Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 16:34

Aww thats such a sweet idea bean Smile I'll probably cry when I tell my dad! I'm thinking of getting DH a surprise Father's Day card as well Smile

morecoffeemorecoffee · 14/06/2012 16:35

Just remembered my experience with maternity bras. I got a few from mothercare which had those clips to release the cup so you could use them for breast feeding after the birth. I also had the sort of sports bra ones which were sooooooo comfy and very supportive. They were good to sleep in aswell.

Found myself looking at breast pads and baby grows in the supermarket today Blush

I have also switched to decaff tea, although my morning filter coffee is still made with 50% full caff and 50% decaff.

I'm in south west.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 14/06/2012 16:38

How exciting bean and queen , let us know how it goes! :)

Pinkie29 · 14/06/2012 16:39

Queen basically they give you a good fit with the size they measure you up to and they fit it on the tightest hook so I've got 4 hooks to let out and also the straps to adjust as my cup size increases, she said if it gets uncomfortable in a few months or too tight go back and see her before buying another size as sometimes women don't adjust them properly so might not necessarily need a new one

BeanDunne · 14/06/2012 16:50

Im gonna get DP a card and make him a nice dinner aswell. He is just so excited, yesterday he said if he could jump to feb he would and miss our wedding grr

D30rvg · 14/06/2012 17:41

Hi Guys

Thanks for your messages. I've just got home from work. No more sign of blood which is a relief. Had some crampy pains but put that down to expanding uterus. Cannot stop peeing! I think it may be because ie stopped drinking caffeinated drinks & upped the water. Nuisance though.

Queen I'm in Liverpool too. I've chosen the women's. Although I live between the Women's & Ormskirk I work round corner from women's so it will be convienient for scans & check ups etc. Also, we have been dealing with the women's for the past year in regards to fertility & we have been so impressed with the way they work & the expertise that is on hand. Hope that helps.

I may be mad but I was buying my dad a father's day card the other day & found one off 'the bump'. I couldn't resist buying it for dh. Not sure if too early though Confused

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 18:08

D30 great news to hear the bleeding has stopped. I'm getting some quite strong crampy pains today but like you I'm putting it down to uterus expanding and trying not to worry. Good to hear your views on the Women's hosp, I've heard some good things about Ormskirk too but would prefer the Women's to be honest as we live closer to there so would be easier for appointments, DH visiting if I had to stay in, etc. Having said that though, when I was on the phone yesterday booking my first midwife appointment they told me I'd probably have most of my appointments with the midwife either at my GP or at the local children's centre, and have my scans at the children's centre too. She said I might not even go to the Women's at all until I actually deliver Confused Have you heard the same thing?

pinkie thanks for explaining about the bras! Blush Going to get some too if my boobs keep expanding at the rate they are!

Well my mum now knows our little secret Grin She called round to mine unexpectedly on her way home from work and I just blurted it out! She was shocked but pleased for us Smile She said my dad has had a really stressful day, so I have sworn her to secrecy and will tell him myself over the weekend hopefully - maybe on father's day actually! Smile

MrsM80 · 14/06/2012 18:34

So jealous of some of you telling parents etc. DH and I have agreed that we want to tell our parents the same day so neither set feel like the other knew before them. My parents go on hol next week and can't get to see them all in the same weekend until 7 July when I'll be about 8 weeks. It's killing me already!

On the plus side I've just come back from my first run since I found out I'm pregnant (Sunday). Took it very easy as was a bit tentative but I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt really good. I love running and would be gutted if I couldn't do it through pregnancy. Read up lots about it and I hear it's good for both me and baby so bring it on!

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 18:44

mrsm80 I think its fine to do exercise that you're already used to, the advice is just to not take up anything new or strenuous. Must say I'm impressed though, I love running too but haven't managed to do any since last week! Blush

DH isn't bothered about telling his parents yet - we only want our parents to know, not siblings just yet, but we both know his mother would promise not to say anything and then promptly tell the world! So DH would rather give it a few more weeks or so before we tell her. However I told him that I wanted to tell my own mum because if anything were to happen I'd want her support. He was fine with that, so my mum now knows Smile Actually looking forward to telling my dad too now, although the very thought makes me a tad emotional!

BeanDunne · 14/06/2012 18:51

god queen and d30 imagine you gave birth at the same time in the same place. That would be cool...
Cool isn't a cool word anymore is it?

JNO18 · 14/06/2012 18:52

Can I join you ladies? Got my bfp yesterday after we'd been trying for 18 months. It's our 1st & I'm in total shock. Don't think it's sunk in but been v distracted in work the last 2 days. We're telling both sets of parents this weekend. It's my mother in laws bday so hopefully that'll be a nice present for her :-)

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 18:55

I still use cool sometimes! Does that make me uncool?! Wink

I'll be eyeballing all of the other women on the ward wondering if any of them are D30 Grin

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 18:58

Welcome JNO18 and congratulations! I was trying for a while too and really wasn't expecting it so I understand the shock thing! I still keep having moments where I wonder if I imagined the whole thing. Still been testing every day too just to keep seeing the line come up! (disclaimer - I have a few internet cheapies left, I have not been buying expensive tests every day!)

MrsM80 · 14/06/2012 18:58

Welcome JNO18 and congratulations! I only joined yesterday and think I'm addicted to this site already!

eggandbean · 14/06/2012 19:28

Pinkie - I had my bra fitting today, lovely lovely lady in M&S, got 2 't-shirt' bras for £16, they are actually the same size I am now (34C) but MASSIVE?! She just said "the sizes are generous!"

These mentions of 3 days of labour are making me just a tad scared!! I keep saying to DH that I can't really get my head round having a baby or childbirth or any of that stuff yet, as I am still adjusting to the idea of being pregnant and the effect that is having on my body. Once I get past the first trimester, I may begin to tackle the whole "oh geez, we're actually having a baby!" aspect of things.

morecoffee - glad your gp was so good and a nice experience.

Queenof - I'm the same, I felt really sad my docs said I just need to come in at 8 weeks to see the midwife and again if it wasn't for you lot and the internet I'd be so utterly clueless on everything. As it goes, I'll only be about 6.5 weeks when I do see the mw :)

bean / queenof - enjoy telling the parents what a cute idea about the grandad card... I am almost tempted to do that even though we agreed not to tell them until 12 weeks... but the sad thing is it would only be in the post as they are in London and I'm in Leeds so we weren't planning to meet up this weekend.
I am definitely going to get DH a 'happy father's day love from the bean' card, I LOVE that idea queenof, thank you!!

MrsM80 I'm big into running too, we started trying the day after I ran the Manchester Marathon at the end of April :) (so yes, happened v quickly, I know full well how lucky we are!) And as timing goes, I've been injured since the marathon too so I am dying to get out for that first run since knowing about being pregnant too. Do you race much? I'll definitely miss that. I finally got a Good For Age time for the London Marathon next year but I'll have to miss it, doh!

MrsM80 · 14/06/2012 19:37

egg I do race quite a bit. Raced a couple of 5k's and 10k's while pg but didn't know! I did London Marathon this year and started trying for a baby afterwards (also end of April) so like you it happened very quickly too! Shame about you being injured. Hope you recover soon and can get out running. I just hope tiredness, sickness etc doesn't stop me as I'm yet to start with those!

JNO18 · 14/06/2012 19:48

Thanks ladies. I just feel scared that its not all real. Been googling chemical pregnancies.

Have also been wondering about exercise. I sometimes go to a bums & tums class but there are loads of sit ups and I'd be worried something was going to go wrong. Is anyone else exercise at the mo?

eggandbean · 14/06/2012 20:00

MrsM80 I'm sure those races won't have harmed anything if it was early on. Injury a long story but I should hopefully be running again in a couple of weeks, determined to get back into it before I have to stop again! I think you have to play it by ear and just keep going for as long as it feels OK to.

JNO18 I've been told be a couple of people that exercises like that should be OK until 12 weeks but then you mustn't do any sit ups or things on your back. And then obviously at some point you won't be able to do any lying on your front either! The important thing would be to tell the instructor in the class and make sure you feel happy that they know what they are talking about as they should give you advice and alternative versions of exercises.

As I'm not able to run at the moment I'm just swimming lots, been 4 times this week! But I ususally go just once or twice a week. Can't rave about swimming enough, and as you are weightless in water it shouldn't matter how big and bulging you get! :) Hope that's true... planning to swim right throughout my pregnancy if practical.

MrsM80 · 14/06/2012 20:40

I don't swim much but plan on swimming more during my pregnancy as I do enjoy it when I go. My gym doesn't have a pool but I can use one a few miles away with my membership so I've no excuse really. I run for an athletics club and haven't been all this week. I've cited work commitments but really wanted to take it easy running wise. I can't tell my coach about pregnancy before parents so can't tell him for the next 3 weeks. I can sense lots of 'work commitments' coming up!

Pinkie29 · 14/06/2012 21:06

Re bras: I've already gone up to a D! There's a sizeable gape in my work shirts even with my new bra! queen defo get some fitted they feel so snug and secure and alot less painful on the stairs Smile

D30rvg · 14/06/2012 22:20

Queen we will have to keep tabs in case we are in the hospital at the same time. I was made aware about the children's centres when I made an appointment with midwife. Mine is 29th June. I'm assuming I will get more info then.

Bean cool is still a cool word to use although round here you are more likely to hear 'boss'!

Thinking of going bra shopping this weekend - m&s or mothercare?

angrytree · 14/06/2012 22:26

Hi folks, can I jump in too please? I haven't actually done a test yet, but I'm pretty certain of the result since my periods are very regular. Other than a bit of lightheadedness, no symptoms so far (with DC1, I had the usual tender boobs, and weirdly could.not.sleep for about two weeks before I even realised I was late). Just moved to a new area so don't really know any local mums yet, and haven't even registered with the GP (must get round to that!).

MrsM80 · 14/06/2012 22:38

Hi angrytree welcome and congratulations!

QueenOfTheDrama · 14/06/2012 22:49

Welcome angrytree congrats! Are you going to do a test or just go straight to the GP once you're registered?

D30 let us know how your midwife app goes - feel a bit confused about the whole process re children's centres/GP/hospital. My appointment isn't until 1st week of July which seems like ages away at the moment! When is your due date? By my LMP I will be due 18th Feb, but obviously know that can change at dating scan plus could have baby late/early. So would be a big coincidence if we ended up in hospital at the same time! Re bras, think I'm going to try mothercare as pinkie has recommended. pinkie my work shirts are getting tighter too!

egg & mrsm80 great idea re swimming as exercise during pregnancy. There's no pool at my gym either but there is a local one I could use. Swimming is like relaxing exercise isn't it! Just what we need I think! Smile
