Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 07/06/2012 18:18

Haha! It's different for everyone but with me I was 14 weeks before I felt better then had the odd day of feeling bad. Roll in 14 weeks!

MyDaydream · 07/06/2012 19:24

I've been wearing dresses with leggings at the minute and probably will all way through. I have some pieces from my last pregnancy when I planned far too ahead but I think I can get through with only a few more additions later in the summer.
I've been finishing the day with a bloated bump but it starts off a lot smaller. Asked DP if he thought I was bigger but he doesn't think so.

Clarella · 07/06/2012 19:47

I think my sisters problem was the nct classes in the centre of York had all older mums, who she didn't feel she had much in common with. I still think she made friends with them though. she met more younger mums when she went to umpteen billion baby classes eg singing etc - but that was only her experience 7 years ago, and I don't want to put anyone off nct (though I've been told some stories!) I've joined, mainly as DH wants to after all his mates have and told him that you ignore most of it but make new pals (!!)

What about a preggo yoga class or similar honey? Where abouts are you moving to? There are coffee mornings at the Newcastle pregnancy centre and seems to be a big breast feeding group too from what I can work out. Not done much hunting myself yet though!

Clarella · 07/06/2012 19:49

Yeah they lie about the 12 week thing to make sure you get through it! I've been at my worst at 13 -15 weeks!

Clarella · 07/06/2012 19:52

Ooo Christmas cards can be baby hand print reindeer with a red nose! (probably scanned and reprinted so the wee thing doesn't get too painted!)

Clarella · 07/06/2012 19:56

Oops I think I've got becca and honey's posts confused sorry preggo brain on a phone about to run.out of battery.

Hope you feel better soon spotty xx

JoJoB77 · 07/06/2012 20:14

I'm still in normal clothes but won't be long before i have to break out the maternity ones i think.

WeeJo the dress is a knee length dress. black at top & grey chiffon at bottom, from ASOS. Ive also won some jeans now too ...

HoneyMum21 · 07/06/2012 20:25

Thanks Clarella - we're moving up to Morpeth to be closer to my family so we aren't going too far - Newcastle will still be easily doable. Where is the pregnancy centre?

PurplePidjin · 07/06/2012 21:38

For the younger posters here, i did some temping in a SureStart centre recently and they have groups specifically for under 25s (alongside EAL support, dad's group, breast feeding support etc) so definitely worth a shot.

I work with people, and have a niece with, autism so am used to getting odd looks in public. I suggest you simply stare anyone who asks if you're keeping it in the eye until they look away in embarassment and realise what a scummy shitty fucker they are for being so offensive

whatmess · 07/06/2012 21:57

Hi all, I haven't posted for a while as I've been a bit unwell despite the anti-sickness pills. Still struggling a bit with headaches and nausea although I am throwing up much less than before.

I had my scan today. Baby is fine and measured in at 12+5, so a few days bigger than I thought. EDD is now 15th of Dec. It was wonderful and such a relief. I had my little crystal lucky cat in my hand (DH bought her in memory of the baby we lost). We only found out about our loss at the 12wk scan, so today was a bit difficult to start with. I was sat in the same chair waiting to go in and just wanted to run for the nearest exit. DH commented on how diff things are when it's good news. Last time we were more or less ushered out asap, while today we went back to the waiting room and then saw a host of other medical professionals. TBH, I wouldn't have wanted to sit surrounded by expectant mothers, but it did make me think that perhaps they should have a room were you could go and have a cup of tea and maybe speak to a professional if you want to. I guess it all comes down to funding.

Anyway, before I get onto one of my NHS soap boxes, the baby was beautiful, we got 6 great pics mainly face on as he/she refused to turn despite numerous coughs and hip shaking, and DH and I are very very pleased.

CODwidow · 07/06/2012 22:02

So glad everything went well for scans today Grin not heard from ivanapoo yet sure we were scan buddies.
Bought some tiny white vests today seems a little more real now!

Bellaboo123 · 07/06/2012 22:06

Woooo chatty today just been catching up!

I'm struggling with clothes too as I usually wear tailored things. Im now in maxi dresses and blazers for work although I was bloody freezing today and may have to rethink this. Have been looking at maternity things got a pair of mat chinos in new look for 12...bargain!
I haven't been sick although felt v sick turns out my mum was the same...is there a pattern emerging???
Ive just found a skin tag OMG I've obviously google it and apparently it's common in pregnant women oh the joys!
Can't believe some people's comments about having kids in 20s if I was in a position to then I'd have. I'll be 33 when I give birth - probably one of the last of my friends which has left me out at times.
I've got a confession I bought a Moses basket on eBay today...could resist 25 for a 7m old mamas and papas one that cost 150 it's immaculate! Feels quite soon but why not start getting ready!
Hello newbies and hi to everyone else hope you all start feeling better soon.
Sorry for the waffle!!! Smile

ivanapoo · 07/06/2012 22:42

Hi I'm a bit late reporting in as I've been down the pub all night drinking apple juice scan today showed all is well. Glad my scan twin COD was the same! And whatmess (and anyone else I may have missed!).

Baby was upside down hiding for ages and they couldn't get a decent measurement so was in the scan room for a while but they got there in the end.I'm 13 weeks exactly, due date 13/12/12.

blackcurrants · 08/06/2012 00:56

I cant believe peole have been so rude either! I would have absolutely had a baby earlier than I did, if dh and I had lived in the same country! I'll be 33 in Dec, and I had so much more energy 10 years ago - I'm pretty jealous of younger mums!

SeymoreButts · 08/06/2012 01:37

Congratulations to all those who've had scans. ivanapoo mine was the same, upside down for ages. The sonographer had to do some fairly hard pushing to shift the baby round. Ouch.

I've just been told DD's best friend at school has slapped cheek, they share food etc. To my knowledge DD has never had the virus, I think I might have had it though. I called the GP and they want me to go in this afternoon. I have to pay $90 per visit now and I paid $150 to the GP on Tuesday just to get all the hospital forms filled in. It makes me all misty eyed about the lovely NHS!!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/06/2012 06:36

So pleased at all the s an news Smile I'm not too worried about EDD as I'll be induced at least a week early anyway so no Christmas baby for me!

Craving satsumas at the moment they are so yummy and juicy mmmmm. Also feeling a lot better after going to bed at seven Blush tiredness definitely makes it worse!

Hope everyone has a good day the wind here is awful

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 07:55

We're on a severe weather warning for it down here, Spotty!

I'm off to practice on my mate's 11mo today, could be interesting although I'm pretty determined to get to the park and give my mate some peace for half an hour! Her P is forces so she's nearly a lone parent (6 days a week when he's not away) and has, in the last few days, finally admitted she might have had PND. I haven't had the PN variety but recognise the signs from experience so have been keeping my mouth shut and eyes open iyswim - now she's realised, she's finally open to asking for a bit of moral support bloody strong independent types grr Wink

JoJoB77 · 08/06/2012 08:42

Morning all!

Good on you Pidgeon helping out your friend, i hope the break you give her today makes all the difference to how she has been feeling. Hope you enjoy playing with the little one too Smile

Well i have an unexpected child free day Grin. I usually spend the day at MIL's with DD on a friday but DH needs the car as his van is out of order. Soooo he's dropped DD off to MIL on his way to work & now i dont know what to do with myself!

(must resist the urge of the eBay app....)

Hope you have good days all!

JoJoB77 · 08/06/2012 08:43

Sorry, meant to say Pidjin Smile

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 09:16

JoJo, most people misdpell it, I'm not offended :o

I did soft play with hlthem the other day, too! I'm not really needed, she has excellent family support, but she's been a good mate for a long time and i hope our dc can be the same - i have another very good friend I've known since we were months old (mums are friends) and that has been invaluable to me; she'll likely be god mother to Pidjchick :)

WeeJo08 · 08/06/2012 10:30

Hi everyone,

Scan's this afternoon at 14:40. Pretty nervous. Keep telling myself that we had a scan 2.5 weeks ago and saw dancing arms and legs and heartbeat and that hopefully things will be okay, but I'm not sure if that really makes any difference to odds of everything being okay. Plus I am worried about all the measurements, tests, etc. Sorry for being a bit of a moan.

Happy for everyone who has had good scans and who is feeling better though, hopefully your luck will rub off!

Jo x

knottyhair · 08/06/2012 10:45

Blimey, this thread's so busy, it's hard to keep up! Good luck for today WeeJo Smile.

JoJoB77 · 08/06/2012 10:51

blackcurrants · 08/06/2012 11:15

Ooh yes good luck. My scan is on thursday- anyone else? Lovely bit is DH can come as his school breaks up tomorrow, he couldnt get to the 12 week one last time so it is very exciting.

beccabubbless · 08/06/2012 11:35

spotty at least it will be cold and everyone will think that your just keeping warm in the trackies!

weejo thanks, yeah, i was unsure if your meant to buy bigger to accomodate the bump or the same size and they do the calculations! aha.

kate thanks hun, im just going to be really up myself and assume il be a great mum, its the only way people might believe me!

honeymum my MW was a bitch during my booking as well, im not entirely sure if it will get any better.. maybe give it another go and see if she perks up.. maybe she was having a bad day or maybe she is just a bitch
eurgh, dont say that.. im counting down the days to my 12 weeks so i get my prego glow and feeling amazing xD

clarella christmas cards sound amazing!! but my bump is due on the 29th :(

whatmess is it really weird to see the baby move when you cant feel it?! soso exctied for my scan!

blackcurrants people are SO rude about me being a young mum, but they dont know that im actually more responsible than some 30 year olds i know!! very annoying, but il just have to prove them wrong and be an amazing mum hopefully!

weejo GOOD LUCK! let us know!
