34 weeks today and thinking seriously about my hospital bag too - really confused about a nightie though - I am guessing it should be dark, and there was mention of dark PJ bottoms and so I'll have to buy them ...hmm, seems a bit of waste of money Confused. Also nursing bra - should I wait for a few weeks as your breasts are meant to grow more in the last month?

Hope LO isn't too early as our car seat isn't coming until I'm 37 weeks (gulp!) OK starting to have a little panic now and so I could do with a little Wine too!

What did you get up to Mrsmiggins? hope your day turned out to be unexpectedly great!
Loupee sounds like you had a nice time.

Slugs - poor little things, they're not cute but just been in the garden and seen a ton of them but hid them back in the grass. We had three resident hedgehogs last year who ate loads but sadly I've not seen any yet, I hope they're just having their babies and will be out in force soon!

frillylemons · 30/06/2012 18:40

Evening all Smile Gosh, it's been a looooong day in my house. We put all the furniture together and it looks lovely. However, we had to clear out the room we use for students as we have 2 female Germans arrive today. So, after cleaning out that room and the other spare room, a trip to the tip, doing 5 loads of washing, hoovering the house, doing the washing up, making the students' beds up, cleaning their shower room and helping DH with the furniture, I am now sitting down for the first time all day. My feet hurt like hell and my legs are so heavy I can hardly walk upstairs!! However, DH is out doing the sound for a gig tonight and my non preg DSis is coming over in a bit Smile

Phew. Thank God for Wimbledon is all I say Smile I shall be rooting for Murray!

How are you all?

susiegrapevine · 30/06/2012 18:56

mrsmiggins I hope your day went better you should have gone back to bed with dh Wink!!
loupee white slugs are just a different breed. We don't see many in our garden as we have slo worms and they eat them! If you are far north you prob don't get slo worms to gobble em up.
Had a very lazy day today and still have absolutly nothing ready could not get motivated after my afternoon nap! Went in the garden and drank tea instead! Still have a 3 and half hour drive to gloucester tmw and dh is driving back all in one day. Going to visit my uncle for lunch as will prob be his last chance to see my grandad before my grandad has his heart by-pass for anyone that remembers my grandad was very ill and is now waiting for a bypass not got a date yet but is mean't to be sometime in august. Dsis reckons what ever date his op is, is when I will go into labour!

Loupee · 30/06/2012 21:28

lovemarmite I bought a nightie out of primark and just going to take an old pair of PJ bottoms that I wouldn't mind just chucking out if it came to it. I think it depends what you actually wear to give birth.
Thanks susie I honestly had no idea slugs came in more than one colour Blush
One of my cats tried to eat a slug the other day, the look on his face was priceless, he kept trying to clean his mouth out with his paw.
frilly just reading about your day exhausts me. My pelvis is so sore right now, it's so difficult to get the right balance between resting it and keeping moving!
I'm writing a todo list for tomorrow, got nothing on, so hoping to get bits a pieces done around the house.
On the plus side DH has been away for 2 weeks already, and there are rumours he might get home a weeks early, so keeping my fingers crossed he'll be home in 3 weeks.

frillylemons · 30/06/2012 21:30

Must've missed something Loupee, where'd your DH go?

Loupee · 30/06/2012 21:38

frilly DH is working away down in Wales for 6 weeks. Due home the same day baby is due!

frillylemons · 30/06/2012 21:40

Oh goodness! How're you doing without him? Is this DC1?

Lovemarmite · 30/06/2012 22:17

Loupee that's good news if your DH comes home a week early!
My DH is away too, he's usually away for a month at a time or longer, but I'm lucky at the moment as he's away just for a long weekend.
Hope your cats keeps you in good company!

Good to know what you're wearing in the hospital - I bought a birthing shirt made of bamboo but I'm guessing this is for the birth itself and so a change afterwards to something ... might have to hit the shops, primark, m&s etc hmm, or do it online?!

Pelvic pain here too - I think LO sometimes lies on a nerve as I get a really bad pain on the right hand side very low down and I can't explain what it is, feels more like a nerve than a muscle but I might be wrong. I think she's also shifting a lot as I feel her feet out of my side and then up top more.

Hope your to-do list isn't too big. Mine is probably a combination of do something, have a rest, do something else, have a rest... and so on!
Frilly hope you sleep well after all your work today - wow, you put me to shame with all your activities.

Hope your day is good tmw susie!

ishopthereforeiam · 30/06/2012 22:19

Hi all, busy day - bit shattered now.

Love and Loupee I also bought a couple or Primarni nighties today - for £5-6 each they are pretty disposable so can wear for a few days in hospital. PJ's may be difficult to get on / off depending on how your birth goes. I had a catheter for dd so was in hospital standard nightie for dd for the overnight and just wore tracksuit bottoms the next day but if they do an emergency c/s you may prefer a nightie and clothes that aren't fitted at the waist?

Poppy I couldn't get your name link to click and see your profile? Glad mini pop is doing a bit better after the eye test though x

Starting to actually do stuff now - plan for the week sort the hospital bag out, car seat and then next week moses basket and wash baby clothes.

ps I walk sooooooo slowly now it's ridiculous. This week I have been overtaken by OAPs and toddlers Blush

Loupee · 30/06/2012 22:34

frilly thanks for asking, yes it's DC1, getting on alright, but we've not lived here that long, and I've not worked since we moved so don't really know anyone local. Do feel a bit isolated at times, kinda hoping the baby and associated groups will help with that. Just trying to keep as busy as possible just now, but it's getting harder!
Thanks love yeah the cats are company ;) at least they ensure I get out of bed!
I get one of the bamboo birthing shirts too, but might just keep it for feeding etc after the birth, the cost would put me off actually wearing to give birth. But I am hoping to be in the pool anyway.
I've had a lot of back pain in the pregnancy, but this pelvic pain is right up in my groin, makes everything painful. And baby's bum seems to be wedged in my ribs, that's really uncomfortable too.
Yeah, will factor in plenty breaks in my todo list.
Also it's probably obvious to everyone except me, but don't wash a new towel with your baby clothes, you'll just have to wash them again (I learnt the hard way)
Off to bed now, hope I can get comfy enough.

PictureThis · 30/06/2012 22:50

Me too Ishop Blush. I managed to shuffle my way into TKMaxx today where I found, to my delight, a four pack of Aden and Anais swaddle muslins. I'd been wanting to get some for ages as all the reviews I've read say how great they are but I was having difficulty justifying spending so much on them. Therefore imagine my delight when I found these at half price!

Had the mother of all cramp this morning in the top of my foot/ankle. Oh my God it was soooo painful it reduced me to tears and DH woke up to my wailing thinking I'd gone into labour! Every time I put my foot on the floor it would cramp up again. It didn't help that I was in the ensuite when it happened so I had to kind of hop back to the side of the bed, not exactly easy at 7 months pregnant! DH had to rub it and I eventually had to roll back onto the bed to stop it going back into spasm. I've tried increasing my fluids, tonic water and bananas but none of it really helps. I dread it happening again.

I'm pleased to hear Minipop is making good progress, he'll be home with you before you know it Poppy

frillylemons · 01/07/2012 06:47

I've decided that being pregnant during the summer isn't all it's cracked up to be! Whenever I wake up it's so noisy cause we have to have the windows open as it's so hot. Therefore, sleep is a distant memory and tiredness is my new companion Wink Gets me prepared for baby coming I guess! Anyone else finding sleep near impossible?

ImissMiniPop · 01/07/2012 07:16

I don't even have minipop wit me, but the three hourly expressing sessions mean I mainly get two hour sleeps every three hours.. :) so frilly it is good training for when baby comes along :o

are you feeling better now?

Westcountrylovescheese · 01/07/2012 09:01

Frilly... and the cankles are back with the sun. I vote go away sun.

Vinolover · 01/07/2012 09:23

Last night I finished my last saturday shift! It was a real horror as well which makes it all the more sweet. Only 4 more shifts to go over a two week period and then that's me done :) It's so exciting now!

Frilly I agree about carrying in the summer! I can't find anything light to wear and getting comfy in bed is impossible! I'm just grateful I haven't suffered too badly with swelling, but then there is still plenty of time for that!

I can feel a lazy sunday coming on :) Hope you manage a more relaxed one today Frilly.

Whiteangel · 01/07/2012 09:31

Morning all. DH and I are in the Sunday Times this morning if anyone is a reader? I look enormous! Anyone else having issues with their neck and shoulders? Mine are agony! Thought I'd been sat funny at work the other day but yesterday they just got more and more painful as the day went on and then kept me awake most of the night. Grumble grumble. Back to slugs, our lovely kitchen is nearly finished but DH went down this morning and found slug trails across the chopping board! Eugh! No idea how they get in or how to stop them. May have to train my cats to kill them on sight before the baby arrives and tries to chew on one!
Had a good antenatal class yesterday where we looked at newborns and life with baby. Got to have a go at changing a nappy full of treacle! Playing with the dolls made me all excited about meeting my baby. Just want to cuddle him now!
35+3 and not sure I can be patient much longer!

frillylemons · 01/07/2012 09:44

I do plan for a lazy Sunday. DH is already irritating me though...maybe it's braise I'm tired but he seems to be in one of those moods Angry He said to me this morning, "Do you know why you aren't sleeping well?". I just managed to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying, "Oh, I don't know. Perhaps it's the fact that it feels like I have a bowling ball shoved in my abdomen that squirms and kicks my ribs every time I get comfortable, or maybe it could be because no matter what position I'm in my back hurts like hell, or it could be that I have a husband who sleeps with his elbows in my face, or just that it's too darn hot for me to fall asleep. Pick one you skinny, un-swollen, deep sleeping bastard Angry". Yeah, it was a close one! Grin

Well, we have 2 German students which I have to take to a meeting point in a mo. oh this'll make you chuckle, my eldest DSis came over last night and said, "How much will you pay me to do the Heil Hitler thing to the Germans?"! Imagine...

Oh, Poppy, any idea when minipop might be able to go home?

Westcountrylovescheese · 01/07/2012 09:53

Oh no Frilly, bad bad DH! Mine got a basting yesterday as we were painting the kitchen. I'd already done twice as much work as him, he sat down (yes I know) and started pointing out where I'd missed a bit. I was like the rabbit in Monty Pythons holy grail...!

ImissMiniPop · 01/07/2012 10:13

oh frilly/west! what are your DHs like? bless them! Wink that goes up there with my DP asking why I was crying..? - the day after I was released from hospital following being in there for 3 weeks, emergency c section, no sleep, baby in NICU, no food in the house, in pain and generally still a bit traumatised.... erm, now let me THINK..! Sometimes men amaze me... :D

white do they teach you how to change a nappy with a wriggly baby? I've not entirely worked it out yet Blush all tips from Mum's welcome.

we're not sure when minipop can come home, he needs to sort feeding out and get the horrible feeding tube taken away, and he still forgets to breath sometimes, especially when feeding - it's because he's so little and that bit of his nervous system hasn't fully developed yet.

It's called desaturation, and it happened when he was asleep on me yesterday, it's so scary. His lips start going blue, and then you have to rub his back to get him going again. :(

I am getting all my bits ready for when he does come home though, so we've got a basinette, mattress, some sheets/bedding. Just need a changing mat and a changing bad. I think I might treat myself to the pacapod. :)

Vinolover · 01/07/2012 11:55

That must be very scary when he does that Poppy! It won't be long until he's home, especially as he seems to be thriving going by his weight now :) I love that picture of him on fb! He really looks adorable.

My DH had to stop himself from complaining about his back the other evening when I was in agony with mine - Thank God he did because I'm not sure I would have been responsible for my actions Wink. They just don't think at times do they and then other times they seem to be quite lovely Confused

Have decided that not only will today involve lots of doing nothing, it will also involve a shed load of chocolate Grin. Well, it is sunday after all!!

Loupee · 01/07/2012 12:33

Oh poppy that does sound scary, I hope it's not too long before he's big enough, and has learned how to feed and breathe properly. It's amazing to think of all the things they learn while usually inside us. Sounds like your starting to get organised tho, I can't imagine all the stress this adds. He is truly gorgeous tho, love the pics on Facebook, it's great to see how well he/you are doing.
westcountry can you send the sun up here please? Been a while since I've seen him!
Made a small start on my todo list, now thinking about lunch.

Loupee · 01/07/2012 12:47

Oh, also been thinking about cooking some food to put in the freezer so we've some easy meals once baby is here.
So far I'm thinking curry, bolognaise, and shepherds pie.
Anyone got any other ideas?

ImissMiniPop · 01/07/2012 13:04

chilli con carne? stew/casserole? lasagne? :o

justine09x · 01/07/2012 13:31

Hi all,

have been reading with interest. Some of u are sooooo close now I'm right at end of august so still so close, but sooo far.

frilly you just made me actually cry with Laughter soooo funny (not for u) but what u wanted to say to him really tickled me, I read it out to my husband and he said u were very controlled not to actually say it and that he wishes that I would demonstrate said self control instead of hurling abuse at him. Oh well maybe if men weren't so stupid eh? My DH has a really annoying habit of every time I say whats bothering me for example: 'oh I have a headache' Dh will respond with 'so have I and i've got tooth/ear/back ache' its like its a competition he can never just sympathise.............I have visions of beating him to death with my breast pump but i'm hoping this feeling will pass after the birth lol.

Although I don't ever comment I do read your posts and I'm glad mini pop is doing so well :)

When are u all thinking about/ doing your hospital bags? Im all a flutter because Im having a homebirth as my last one was a BBA and born in 45 mins with no one to help ...............also he was 2 weeks early and as there was no midwife to deliver the placenta by the time the paramedics turned up they took me to hosp anyway. So the long and short of it is do I pack a bag just in case? and if not at least everything is in one place for hb and when do I pack it? think i'm being obsessive trying to control as I had absolutely no control over the birth last time and im terrified its going to happen again its not a nice feeling!! anyway any advice would be great!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 01/07/2012 13:44

Hi all,

Wrote a nice post then stupid laptop lost it all. Now can't remember what I said other than Frilly and West posts made me laugh, I'm so pleased Minipop is doing ok and I'm sure he'll keep going from strength to strength. He's done brilliantly so far and is such a trooper.

Had a nice day after all yesterday despite strop! Pottered about locally, had a wierd and hilarious lunch straight out of 1992, then went to look for DH's waders which were £500 so funnily enough, didn't get them.

Have not much energy and am sore and tired at the mo. Going for a bath soon, then a spot of light gardening etc before MIL et al descend (yet again) on Tues for DH's birthday. DH is doing more reports, so will have a quiet day I think. Chocolate is also called for!

Hope you all get a good Sunday and the weather is ok. I've hardly worn any of my nice maternity dresses as it's been so cold and wet for so much of the summer so far. Hasn't stopped elephant lady ankles, however...

Cheery bye for now

PS: have a couple of maternity nighties and pj bottoms on order at M&S but also plan to use old t-shirt/other in hospital for labour etc. Bag almost done now which is a relief! x
