ishopthereforiam Both my DC's had reflux so lying on their backs made them scream. She basically screamed the whole time she was in that carry bit at the back. It was also the Vibe which is a little bigger again.

I may be buying another P&T in the end because as doubles go for Toddler & baby, it's really the best of a bad lot. There can't be a perfect one I suppose. 2 kids are a lot to cart around!
This time though, if I need it I will buy 2nd hand and buy a smaller one like the Sport. Hadn't heard of the explorer, it may be same size as sport or smaller?

I lost £200 in 2 months of buying a brand new Vibe. I will have to buy 2nd hand as DH won't let me buy new again!!

ishopthereforeiam · 21/06/2012 10:42

Hi quick I got this here but bought it on sale so was a bit less (about £360 I think)!

hi all - thanks for the kind words - you are correct Ishop - as long as baby healthy. plus - i have now had a lot of feedback from friends that the size thing isnt accurate -they say one thing and it comes out the other ;)

re the placenta and the c section - i was awake worrying about it last night - i guess i hadnt ever thougth about it before until now it is a real possibility. i am definately in favour of knowing the date it will happen (im a real planner) but the whole 'thought' of a c section and what actually happens got me worried - however, im back to normal today - it happens millions of times all over the world and i really am happy to do whatever it takes to make sure we both are healthy!

is anyone else still getting tired? i was for the last month ish and then id say latelyl ive felt ok again, but then this week - i have been working from home so that i can have a sneaky afternoon nap!! funny how nothing is consistent :)

Miggins - i didnt receive any of your banana loaf - hope it was yummy!

i did check the JL sale and didnt see much of interest - espeically clothes wise when not knowing if boy or girl. the Emma bridgewater sale starts on the 28th for anyone interested! (Picturethis!!) ;)

hope you are all enjoying your day - rain is back on here which is a shame as Im going to an outdoor concernt with 8000 people in stirling - start of the olympic 2012 festivities and is world famous venezuelan conductor and simon bolivar orchestra with fireworks etc at stirling castle - staying at mums after - even at age 35, i love staying with my mum :) (husband in london with work again so missing out!!!)

xx

Good morning - from the grey south coast of the UK!

sc0ttish I've been tired of late (32+5) but the last few days have been a little easier. I'm awake at 4am every morning and have been for a few weeks, woke up with a small night sweat and so guess it's the hormones doing that.

I've been worrying of late too, my LO is definitely lying across my tummy and I feel pokes on my sides, I'm hoping she'll be turning soon as I think at 34 weeks they need to have done it by then?

Have everyone has a great day today.
Hope the rain stays away in Stirling sc0ttish - sounds like a good fun day!

hamncheese · 21/06/2012 12:58

Glad someone else is craving the ice marmite it's definately the crunch!

scottish The woman doing my NCT classes says that measurements (both of the bump and of baby on scan) are inherently unreliable and inaccurate and it's not unknown for women to be measured the day before labour starts, told they are having a big/small and then it comes out the total opposite size. So again don't worry just be happy with the healthy baby and be positive about the birth. And make sure it is on your terms, don't let anyone force you into choosing something you don't want unless it is an emergency situation for you or baby! :)

I've been feeling really down the last few days. Can't tell whether it is due to hormones or situation. Nothing is happening just now, waiting for baby, waiting for house, waiting to feel energised again. I want to do things but everything is a hassle due to discomfort. Can't do energetic things as worried about over doing it as I did before, and can't do sitting around things as I get so sore in one position. It's like I have to move every 10 mins. The only time I am comfy is in the bath or pool now :( Anyway feeling all crappy about that sorry to be totally negative, I just want my body back and my baby here now!

On a most positive note I just found out today that my masters has been marked (VERY LONG overdue) and passed so I now have a masters in research and can add M.Res. to the end of my name. Hopefully in a little over two years I'll be adding Dr to the front too and finally getting a job! Hope to graduate in November with baby in attendance

alisonmcg · 21/06/2012 13:01

Marmite I think babies can turn/change position at any point right up until the birth! My midwife made reference to 34 weeks but it was from the point of view that it's from 34 weeks onwards that they start to really pay attention to what position the baby is in and advise that you keep an eye on your posture and the position you sit/relax in so that you don't encourage the baby to go back to back etc but she also said that really the baby can turn at any point so they never get too worried about it!

No particular cravings here as such although I have developed a sweet tooth during pregnancy that I've never had before, I've always been a savoury crisps and cheese person. Before I was pregnant I would very very rarely buy myself a bar of chocolate but these days I have to actively talk myself out of buying some everyday!

alisonmcg · 21/06/2012 13:03

ps. well done on the masters ham!

frillylemons · 21/06/2012 14:00

Well done Ham! Sorry to hear you are feeling low though. that sucks.

I am desperatley wanting to nest, but DH still needs to do skirting boards and paint the coving in LO's room...so frustrating! I want things out of the hall and in the nursery!

I don't know about you all, but I find that after lunch I get really slugginsh, uncomfortable and exhasted. Makes work a flipping nightmare because I get so uncomfortable.

Anyone getlse getting/got a Moby Wrap?

ishopthereforeiam · 21/06/2012 15:06

Ham.M.Res Grin AWESOME!

very tired too... but still erratic sleep at night.

my copy of 50 shades arrived this morning Wink haven't started it yet.

scottish - I'm in a world of denial with the c/s. very much looking forward to not having to deal with contractions and vaginal birth but not reading a thing about what is involved with a c/s as I'd rather not know what they do Hmm

alison wish i had your willpower - i am eating choc and ice cream daily (and lots of it)!

OP posts:
Lovemarmite · 21/06/2012 15:23

Congratulations Ham that's brill as I don my cap to you!
Do you get to wear your uni robes and the square hat soon?

Thanks alison for the reassurance, I actually felt her move at lunch as her feet seemed to press under my ribs, she certainly seems to be moving around a lot now after I was concerned.

ishop and scottish, some of my friends have had a cs and they've been very happy about it afterwards. One of them had twins and as soon as she got home, she was so busy running after them that she wasn't phased about her healing and seemed to heal very well and quickly too.

Me too with the sweet tooth. Always had a sweet one after a meal but used to never reach for chocolate, now I've been going for yummy milk and dark chocolate everyday. Oh well, will stop hopefully after August, but I can imagine I'll be saying that I need the energy for bf!

vanimal · 21/06/2012 17:29

Congrats hamncheese, that's great news about your masters!

ishop and scottish, I had a CS with DD1, and although it took a few weeks to heal properly, I was fine. No family around, but I was able to get up and care for DD myself whilst DH was at work. I would recommended stocking up on freezer dinners though so you don't have to cook. One good tip I got (about a year after my CSHmm) was to keep my 'chin to chest' and roll my body inwards whenever I got up, sneezed, coughed etc, as it took some of the strain off the tummy muscles.

The other useful advice I was given was to keep my tummy well supported at all times, I did this by wearing a stretchy top whenever I could.

hamncheese · 21/06/2012 20:25

Thanks all Grin

Yep I get to wear the gown marmite but not the cap! Apparently in Scotland the cap isn't the done thing, but you do get doffed on the head with a cap in the ceremony!

I've got a moby frilly it's great as far as I can tell having put doll in and tied it etc, the booklet that comes with it has all the holds in it to try.

ishop we covered cesarean at NCT the other night and said you may not expect a lot of people in the room so don't freak about it on the day as it's normal and also your DP won't be with you at the prep stage as he will be scrubbing so don't freak it's going to happen without him either! Just incase that is helpful :)

Going to a nappacino tomorrow... aka coffee while people talk about cloth nappies. Will report back on what I find for any interested!

ffscatmove · 21/06/2012 20:45

ishop I second what ham said - there will be more people than you expect (anaesthetist, anaesthetic ODP / nurse, surgeon x 2, scrub nurse, midwife & theatre runner so 7 people minimum!) Your DP won't be there while you have the epidural / spinal put in but will be there before they start the op. You should still be offered skin to skin straight away & some people even manage to feed (although it's very awkward positioning). Won't tell you anything else unless you want to know!

ImissMiniPop · 21/06/2012 20:47

Congrats Ham :o that's awesome news.

ishop/scottish with regards to c sections, this was my worst fear, I really did not want a c section, and was so scared when they told me I was having an emergency one.

I can't lie and say it wasn't uncomfortable, but the team who looked after me were awesome and really took care of me, and the anaesthetist was great at giving me various things to relax me and help me out. :)

I didn't really have a chance to rest and recoup, as I had to get to NICU everyday, so it's probably taking me a little longer to recover, but I am almost back to normal three and a half weeks later. I'm not entirely pain free, but am painkiller free, so it's not too bad considering what they do (and they weren't very gentle with me as it was an emergency).

I can't believe anyone would willingly choose a c section, but then I've never experienced a vaginal birth so I guess that's not really a fair comment.

When we were talking about PJ's post birth, did I mention that a nightdress is better for anyone having a c section as you have to have catheter for 24hours (they put it in after they numb you, don't worry).

ishopthereforeiam · 21/06/2012 20:49

Thanks ham, vanimal and love. Am not too Hmm worried about the surgery itself (as long as I don't actually think about what they're doing as am funny about blood etc) but will have to see how the recovery is after as dd is 18 mo and will want to be picked up etc but may be a bit too heavy. Good advice on the chin to chest too!

Was thinking of starting to make the freezer food soon. After dd everyone (kindly!) brought food over but I'm super fussy and like my home cooking so may start to prepare. Also need to dig the moses basket out and clean the bedding as well as dstobe new clothes...

That should keep me busy!

Am watching on tv the concert that scottishlass is at with her mom, its lovely and great project that has taught tons of LO's how to play musical instruments.

susiegrapevine · 21/06/2012 22:58

ham congrats on the masters!!

Am terrified of having to have a c-section!!

marmite my mum got woken in the night at 36 weeks by my sister turning head down apparently she had a rest half way so my mum was very un comfy for a while! So is totally possible for them to turn themselves and many people who have babies manually turned only to have them turn back again. So I say no need to panick until the last in fact of you are having a section for a breech baby they scan you before the surgery and if baby has turned they send you home (I only know this cos I watch way too much one born every minute)

Still have ny horrid cough (dh is now 'ill' as well yeah whatever) and am worrying that I have gestational diabeties and worrying how it might affect baby (tho I still ate cake this evening) hate waiting for blood tests!! And wanna know my scan date arrrg hurry up and tell me!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 21/06/2012 23:02

Well done Ham, that's brilliant news. Congratulations on all your hard work.
Just back from Lazy Daisy which was good again though didn't manage a new breathing technique. Also cashed in my birthday mum to be massage voucher at clarins which was amazing. So so nice. Off to sleep finally if the acid will let me... Apparently a sweet tooth means more energy is wanted which makes sense. I want a lot of cake at the mo and not much else! Night all x

geekette · 22/06/2012 04:30

Yet another 4am start...
Well done Ham!

geekette · 22/06/2012 05:20

Actually, do bags (hand bags, changing bags, backpacks etc) get in the way of baby slings?

hamncheese · 22/06/2012 07:49

I'm not keen on a section either... unless it is an emergency of course. I think if baby isn't the right way up I'll be asking to not be given a section until at the earliest 40 weeks to give baby a chance to turn a the end.

geek Wrap slings have a fabric cross on your back, go over each shoulder and then to the front. You could have a backpack easily on the back and baby on the front or baby on back, backpack on front. You could have a hand bag or changing bag on your shoulder too but not across shoulder obviously, however it might prove a bit more hassle having it on one shoulder as it might slip off, would have to see how it goes I guess! I've got a few different sizes of backpacks in prep... if you want some that don't cost much go to Decathlon if you have one near!

I'm really considering buying another freezer. While we are at the flat our fridge freezer is TINY, like the smallest one you can buy. So I made 6 meals and froze them and now there is no more room (what with all my ice and ice poles haha) so really considering getting another small upright freezer to put in the pantry or something...

Hope the results turn out fine susie and glad you are recovering from being sick!

Glad you are enjoying the classes miggins :)

Hope you all have a great day even if it is pissing down!

WelshLadyCDF · 22/06/2012 08:00

re Nurseries, if baby is in a moses basket for the first few weeks am i right in thinking they don't have a musical mobile? I can't see where it would go?

ishopthereforeiam · 22/06/2012 09:43

Thanks poppy that's really helpful too. Will remember to take a night dress! Last time I took my pre pg pj's (didn't realise stupidly that as soon as baby was out the entire bump didn't just disappear!

Ham we have a small freezer (standalone) as our integrated fridge / freezer is teeny. Although if we ever manage to buy the house we're after then I want a ridiculous chest freezer for the garage(!)

Welsh we didn't have a mobile on the moses basket but we did get those small musical things that you can attach on the moses basket handles (with velcro).

Phew, another night with not great sleep. Feeling a bit down today. Torn between what to do after dstobe is born and 9 mths - 1 yr, work or SAHM. I think I really want to work but feel guilty about that as am a bit bored of being housewife in training atm (although I've enjoyed it up til now - been taking time out since April, just having a down day)! but then nursery fees for two babies will work out at about £2.2k per month!?!? Sad

The3Bears · 22/06/2012 09:57

Morning everyone,

Weather is awful here so not doing much today, went shopping yesterday and got soaked was horrible :( really hope the weather improves for when our babys are born, I want to go on big walks!

Ham Well done on your masters!!!
Another freezer would be a good idea so you can freeze more meals etc for when babys born.

Ive not really had crazy cravings, I am abit obbsessed with water and loads of ice atm but not eating the ice just have to have the water freezing! I have been craving cereal since about 10 weeks Blush seriously have been going through milk and cereal like a mad woman, dp thinks it's v weird.

ishop My 50 shades arrived the other day aswell and started reading it last night, Im enjoying it so far Grin

welsh I dont think you could put a mobile on moses basket, but as ishop said you could attach a musical toy or something to soothe baby. I would reccomend the slumber bear it has a soundbox which you can take out of the v cute bear and it has lullabies, white noise, wave noise and a heartbeat noise which is v sooting for newborns. We still have ds1's which he loved we put it in pram carrycot when he couldnt settle when out and it worked a treat Grin

Hope everyone has a nice day today!
