Sorry on a phone - and there's more general info here on tests etc:

In my extensive and naughty googling I've found that the biggest risk of infection is from your own children, then a little less for child care workers and teachers. It is everywhere in society, but at 35 I've not caught it as not immune! 60% adults immune, most have no symptoms. If you're not immune and caught it there's a 25% chance baby gets it, resulting in fetal hydrops, which is,treatable but will need weekly scans to monitor. 1 in 10 or 1 in 6 chance of mc before 20 weeks if baby caught it.
Based on that he should be testing you at least for immunity but its a long wait - if in the clear for infection they'll test again in a month in case its brewed ( as happened at school!) My docs not letting me near teaching kids till after 20 weeks, but I'm going to work towards working at home on paperwork when thyroid and my head more settled.
seymore sorry if I worried you I get so down about the 5 weeks my tsh went from 5 to 11 but no idea of my t4 (they just wouldn't do) - your t4 is in range (9 to 21 I think) but not sure for pregnancy - its the tsh that's a better indication, best below 2.5 or 2. I just get low cos fought so so hard to avoid this and still couldn't.
Really really need mumsnet advice:
Not sure what to do about some training on Friday at work, no kids - doc said risk same as sitting in a docs surgery so was ok if I was ok, friends and family and deputy head not too sure, mum going nuts about it, I worry missing out on such an important thing long term, also trying to show willing, head quite keen, don't want to piss her off but don't want to risk my babys health..... thing is I go swimming etc but I do worry about being near staff who are around kids who have it etc. Had planned to sit away from everyone.... argh!
