oh dear, dear, dear. that sounds mega rough susie! i wish they had been more understanding with you. have a good wail! the doc will settle your boy tomorrow. that is more important.

Glimpers · 10/06/2012 21:30

frilly glad to hear things between you and DH are all good. I have been using BioOil since getting my BFP and (touchwood) haven't got any stretch marks yet!
Susie try not to stew on what your mum said. I always work on the basis that when DC's are I'll, give them what they will eat/ drink, even if it's a chocolate biscuit. At least that way they're keeping their energy stores up. Unless it's projectile vomitting, then DD gets starved as I hate cleaning up puke Grin
imiss keep meaning to say I love the name, hope baby Thomas is continuing to do well.
Just had a soak in the bath and am now laid on the sofa after doing Race For Life today. Thinking it possibly wasn't the best thing to do at nearly 7 months pg Confused

Glimpers · 10/06/2012 21:32

That should have said ill not I'll susie stupid autocorrect Angry
Meant to say as well, trust your instincts as DS's mum, you know best!

sc0ttishlass · 10/06/2012 21:52

thanks Needles for your reply.. good advice on the pelvic floor stuff and think I ought to start on that now.

I will google the raspberry leaf tea and thats good if doesnt actually help bring on labour - i was having panics about it!!!

re the working from home, I forgot your DH was a GP - definately no working from home for him then... would be a bit odd :) I will ask the mw next time I am there for her advice on DH working from home. in your past experience would you say for you it was 37 weeks last time that you really needed to hugely slow down??

glimpers - well done on the race for life - i am VERY impressed ;)
ham - hope you are feeling better.
frilly - let me know how the bio oil goes! i have the burts bees 'mama bees' stuff and so far so good! cant be doing any harm ;)

currently watching 'never let me go' - i had loved the book years back but what a sad concept - am pretty much bubbling my way through the whole film!

anyway - Night all :)
xx

Westcountrylovescheese · 10/06/2012 22:19

Glimpers WOW! Well done you! That is some going. I am impressed!

Suzie, I reckon you know best too. Your mum and grandad won't know better than you what is right. Well done for sticking up for yourself!

tashaw28 · 10/06/2012 22:23

Night all, too tired to write much even though have not left the couch since about 5pm! But kids back to school tom so early start ahead :(
30 today!!!!

ishopthereforeiam · 10/06/2012 22:43

ham are you ok? feeling better?

susie sounds like a sh*tty day and not very understanding family! Hope ds (and you) are feeling better soon?

Very Envy of frilly managing to get some zzzzs - dozed off at 4.30am last night, luckily dd slept in til almost 10 (!) she's usually up at 8.

needles sorry to hear you didn't have support over the bf thing. I bf dd til 8 months (but mixed fed since 3 months) but am quite shy so would always go to another room or express but a friend was using one of those aprons and they seem to work very well so wondering whether to try it out with this baby!?

Just settling in for the last everrrrr desperate housewives -Sad

47 days to go til I am no longer pg can't wait!!!!!!!!

ps - if anyone is looking for baby gear, Sainsbury's online has a great sale on at the mo. Baby monitors reduced from £53 to £14. Strollers, highchairs etc.

hamncheese · 11/06/2012 07:31

Bit better last night... no crazy temperature but my bump is so so sore. Does anyone else have this?

I don't know if it is the way that baby is lying or if it is just generally sore. Everytime I would wake up to change sides or go to the bathroom I felt like I was going to be sick cause it was so achey. Worried that it is hurting where the baby is. Feels a bit better now I'm sitting not lying. Maybe lying on my side is stretching as baby's weight pulls down. I really don't think I'm a big enough person to do this anymore!! :(

Considering calling the maternity assessment people... will see if baby moves much this morning, has been quite quiet since last night.

woopsidaisy · 11/06/2012 07:48

Poor hamncheese. Do you have a pillow under the bump? And one between your legs?
I was very uncomfortable in final few weeks with previous pregnancies. Starting to get that way now with this one. 'Tis grim.

NeedlesCuties · 11/06/2012 08:15

Morning!

Sorry to read bout people who are suffering, in pain, getting it in the ear from relations etc etc.

Scottish I think it was around 37 weeks last time... through the mists of time that seems about right. I think I had an odd feeling that I would never make it to 40 weeks, so wanted to be sensible and enjoy the last few weeks by sitting with my feet up. DS was born at 39 weeks, so I'm glad I had that time to chill. Everyone is different though.

glimpers I am sending you a Brew and Thanks for the Race for Life. I can barely walk up the stairs without getting puffed out!

ishop don't get me wrong, I loved bfing DS and will do it again with this DC. I bf till he was 11 months and did it everywhere - in church, in cafes, in the park etc etc. Just was awkward in front of in-laws as they were quite prudish and that translated to me as them being unsupportive.

ham hope you're feeling better soon, I think a call to MW wouldn't be amiss.

panpipe · 11/06/2012 09:10

I second, third, fourth about the not doing too much. In hindsight spending all weekend stripping wallpaper was probably not advisable - like someone else said I felt fine at the time but by last night, all night and still this morning I'm feeling really achy all over with some bump aches that I haven't had before. I think it started off some braxton hicks as well which I haven't been having yet.

Will definitely have to get plasterer in too as the plaster on the ceiling also started coming off. No idea when we can do that though - there's no way I can take time off work between now and finishing so we might have to chance it and wait until I'm on mat leave. Cue new panic about how long before baby arrives you should have painted...

Hope you all have a good day; I'm on the way to work and can't blimmin' wait until I don't have this commute any more!

ishopthereforeiam · 11/06/2012 10:34

how're you this morning ham? Def getting to the late stage is a pain in the bum per woopsi... or a pain in the tum even. I prop a pillow under the bump but have to change sides often and it can get quite sore although my pains are more like I have pulled something if I stand up too quickly after bending down?

So last week my mum said "oh you're face is getting round isn't it?" I ignored although a bit pssed off (although it is true my face is swelling and did with pg1 too in the last month or so). This morning - carer at dd's nursery "oh you're cheeks are getting big aren't they" - all I can say is "yes and I've got a double chin". I know people are just trying to show an interest in the pg but I feel like a heifer and these comments aren't helping. Yes my once oval face now looks round as the moon. Yes my previously too flat bum is now humungous. Yes I do have a double chin, and yes it may be due to the ice cream and chocolate rather than the pregnancy!!!!! RANT OVER* Sad Angry Sad

Hello,

Been busy so not been on much but had a quick catch up imiss Love the name Thomas v cute, Our kitten is called that ds named him after the v famous train :)
ham Really hope your feeling better today, i've been abit sore at times but it usual goes the day after, ring hospital if you feel off today. In my first pregnancy I had to go hospital at about 28 weeks as I was in so much pain was kept in all day but they put it down to growing pains and all the stretching etc my body was going through, maybe it's the same for you this is your 1st pregnancy isnt it so hopefully it's that but still get it checked out.
susie sorry about your family being so awful, hope you had a good cry to let it all out and drs goes okay today for your ds.
panpie I agree with not doing too much, when i've been v busy and not stopped all day i've had v strong braxton hicks in the evening so definitely leaving the big jobs to dp now.

Just having a nice relaxing day with ds today he's back at school tomorrow and I know alot of people look forward to them going back to school but i dont, I really miss him :( Looking forward to him seeing all his friends though as he has misses them. 2 months today till im due really hope I dont go over again as it's just the worst feeling when people ask you, has anyone got a birthing ball yet? was thinking of getting one but not too sure as im sure ds will be fighting me for it and throwing it around the living room Grin
Hope everyone has a lovely day and people who are feeling unwell and tired feel better soon.

Vinolover · 11/06/2012 10:55

Good morning all :)

Sorry to those who are feeling poorly and not sleeping :( It's not much fun being pregnant when you feel awful too!

I've started the raspberry leaf tea a week early as I figured it can't hurt. It doesn't induce labour and my two were both late anyway! Due date is two months today and the thought of going over again fills me with dread :( I know where you're coming from 3bears! Im thinking of getting a birthing ball too to bounce on as I would like my fella to engage now and get that pressure on my cervix and I know bouncing on a ball is meant to help.

Is anybody else massivly hungry now? I swear nothing is satisfying me at the moment and Im spending all day wondering what I can put in my mouth! It seems to come in stages because some weeks I've been fine. I suppose it's the baby having a growing spurt.

Right, time for my daily Mocha and then out for lunch :) Back to work tonight after a week off :( 5 weeks till maternity leave though!

Have a good day :)

Lovemarmite · 11/06/2012 11:09

ham hope you're feeling a bit better?
Not sure if it's the same at all but I've been getting terrible pains in my tummy, being stretched beyond belief but feeling as though LO is lying across my belly when I've been walking around and I'm finding eating hard as everything seems to bloat me, including water - ah! By the evening I'm on the sofa looking glum as I feel so large and unable to breathe properly, move because I ache etc, just hoping it gets better asap.

Bought raspberry leaf tea too and starting it today. I think I will start as your suggestions vino, 1 cup to start with, 2 and then 3... the lady in neals yard recommended it with nettle tea and you can have 3 cups straight away but I think I might ease myself in gently to the course of tea.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 11/06/2012 11:34

Hi All!!

FYI - I iwll be changing my name soon (I think). Something to do with lemons as I am literally addicted! Just a heads up.

ishop, I am dreading people saying that to me!! I really hope it doesnt happen, but it is pretty much inevitable :(

5 weeks, eh Vino? I have 5 weeks of 40 hours then 2 weeks of 20 hours (half days) and I am so excited! Trianing up me replacement is interesting though. My job is so...well...mine! It's hard to train someone else!!

Is anyone else having to train up people to take over their job?

panpipe · 11/06/2012 12:42

Marmite I've been having the same as you recently where I don't feel that I can fit any food or drink in. Not sure if baby is squashing my stomach or something but one day last week I had a salad for lunch and it took me about 3 hours to eat by the time I had access to my stomach for more than 5 minutes. Also glad to hear someone else is struggling with even fitting water in; I thought it was me being weird!

Frilly my maternity cover person comes in the week after next for five days handover. Writing up notes at the moment for her, and now it comes to actually sitting down thinking about it I get the horrible feeling that I'm going to miss something!

Lovemarmite · 11/06/2012 15:35

panpipe - sounds like we're definitely having similar stomach feelings - it's pants!
Was reading that you're meant to just up the protein/calories a little bit in the 3rd trimester, ie one piece of toast and baked beans. But ah! I can't manage my usual diet and have lessened it over the past few days. Thinking small meals more often and so might have a few bowls of rice krispies in between my meal snacks.

LO/bump went very hard at around lunch and luckily it's now stopped - do you think this is when they turn and face inwards and so she was pushing out? I wonder if she is kicking me out with both her feet at times?!

Vinolover · 11/06/2012 15:43

Still 5 weeks of 40hrs Frilly???? Poke that! Im only doing about 18hrs per week and that's enough! Although that's been cut again which is fine by me because Im ready for the off now :) It's going to be nice not having to rush the children to school and race back for them and not being around all day saturdays. My house is still a building site but hopefully the living areas will be sorted by august! I still won't have my extension or proper kitchen so to speak though :(

I'm just having 1 cup a day Marmite and will increase it every couple of weeks. We're so close now :)

alisonmcg · 11/06/2012 16:22

Frilly I'm jealous...I still have 7 weeks left of 45 hour weeks :( get tired even at the thought of it! Very jealous of everyone who is on maternity leave soon!

It's been pretty busy on here since I last posted so will need to have a bit of a catch up! Spent yesterday babysitting my 3 week old nephew which was great, he fell asleep lying on my chest was so cute and has made me ridiculously excited about our wee arrival!

This is going to sound really morbid and I'm sorry for bringing it up but I have found myself becoming really really worried about stillbirth. I have had nothing wrong during this pregnancy and have no basis for this fear whatsover, it's just that I seem to have read quite a lot about it over the last few days which has just engrained the idea into my head and also there are quite a few new babies in my family this year and all have been born with no problems and I'm worrying that statistically one of the pregnancies might go wrong and it'll be me! I know I'm being irrational but I can't seem to get it out of my head and it's really bugging/upsetting me. Is anyone else finding themselves worrying about things like these even though there is no real reason to or am I just slowly going mad with this pregnancy?!?

Gnomi · 11/06/2012 17:03

6 weeks (minus one day) left here! Although now year 11 have left there's a bit more space to breathe. I'll be 38 weeks when I start maternity leave, so I guess there's always a chance that LO will come early. They've actually employed someone to cover me for a year, a subject specialist and everything. I've never known this to happen in the 7 years I've worked in different schools. It makes me feel quite privileged.

Had my midwife appointment today - the bump is measuring around the 80th centile which I find a bit scary, but the midwife said it could all be due to how the baby is lying. She also said his head is starting to descend into my pelvis which is even scarier! I have been sitting on a birthing ball though - just a cheapo Tesco one for a fiver! Might be an idea for you Vino? When should the baby get into a good position?

Started packing my hospital bag too, but I still have a whole list of things to buy, including top and tail bowls which my hospital insists on but everything I've read says not to bother with!

Alison, I think we all have fears, but there's very little you can do. Somewhere there's a Count the Kicks thread, which might help you to allay your fears.

Marmite my bump was really hard and high up on Sunday when I woke up - it soon settled back to normal. I thought it was his hips. He's definitely a wriggler though.

Going to get some raspberry leaf tea tomorrow Smile

panpipe · 11/06/2012 17:54

Alison I'm terrified too; keep thinking about the what ifs. I think it may be due to having a MC last year so I keep thinking if I was in the unlucky statistic that time then what's to stop it happening again? Try to focus on the positives which are a lot more likely to happen Smile

The3Bears · 11/06/2012 18:25

alison I think everyone worries a little but it cant be good for you or baby to constantly worry about it :( I try not to read things about it etc as I am a worrier and I know it would stay on my mind, like panpipe said try to think of the positives.

Gnomi I was going to get that ball in tesco the other day is it a good size :) I measured slightly bigger at my last midwife appt but she said baby was lay long and stretched out so hoping he's curled up more this time, dont see my midwife for another 3 weeks yet :(

Bump has had me abit worried today as not been moving as much but I guess thats to be expected as it's very cramped in there now im guessing, has anyone else been the same? Not going to ring midwife yet as I have felt a few movements today so just keeping an eye on it for now.

Also going to get some RLT tomorrow :)

I second whoever said about eating non stop atm For the past couple of days Ive not been able to stop thinking about food, baby must be on a growth spurt.

Does anyone else get a very strange sensation when they have been lay down or lounging on the sofa and then when you get up and you feel like you have to run to the toilet, must be baby dropping on my bladder but it feels very odd have to hold the bottom of my bump for a minute as it feels so heavy???

lemonslemonslemons · 11/06/2012 18:33

I have that Bears! Rush to the loo but very little comes out! Naughty baby!!

I also find getting up harder and harder. Not just up in the morning, I'm talking off the sofa, out of the bath (that's the worst!) even standing up after sitting at my desk. It's like I forget how heavy I am!

So...what do birthing balls do? Are they the ones you sit on and bounce? This is frilly by the way Grin Just fancied a name change...so addicted to lemons right now!

Whiteangel · 11/06/2012 18:35

Gnomi, my replacement started today, yipee! We are expecting ofsted straight away in Sep so SLT have employed two new staff to replace a long term supply and me. I have now been charged with getting up to speed before I go off. Don't think I would make it 6 more weeks with my usual teaching timetable. Great to be able to focus on the behind the scenes stuff whilst someone else does the hard bit. Spent most of today correcting reports but still exhausted! I'll also be 38 weeks when we finish. Fingers crossed all goes to plan!
