Has my scan this morning, was quite nervous! All is well, baby wouldn't keep still! New EDD is 12th January - please would someone kindly amend me on the list. Must be lots of scans coming up over the next week or two

I'm still waiting for the sickness to subside and my energy levels to return - hope its soon as feel like I've got loads to do xx

OK so Baby bond scan was last Sun and FINALLY bloody miracle, the NHS scan date is next Weds at 10am -don't feel quite so desperate on account of the one i had last Sun but relieved to finally get it done.

No idea how to update the list so if anyone is planning on doing it soon, could they update for me - age =35

octane I'm so sorry to hear about your DP. Hopefully it's just a case of him being a bit overwhelmed at the moment. If not then he can still be a good father if he wants to be. Sorry, I don't really know what to say other than I'm so sorry to hear this!

Congrats to everyone who's had scans, is it seeming a bit more real now? Mine's not until 2 weeks tomorrow, so still got a while to wait.

octane i'm so sorry, hopefully this will just be a blip and when he gets his head round it he'll be back. Crap in the meantime but this is probably such a big shock and now its sinking in he's panicking. It might be helpful to post on relationships as i know there's a lot of good advice there....

brugs i'm sorry about my insensitivity, i missed your post but definitely call the midwife and see what she says. I think if the bleeding has stopped thats a good thing and the fact you have no cramps as well is positive. Keep positive thoughts and let us know how you get on.

Octane so sorry your DP is being shit. Hopefully he is just having a panic and will come around, but if not please don't worry, lots of women do it by themselves and you can do it too. Do you have friends or family close by?

Lora I hope you have sorted things out with your boyfriend. Could you ask him to compromise and just give up smoking (not drinking)? As that will have more impact on the baby's health. My DP is definitely drinking less just because we aren't going out much but he still has a beer or two every few days.

Lora my hubby and I went to his sisters wedding on Sat. I came in early (about 11) as felt a bit rubbish and was shattered....he stayed out which was fine by me.....what was a bit less fine was a knock on the hotel door at 1am to find my hubby being propped up by his brother with puke down his shirt! Nice!! In the morning he got a right telling off! (although the payback was at the breakfast buffy where I made sure I tucked into lots of eggs infront of him wa ha ha!)
Octane I really hope ur feeling ok? I know its easier said than done but at the moment you have to focus on you and the baby...make sure your getting lots of cuddles from your friends and that you are able to rant to them when needed!
Good luck for your scan boutique and brugs I hope ur ok? My sister had a gush of red blood fairly early and she even passed a load of clots and then continued to bleed on and off throughout and she was fine (infact her baby was a 10ponder eek!) x

Hello all!

Had my scan yesterday (11 + 1)and the nuchal test but they wouldn't tell me anything as I need to wait for blood results too which could be up to a week so now have to wait :( Hoping all will be okay but if we do come back high risk, guess we will just need to deal with it. I'm very impatient so not good and doesn't help looking things up on the internet, I'm a nightmare!

Does anyone know what measurements for the nuchal scan are deemed within the normal range? I know they combine that with your bloods to give you a more accurate result but just wondered if anyone knew? Mine was 2.9mm??

Lulabel, how did you find out you were having twins before scan? Did you just know, I am almost 12 weeks and to be honest I look about 5 months!!! Everyone keeps saying to me "bet its twins" and to be honest this pregnancy has been nothing like my other two, everything has been twice as bad, nausea, tiredness, sore boobs. Might be cos I am ten years older tho

You can't take one part of the nuchal without the other, so there's no point in speculating, as you can have a high fold measurement, but your bloods negate the higher risk, or a low fold measurement, but shocking bloods!

I think they say anything below 3mm is ok.

I got my results on Tuesday, I had a nuchal fold measurement of 1.7 (ds was 1.4), and the combined result was 1:14000 (ds was 1:10000), so my risk, despite having a higher nuchal fold, was actually lower than with my ds.

Newbie I think that is a little high for 11+1. However you should really try not to panic. The hospital will combine your age, the nt result and your blood results to come up with an overall risk. If you can afford it I believe that a private clinic will do the nt and blood and give you the results straight away (although you would need to check).

I've copied this from the internet:

An NT measurement of up to 2mm is normal at about 11 weeks, and up to about 2.8mm by 13 weeks and six days. An increased NT does not mean there is definitely a problem. Some babies without Down's have increased fluid, too. Nine out of 10 babies with a measurement between 2.5mm and 3.5mm will be completely normal.

9/10 babies is very high. It might be worth telephoning your midwife too to try to seek reassurance. Where I live, if there is a problem they contact you within 48 hours so you could push for your results to be given to you more quickly.

I hope you're ok, try to stay calm, in all probability it will be ok x

The 'risk' for downs is a strange thing really. At my age my risk is high (1 in 500). But 1 in 500 is not very likely if you see what I mean. I hope that a low nt measurement will reduce my risk but I'm starting from a disadvantage!

As you are only 11+1 you could also ask for them to do the scan and rest again in two weeks and see what the measurement is then.

Brugs how are you getting on today? I hope you've not had any further bleeding. Have you been to epu? You should probably get checked out.

Octane I am so sorry you are having a tough time. Try to take really good care of yourself and the baby - s/he is the most important thing right now. Your do is an idiot giving up the chance to live with his child and he has not really treated you well. I hope you have some good friends to help you. How are things today?

Has anyone else developed a rather hairy tummy?!

Had the midwife round this afternoon as I had to have another blood test. My dad had thrombosis last year so they wanted to see if I'm at risk of clots. Should be alright though, as his dvt was a direct result of heart surgery. Has anyone else been put on I can't remember the name of it, for possible risk of clotting? I may have to have it also because my BMI is 31. Midwife was surprised at this as I don't really look overweight, I just have massive boobs and hips. BMI is depressing :(

I'm tired and nauseous on and off but not really feeling that pregnant at the moment. My jeans fit again after a week of swimming everyday. Sigh. Wish I could keep that up but with a busy worklife and busy husband I know it's not going to happen.

Busy husband meaning he's busy in the evenings so I can't go off and exercise then.

Don't mention misbeahving other halves - mine does my head in at times (mostly because I am very jealous that he can still go out and have fun while I am on the water)

I need to get back to exercising again - had a great routine going but preg. tiredness put paid to that. Feeling a little less like I am going to passs out from tiredness every day so going to see if I can get back into a good routine.

Creepy - feeling you on the BMI. My midwife was shocked that mine was over 30 too -again it is the massive knockers that do it.

And speaking of knockers - weird symptoms of the day today is..... itchy nipples. Trying to surrupticiously itch with my side of my arm but sure my trainee is on to me !
