susiegrapevine · 28/06/2012 14:48

Oh yeah and missmiggins your leaking episode got me doing my pelvic floor here and now lol!

Vinolover · 28/06/2012 15:29

Oh dear MrsM. I do feel your pain! I have to be very careful when sneezing/coughing etc Blush. This is dc3 so I suppose I can be excused Wink

Thank goodness I am feeling loads better today and slept so well last night :) That pain I had yesterday has disappeared and apart from still feeling knackered, I actually feel half human! I missed out on an evening out in a chinese restaurant though which is a bummer! Think a take out tomorrow night is in order Wink

Hope everyone has had a good day :)

frillylemons · 28/06/2012 16:11

Oh MrsM! That reminds me of when I shouted at DDog the other day (which I really rarely do) and I peed myself a bit...so glad dogs can't talk!!

Well, DSis (due today - squeeee!) and I went to a shite antenatal class today. It was meant to be about preparing for baby's birth, but all it was was a DVD of women telling us it is hard, not to underestimate how tired etc we will be, and to keep talking to our DP's. Literally. That was it. We were expecting practical stuff like clothes, hospital bags, paper knickers etc! Naff.

ishopthereforeiam · 28/06/2012 16:28

Poor you mrsm - I sometimes have to do a quick squeeze when walking as baby kicks my bladder and I worry about the leakage!

Not long til you're an aunt frilly!

susie you're so right, i should be excited but am so over all the ante natal stuff now (peeing in bottles, blood taken)... thought this would be the last one but they want to see me again in 2 weeks arghhhhh. My being over the whole pregnancy thing is clearly starting to show as the sales lady in Gap today said you seem like you just want it all to be over and done with lol!!

So they found blood in my urine at the ante natal, am not too worried but will google now and panic myself!

fairtradelu · 28/06/2012 17:28

McBaby: did they find your GBS in your urine or bloods? I had it in a urine sample at 12 weeks and am thinking about asking to be retested in the hope I don't have to be drip-fed antibiotics. It sounds stupid, but I am totally calm about actually giving birth and contractions and everything, the one thing freaking me out is the thought of being on a drip. I really need to find a way to get over my fear of needles and hospital procedures!!! Also, re: Group B Strep - the leaflet the midwife gave me says you CAN still have a water birth. I'm planning on asking how it works combining with drip at my next midwife app on Mon.

Well we had our first antenatal class yesterday. I made DH take the afternoon off work and it turned out he was the only partner there! There were only 3 other ladies but still. We whizzed through signs of labour, what happens when you get to hospital, pain relief and what might happen if things don't go to plan. I was expecting more practical info about breathing techniques etc. so am very glad I went to a birth prep class run by my yoga teacher a while back. If I hadn't done that I'd be feeling very unprepared now! Especially as the next antenatal class is on feeding. Oh well.

MrsMiggins I think you have just ensured we will all be frantically practising our pelvic floor exercises regularly from now on!

One last thing to share: I went swimming today for the first time in weeks so had to prepare my downstairs last night. Had to enlist help of DH. Having him lean over me, razor in hand was one of the most bizarre and scary experiences of my life!!!

Lovemarmite · 28/06/2012 17:59

Giggled at your post Quick but I hope your vein pops back...
hmm fanjo to the masses, it reminds me of my bum episode when I had to have an emergency op on for an ingrowing hair at the bottom of my spine which if left meant that the pus would run up to lungs etc - a big deal for such a tiny hair that grew inwards and apparently there was tons of pus in there Blush. But I had lots of young student doctors peering at my gaping bottom but I was sooo in pain that I couldn't just cross my legs and say no, I'm way too embarrassed Shock and had to just get on with it. Just hope my next hospital visit in August will not be a repeat performance of getting it out for everyone to see. I am such a private person!

Hope your blood tests are fine nightfall
...doing the pelvic exercices right now .. ooo aaa oo aaa

Off for an early dinner with the folks. Been nesting today with cleaning and filling LO's new chest of drawers, unpacked our Bugaboo and putting things in places only to move them again I'm sure!
Hope everyone's had a good day!

panpipe · 28/06/2012 18:12

Nightfall I had glucose in urine at 20-odd wk appt. Apparently just being pregnant can cause that so not necessarily anything to worry about. DON'T do what I did though and took it upon myself to cut right down on sugar - that meant my 28w bloods had really really low glucose and had to go for a GTT twice before they made their minds up that I didn't need it after all. So carry on eating and drinking normally unless they tell you otherwise!

McBaby all sounds exciting that baby is engaged. I'm 34+2 and my little one isn't engaged yet. Kind of hoping it doesn't yet as I'm convinced it's transverse at the mo even though MW says otherwise. Don't want it going down bum first!

Got my first lazy daisy class for a few weeks tonight. I've been so uncomfortable that I'm soooo looking forward to a nice stretch and relax!

susiegrapevine · 28/06/2012 18:15

Omg so totally fell asleep and woke up at 5 when I was supposed to be picking ds up from nursery!! Had to run down the road smart trike in tow!! Must have looked mad! Got there only 10 mins late! They didn't say anything!! Will set my alarm next time just in case I dose off again!

McBaby · 28/06/2012 18:19

fairtrade they picked up the GBS in a urine test at about 14 weeks. But did a swab today which should be more accurate.. I only can't have a water birth as have to be on the consultant unit if I have to have antibiotics and there is only one pool so likleyhiid of getting is slim as they also said I couldn't use the pool when I had the drip in so likley they would give the pool to someone who could use it more!

ishopthereforeiam · 28/06/2012 18:41

OH MY GOD Just notices dd has had her toes and fingers painted at nursery, she's only 18mo ffs!

OP posts:
Nightfall1983 · 28/06/2012 19:02

panpipe :-) thanks for that. Today someone at work brought in cake for a birthday and I was like "ooh better not have that, might be diabetic..." however 5 mins later I thought "ooh tomorrow they might tell me I'm diabetic and can't have cake - better have some now!" so did...

Today I had a phone call from what turned out to be a head-hunter (have had them before) I told them that I'm just not interested but kind of wish that I'd arranged to go for an interview with him and turned up without mentioning that I'm 7 months pregnant...

quickchat · 28/06/2012 19:07

ishop That's weird, a nursery doing that? Id be annoyed too.

I have to jump in and say I haven't peed myself yet.

Why so un supportive and smug you ask - because everything fecking else is going wrong down there Blush.

Going to go swimming now. Im not doing it because im a good person, Im doing it because the boiler has packed in and apparently we need a part (oh fecking really) that will take a while. Never heard that one before!

Last two nights I have had a bath by boiling kettles and pots then just a good wash in the morning at the sink. It has left my hair looking very frizzy. Bath water doesn't cut it so I will wash my hair in the showers at the gym.

That is the ONLY thing that is coaxing me out of the house THIS knackered.

and squeeze, Hoooold.....relax

fairtradelu · 28/06/2012 21:53

Thanks for the info Mcbaby, I'm definitely going to request a swab test in that case and hope to god it's negative. It'll probably be the same situation with birthing pool at York Hospital as there is only one but the leaflet says it is possible so I'm going to cling on to that hope!!!

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep despite the rubbish humidity

ishopthereforeiam · 29/06/2012 02:37

Urgh so not sleeping. Not sure if the heat or just my mind re dd's nails being painted. I just think she's too young and they should've asked first, it's all very 'jordan'!?

OP posts:
hamncheese · 29/06/2012 07:48

Shock ishop seriously? I'd be making one very big complaint about that. Regardless of how ridiculous it is in general, you can't just do that to someone else's child without permission!!!

Vinolover · 29/06/2012 08:06

ishop I would be cross too if my small child had her finger and toe nails painted at nursery. Makes me laugh really because they can't apply sunscreen to children but they can do something like that!
I hope you managed to get some sleep in the end.

susiegrapevine · 29/06/2012 08:45

Oh dear baby brain hits again and am feeling a bit tearful about it! Got my dates mixed up and thought this weekend was next but also a bit cross with dh as he did not correct me! Arrrg might be going to gloucester this weekend after all! God I feel soooo stupid!

ishopthereforeiam · 29/06/2012 09:12

hope you feel better susie? cup of tea and large Biscuit?

ham and vino I was furious but didn't want to get her key carer in trouble as she's a v nice girl and dd likes her and gets on well with her... so had a quiet word this morning and it wasn't the key carer that did it. Regardless of whether you think nail varnish /make up / (those squishy fake heel shoes!) are right for babies I just thought they should ask!

Here's to Friday Grin.

28 days to go!!!!

ps bad bruising and painful arm from bloods being taken yesterday - have added a photo to my profile, has anyone had similar experiences?

OP posts:
Vinolover · 29/06/2012 11:53

Ishop that looks really sore :( I've never suffered like that before but my mum had a blood test last week and her arm went exactly the same way! I'm not sure why it happens sometimes but I do know if you are dehydrated you are more likely to bruise. Ouchie!

I have just woken up from a two hour nap which is quite impressive seeing as I slept really well last night too! It's such a nice feeling to feel refreshed :)

Lovemarmite · 29/06/2012 12:30

ishop I had a massive bruise on my arm after bloods taken about a year ago - I think the nurse found it hard to find a vein and then she took quite a lot. When I had the nuchal scan/bloods they explained that a bruise may appear after it because my veins were not coming to the surface so readily and so they had to be a bit rougher.
Hope it clears soon - my bruise a year ago went all the shades from yellow, purple and orange and was about 3 inches across - nice!

Feeling a bit crap about things today. Went out to dinner with my parents and I can tell my mum is unhappy with me (very passive aggressive and won't take confrontation) however on one occasion she said in a very firm voice 'I'll give you a smack, I know you're almost 8 months pregnant BUT...!!!' I have no idea where this came from as I was only having a little joke with my Dad, but her face was fierce and obviously not a joke at the time. Hmm, I'm 39 and I can't believe my mum is trying to make me feel like I'm 4! I know I should brush it off but I can't have a normal chat with her at all and she seems to always try to compare what we were like when we were kids to how our LO will grow up and behave. She has said many times that she can't wait until LO misbehaves and then starts to rebel (like I did) and how will I cope? Ahhhhhh! mother issues here, I am sooo annoyed with her as she still thinks at 39 that I am still misbehaving and rebelling even though I do things and think things that are very different to her. My only self preservation strategy is to ignore her at the moment, but I find this sad as I'd like to share things with her but it's just not possible.
Sorry to rant on x

The3Bears · 29/06/2012 12:31

Hi everyone,

Been v busy past few days but have kept up on posts
ishop that looks v sore, hope your okay. Ive never bruised like that mine just stays abit tender for a couple of days with no mark, hope it goes soon. Not suprised you were annoyed at nursery painting your dd's nails that is awful Shock, hope it doesnt happen again.

I dont have much to report here, been abit uncomfortable the past couple of days and babys bum was sticking out all day yesterday while I was shopping Grin he kept changing sides though so it felt very uncomfortable. See my midwife next Weds so hoping everything goes well and baby is in a good position. Getting last couple of bits ready for baby now got this baby monitor yesterday from boots www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-SCD525-00-Monitor-Temperature/dp/B003P9WSXU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340969318&sr=8-1 on the clearance bit for £30 was v happy as used my points so it was free really and still have £73 of points left Grin We were testing it out last night and it is v good. Hope everyone has a great friday, is anyone up to anything good this weekend?

Whiteangel · 29/06/2012 12:32

My arm was like that after my booking in bloods. Does it sometimes but not others. Don't worry, perfectly normal x

Vinolover · 29/06/2012 14:13

I'm sorry about your mother issues Marmite.. It must be very uncomfortable and upsetting at times if she just comes out with these things. I hope your meal was nice otherwise :)

34 weekes tomorrow here and really thinking I should pack my hospital bag! I just keep thinking back to when I was all ready with my other two and the bags sat there for weeks and weeks lol. Surely it's my turn to have a baby on time Wink
My parents are taking my children away for the weekend next week so I may sort it all out then. It's a good excuse to get everything out again Grin

3bears I get the bum too! It certainly feels uncomfortable sometimes when they stretch it out to full capacity and then decide to shift sides... Bless them.

hamncheese · 29/06/2012 15:35

Ouch ishop that's nasty... I think bruising is more likely if not enough pressure is applied to the area once the needle is removed (not sure where I'm getting this from but I get the feeling it is from someone who once took my blood so hopefully reliable?) anyway I guess hold the cotton wool on it after for longer before the plaster goes on??

marmite that sounds no fun at all, especially the bit about hitting you, totally out of order! I hate passive aggressiveness. DH's mum is like that, she won't tell you up front if something annoys her, and if you say "has something annoyed you?" she says no, but she sulks nonetheless. Like you say ignoring is the best, if you ignore MIL she tends to be fine the next time... but she is more passive than agressive, and it sounds like your Mum was angry too! I hate the way sometimes families find it so hard to be objective and get tetchy about not seeing things the same way just because they assume you won't! :(

Some of our nappy order came yesterday... a fuzzibunz all in one and totsbot fitted inner! Was having problems ordering the wraps we wanted though as they were out of stock in UK websites so found today a USA website that had them so looked and the postage was free... brilliant? No. Because I ordered and all - with UK as my country - and they THEN email to say that they only do free postage to the USA (so why does your website not add postage charges when you change the country then?) and, get this, did I have friends or family in the USA that they could post to? Eh no, but even if I did my baby's bum isn't going to be needing covered in the USA in 6 weeks time, is it? Hmm seriously... and then that postage to uk starts at $30... same cost as the order itself and this is literally for two small pieces of fabric!! Ridiculous... currently asking them if they can post it cheaper with USPS, deary me.

Anyway off swimming soon for some much needed relief from the weight of my body! Anyone else finding they can barely walk distance now, because of foot pain? My feet are constantly rock solid in muscular pain and I can barely walk half a mile now without being too sore to go on :(
