Went to hospital for a growth scan today and thankfully this baby seems to be growing properly and following the 65th centile or there abouts (1st baby was on the 5th centile and didn't make it :( though dd was nicely grown )

They are definitely going to induce me during the 38th week which means as early as the 25th July - 6 weeks and 2 days away. Suddenly it seems horribly close and I still have no pram sorted out and DD's moses basket is still in the loft and we need a new mattress for it. Gulp. will have to go shopping Grin

ffscatmove · 11/06/2012 19:26

lemons me too, DH finds it very amusing at times as I have to work to launch myself up!
I have 5 weeks (including this week) left till I finish work & have found out today that we have found someone to be my cover so that's a relief! One week we are away for our wedding anniversary so only 4 weeks of actual work - although am beginning to feel dubious about making it that far, I'm on my feet all day and if I forget my compression stockings my feet are very sore & a bit swollen. Determined to have as much time as possible with LO though so will have to stick it out!
Glad to hear your scan went well ontheedge - I have one on Thursday as I'm hypothyroid & am a bit worried as bump is measuring small Sad. Still, it's been growing the right amount each week so hopefully all will be ok! (am trying to be positive!)

PictureThis · 11/06/2012 19:28

Bloody hell, I go away on holiday only to come back and find a shiny new thread! Still catching up with the last 11 pages so just marking my place, oh and my GTT came back as borderlineSad so seeing the consultant tomorrow.

PictureThis · 11/06/2012 20:15

Now that I've caught up, love Minipop's RL name Poppy, we've chosen it for our bump too.
Only 8 more weeks of work left, that's 240 hours, minus 34 annual leave I've still left to take which equals a grand total of 206 hours or 6 1/2 weeks...yippee, I cant wait.

WelshLadyCDF · 11/06/2012 20:16

ontheedge .... Why are they going to induce you at 38 weeks? Sorry if i have missed a previous post about this.

MrsMigginslovespies · 11/06/2012 21:00

Evening all,

I totally know what you mean 3Bears about that heavy feeling. So odd. Apparently, it's only gets worse as the baby engages and sits on your bladder, as it's nature's way of ensuring an empty bladder when labour happens.

I had my first ante-natal class today. And we were the only ones, as no-one else shoed up. I think I am actually the only pregnant woman in the Borders. So we had a two hour session all to ourselves which was great! DH felt more informed about things and we've a few more to look forward to (unclear it we'll have a private session for those too or not!).

Have done some more painting of shelves today as well as coat one of a mirror for nursery. Hurrah.

On a bad note, DDog has chewed up my new lovely silver Birkenstocks just now in a fit of pique. Am so pissed off with her, as they were useful and comfy and I wanted themfor the weekend. Bad dog. She knows too she's annoyed me and is very guilty-looking.

Alison, I hope you're feeling a bit less stressed now? You've got great help not far away and take Imiss as an amazing happy example of medical help nowadays. My main worries (MW was sweet today when I told herbut did have a wry smile too) are tearing and also, in the heat of pushing, er, not being able to hold everything else in either...it's a total fear of mine going to the loo by mistake Blush Blush Blush. I'm dreading it!

Anyhoo, on that lovely note, am going to make DH a cuppa after his gardening efforts and watch Gok make Chinese food! xx

ishopthereforeiam · 11/06/2012 21:17

I had a birthing ball which I tried out the night before labour started... still wonder if it inadvertently kicked it all off ... Apparently it's good for opening up your hips for childbirth... either way they're quite fun frillylemons

46 days to go til I am finally bump free!

Do you need to do kegels if you're having a c/s? I did them in pg1 but haven't bothered this time?

I'm with you ishop and ham on the ever expanding girth and feeling stretched to capacity already; god knows what it will be like as still 10 weeks to go Shock. measuring average so far but I'm tall and DP is 6'7 so getting a bit worried she's already toddler size in there and they can't tell because of how I'm carrying. Ah well.

My mat cover started last week too. I know I'm lucky to have cover and a long handover, just feels a bit odd but he's nice at least :) Had a good meeting with HR today about mat leave as all seems v complicated and confusing. - how long is everyone taking off?

Consultant and MW appt this week so will see what birth options they have for me and I'll start thinking about the plan - which will broadly be as safely and pain free as possible pleeeease :)

Have a nice evening ladies Brew Wine Biscuit

ImissMiniPop · 11/06/2012 21:59

Alison try not to worry, I feel like I've taken enough for the Due in August thread, so you should all now happy and healthy third trimesters :o

I don't have bump punching my bladder anymore, but post c-section I can't actually feel my bladder again yet, which means I have to remember to go to the toilet, otherwise it's really painful Blush as it puts pressure on the bits healing inside Confused

Glad the scans are going well. :)

lemonslemonslemons · 11/06/2012 22:10

I am totally changing my name to frillylemons tomorrow...thanks ishop Wink

susiegrapevine · 11/06/2012 22:34

Hey everyone sorry about my massive crazy rant yesterday was still feeling very upset!
My family is normally supportive but my mum was tired from late ferry journey on sat night and had one too many red wines I think! Mix that with my hormones and lack of sleep due to ds and it was a receipe for disaster!!

Anyway I was at work today. Very tired due to ds keep waking and even tho dh got up as he does not work when I do it still disturbed me and I was tossing and turning!

Dh took ds to the docs and they said his throat was sore and he had a runny nose and gave him antibiotics but feel a bit fobbed off as they did not say what it could be? Anyway explains why ds is only drinking milk as it is soothing his throat. Dh tried soup today and banana milkshake (homemade) but he did not go for it, however did eat some strawberries but hope he is on the mend now!

susiegrapevine · 11/06/2012 22:37

Oh yeah forgot to say no bouncing on a ball for me at the month as at the last mw appointment she said he was breech don't wanna encourage him to go down when he's the wrong way up!! Need tp start crawling to encourage him to turn!

geekette · 12/06/2012 05:34

Anyone heard from warzone? shouldn't she be back in UK now?

Westcountrylovescheese · 12/06/2012 07:45

Geek, she posted on the Facebook page last week but no news since. Hope she's ok as she had a bleed didn't she? Warzone, are you ok?

So, 32 weeks today and had an interesting night. As soon as I got comfy LO decided to do a gymnastics session. Never felt anything like it, we had full on roll overs and stretching out where there was no space. Felt a limb for the first time as it stretched out. Very odd. At my 20 week scan LO was breech but they said not to worry but haven't known where he is since. Could that of been him turning? There was enough movement... anybody any ideas?

hamncheese · 12/06/2012 08:24

Thanks for well wishes all and advice. I felt progressivley better yesterday, did stuff because I was pissed that I rested all day previously and still felt awful but then slept well last night so I'm hoping it was some kind of muscular thing from overdoing it. Feel good today too so far so yay thanks all Thanks

That's shocking your Mum and nursery carer saying that about your face ishop! I'd be so tempted to reply in kind Wink

I've got a gym ball vino... have to keep it hidden away when I'm not on it though due to four clawed beasts lurking around who I am sure will pop it! They are a lot of fun to bounce though so DS would probably be like IT'S MINE!

I feel the same marmite generally ok in morning but by evening just pain and discomfort it's so depressing.

Asked at NCT tonight about being measured as I have not been at all and she said that a lot of places don't any more as there are inconsistencies if you have different MWs doing it and the measurements from scans are often inaccurate, like many women are measured at start of labour and told the baby is big/small and then it is normal or the opposite to what they said when it comes out. Just for info and anyone worrying...

3bears that happens very time I stand up! Baby must just bob down to bladder! It's so uncomfortable waddling through the house ha!

Hope everything goes ok with consultant today picture

Bad migginsdog! After all those nice birthday presents too

Don't know if I'm being an idiot but I haven't done any pelvic floor exercises and kind of think I won't. They give me a horrible nails on chalk board feeling. Probably going to regret this move but I'm bloody uncomfy nearly everywhere else in my body already so can't be bothered

Yay frillylemons ... just lemons was confusing me, even though you did say you were changing to lemons!

Mine likes to do that crazy stuff right as I settle in bed too west. Baby chooses which side I sleep on as I was on my left and it kept going mental then as soon as I flopped over it calmed, like it was uncomfy on the left and happy on the right. Mine was head down at both 24 and 28 week MW appointments but went for 3d scan it was across, but diagonally like head above left hip bone, bum in my right ribs. I think it moves quite a lot still if all the alien type stuff is anything to go by! It's getting a little creepy feeling when you can see limbs sticking right out or feel them convulsing away under the skin.

Also asked about cloth nappies at NCT but they are covered in 2 weeks time so will report back if find anything interesting... she will be bringing examples though so hopefully.

This post is already long but flat selling update: not heard anything from estate agent in 2 weeks and had no viewings for a month. Called yday to get annoyed at them as they clearly have dropped the ball while the person who deals with our flat has been on holiday. She says viewings are down across the board and the holidays have not helped etc and became very suddenly convinced our flat would not achieve what we wanted which is so annoying as in january they were all like yeah it'll get it's home report price no bother GRRRR. So they seem to be making it up as it goes along. Recommended making it fixed price 5k lower than home report. So we are going to look into a part exchange for the property we want to buy and see if that is feasible but I doubt it as it'll increase the mortgage a lot more. If it isn't we will probably go with the fixed price and just have to try and make it up with a good deal when we do buy or a less expensive house. Just want all this crap to be done with it's been half a year now of storage and viewings and waiting for nothing :( so going to view some properties on Saturday that are a little cheaper in preparation. Hate the idea of selling this flat for less than we bought it for 6 years ago when it is city centre and selling at the peak time for students moving Angry

Vinolover · 12/06/2012 09:05

Morning all :) Hope everyone had a good night!!!

I'm so tempted to bounce around on my childrens space hopper for the time being! It's a double one so it should accomodate me Wink. If this little monkey is late then I think I will be bouncing on it on the trampoline!

Lois Im 5'10 and DH is 6'1 and our first was 8lb 12 born 12 days late. It sounds quite heavy but he was just so long! I know my DH is nowhere near as tall as your DH but try not to worry about how big she's getting (says she who is freaking out herself at having a world record sized baby!) I remember the MW examining me with my first and her saying 'Oooo, he's a good 8lber!' I nearly freaked out but it honestly was fine :)

Susie get on all fours Wink I hope baby turns soon!

Time to get off my bottom and get to the Dr's and then a day of chilling :) Children are back at school from today!

MrsMigginslovespies · 12/06/2012 09:36

Morning all,

Sorry to hear about your ongoing flat woes Ham. Really hope it resolves itself for you soon and you can stop worrying about it all.

Am going to also get on and look at birthing balls, though not clear where it's going to live in our tiny house, complete with bad dog who I adore really even though I've not forgotten the latest shoe incident.

Have had some crazy movements that even I can feel very clearly and really hope it's not the baby flipping himself around, having been in a good position since 20 weeks. That could be the rolling waves I was mentioning before, because now, I feel a hard lump at the top of my tummy, not the bottom...will ask next week at next MW appointment. That would be the cherry on the cake, having finally got my head round a VB, then to be told baby is breech, so need complicated EMCS after all. Was feeling unreasonable and stroppy last night. DH was on the phone to his Mum for fecking ages and finally got off at 1040pm which bugged me. She always calls so late and then talks for bloody ages to him about life, love and the universe. Sigh. DH tells her too much, so there's always ammunition there, I feel. I get so tired and lumpen at night and just want some peace!

On aother note, have any of you read Caitin Moran's "How to be a Woman" book? Tis v good and interesting.

Off to paint shelves again and now mirror. Have a nice day all. x

Lovemarmite · 12/06/2012 09:42

Glad you feel a bit better today ham
Naughty mrsmiggins Ddog! birkenstocks too!

alison I have worried about it too but trying to concentrate on not worrying about it, if that makes sense?

west LO here too didn't like my position last night and so had to sleep on the other side, spent all night on that side.
Just have to say 'Ouuuuuuuchhhhhhh, Oooooooooo , Aiiiiii' the hips are really sore this morning and I'm hobbling terribly today.. maybe my hips are moving out more?

I think we're having a larger baby as we're in the top percentile of the measurements at the scans, although we were told that LO is 'good sized'. I'm only 5'3 and so my bump looks way too big as I don't just look pregnant, I look totally bulged, not sure how I can grow much more?! help!

panpipe · 12/06/2012 09:51

Ooh yes miggins that's a fab book. Slightly scary bits about childbirth and parenting etc - I won't go into detail if you haven't got that far yet! I'd try not to worry about baby's position yet - I think mine is breech and back to back at the moment but MW says there's still plenty of time for it to move. Just try and stay upright or leaning slightly forward, or getting on all fours as this should encourage baby's head back down. Apparently there's one breech position that you can still have a VB - the slightly uncomfortable sounding bum first as long as its legs are both bent towards its head Shock. I'll ask my MW to have a good check again at 34w before I panic too much but in the meantime I'm straddling the back of a chair where at all possible!

Sorry to hear about your flat selling/hunting problems ham; it's such a stressful business!

Had NCT class with a breastfeeding counsellor last night with lots of useful information but still a lot to take in! Got another normal class tonight and Lazy Daisy starts again on Thursday so it's all go for my evenings this week! Probably won't help with the general knackeredness this week.

32w today and BabyCentre app tells me that baby will put on half its birth weight between now and when it arrives. I don't think I've got room to stretch any more!

hamncheese · 12/06/2012 10:02

The hard lump in your ribs may be the bum miggins mine always has its bum in my ribs and it feels just round and similar to a head so maybe it is still is right wayish??

Also they can't force you to have an elective section just because baby is breech. If you are all geared up for a VB then you are within your rights to wait as long as you want for baby to turn or have a breech VB if you want. I guess it depends how much you don't want a section but there is always the alternative of a section later giving baby as much time as poss to move... don't feel pushed into it by the hospital or anything if it's not what you want. What's easier for them is going to be what they promote, not necesarily what you want.

We are all going to be an army of weeble wobbles at the end especially us of smaller stature (I'm 5'2) Grin my DH, me, most of his and my family aren't very tall but my brother/grandad are so hoping those genes skip this generation as they have been doing!

ishopthereforeiam · 12/06/2012 10:32

mrsm not sure it happens for everyone but with pg1 had bad diarrhea when contractions started which emptied everything out pre pushing so no accidents. Sorry if TMI but was hoping to reassure you Blush

lois I'm not working atm as gave up a few months ago but with pg1 I took a year off. You'll get 39 weeks ordinary mat leave and then the rest is additional. Either way you should be entitled to return to your old job.

Pains in lower right side, feels like a muscle has pulled is it too late for ligament stretching? ouch!

The3Bears · 12/06/2012 10:36

Morning everyone,

Glad your feeling better ham forgot to say aswell your scan pic is so cute :) sorry about your flat situation must be so stressful for you, hope something is sorted soon.
Im only 5'3 and already feel like I look too big dont really know how much more I can grow.
Baby has been doing some odd movements this morning something was sticking out on my left side not sure if it was a foot or hand but felt very funny cannot tell what position he is in now and it bugs me as i dont see my midwife for another 3 weeks and really want to know.
Not doing too much today just going to do lots of washing while the sun is out :) and ironing and then pick up ds from school and have a trip to the park. Hope everyone has a lovely, stress free Tuesday :)

Glimpers · 12/06/2012 10:47

Morning All,
Another shorty here at 5'4" and I feel huuuuge already! Not sure how much more I can stretch?! I'm sure I wasn't this big with DD, but that's probably the rose tinted glasses coming into play Smile
Just finished painting all the woodwork in baby's room and having a cuppa and some cake before starting on the spare room. Had to take a break as my hand started getting really painful Sad think the carpal tunnel is starting again Sad
Same here with the really big movements, bump started disco dancing last night in bed and even DH commented on it!
Ham would it be worth getting another agent to come round and value your place, just in case it's your current one just being idle? Whereabouts are you? Would it be an option to rent it out instead of selling?
Have a good day everyone.

ishopthereforeiam · 12/06/2012 10:52

Feeling very faint this morning. Anyone experienced this recently? It used to be a quick burst of feeling faint but this is lingering, feel very light headed...

OP posts:
panpipe · 12/06/2012 11:41

I've been having extended bouts of feeling faint ishop which I put down to my low blood pressure. Try to make sure you have snacks with you all the time to eat if you do feel woozy, or have a lie down if you can.
