Fab news spring! How lovely baby was sucking its thumb!

Mine all good too :) very wriggly! Nuchal low, just waiting for blood tests now which they'll give me today. Due date is spot on 18.01.13, a week before my birthday!

SpringFlowers · 09/07/2012 11:42

That's fab Tugs. Do you get your results today? They were very evasive about my combined test results. If there is a problem they will call me this week probably within 48 hours. If it's all ok I won't hear for a couple of weeks. What is everyone else's experience?

octanegirl · 09/07/2012 12:26

Thanks pmgkt. I think I've just developed a paunch in that case!
I'm still not great. It's all still pretty raw but my friends are being very sweet. Still haven't heard a peep out of the boy though. Staggering how he can be so callous.

theboutiquemummy · 09/07/2012 12:40

on a rather POO POO note anyone else backed up really badly ? I resorted to senna and fruit smoothies I was feeling so bad.

Tugstonia · 09/07/2012 13:01

Yeah spring got my blood results today, which I'm surprised about as most other people I know had to wait a week or more.

I'm confused now by the combined results. The downs risk is 1:7477, then it says the 'adjusted risk for Trisomy 13/18 is 1:398' whereas just based on my age (33) it was 1:680. The doctor just said "all looks ok and consistent with the scan" so didn't even look through the report until just now and now wondering WTF the Trisomy 13/18 risk is?? Does anyone know?

BuntyCollocks · 09/07/2012 13:09

Congrats on all the scans :)

Tugs I think 13/18 are Edwards and Patau syndromes. Still low risk, I wouldn't worry :)

Gender scan is creeping closer, only 5 days to go ... I am so incredibly nervous! I have all but convinced myself it's a girl now, despite previously saying it was a boy, and I'm worried that although I will be over the moon with either (would love to see DS's little newborn things filled again!), I will mourn 'losing her' if baby is a boy, if you know what I mean?

It doesn't help that DH has said that he probably doesn't want another, and I really, really can't see myself never having a girl. Other people's children are lovely, but they are other people's, even if they're family.

To be honest, even if this is a girl, I still want another, a little boy to round things off. The thought of never seeing those little clothes worn again by a baby of mine is heartbreaking...

pmgkt · 09/07/2012 13:32

Octane I can't believe you haven't heard from him. Men really do bury their heads in the sand don't they. Glad you have good friends.

Bunty after ds1 we said no more, I have step kids too, but look at us now. So maybe after this one is born he may change his mind too.

SquealyB · 09/07/2012 13:58

spring and tugs so happy for your both.

octance - wow, you poor thing. Maybe he is taking some space and will crawl back with his tail between his legs. You never know. Do you have any mutual friends you can talk to pump for information to see how he is doing. Glad your friends are being great.

Never say never on the more babies front. bunty I do hope the scan goes the way you want it to.

Tugstonia · 09/07/2012 14:56

Thanks Bunty - will calm down now!

OH said he thinks it looks like a boy... quite how he can tell that I don't know. We're not going to find out til D-day so we've got a lot of time to speculate.

Octane hope you're doing ok. What a total shit he is. V glad you have some good friends around you.

Boutique yes I too am rather backed up in the poo department. I went crazy on the dried apricots and prunes and it seems to have helped, although they also cause pretty spectacular wind - OH not impressed! :o

Pascha · 09/07/2012 15:54

Octane What a rubbish situation for you. Hope you're managing ok. We're always here for a chat if you need it.

Do those of you who have had their nuchal scan all have your blood results back? I was told it would take 3 weeks and the MW will ring me to arrange the next appointment when she gets them. Its 3 weeks tomorrow.

I am very jealous of the gender scan, Bunty. I will definitely be finding out at the 20 week scan and then annoying all my relatives by refusing to divulge Grin Don't know what we'll do for names if its a boy as we used our only mutually agreeable option last time round. Girl name is set in stone.

No backed up poo here, its all flowing freely...

BuntyCollocks · 09/07/2012 16:02

I am worried about names, too, pascha

DH has some dreadful taste ... I think I'll get my way with the girls name I am leaning toward, but my boy's name are a bit harder to push.

Pascha · 09/07/2012 16:17

My DH doesn't have dreadful taste, just the names he likes are very very common (every second child, type of thing). I favour longer names with lots of options for shorts. He just likes the sound of certain ones, regardless of suitability, going with surname, how many other children have the same name etc.

Obviously he's wrong and I'm right Wink I just have to persuade him of that. Unless its a girl when it won't matter.

Birdies · 09/07/2012 17:09

I'm struggling with boys names too. I like unusual names but I think it's much easier to get away with them with a girl than it is for a boy. I'd be thrilled just to have a healthy baby this time but I think it might be nice for my DD to have a little sister. But then I'll be really hoping for a boy when it comes to the third. Anyways, we have our gender scan in 5 days too, can't wait.

Anyone else not feeling pregnant again? I always ask this but I keep thinking what if something's gone wrong etc. I thought I felt movements weeks ago but nothing recently, so wondering if that was wind!

Newbie that's great - no news is definitely good news when it comes to the nuchal scan.

Is everyone eating really healthily?

Pascha · 09/07/2012 17:18

I have had 3 mini magnums today Blush

SquealyB · 09/07/2012 17:27

We are pretty much agreed on our favourite girls and boys names. I suppose it is easier with your first as you have not used your favourites yet! Which is very exciting.

pascha - they were mini magnums and therefore do not count.

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/07/2012 18:45

DP and I have picked a boy's name and a girl's name. He wasn't very good at coming up with ideas, so I kept making suggestions and he picked which ones he liked. Those of you who aren't married, whose surname will your baby have? I think we have decided on his name, because it is uncommon and in danger of dying out (he has no brothers or male cousins). But in return I will get to choose a middle name after someone in my family.

I feel like my symptoms are easing off, but I'm not yet getting fat or had a scan. So I don't feel very pregnant at the moment.

I'm really craving vinegary food at the moment. Pickles, salt and vinegar crisps and so on.

Birdies I can barely remember what a vegetable looks like, unless you count the ones in Branston pickle!

CreepyCrawly · 09/07/2012 20:49

We've got a definite girls name. We can only agree on one boys name, and it's the name of three of our friends! At least there's no favouritism if we use it!

Lora1982 · 09/07/2012 21:08

bugsy im not married and both mine and the bfs names are pretty rare... we were thinking about using both but the poor soul will have the longest name in history so im not sure what to do now!

im not feeling pregnant at ALL and didnt think i was showing a bump yet but my peeps in the know at work think its obvious so perhaps it is and my plan of making everyone else too embaressed to check....just incase im just fat... is working a treat.

poo is a pain in the arse.... literally. grape fruit juice is my best friend this week.

octane im fingers crossed that the crappyness your going through sorts itself out soon. are you hopeful he'll change or do you think its really finished? xxxx

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/07/2012 21:37

Lora, if hyphenating doesn't work, can you have one surname as a middle name? Otherwise, one idea I had is that the baby could have my name if it is a girl, or DP's if it's a boy? Although you could end up with kids with different names.

In other news I am going to Hard Rock Calling this weekend, I'm not camping but does anyone have any tips for surviving a festival while pregnant? I'm planning to take a shewee and avoid the moshpit. Do you think they'd let me use the disabled loos?

knuckingfackered · 09/07/2012 22:22

re the poo strain......
snack on grapes, an apple a day, lots of water and if you can cope prune juice.

allchik · 10/07/2012 07:43

RRAAAAHHHHH! Had to call in sick again this morning (3rd day since found I was pregnant is that bad???) Really bad vomming this morning (nice) but whats worse is the stinker of a headache it leaves me with :(
Really getting sick of feeling so drained and sick and headachy... Really hoping this stage passes soon......sorry for the negativity....rant over! ;)

mrsbugsywugsy · 10/07/2012 08:49

Don't worry allchik all of our pregnancies are different and if you are sick then you will be no use at work. Make sure you drink plenty of water and get some rest Smile

I'm eating dried figs in my breakfast cereal right now!

Pascha · 10/07/2012 08:58

Sad Allchik. Thats much worse than my constant nausea. Does it ease up over the day? Mine is worse in the evening, or any time after a meal.

A bit Envy at Hard Rock Calling. Keep Andrex moist tissues and hand gel next to the shewee and you're good to go on the loo front. Use the loos as far away from the stage or entrance as possible as they might be just a little bit less used. Bung yourself up good and proper so you don't need to go all weekend

Who are you aiming to see?

newbie6 · 10/07/2012 09:10

Hi all,

Just wanted to respond to the question about nuchal test results, I got my scan and bloods taken on the same day (last Wed) and wasn't told anything, I had to force the sonographer to tell me the measurement as she told me the measurement means nothing without the bloods when calculating the risk? Anyway - they told me it would take about a week for the results and if there was a high risk, I would get a call by end of today....as you can probably imagine - I am climbing the walls today and need to go out for meetings when I just want to be glued to the phone! Grrrrrrrrrr, wish I was a patient person :(

Hope everyone else is well!

xx
