Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

D3 I'm exactly the same - feel like people can tell I'm pg just by looking at me! The swollen boobs are probably a giveaway though!

Hi flying I got the app for what to expect last night and love it already, going to get the full book version for my kindle too I think Smile

Re telling people, I've sworn DH to secrecy (his mother is a complete blabber mouth Hmm) but I've secretly told my best friend and a work colleague I wanted to chat to for advice. I trust both of them not to spill anyway. I don't plan on telling anyone else for a little while yet. Is anybody else nervous about telling their parents?! This is silly but I feel like I've been a bit naughty and I'm not grown up enough to have a baby! (despite having a husband, mortgage, career etc, surely a baby comes next?!) plus it means that my dad will finally have to acknowledge the fact that his little girl has had sex! Grin

Mamabelle · 10/06/2012 09:48

Morning :)
I know what you mean about telling people, it's difficult isn't it. I think I was about 9 weeks when I caved in and told everyone the first time round, but I'm going to try and wait until after my 1st scan, just to be on the safe side. I'm not going to be popular at work though as a colleague has just announced she's expecting too, oops!

Mamabelle · 10/06/2012 09:57

Lol Queenof
I burst into tears when I told my parents about DD. It was so emotional, I was nervous, embarrassed, proud, excited and terrified all rolled into one. My Dad was speechless for ten minutes straight!

Pinkie29 · 10/06/2012 09:58

Haha queen when I told my dad I actually said 'now you'll know I've 'been up to no good' at least once!' he just laughed! I chickened out and told them over the phone tho!

This sounds terrible but I don't trust any of my friends not to blab! Only trusted my work colleague as she's part of management so it's confidential so to speak. My mates would do the old 'oh don't say anything but...' and before I know it everyone would know! One is already very suspicious as I'm on 'antibiotics' for another 3 weeks and I have 7 weeks till my scan!

BabylannShallFall · 10/06/2012 10:00

Welcome everyone, and congratulations.

We've told our family and close friends, basically anyone we would want to tell if I had a miscarriage anyway. Particularly DPs family who can be quite unintentionally insensitive.

Is anyone else feeling fluttering and mini kicks? Beginning to wonder if I'm further asking than I thought!

QueenOfTheDrama · 10/06/2012 10:06

I'm going to try to give it another week at least before I tell my parents I think, just to let the news completely sink in myself first as still honestly can't believe it Grin

baby don't think I can feel anything yet, maybe a couple of little twinges but thats all. Is this your first?

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 10/06/2012 10:09

I know what you mean queen I felt quite irrationally embarrassed telling my make boss last time! Felt like I was saying look I've had seexxxx !

Which is silly, I went red and everything.

BabylannShallFall · 10/06/2012 10:25

No it's my second. We just got the fetal heart monitor out of the pantry and no heartbeat, so probably not far along after all!

I guess it's just the feelings of my uterus expanding, etc.

QueenOfTheDrama · 10/06/2012 11:01

haha pickle Grin

baby yes I've read quite a lot the last couple of days about feeling mild cramps etc as the uterus expands. Its reassuring in a way that everything is going well in there?

eggandbean · 10/06/2012 12:24

Re: pets - I do worry how my dear cat will be once the baby is born. At the moment SHE is my gorgeous baby and I find it hard to believe I could love anything more than her but everybody says your pets take a back seat once you have 'pink babies' (as we call them!!). I can't wait to find out!

D30 - I think I'm going to use a 'bad back' excuse to get me out of going at all, or going on the rides.. it's going to be SO hard though, I absolutely love rollercoasters! Hope you come up with a good excuse too. Also, yes I know what you mean that it feels like people will know. I've had a week off work too and am also worried about people somehow knowing tomorrow. I'm sure it's just in our heads though. I would say you just need to think about being a healthy weight for your baby (whatever that is..) I'm sure you won't put anything like 4.5 stone back on (well done for losing all that by the way, impressive!). Whatever you are now, you can't be too overweight now or you wouldn't have got pregnant, right? I'm conscious of not letting myself think "I'm eating for 2 - time to pig out!" and I reckon if I don't let myself fall into that trap it should be OK.

mrsfleur -yes this forum really is a godsend! Don't worry about saying the same thing as me.. there are so many posts in so little time it's hard to read them all and keep up with them!

FlyingSubmarine - I've calculated 14th Feb too, that makes 3 of us with Pinkie. Of course it doesn't mean that much, their actual birthday in the end is what matters.

Pinkie - I'd not thought about the antibiotics excuse, I like it! We're supposed to be going for a full day's drinking session on a canal boat with work in a few weeks so I might use that one to get out of that...but yes thinking of excuses for another 7 - 8 weeks is a tall order!

I can't wait to tell my parents, but know I'll be nervous. Going to wait until after the 1st scan anyway.

Pinkie29 · 10/06/2012 12:28

I suffer from utis a fair bit so it's a believable excuse that I'd be on a long course to clear me out, of course first thing my friend says is 'you pregnant?!' not sure how I kept a straight faceHmm

Oh I'm currently laying on the bed feeling queasy! I have to go for dinner at 3 with a friend so hoping it passes!

eggandbean · 10/06/2012 12:40

Hope it passes soon Pinkie, you've got a bit of time still... :)

Meant to say I love the 'WTE' app.. especially that it tells me my baby is the size of an orange seed at the moment, how cute! (can't wait for that to update)

Pinkie29 · 10/06/2012 13:53

I read in another site that it's the size if a poppy seed so have been calling the baby Poppy haha, keep telling dp 'Poppy's hungry, Poppy's thirsty, Poppy's tired' Smile

D30rvg · 10/06/2012 13:58

egg the 'bad back' excuse is a good one. Might take that one for myself. Luckily I've cut back on drinking a lot due to diet so friends don't tend to question when I opt for a diet coke over a glass of wine so I don't need to use the antibiotics excuse.

In regards to pets we have a pet dog who has been with us for 3 years. She is quite tolerant of young children but in small doses & you can see when she gets fed up. I worry that she is going to feel pushed out by a baby coming into the house so will have to put strategies in place for that.

As mentioned before, we have decided to tell parents tonight. We are taking them for a meal, which is not uncommon & they are under the impression that we need medical intervention to get pregnant (as were we until the bfp) so no one suspects the news they will be told. I am either 3 or 6 weeks (depending on dates) so it is early to tell people but these are who we would want to support us if anything were to happen & so they would find out anyway. I'm also going to be telling my closest friend in work tomorrow but that is just so I've got someone to back me up on the excuse front & cover me if necessary. No one else is being told yet.

mrsfleur · 10/06/2012 14:42

pinkie Poppy is one of our names, love that she/he is that size now :)

BabylannShallFall · 10/06/2012 14:45

Downloaded the app. Apparently mines the size of a sweetpea. Don't think I want to call my baby Sweetpea though :( Maybe as a pet name!

spottypyjamas · 10/06/2012 15:04

Hello everyone, hope i'm OK to join. Got a BFP last Thursday, over the moon but completly terrified (like a lot of you guys on here really!) Lovely to read about what everyone else is experiencing, whats normal etc. It's my first so each little twinge and i'm questioning what's what.

I have PCOS and long cycles, according to my calucations (was charting, doing OPK's and temp etc) i ovulated on day 52 of my cycle. Due date calucators don't even accept this. I'm obviously really worried as it's not "normal" to ovulate so late and i don't know if this means i have more chance of problems. Going to doctors tomorrow anyway so that's a good starting point.

If all were to work out due date would be mid Feb i guess, but if you go by my last period i'm already 2 and a half months pregant which i'm really not!

x

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 10/06/2012 15:17

I'm still on a poppy seed! I got really confused by the weeks, I think i am in week four, thats so early.

QueenOfTheDrama · 10/06/2012 16:54

I'm on poppy seed too pickle cute isn't it? Smile

Hi spotty congratulations! I'm sure the doctor/midwife will be able to help you out with due dates etc. Speaking of that - has everybody called their doctor already? I'm going to be 4 weeks tomorrow, should I call tomorrow then? Its been probably a couple of years since I was last at the doctors but from what I remember its normally a couple of weeks wait for an appointment if its not an emergency Confused

FlyingSubmarine · 10/06/2012 16:56

I'm a poppy seed too, it seems so tiny! We have told our parents (who are sworn to secrecy) and one couple we are close friends with, who have been there before, so we can ask for advice. I'm slightly worried that I'm just going to blurt it out randomly at some point at work!

I am swinging between being really excited and really scared, but still excited! Grin

QueenOfTheDrama · 10/06/2012 17:03

Exactly the same here flying - excited because its what we wanted and its taken us a while to get here. But terrified of the unknown and the fact that our lives are about to be turned upside down.

Sounds like most people have told their parents then? In a way I'd quite like to have my mum on board but once I've told her she'll be constantly fussing, I know what shes like! Might give it another week then think about telling them.

Pinkie29 · 10/06/2012 17:21

I'm really liking the name Poppy too Smile we're not going to find out either. I feel so much better today think its finally starting to sink in, im worried about it slipping out at work too and am desperate to tell people!! We're going to keep it from as many as poss till our scan tho, will be 5 weeks tomorrow! I never realised they also counted the 2 weeks before conception too!

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 10/06/2012 17:56

They made me go to drs. Waste of time really, she didn't care at all they should have just made my booking appt, which was about 7 weeks I think. In away next week so am going to call I. The Tuesday when I get back when I'll be 5 weeks and it will seem real.

Pinkie29 · 10/06/2012 18:32

Picked it took 3 days for my midwife to ring me! Wasn't happy some surgeries really need to look at how they treat us crazy pg women!

My dp came back from town with a big book called 'everything you need to know about pregnancy' he hasn't put it down! Nice to see him taking an interest I've heard some terrible stories from friends fellas not caring at all!

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 10/06/2012 18:39

I've got a lot to sort. I had a blood disorder from my last birth which was pretty rare, I get the impression the consultant really wanted me to get pg again so he had someone to study!

I've got an appointment there on 2nd July but haven't mentioned I'm pg yet. Think I'll call them all at 5 weeks.
