Birdies · 03/07/2012 16:37

'news' I mean

SpringFlowers · 03/07/2012 17:05

Ah Birdie, good choice. How old will your children be? My dh is very impressed by the technology so I think we will probably get one too. The re-sale value is good I think .

Birdies · 03/07/2012 18:09

My DD will be 18 months. I just love the look of it and the colours are great - and the fact you can have a different colour on the cot base so if you have a girl and a boy can have the right colours for them. I did a lot of research (a bit early but I couldn't help it!) and I couldn't see any other that was as flexible as this - so both forward and back facing, side by side, can convert to one. It's great, I have to have it!!

When will you get yours? I think I'll leave it until much nearer the time, although I don't know how long they take to arrive after ordering.

BuntyCollocks · 03/07/2012 18:35

So sorry, dontmind :(

pascha I agree about maternity clothes and breastfeeding tops. Although I have a gooooorgeous dress for a wedding from Isabella Oliver. Pricey but worth it.

I am having a gender scan - week on Saturday! Can't wait.

I've popped on to in gender and gender dreaming as my scan had what looks like a very visible nub, and I'm getting mostly girl guesses - eek! I can't wait to find out!

knuckingfackered · 03/07/2012 19:13

bunty I think they all have a nub when very immature its just whether it points up (boy) or down (girl)

ChutesTooNarrow · 03/07/2012 19:17

Ooh yes I also agree about breastfeeding tops, I never bothered with them. Top up or down as pasha said and I also wore a vest top underneath for a little extra coverage. I didn't even bother with breastfeeding bras with clips after about three months. Maternity clothes wise I had a fab pair of underbump flared jeans from Next, and leggings and cut-off combats from h&m. All my tops and dresses were non-maternity, just bigger and cheaper!

I found wrap dresses work really well with bumps if you need something nice for a do. I did a posh ball at seven months and people were too transfixed by the bump to care what I was wearing. I did lust after Isabella Oliver dresses though!

Birdies · 03/07/2012 19:25

Bunty me too! A week on Sunday. Never thought i'd want to find out early but I can't wait (and with a DD already I'd like to be organised before my baby arrives). What's 'gender dreaming'?!

Pascha · 03/07/2012 19:57

I think I might have to wait til nearer the time to pick a posh dress. I just can't see myself in anything online. All the kneelength ones look like tents when you see them side-on and the maxis will all trail on the floor (criminally short legs). I will be about 27 weeks by the wedding.

I am really quite Envy at the gender scans Bunty and Birdie. I was happy to wait til the 20 week scan but now I'm impatient. If Thingy doesn't show us then I might consider paying for one maybe.

I've had to order a size smaller of those Seraphine linen trousers, they don't fit nicely in the 12 so we will soon see if I just ordered too big or if they are a bit rubbish.

I am now going looking for a nub on my pics...

SpringFlowers · 03/07/2012 20:04

My next jeans have arrived and they are yummy. Really comfy, a good fit and neither too short or long. They don't fall down and I can see them growing with me. Highly recommended.

Wow, gender scans already?! Still waiting for my 12 week one! I have found out with all of my children but we think we might have a surprise this time. Although the poor thing will be in trouble if he's a boy as with three girls I don't have a lot in blue.

Birdie - I'm not sure of the availability of the donkey. I'd like to wait until after the 20 week scan though before buying. I think it is the most brilliant pram! I had started looking when I was about, um, four weeks I think Blush

MamaMary · 03/07/2012 20:09

How soon can the gender be detected in a scan?

The Bugaboo - sounds lovely, don't think our budget will stretch though! We will need a double buggy as DD is not a great walker (she still prefers to be carried a lot of the time Blush - she's 23mo.

SpringFlowers · 03/07/2012 20:17

One of my friends found out the sex of her baby at her twelve week scan. She did go private so I don't know if they had a better scanner that could zoom in more closely. It was correct. I think it is easier to detect a boy as you are looking for something rather than for the absence of something.

Dd is quite a good walker but when she's had enough that is it. A double pram will be great for a while I think. I will be able to go further to start with

BuntyCollocks · 03/07/2012 20:19

Babybond do gender scans from 16 weeks, mama. Most other places 18 weeks.

knucking - yes, am quite clued up on nub theory ;) a bit obsessed actually! If my scan was someone else's I'd be certain with a girl guess, but don't want to get my hopes up/jinx it, if that makes sense!

I'm pretty good with nub guessing, if anyone wants me to have a look.

birdies how exciting! Can't wait to see what colour your bump is! Gender dreaming is another gender guessing/swaying site.

pascha come over to the dark side ... We have cake and gender specific clothing :p

Birdies · 03/07/2012 20:23

With Babybond it's 16 weeks. I still think I'm a week less but they said if they can't tell if it's a boy or a girl you can come back for a free scan. They also do 3D and 4D scans (moving ones!) so I thought we'd treat ourselves as we didn't have those with DD.

Birdies · 03/07/2012 20:24

X posted with bunty. "nub guessing" lol!

kim222 · 03/07/2012 20:42

Just posted and think it disappeared :(

Had my 12 week scan yesterday and baby was laying on it's tummy! Very weird scan pic, all okay though, had a 10 min scan appt very impersonal compared to baby bond one. Nausea is easing up slightlynow, yey!

Due date has been changed to 10th Jan

Hope everyone is well and so sorry to those ladies having sad times x

happyhow · 03/07/2012 20:54

I'd quite like the Donkey in that it can be extended for when I have number 2 (hopefully) but I just can't bring myself to spend that much money on a pram!!

Lula it would've been ace to buy yours but I'm in Aberdeen so it's not the most practical!! I hope someone else can make use of it though. Smile

Pascha · 03/07/2012 20:59

We're looking at the Mountain Buggy +One for a double. Its not perfect but we are a bit rural so we want the 3-wheel air tyres. If I lived in a town I would be looking at either the BJCMGT or splashing out on an iCandy Peach Blossom. Or a BJCSelect. Or maybe a Jane Twone. DS will be 2.4 when Thingy arrives. I am not prepared to rely on a buggy board at that age. He is a bolter at the best of times.

Glad your scan was good Kim

Bunty I'm not putting my pics up for anyone to see! I am going to google now how to interpret the nub and maybe make a guess tonight. Watch this space...

PricklyPickle · 03/07/2012 21:50

Well... is it nub up or nub down Pascha? :)

OP posts:
Pascha · 03/07/2012 22:02

Can't see any nub at all Confused Thingy was all over the place on the scan, obviously not a good view to be had.

Lora1982 · 03/07/2012 22:07

currently typing on here so i dont send a nasty text to my boyfriend upstairs! the boy has annoyed the HELL out of me today.... so first he didnt want my ex to come round to my house for a tea cos hes here... fair enough-ish i hear u say but its quite alright for him to still be mates with his ex.. Then he goes shops and buys cans and fags none of which I can have obviously and i just find it so selfish that he dont seem to be trying to quit smoking when he said he would. Then to finish off the day i made dinner he ate it then fukt off to bed without even a 'goodnight'. Am i just being a moody cow?!?

happygonicky · 03/07/2012 22:10

Hi all, have been quietly lurking. Am pregnant with my first (13+4), due early jan. Told my boss today and she'd already guessed - apparently I'm showing. Husband noticed too. Anyone else? Can still do jeans up, but wasn't expecting to show this quickly! Anyone else showing or have I been overdoing the chocolate?!

BuntyCollocks · 03/07/2012 22:52

pascha meant the dark side in regard to getting a gender scan!

My stomach is killing me. I think that goats cheese (pasteurised) might have been on the turn, but it smelled/looked fine! Off to curl up and cry!

SquealyB · 04/07/2012 10:53

We are the opposite - my DH and I are determined not to find out the gender if at all possible. I love the idea of a surprise (which is odd as I nomally rattle christmas and b-day presents to see what they are). Will be ignoring any nubs Grin

Good luck to anyone who has their scan today and welcome happygo.
bunty hope you are feeling a bit better today.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 04/07/2012 11:13

Hi everybody, I?ve been MIA for a while ? been very busy at work and then exhausted in the evenings.

I have my scan today, at 5.15pm, and I?m a bag of nerves! So worried something will be wrong, though I have no real reason to suspect a problem. We?ve told a few people already (mostly DH?s family, as somebody we thought we could trust started some spiteful rumours where they live, so damage control was required!), but I?m desperate to tell people properly. I think people at work suspect but they?re all very tactful and haven?t said anything!

Assuming all is well I?ll be looking for some maternity jeans this weekend, my normal ones are very uncomfortable now (I think due to bloating / too much cake rather than baby, but I don?t see the point in being uncomfortable!). Will definitely start with Next, as Spring has said ? their normal jeans fit me a treat so hoping Mat ones will be the same.

So sorry to those that have had bad news, hope you are all OK.
