Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

Thanks Queen and MrsM80! Congrats to you both and everyone else as well! The nearest chemist is a bit of a trek away, so I think I'll just drop a sample in to the GP. DC1's only 2.5, but I've completely forgotten the procedure re midwives, appts etc. I guess it depends partly where you are. I'm looking forward to getting a due date! My birthday's at the end of Feb, so I'm kind of hoping it'll be nearby :)

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 23:01

You can't get a better birthday present than a baby!! My birthday is in March, can't believe I'll have a baby by then! Grin

angrytree · 15/06/2012 08:38

Morning ladies! Well, last night I experienced the total inability to sleep that I'd had in the early days of my first pregnancy, added to which my toddler kept waking up and making weird demands (he'd obviously been dreaming), so I'm a tad sleepy this morning. No way am I giving up coffee!

Pinkie29 · 15/06/2012 09:50

My sleep has been so erratic! I wake up about 5am everyday and sometimes I get back to sleep... Sometimes I don't! Thankfully this week i haven't been as tired as I was, had a brief panic when I woke at 2am and my boobs didn't hurt Hmm back to tender this morning! Think I might have had a tiny spot of blood too Sad been less crampy the last two days but thinking my little poppy may be taking a rest until the growth spurt on week 7 Smile

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/06/2012 09:51

Welcome angrytree

Glad to hear bleeding has stopped D30, hope everything settles down for you!

Bean - Good luck with Father's Day! I was going to hold out on telling my dad til then but this is his #2 grandchild (our DS is #1!) and he cried when we told him then christmas before DS was born. Old softie! So this time I just phoned and told my mum and told her to break the news to him gently hee

Queen / JN80 - I'd also recommend swimming!! I've reluctantly decided to give up zumba so going to hit the pool next week instead and sign up for a pregnancy yoga class when i hit 2nd trimester. Also, I'm in Belfast, so no help to you in deciding on hospitals, sorry!

eggandbean - ignore all the labour stories!! I refused to read any when it was my first time because it makes no difference...what goes up must come down (or out!) so no point in panicking yourself about it all. Even after the awful time I had last time I'm still blithely putting it to the back of my mind for the minute.

The last remaining place that I had a bit of baby weight from DS was round my tummy, tho I was still getting into size 12 trousers no probs. My boobs haven't got bigger or anything yet but I just stuck on a black dress today over leggings and there is def a small bump!! I know u show a bit quicker your second time but this is flipping ridiculous - a lady at mum & toddler y'day asked if i wanted a softer chair to sit on and i wondered what she was on about but just took a look at myself in the mirror and i can def see it, lady with a baby coming through Grin Going up to the in-laws to dig out my massive suitcase of maternity clothes on Sunday!

Pinkie29 · 15/06/2012 10:06

eggbean im skipping over the terrible labour/cs stories too (no offence to anyone) I suffer greatly from anxiety so don't want to worry myself about anything, my mum had great labours 8hrs 72hrs (me!) and 6hrs I took my time but didn't cause her any hassle hehe!

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/06/2012 10:40

Pinkie - If you genuinely feel anxious, try the hypnobirthing CDs. They really made me feel very relaxed about it all and I've already stuck them back on my iPod again!

BabylannShallFall · 15/06/2012 10:40

Yeah don't worry about the terrible stories, they're in the minority and every birth is different. I'm most jealous of DP's sister, two very short, easy labours! One of them was half an hour from the first contraction before baby popped out! No stitches or anything Grin

Had a big long talk with DP about it all last night. He's gonna book the day off for my consultation and do all the talking to make sure I get an ELCS as I've decided that's definitely what I want :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/06/2012 10:44

Half an hour! Flip me!

Pinkie29 · 15/06/2012 10:46

Oh will do littlemiss thank you!

Half hour is a amazing, I'm sure my dp has spent longer on the loo!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/06/2012 10:48

lol @ Pinkie! My next door neighbour had her first in 40 minutes, her second in 3.5 hours Envy

angrytree · 15/06/2012 11:14

Totally agree with the advice not to read other people's birth stories. People are only interested in telling the horror stories, so you get a distorted view of labour, when actually the majority of births are just fine.

Although I enjoyed my first pregnancy, I worried constantly, first about the risk of miscarriage, then about when I'd feel the baby move, then whenever it stopped moving, then the labour terror set in. In the end I went two weeks overdue and had to be induced. By that stage I was just thinking 'get this thing out of me!' and couldn't wait for labour to start!

Pinkie29 · 15/06/2012 11:16

You sound the same as me angrytree! I was moaning to dp I hadn't had much cramping the last few days he's like 'you moan when you cramp, you moan when you dont!' haha! Oddly as I complained i got one!

moo21753 · 15/06/2012 11:35

Hi everyone,
Congratulations. Its my first time on one of these groups. Got a BFP on tuesday. I think i'm still in shock. its our first and we've been ttc for 29 months. Was a long hard process but I'm now 5 weeks and so excited. Not sure whats normal and whats not at the moment. Felt exhausted yesterday and slept for about 11 hours, and cramping a bit. Trying not to be worried but it's all so new.

ickleboy · 15/06/2012 11:43

Hello All, may I join your February team?!
Now that i am over the shock of finding out last weekend that i am pregnant i am beginning to relax into the process. I am 38, first pregnancy (unplanned!)
DP being amazingly supportive and my head is slowly catching up with my body!! So lovely to read your stories and news. Other than feeling really really tired and cramps i feel ok, hopefully things are progressing ok!!
Looks like i may be due 14th Feb 13, been to GP and back in 2 weeks time to be referred to MW team.
Keep well everyone and look forward to hearing your news and views. This thread has been fantastically reassuring for me - thank you!!

perfectshadeofgrey · 15/06/2012 11:57

For anyone worried about excercise in pregnancy. If you and your pregnancy are OK you can carry on as usual (running, zumba, abs, pretty much everything except contact sports). I did loads when I was pregnant with DD (until week 40!) and I'm glad I did. You feel better and stronger and believe me you will need strenght when you are in labour and when the little one arrives :)
For understandable reasons people are really worried about doing abs in pregnancy but really for the 12 weeks you can do everything as usual. After that you need to change the excercises a bit but you can still do a lot.

Sorry if this sounded like a lecture :)

MrsM80 · 15/06/2012 12:05

Welcome moo and ickleboy and many congratulations to you both!

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/06/2012 13:19

Perfectshade - glad u said that, I really want to keep going to zumba but everyone keeps telling me what a bad idea it is. I just did walking and swimming last time I was preg but i'd like to stay in top shape this time.round, so thanks for vote of confidence in.favour of exercise!

Hello new ladies & welcome!

perfectshadeofgrey · 15/06/2012 13:36

little - I did the following in my first pregnancy:
zumba - until about week 28 (stopped because I was getting frustrated that I couldn't keep up with the class :o
step - until week 40 (obviously slowed down gradualy and lowered the step)
pilates - until week 40
body pump - until week 39 (stopped because the kept asking me - are you still here?)
swimming - not much because I hate the smell of chlorine :o
gym - weights etc.. throughout
the only think I stopped early on was running and that's because I'm not really a runner. I don't really like it so thought cool, I don't have to do it ;)

I don't want to sound like I'm boasting I just want to show people that it's OK to carry on with exercise. (IF you and the baby are OK).

Hello & congrats to all newcomers :)

zanywany · 15/06/2012 14:14

Hoping to join you guys. Had 2 faint positive tests and going to do a digi clear blue on Sunday. The worrying has already kicked in, is it just a chemical pregnancy, how will my DS handle the news (I am due to re marry next year).

angrytree · 15/06/2012 14:16

Wow, perfect, I'm impressed that you do that much exercise even when you're not pregnant! I'm not much of a fitness bod, though I'd love to tone up a bit. It's not really feasible for me to get to any classes, but I think I'll try and go swimming once a week, and maybe get a pregnant pilates or yoga DVD. I love walking too, and am planning to do more of that once the weather improves a bit! Breastfeeding was an extremely effective weight loss plan after DC1 was born - by the time he was 8 months I was slimmer than I had been before I got pregnant (unfortunately I've put some of it back on again though!).

somethingwittynot · 15/06/2012 14:19

Can I join please? MN calculator puts me at EDD 22/02/2013 where by my dates and apps I'm 4+3 and EDD is 19/02/13

angrytree · 15/06/2012 14:20

Welcome zany, and hopefully we can offer congratulations by the weekend ;)

angrytree · 15/06/2012 14:20

Congrats something :)

MrsM80 · 15/06/2012 14:27

Oh my god! I so can't concentrate today. The office is very quiet and all I keep thinking about is baby, baby, baby! Have my 1st appointment with GP on monday and can't wait! I reckon I'm just over 5 weeks along and according to due date calculator should be due on 15 Feb 2013! It'll be my first!

Welcome to all the new ladies!
