Clarella · 04/06/2012 08:29

Hi happy camel! Congrats on pregnancy and missing a whole month!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2012 08:30

Mmmm sugar puffs! I want cinnamon pop tarts Blush stupid diabetes

Clarella · 04/06/2012 08:41

Oo well relaxin also affects nipples in pregnancy, allowing growth and 'change'. (plus cardiovascular system hence tiredness)

Mummycox · 04/06/2012 09:51

Welcome happy camel! Oh to fast forward a month Wink

Clarella you sound like you're having a shocking few days. Have you tried spicy foods? Or sultana bran?

Stretching at a peak at 14 weeks. Bloody agony standing up at times, cats wanting affection isn't helping either. And why is it that people laugh when I say I'm 14 weeks... I am looking rather pregnant though.

Hoping that this shocking jubilee weather does one so we can go out for lunch.

Now, Croissant or porridge for breakfast?

Clarella · 04/06/2012 10:11

Lol thanks mummy, I'm really alright, surprised at sudden utter lethargy and nipple issues! I think others are much worse, and no idea how you cope with other children while like this hats of to you mummies x

Chloe55 · 04/06/2012 10:30

Welcome camel all pregnancies are different and im hoping everything that happens after giving birth is different too so maybe you will bypass postnatal depression this time.

Well, not sure what to think of the dh situation really. He had 3/4 bottle wine with tea and watching apprentice last night-I have checked the bottle and there is still some in, he would normally have polished off 2, but I felt really Sad that the abstaining from alcohol lasted all of a week. I told him I was expecting him to be on the wagon a few months not a few days and he said that he will be staying sober at all social events for the time being but was it an issue for him to have the odd glass of wine in his own home. I'm guessing not? Confused

He went to play golf at 7am this morning and I came down to flowers and a note saying how proud he was of me and that he appreciates I'm taking one for the team (this wasn't a grovel as we had the drinking comments just before he left for golf) I did have a horrible dream I left him though because he decided to drink today at my bros BBQ and it showed total lack of respect for me. I was so unbelievably angry in my dream and woke up feeling proper shit.

ivanapoo · 04/06/2012 10:35

Does anyone ever wake up and freak out at their own body?

This morning my nipples were like a stack of £2 coins balancing on an upturned saucer... They're bloody huge! I had to run to the bathroom mirror to have a reflective look. Argh! What am I going to be like when I have a massive bump?!

Also every time anyone posts about any food stuff on here it makes me want it... Mmm sugar puffs and pop tarts (must stop eating for two)

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/06/2012 10:37

mummy well when I was pg with DD I think I ate two croissants nearly every day .. Hense the zillion stone weight gain. But soo good!

ivanapoo · 04/06/2012 10:40

Chloe hope you're ok, sounds like today will be a bit of a test.

I guess 3/4 of a bottle isn't LOADS but it's more than a glass too... Time will tell I guess. At least he's drinking openly in front of you and not trying to hide it...?

ivanapoo · 04/06/2012 10:44

chloe just to add could you ask him what he feels is a reasonable amount to drink per week at home and then he can stick to that maybe? (assuming he says something like a bottle of wine) would you be happy with that?

Clarella · 04/06/2012 11:00

Stop. Talking. About. Croissants. Id just balanced my halo with prunes and yoghurt but have to go to sainsburies...

Chloe I don't know much about it other than DHs own responses to when he has had too much social drinking in the past - he's tended to need to enjoy a bit of wine during the week and have alcohol free beers - I almost wonder if going cold turkey is too much too soon? He also claims to sometimes count his units each week and tries to 'balance it out..... apparently. some say wine is supposed to be shared and savoured and definately stopping at 3/4 is to be admired. I think its natural to be very anxious about it and any drinking is going to worry you. The dreams show how much its worrying you. It's hard but maybe play the psychological game, meet him half way, and praise him for his restraint with the wine, how much it makes you feel hopeful and explain that you do really fear the social times and escalation of any drinking? Maybe he'll cope better without drinking out if he can have a little at home? My mothers way if not getting too tipsy ( she can get tipsy on a thimbleful and get very giddy) at my wedding was to do it the night before, sober as a judge on the day. Others may have better advice though.

Chloe55 · 04/06/2012 12:31

Thanks for your advice ladies. Clarella that's kinda what I'm thinking, was nervous about him not drinking for a few months then having a massive blow out and ruining it all. The fact he said he is taking a break from drinking socially is a big step (he is known as the biggest drinker of our friends I'm sure) so I know I have to admire this. I don't actually have any issues with him having a few, I would miss it if he can't, I am just concerned - my uncle was an alcoholic (he would make a big tit of himself at public occasions), I'm not sure how much he drank at home, his life unfortunately ended in suicide - now I'm not saying I think dh is depressed but I remember no one wanting my uncle to come to social events and I think dh was heading down that road. I don't know, I'm just scared of the unknown I guess.

PrunellaDeVille · 04/06/2012 12:48

gosh, really shocked at my own body today. Been going through my wardrobe to find stuff suitable to take on holiday next week assuming i'll be continuing to grow but i tried on a particularly clingy old wool dress and saw everything with a new clarity. So odd and exciting that i took a pic with the laptop as it was in the room Blush. uploaded the photo to my profile as i figured you guys are the only ones who'll understand.
There's a whole new level of reality kicking in, i really am growing a baby! Shock
think i might have to have yet another little cry.
Anyone else suddenly an entirely new shape?

Chloe55 · 04/06/2012 13:44

Wow prunella you look gorgeous!! Thought my bump was big! Grin

FriendofDorothy · 04/06/2012 13:51

Bloody hell. No-one would ever be able to tell I was pregnant. No sign of anything other than fat here :(

SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2012 14:59

Wow Prunella! I had to come onto my laptop so I could look. That's similar to the bump I had with dd at 5 months! Lovely dress btw Wink

PrunellaDeVille · 04/06/2012 15:14

Aw thanks chaps.
It does seem to be the right shape but i swear it's mostly cheese, prunes and ginger beer, of which my diet largely consists currently (not all together), but it was before lunch and after numerous morning toilet stops Blush.

itsMYNutella · 04/06/2012 15:49

I keep reading how during pregnancy you will want to feed your body and baby with good nutritious food... all I want are chinese fried noodles of things with cheese on... or things with chocolate sauce on.

And am very jealous Prunella you look lovely, I've just put on weight around my middle, and I feel it, like uncomfortable period bloating. Sorry, tmi :)

But other than a bit fatter I'm still looking much the same :) slowly starting to tell close friends because avoiding all the alcohol (BBQs, birthdays, dinners out etc) was becoming a bit obvious!

itsMYNutella · 04/06/2012 15:50

Oh and hello happycamel !!

Can't believe how many new babies there will be in December!
:o

MyDaydream · 04/06/2012 18:06

Prunella you look amazing.
Nutella My midwife mentioned that she has lots of babies due in December on her case load this year. I keep thinking I'm not going to get into the labour ward because there'll be a queue!
Chloe I'd keep thanking him when he's stayed sober/not gone OTT, and not going on too much about going OTT. I was a bad drinker a few years ago, generally making a massive fool out of myself. I just needed support to stop myself and make me realise what my behaviour was like. I think you both need to decide if stopping for x months is the solution, or cutting down massively but still enjoying a few glasses when he fancies one. I tried both, but not drinking for a month or two just meant after that time I went back to my own ways. It was just being sensible and stopping before I was wasted that worked for me. Fingers crossed you find the solution that works for you.

Told MIL yesterday and she's VERY excited, she's been desperate for grandchildren for years. I'm now worried she's going to spend too much money on baby when she really doesn't have it spare. I need to get DP to talk to her before the scan because I know as soon as that happens she'll be off. So far she's buying her own car seat, pretty expensive from birth travel cot and similarly expensive baby bouncer, then the crib for our house and lots of clothes and toys. I love her but I can see being a right pain in the arse. She's also obviously talking about baby staying over really young, but I just can't see baby staying out for the first year, we're really boring and never go out anyway!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2012 19:33

I can feel my uterus just above my pelvic bone and I can't help but keep prodding it Blush roll on scan two weeks tomorrow.....

Chloe55 · 04/06/2012 20:56

It was a sober affair for us both today Smile now settling down to watch some tv together. I told him how much I appreciated the sober support today.

giraffe213 · 04/06/2012 21:34

prunella I'm impressed! I was feeling pleased with my little bump but it's only noticeable to people who saw me before it grew.

Clarella · 04/06/2012 23:41

Glad you had a good day Chloe, I think how daydream put it is right - praise the positives, how it makes you feel, make light of any slipups. Perfection can be a horribly unobtainable pressure and can lead to this weird reaction in human behaviour whereby a small slip up leads to giving up on trying to obtain the ideal of perfection as it seems so devastatingly out of control/reach. He's got to gain confidence in his own ability to manage himself which you can help with - it may be hard for a while for you to have confidence in him, which will be tough but stick with it girl!

Wow prunella, get you! Pregnant mummy model material!

I have a considerable bump following 2 days of constipation (tmi) and 3 rounds at an afternoon tea party which finished half an hour ago. found a fifties style dress in a charity shop (actually an h&m dress but looks great!) with the elasticated ruching round the waist and a flared skirt but the angle of my stomach makes it shoot out in front of me looking about 6 months (which was fun!) The slight curve begins right at my bra and is most uncomfortable there. (especially after a marathon cake fest) *groan. Prune diet tomorrow.

And as I like to moan about IT'S ALL ON MY BLOODY HIPS! Is that usual?! Feels like it defeats the object. I kinda needed to put it on so as long as it stops now....

PrunellaDeVille · 05/06/2012 08:00

Thanks Clarella Blush. I thought the size of my bump wouldn't be too far different to others on here, I'm really surprised by all your responses - if i hadn't already seen there's only one in there i'd be starting to get worried. I've got a bit of a sway back so that could be affecting the appearance of my bump and also it's only in this dress that it looks so pronounced - most of the time i just look like i've gained some girth around my tummy and arse.

would love to see others bumps???
