a free rescan.

I also subscribe to the nub theory, and our little girls nub was definitely girly! To be honest, it's been a very girly pregnancy so far in regard to old wives tales etc - I am a walking example! DS was a textbook boy pregnancy, and this has been textbook what they say is a 'girl' pregnancy (lots of morning sickness, looking like shite, hair on legs stopped growing, dull urine, left sided implantation pains, bigger left boob than right ... I hit almost every one!).

Hello. Good luck messages all round to MrsB for this afternoon and Hormonal for tomorrow, and especially to Newbie - fingers still crossed for you here.

MrsM i've never had to jiggle in a scan, that must have been fun! I'm waiting til the 20 week scan for my update, I may or may not tell you what we know . We aren't telling anyone else if we do find out the sex, they can all guess just like last time.

I still haven't had my blood results back and the MW phone is switched off so she's obviously off duty or away. I might give the duty MW a call tomorrow if I still can't get hold of my own lovely lady. I'm 16+1 today, it will be a month tomorrow since the nuchal scan and blood test so my bet is that the lab have probably lost it and the MW hasn't yet picked up its not come back. She is supposed to ring me to make the 16 week appt when she has the result. - guess she'll be doing another sunday morning visit as the A/N clinic is booked for the next couple of weeks...

Thanks pgm, that's great to know. I turn onto my sides and then wake up on my back, whereas I've never been comfortable sleeping on my back before.

I had my scan on friday. All looks good, really wriggly baby trying to do somersaults. I chose not to have nuchal check and blood tests. The scan puts me due on Jan 14th, however I am not convinced as I was tracking ovulation when ttc and that doesn't seem realistic. So I will leave my due date as it is for now. I will be telling most friends and family I am due the end of Jan, by Feb, and won't be committing to a due date so there can't be any hysteria over the baby being 'late'.

I've had to jiggle before in a scan and then go and jump up and down in the corridor as DS was tucked up in my ribs for my 20 week scan and refusing to move. Had to go back a week later for another scan in the end.

How exciting to those who know they are having girls! I am still trying to decide if I want to find out the gender at my 20 week scan or not. I probably will to help us prepare DS for a brother or sister.

Thanks for all your messages of support, means a lot. Well, had the procedure and all went fine. I didn't find it too bad so just need to wait till Wed now for the results. God, don't know how I'm going to last till then but don't suppose I have a choice and hopefully all good things come to those that wait? My mantra is I will be in the 85% as opposed to the 15%, sounds much better than 1 in 7 :)

Oh I'm just waiting for MIL to arrive so I can put the full caffeine strong black coffee in the cafetiere. I had pate on toast for breakfast as well. Living on the edge, me There is a banana loaf cooling on the rack to go with the coffee so I hope she gets here soon.

had my scan today, was 12+6 by dates and also measured 12+6 by scan measurements! had a nice sonographer, showed us all the body parts (everything looks ok) and let us choose our pictures. Had left DS at home with my brother and he enjoyed seeing the photos which was lovely.

Have had a busy weekend making a birthday cake for DS. We had a big family dinner party yesterday and DH's aunt guessed and asked in front of everyone if I was pregnant I wanted to keep it quiet til after the scan but there was no getting away, so thank goodness the scan was fine!

When is everyone telling work or have you told them already? Not sure how long to leave it, but its fairly obvious now and my contract finishes in October so won't affect them anyway. I don't get any maternity pay though which is annoying! I could try and get another job but can do supply type work and take it easy until baby's due instead - in two minds..

LOVE all the stories of people having to have a wiggle to get their baby into a diferent position, thats so cute! Never really thought about the fact their still quite small ina huge ball of water so I guess they do shake around a bit!:)

Very exciting to hear all the gender results too! Weve decided to wait and have a suprise, but it is very tempting to find out! I kinda have a feeling it will be a boy....dont know why I just do. There was no nub on my 11.5 scan picture to analyse so will have a good nose at my 20 week one instead!

Ive got my 16 wk midwife check next week, can anyone tell me what he will do??? I know i get to hear the babies heartbeat :) :) :) do you know what else happens?

They will listen for the heartbeat, yes. They can't always hear it well at this stage though so don't be disappointed if they can't. Last time my midwife went through the difference between the cord pulse and the heartbeat and you can really tell, the cord is like a gentle wave of sound, woosh woosh woosh; and the heartbeat is the same beat but very strong and thump thump thump.

Other than that its just wee and blood pressure, check you're feeling ok, go through blood results if you haven't already and general chat. You should be in and out in 10 minutes max.

Hasnt anyone felt movement yet? I know i def have its right low down near my pubic bone, i felt it there with my other two! Its diff to wind too.

Does it hurt anyone right at bottom of tummy when you sneeze, have to pull my legs up to stop it hurting.

just a quick update as i'm on my phone. All looked good on the scan, have to wait for blood test results but the nuchal fold measurement was 1.1mm which sounds quite small. new edd is 25th jan.

I get those pains with sneezing and coughing. I don't get them everyday but they've been bad today.

We're not going to find out the sex. As it's our first, we're going for the surprise!!

I'm still exhausted. I've not had any other symptoms though so I'm not complaining too much. I'm on holiday too so it doesn't matter if I want a nap!

I've also kinda lost the need to tell people. we were out with friends last night and we didn't say anything! It was a birthday meal and nobody questioned me not drinking - which is very unusual so I didn't bring it up! Anyone else feeling that way? I'm thinking now that all the 'important' people know, I'll stick something on Facebook to mop up the others...

Happyhow and hormonalhell I get the pains too sometimes if I'm desperate for a wee in the morning as well

Yes hormonal I'm getting lots of movement and it is getting more frequent and easy to feel. But then my date is 28th Dec although I think 2nd Jan due to doing ov tests.
I'm also getting those pains and a stitch type pain when I have overdone it lifting ds1. I have mw on wedn

chutes I'm exactly the same, my EDD puts conception 5 days before ovulation... When I've said it's due late Jan rather than giving a specific date people have been a bit shocked and said 'don't you know?!'. Well yes actually I do thanks, but the hospital doesn't seem to and the baby certainly won't!
