There's no reason to stop a multivitamin (unless you can't, like me) I've not been able to take one in any of my pregnancies but can whilst bf. it just doesn't agree with me I become really constipated, sick and bad stomach cramps but I get the same with iron supplements. I eat a healthy varied diet anyway so quite happy without them.

lauraloo09 · 11/06/2012 12:30

I havent taken multivitamins for about a week just cos i ran out not had a chance to buy anymore, but will be buying some today and will continue to take them throughout pregnancy like i did before. i took the ones with the added omega 3 so need to start them again.

I made a list of stuff i need for new baby (got most stuff left over from DD) so really only need a wardrobe, chest of drawers, cotbed mattress, bedding and bottles, sterliser etc not including bedding as MIL is buy that I am looking in the region of £450 for everything...argos has a set of cotbed, mattress, wardrobe and cod for £379 so think i will get that and toys r us have a tommee tippee starter set for £69.99 (couldnt bf last time) need to start saving lol (can you tell its a slow day at work? lol) ;)

FriendofDorothy · 11/06/2012 12:54

I am still taking Vitamin D on it's own and baby aspirin as both were advised by my consultant. I am not taking a multivitamin as my diet is pretty good.

Think the folic acid is only essential for first three months anyway.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/06/2012 13:16

I'm also taking aspirin a vitamin d. Will stop folic acid at thirteen weeks as advised.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/06/2012 13:19

I really need the loo but I'm at work and there's only one toilet Blush

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 14:11

Just had my 16w check, my uterus is up by my belly button and the heartbeat sounds like boomchickaboomchicka!!! :o

giraffe213 · 11/06/2012 14:34

Hi all,

Been offline all weekend - hope everyone's ok and poorly people feeling better.

beccabubbles - a bump band is a wide tube of stretchy fabric that goes round your middle and is supposed to hold your trousers in place underneath it. For me, the trousers kept slipping out from underneath it, even when I tried a smaller size - maybe I should have bought more expensive ones or something.

CODwidow - I'm so reassured to hear what your midwife said about folic acid, thanks for posting that. It was making me feel really sick and bloated, I could hardly eat anything, so I stopped a bit early (bad I know but felt like I could eat a much healthier diet without it, including lots of natural sources of folic acid and marmite, fortified cereals etc) - anyway my midwife wasn't the least bit sympathetic, gave me a bottle of a different brand but basically the same thing and told me to keep taking it throughout the pregnancy as it's good for red blood cell development as well as the spinal thing at the start. After about three days of taking the new one I came to the conclusion that it was better to not take it and be able to have a naturally healthy diet, but I'm glad to hear someone's midwife somewhere agrees with me!

SpottyTeacakes · 11/06/2012 16:30

So jealous Pidjin!

COD my dd sobbed for twenty minutes when I dropped her at my mums apparently it's heartbreaking! She's been really clingy to me and dp recently not sure why.

kateand2boys · 11/06/2012 16:46

I watched that episode of OBEM in floods of tears, similar to ds2's birth although I did manage push him out and he didn't need special care, scary enough though. I agree they were really well informed, much better than I was Sad

I didn't take a supplement all the way through with the last 2, but am still plugging away this time. I might get to week 14 and have a trial without, see if I feel any better.

Still feel ill, off to the GP tomorrow, see if they can suggest something that will unblock my ears and sinuses. Still feel like I'm underwater.

I trawled the internet looking for maternity clothes yesterday. I found a grand total of ........ 4 items!!!! I didn't like anything else. So I guess I'll be wearing those four items in rotation.

And the bloody washing machine has broken Angry Does it not know I am mother to 2 boys who attract dirt?!?

Cookiesandcream06 · 11/06/2012 16:48

purple that's amazing I'm so jealous. I have mine next week I am so excited. You must have a good little bump if it's all the way up there ?! (or do you have amazing tummy muscles?!)

I stopped taking my folic acid at 13 wks last time but I'm continuing with my preg vits this time. Although I do suffer from being bunged up, I ended up on iron tablets a couple of times last pg, so taking precautions this time, and will get the VitD that way too.

I am normally very active and I don't think DP is taking this very well, I literally have made myself a couple of times but I've genuinely never had such a low sex drive. He is holding out hope for the 'horny stage' Blush

HoneyMum21 · 11/06/2012 17:33

i'm still feeling sorry for myself. this headache still won't shift so i'm seeing the doc tomorrow to make sure all is ok. i'm sure it probably is but i'm a worrier! just been listening to bump on a doppler to make sure he's ok. his heartbeat sounds so fast - but that's normal, right?

have i miscalculated my 16 week midwife appointment? i don't have mine for 2 more weeks but people seem to be having them sooner? can you go before 16 weeks?
also, have date for 20 week scan- i'll be 20+3 (according to the measurements at last scan - but i'm still not sure that they aren't a couple of days out and bump is just taking after his dad and is going to be little!). do you reckon it's worth me trying to make it the week before, partly cos i'm impatient and partly cos i'm worried that if they have got the dates slightly wrong he'll be too big for them to do the tests. what do you reckon?

sorry, long, rambly post- been in bed/on the sofa for 3 and a half days and have cabin fever!

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 17:34

No point being jealous, you'll catch me up soon enough!

I just look like I've eaten too many pies at the moment! A little Envy of those who actually look pg! (although it won't be long until we're waddling and fed up with being too fat to tie our shoes) :o

CODwidow · 11/06/2012 17:56

honey my 16 wk appt isn't until 26th so yours is probably fine and your 20wk one can be done between 19-22 weeks. Ive requested mine to be at 19weeks just so it lands the week before summer hols so childcare is easier.

This indigestion is a total nightmare, I'm struggling to eat after 3pm and it makes me feel so sick and uncomfortable. I've never suffered with indigestion before but think I may need to bulk buy gaviscon Sad

Clarella · 11/06/2012 18:09

I'll be 17 weeks at the 16 week appt next week, ironically chosen to fit with ppa time though I won't be there now. I'm carrying on taking pregnacare simply cos it is the only one I can find with iodine in it. Though sometimes I forget now oops, forgot about the vit d bit! Will try harder!

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 18:24

The mw rang me last Friday to book me for today, I'm 15+3 with an EDD of 30/11 (if you ignore the fact that my cycle is irregular) :)

Cookiesandcream06 · 11/06/2012 19:04

My surgery does the check at 15 weeks, not 16 weeks, i'm sure any time around then is fine Smile

Does everyone have the dates for their 20 week scan now? It had changed at my hospital, you had to walk over and book it there and then?!

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 19:17

Same, cookies, are you RBH?? I'm friday 13th

SpottyTeacakes · 11/06/2012 19:46

How much vitamin d are we meant to take?

kateand2boys · 11/06/2012 20:20

My next check is supposed to be at 15 weeks, but I'm on holiday then, so it's the week after.

I think the window for the anomaly scan is bigger than with the nuchal scan, I think up to 22 weeks. Don't know when mine will be as I still haven't had an NHS scan yet. I think the midwife books it at the next appointment, I don't really know.

Purple it must be very exciting to feel your baby so far up. I'm still not sure that I can feel mine.

Honey sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. Hope it goes OK tomorrow.

COD gaviscon was my constant companion when I was having ds2. Still need it now sometimes.

spotty 10 micrograms of vit D

CODwidow · 11/06/2012 20:36

The scan department are going to ring me as they didn't have appt showing when I went for my 12 week. But it should be about 18/7

brooke89 · 11/06/2012 20:58

I have my next midwife appointment next week - ill only be 14 week then... Isn't that too early?

Another attempt at the scan tomorrow for nuchal measurements, hope baby cooperates this time!

mwahmwah · 11/06/2012 21:05

Codwidow, if ur in uk get ur gaviscon on prescription. I went through a huge bottle every 3 days with both my last pregnancies so I'd have been remortgaging if I was buying the stuff!

Bellaboo123 · 11/06/2012 21:19

Hi everyone love chatting up with the thread it moves so fast!
Had a growth spurt today...actually went to work with undone trousers...classy! Have had a maternity shopping spree today as I'm getting stuck with options.
Is anyone doing pelvic floor exercises???
My 16wk is booked in for 29th June and 20 wk scan 27th time seems to be moving quicker now!
Hope everyone is starting to feel a bit better x

CODwidow · 11/06/2012 21:47

mwah Didn't actually think of that, I will make an appt for GP soon as have a feeling I will be using a lot.
It's my birthday Thursday so hoping to get a few bits of clothes then as I'm sure I'm going to wake up one day and have nothing that fits. I thought my maxi dresses would see me through til sept but the great British summertime has spoiled that!

SpottyTeacakes · 12/06/2012 07:23

I haven't even met my community midwife yet! Think I've made an appointment for when I'll be 13+4, will that be too early hear the heartbeat?

COD is your birthday this Thursday? Are you going anything nice?

I never to my pelvic floor exercises, in rubbish, should do really after previous forceps delivery but my doctor said I have good muscle tone still Grin the little bit of wee that came out whilst I was in the trampoline would suggest otherwise
