Are we thinking that DH could get a little stroppy if I try and demand that he comes home cos I feel sick and want to go to bed?

Good afternoon all! Popadopolis had her wee girl at 12.15am today 7lb 9oz, her name is Anya Olive Catriona and she sounds just lovely. They're both doing well and are managing to bf just fine, Popadopolis's husband is about fit to burst with pride! Oh, and they asked dh and I to be God-parents which is fab! Will post a birth announcement for her shortly, sends her thanks for all your thoughts and good wishes!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 20/02/2006 14:21

Hurra for Popadopolis, welcome to the world Anya Olive glad your all ok thanks for posting Twiga

Ok ladies that's the first of the week, now can we all pop by Saturday do you think????

Ixel good luck for tomorrow, tho I'm sure I'll get to post on here again later!

Flame that's fab of Boots, but Helen, that's not so fab of Boots......

I think it's your hormones not helping on the feeling bad re friend front Flame hopefully we can try to cheer you up tho? will try to think up some funnies for you!

Helen, boo re the tests but better to be safe than sorry....I guess we'd better get cracking then, any particular time you fancy a spot of labouring? I was thinking tomorrow am, about 3 or 4 ish, have baby out in time to pop dd in nursery, so I can get some kip, whaddya say?

Jas, good advice re the look of death on the school run, I shall practice when get dd from nursery tonight!

Well my cold is feeling a tad better now we've reached midday gone, but I have to say I appear to be craving olbas oil still...ahem.....or vicks.....erm, help!

Thell · 20/02/2006 14:24

Hurray!
Love to get good baby news .
Many congratulations to Pop - and Anya is a lovely name.

Another of my NCT group had her baby too, a girl called Harriet
I'm not liking that two of the six of us have had uneventful deliveries with minimal pain relief...statistically one or two of us will end up with a caesarean, and I don't want it to be me!!

No further movement here, but a good sleep after my weekend catering!
My stretch marks immediately became angry, red, lumpy and itchy - thought it was just inflammation, but now I've started getting tiny itchy spots on my hands and arms. Bit worrying. Will be seeing doc tomorrow.

Flame - - I came very close last night to saying to DH 'The least you can do is help get this baby out the same way you put it in!!!'
The poor bloke looked too tired to see the funny side, so I bit my tongue. Might try it out tonight though,...!

Helen! I'm disappointed in you. No baby at all ?

Helen38 · 20/02/2006 14:31

I am trying, trust me!!!

My dh more than willing to try and help get it out but it's not working so far.

thell that's just what my bump is like and soooooo itchy, only got spots on tummy tho, have been putting e45 on which helps, that's why the blood test today.

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2006 15:45

Thell - its taken sooo much restraint not to use the classic line of "You put it in there, you can get it out"

Wooohooo for Pops... they do come out eventually then!!

Been dozing on the sofa most of the afternoon... DD has been a star and not wrecked everything - although she did manage to do some spectacular monitor fiddling, and made the entire screen go blank (I had had her game set up on it to amuse her... apparantly it didn't work ).

Just had a very odd dream though - logged on here to find a post from Jas saying she'd decided to have a bath, and that she'd had 6 strong contractions really suddenly, and decided to try pushing, and was now holding a baby girl in her arms, waiting for a midwife!

Hope the blood tests went ok Helen.

Cried when DH called to see how I was ... told him I felt like poo, was tired and lonely. I think I'll just crawl into bed when he gets home - he can do bathtime and teatime and all other "times".

Helen - I some how missed your post earlier... you've got me all worried about the baby turning again now!! I'd convinced myself that no babies turn this late, so I was safe!!!!

For all the tiredness today, I have managed to keep the more positive view a lot more than I expected - yes I'm tired and aching, but I don't think I've thought "I don't want to be pregnant anymore"

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2006 16:03

I officially win "worst mother in the world"

3.55pm DD "Can I have dinner pwease?"

I forgot to do lunch. All the poor child has had is croissants and a packet of crisps

Thell · 20/02/2006 16:51

Flame!
You can't be that bad, you are raising a polite and assertive little girl!

Helen - turning??! I missed that too !! Aaargh!!

I'm not sure how far along my mum was when I flipped over, but she was watching Carrie at the cinema and jumped when the hand came out of the grave at the end - and over I went!
I am definitely going to do sedate things for the next week (39wks tomorrow).

I've added a couple more bump pics, out of boredom!
here they are

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2006 16:57

Felt even worse when she added after "Thankyou... my baby(belly) hurtin"

Awww, just looked over and she has curled up and fallen asleep on the chair!

Gotta be a decent mummy with no tv tomorrow....

Jasnem · 20/02/2006 19:58

bad mummy !
Ican only manage to be a good mummy every other day at the moment...my kids are eating alot of toast and pasta lately

Interesting dream, Flame - glad I'm not the only one to be dreaming about people I've never met!

Congrats popadopolis..take care.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 20/02/2006 20:12

Yuk, yuk, yuk, I feel like crap, had a 15min nap, before phone went this afternoon, just felt soo tired you know, and now I feel sick.....have just forced dinner down me (pasta) in attempt to feel better, but so far am not doing.....

Thell don't worry 6 of us last time in maternity group and no c-sections! Really feel for you and Helen with the itching {{{Hugs}}}

Jas, whaddya reckon to flames dream then, up for a quick delivery?

Flame, oopse re lunch, but sometimes these things happen, and you have a damn good excuse at the moment and dd did remind you when she actually got hungry, so not all bad right

So anyone feel like popping tonight then??

Jasnem · 20/02/2006 20:32

Ooooh, I'm having an amI aren't I moment. Definitely getting contractions that are more serious than before, and quite regular
Cross your fingers that they don't just die down again!

Thell - lovely pics. Am assuming that's your DH looking proud in the last one?

ixel · 20/02/2006 21:00

Jas, dont you dare before me

Flame... ds went to a party yesterday, had no nap, asked to go to sleep at 5.30pm "because my very tired", and woke 11.30pm screaming "my tummy making noises. My tummy hurts" because he'd eaten crap at the party and then had no tea Had to give him milk in bed for the first time in about a year!

No signs here... the section is inevitable! A few twinges in the lower belly ,and achy kidneys, but that doesn't signify anything, does it?

MrsDoolittle · 20/02/2006 21:07

Hi Ladies, a quick post to say that I am thinking of you. Ds was due today but he is now 9 days old. He's a completely different baby to his sister, I think she was alot more laid back. He's only really quiet when I'm holding him, I can't leave him down atall even in his crib at night he has to sleep snuggled up to me. I think he's colicky aswell as sometimes I just can't console him atall. I am trying to reassure myself by saying that most babies are like this.
Anyway...
Congratulations to all you with babies now.

Tabs · 20/02/2006 21:42

fingers crossed jas

good luck for section tomorrow ixel.

are you coming over to join us on postnatal mrsdoolittle?

Jasnem · 20/02/2006 22:03

Still here, still wondering.

Ixel - you might still start tonight. It's always possible. If not then hope you get seen nice and early tomorrow - no emergencies please - and get to meet your baby tomorrow. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Mrs D Your DS sounds like DD2 - it was a real shock for me after having a very easy time with DD! I found it hard, too, but she's grown into a very happy loving little girl now (But it did have an effect on the timing of no3 - 5years as opposed to 16 months)
It's only when you have your second that you realise just how different two children from the same parents can be!

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 20/02/2006 23:46

Mrs D - I know I keep going on, but I really do swear by the chiropractor for colic. DD was soooo unsettled, and turned into a different child after that.

I have decided that I'm due an "easy" baby this time... DD has always been a little whirlwind, so I have ordered a nice laid back one this time, or I'll be very very grey before I'm 26!!!

She was out cold for ages after I fed her , and then it got to tea time, and she wasn't hungry (understandably!!!), but has had 2 bottles since going to bed. She is a very bottley child since we stopped her dummy... I think half the time she fills up on milk. I'm not prepared to stop them until she's ready though - she's already had to give up dummies, weeing in nappies, and soon she'll have to share with a baby - I think a little bit of milk from a teat is a small thing to want!!!

Jas - hoping things are starting for you.

I seem to be resigned now to believing that that dream was right, and there will be no baby til March. I clearly just have the natural gestation period of an elephant!

Ixel - you'll probably be gone before I get back on, so good luck for tomorrow.

xxxxx

Frizbetheexpansionset · 21/02/2006 08:20

Ixel, hope all goes well today {{{Hugs}}}

Jas, have you had a baby yet??

Mrs D, re the sleeping in cot thing, have you tried the popping a hotwater bottle into bed 1st to warm it up, then removing it, and sticking little one in? works sometimes??

Flame, Thell, Helen how are you girls today?

I'm thankfully not feeling sick at the moment, hurrah! this is very good as have a huge pile of accounts to trawl thru, after feeling so crap yesterday I ignored it all and chilled on the sofa for some of the afternoon, when I should have been working.....gota get it out the way before bump arrives!

Got the shock of my life from dh last night although have to say he's being rather good at the mo tho, knocked 3 things off our list to do around the house on Sunday, and then last night, said once baby is born, he's going to do and stick to a cleaning rota and will do all the cooking on the weekends he's not working, as he wants to be a good role model for the kids especially bearing in mind he needs to learn to cook to do this! (although he can reheat a mean pizza!) not quite sure what's come over him?? but think I'm liking the change

Helen38 · 21/02/2006 08:26

Morning!

Sorry if have made people worry about baby turning, think is likely that he had been doing it all along but my mw was cr*p so didn't notice.

Had several big contraction in the night that woke me up as hurt but have died off, had a cry on dh just want it out the right way round.

Lets have some babies

Flamesparrow · 21/02/2006 09:04

Helen - I'd much rather know that there is still a slight chance of turning this late, than have the shock of finding out on Friday

Hopefully your big contractions in the night were getting things ready.

Frizbe - Hope your DH remembers his new plan after a week ... I recall having a cleaning rota once... for a week .

Had more weird dreams, but I seem to have forgotten them... just remember them being seriously odd!!! I remember waking DH telling him to go sort out DD because she'd been crying and calling for one of us for ages, and I'd only just the heartburn to settle... he came back to tell me she was out cold and not crying at all ... it had seemed sooooo real! Had a much better night's sleep though, with the exception of turning over too fast at one point and pulling a muscle (big yelling there), and I'm feeling vaguely human today... might even manage to stay awake for a while, and feed DD!!!

Ixel - hope all goes well.

How's everyone else doing?

Jasnem · 21/02/2006 09:22

Morning - the mean labour faries came and took my contractions in the night

Ixel - good luck for this morning, hope to hear from you soon.

Helen - my friends Dd turned from breach to the right wasy when she was in labour!

Frizbe - will he keep to his plan? Sounds lovely if he does!

I'm not expecting a good day today, Tired and moody, after a nice day yesterday, and no sleep last night. Going to go back to bed and sulk in a bit.
