Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

Babylann going to be tough for you with all the medical business? Poor thing.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 13/06/2012 09:37

Hi baby, my friend had a band for spd, it was more like a support bandage band. She found it very good. The ones I used were more an item of clothing than for any medical use. Good luck with midwife today. I hope she is understanding of your anxiety.

FlyingSubmarine · 13/06/2012 09:52

Hi everyone - still very bloated here!

On the bra front, I have read (on the Bravissimo site) it is safe to keep wearing underwires, so long as they fit properly, but I am no expert! Mine haven't expanded much yet, but I guess there is time (5 weeks today).

I am going to tell my boss this morning, because I want to be open about it with him, and make sure he has as long as possible to plan cover, etc, he will be sworn to secrecy though!

I called the docs yesterday and they said to call back when I'm 7-8 weeks to make a midwife appointment, I was slightly disappointed, as it seems like a long time to wait (must learn to be more patient).

BabylannShallFall · 13/06/2012 09:59

Thanks :) I just have to get on with it, needs must... Mum isn't having DD today so I have to take my hyperactive toddler to my appointment, maybe keeping her occupied will distract me from the nerves!

then I think I'll go online shopping for bump band when I get home.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 13/06/2012 10:04

I'm so bloated. Jeans feel uncomfortable. Think I will be spending the next few months in leggings!

QueenOfTheDrama · 13/06/2012 10:12

Hope your appointment goes well today babylann I'm sure if you explain your anxieties to the midwife she'll be able to help you.

flying I've been trying to call the docs all morning so far and it's constantly engaged Angry I get the feeling I'll be waiting a while for an appointment too as my docs is always busy, it usually takes over 2 weeks just to see a doctor, let alone a midwife.

QueenOfTheDrama · 13/06/2012 10:12

morecoffee me too! Jeans feel tight already Confused

Pinkie29 · 13/06/2012 10:23

Jeans are tight and boobs spilling out!! Going to try buy a sneaky maternity bra on lunch tomorrow!! Queen the cramps are scary! Mum says its not as bad 2nd time Hmm

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 13/06/2012 10:24

I've got no symptoms what so ever at the moment. I can't get worried because I'm always telling people not to worry! Envy

QueenOfTheDrama · 13/06/2012 11:15

I'm worried already about how big I'm going to be towards the end, I feel like I'm obviously bigger already!

Finally got through to doctors - they just gave me the number for the local clinic, said to call them to make my booking in appointment as its not done through the GP anymore?? Have tried calling that number - constantly engaged!! GRRRR!! Angry

eggandbean · 13/06/2012 11:24

Argh, sorry Queen, hope you manage to get through to the clinic soon!

Pickle, not everyone gets symptoms, I keep reading that. The way I am feeling, you should be grateful! I'm sure you'll get some at some point though, definitely try not to worry. I feel a bit pathetic but I've actually called in sick at work today - still felt awful when I got up, had something to eat, pottered about a bit but still felt really really sick so here I am back on the sofa!

I had read about eggs needing to be cooked well and properly so I took that to mean flip my fried eggs to cook the yoke and just make sure my scrambled is cooked well and sorta hard. Didn't know about this lion mark thing, is that on most eggs? I love egg (nothing to do with my name, egg is just a silly nickname from my schooldays!) and have been eating more the last few months as I was worried about protein levels with being vegetarian and running a lot. (obviously not running so much now...)

Off to search for bumpbands online :)

QueenOfTheDrama · 13/06/2012 11:39

Thanks egg Still can't get through at the moment so will have to just keep trying. If only I knew which bloody clinic they want me to go to I'd go down in person to sort it out!

I love eggs too but think I might wait until I've done a little bit of research before I make some lovely poached eggs on toast (mmm want some now!)

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 13/06/2012 11:55

I downloaded the top shop app, they have the bump bands in the maternity section! Am poised ready to buy, but think I may need to wait a while and see how much I'm gonna pile on first!
That was the worst bit about drs appt, being weighed, Sad but he was nice and made the excuses for me - well you have got all your clothes and shoes on and he actually rounded down!
Not like the evil nurse that weighed me before my EC, she marched me off down the corridor in my massive really heavy dressing gown and put that weight in, I was mortified! Guess i'm gonna get weighed a lot over coming months, best get used to the dismay!

morecoffeemorecoffee · 13/06/2012 12:24

I think the advice with eggs is they should have the lion mark (which most supermarket ones do) and be cooked through including yolk. I'm happy to have the odd slightly runny yolk occasionally though, but only if I've cooked it myself :)

BabylannShallFall · 13/06/2012 12:24

Hmm... not sure about the Topshop ones. I hate when things don't have proper UK sizes, instead "S/M" or "M/L". I know I'd need the larger one, but I don't know if that would be large enough. I'm size 16 with a muffin top already present from last baby (went from 14 - 22 in first pregnancy and lost the weight everywhere else, just not on stomach....)

When I've looked up what S/M/L etc equate to in UK sizes (as a general rule), it usually says size 16 is XL.

Anyone got any advice? :(

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 13/06/2012 12:34

I'm a 12 and I always get m but I'm
A 12 with a hoooooge muffin so more like a 14 around the middle. Top shop are small I find.

eggandbean · 13/06/2012 12:35

Babylann - I've just ordered a 3 pack from Newlook (£9.99) then ended up ordering a load more maternity stuff to bump the order up to £45 and get free delivery, I'm such a mug!! I did read somewhere when I was looking at various bumpbands that S/M = size 8 - 12 pre-pregnancy, and M/L = size 14 - ? (sorry can't remember what it went up to) - I've just tried googling it again and can't find where I read that, sorry. Isn't the idea that they 'grow' with you anyway, so I can't imagine with you being size 16 it would be any problem and they are supposed to grow to the equivalent of size 20 - 22.

BabylannShallFall · 13/06/2012 12:36

Hmm. Might be simpler for me to find an unbranded one or go on ebay and find one specifically for a 16.

I never shop in Topshop, makes me feel quite fat when I go in there Grin

BabylannShallFall · 13/06/2012 12:37

Ah thanks eggandbean! I'll look into it then. Turns out I can't afford til DP gets paid anyway :(

QueenOfTheDrama · 13/06/2012 12:39

OMG I'm size 12 now and the thought of going up to a size 20 or something is filling me with horror - I'm only 5ft 3" so I'm going to look gigantic! Sad

BabylannShallFall · 13/06/2012 12:44

I did get massive. By month 7 I'd already gained 3.5 stone and I grew even bigger. My bump was huge, they called me Octomum.

I could have been used in a campaign about the dangers of giving into your curry cravings while pregnant!

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 13/06/2012 13:03

My sister went from a 10 to a 22, then back down to a 10 within a few months. It was crazy!

Pinkie29 · 13/06/2012 13:13

I'm a 10 and 5ft, I don't feel big atm but feel my boobs rapidly increasing!! I've tried not to think about how big I'm going to get!

LittleMissSnowShine · 13/06/2012 13:18

morecoffee / Pinkie - ah yes, pregnancy leggings!! all my maternity stuff is packed away in a suitcase in the attic. Might be time to get it out soon, esp since most of it is quite summery since DS was an August baby so it won't be a lot of use to me in October/November time. On the brightside, all we have is a bit of bloat at the min since the baby is barely any bigger than a full stop at this stage so that should came down and we should get back into our regular clothes soon...until about week 14 and then it's cheerio jeans!!

WhosPickle - All I have is afternoon tiredness and my attention is zoning in and out. I was so tired after working yesterday morning that I put DS down for his nap and then went into my room intending to just sit down for a second. Fell asleep, out cold for an hour - DH called in on his way back from a meeting and found the front door lying wide open cos i'd forgotten to close it and then passed out. Preggers brain!!

Babylann - Topshop sizing is quite small, inc maternity stuff. I'm normally a 12, maybe a 14 across the chest but during last 6 weeks of pg with DS i really ballooned Blush hee! I found Matalan and New Look maternity sizes to be generous, H&M and Topshop to be on the small side. I also wish I'd lost a bit more weight, I was hoping to be back to a 10 before I got preg cos I know I'll end up huge by the end - even with healthy eating /exercise - so every dress size kind of counts. Ho hum. I'll hit the swimming pool next week!

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 13/06/2012 13:52

I got the bloat. I was out of my normal jeans by 6 weeks last time!! I wore a lot of leggings. Ds was march so my clothes should be ok, it's winter stuff we will need most.
