morning everyone

some hospitals are very slow in doing dating scans, i was told with the liverpool women's i might not get one until i'm 14 weeks but i need one before then to check the nuchal fold (as it must be done before 14 weeks). they might not think it's neceserey as i'm only 21 but i have a child with a chromosone deletion and it all came as a huge shock to me after she was born (also we almost lost her as we didn't know anything was wrong with her). so this time i want them to check the nuchal fold, have a very detailed 20 week scan and go in for the triple test although i couldn't go through with an amnio if something was detected but i know they'd look much more closely to the baby once he or she arrives. we don't carry the chromosone deletion but when i take dd to a special needs group where i meet up with other mums there are lots of mums around my age with children with down's syndrome and cerebal palasey so i don't think age does always come into it.

Bella23 · 17/02/2006 10:36

YE HA - got my scan date through the post
6th March

Coriander73 · 17/02/2006 10:37

KK..you are very brave going to the concert!!! I had tickets (booked before I knew about the pg) to see Madonna two years ago 3 weeks before DD was due. Obviously I didn't go (DH said there was no way) & tbh by that stage of the pg I was so hot & bothered that the mere thought made me feel quite ill! I was gutted though as I was desperate to go. Guess what? I booked tickets to see Robbie at Wembley...the day I'm due this time round!!!! What is it with me & concerts??!!!

benjaminsmum · 17/02/2006 12:50

Homemama - I hope you are feeling better and having a rest in hospital.

Bella - Glad your scan date came through.

I am nearly twelve weeks but beginning to panic as not feeling sick anymore. Sounds stupid but now so worried something is wrong. Can't win really. Scan next Wednesday so will find out then. Althjough still weeing lots!

benjaminsmum · 17/02/2006 12:51

Ialso had tickets for Robbie last time but was six months pregnant and permantly weeing and scared of large crowd banging the bump so my brother went instead.

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 13:12

i got seating. it does say it's non smoking in the men arena but loads of people smoke, if anyone dares tries to light a cigerette by me they'll have a piece of my mind. i'm a bit worried about the whole toilet thing, it's good you can still hear them whilst you have a wee but i'd much rather be watching the whole thing then nipping out every 5 minutes. i might just try to take sips of water whilst i'm there so that i don't have to wee as often.

Coriander73 · 17/02/2006 13:24

Bejaminsmum...don't worry! Your coming up to the time when they say the sickness should, in theory, ease off. That's what I'm hoping for anyhow. I'm 10 weeks now & praying like mad that come the 12th week all sickness will be a long distant memory!!!!!

Woodelf · 17/02/2006 15:16

Hi all, lots of hugs to homemama - i can't believe how hard it is to get the right medical attention!

Not posted for a few days as managed to acquire a chest infection with a stonking headache which meant that even moving my eyeballs hurt! A seriously weird sensation. So felt v sorry for self until I read what others are going through!

Got scared as don't want to take anything for this bloody thing esp antibiotics but v nervous about effect on beanie if it doesn't ease off soon. Has meant eating reduced and I have already lost 3lb in the last 2 days...

Awaiting a scan next week (10w) to see if beanie ok.

HellKat · 17/02/2006 15:25

Well done on getting the scan date through Bella!
Ben- Wow you're far ahead! I think (not for sure thoguh) sickness & tiredness is meant to ease by 12 wks. Tiredness is slowly lifting here thank god. Can't wait for 12 wks.

How's everyone else?

compo · 17/02/2006 15:36

Woodelf - sorry to hear you've been so ill. I've taken paracetemol for a headache today which I hope is okay!
Bella - you're scan date is the same as mine!! Roll on the next fortnight!

radster · 17/02/2006 17:26

Rads- Hunny {{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}} I'm so, so very sorry. I know exactly what that's like, I've been there (too many times). Take it easy pet and try to rest up. Have a large glass of something and get yourself pampered.
Love & hugs to you & your family xxxxxxxxxxx

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 18:49

radster {{{{{hugs}}}}} i'm so sorry. take it easy for now. wishing you all the best for the future.

compo - paracetamol is safe. i wouldn't touch it whilst pg with dd but this time i couldn't cope with the stomach pains and was given cocodamol which is codein and paracetamol.

woodelf - i too avoid antibiotics. i try to just drink loads and loads of water whenever i'm ill and if needed take paracetamol and if that isn't helping cocodamol.

i have definetely got a much more sticky out belly, even dp noticed. my weight hasn't changed though and even though my boobs hurt they've still not grown.

cupcakes · 17/02/2006 19:54

radster - really sorry to hear that.

ben - I know how you feel. I am at the start of week 11 and no longer feel sick. I didn't think I'd miss the feeling but now I'm a bit worried (probably and hopefully with no reason) as I felt sick up to week 13 before. Scan on the 28th.

cupcakes · 17/02/2006 19:55

I suppose technically I'm at the start of week 12, not 11. I'm 11 weeks +1.

mabel1973 · 17/02/2006 22:06

radster - really sorry to hear what's happened - take care of yourself.x

hope everyone is feeling ok?
I finally gave in and got my antibiotics yesterday am fed up with being deaf & stabbing pain in my ear. Are antibiotics bad for the baby? does anyone know? I have got some probiotics powder which I got for DS when he was on them, so maybe I'll use some of that to sort out any ill effects on my stomach.
Not had the best day - found out i had five hundred quid missing from my account , tracked it down to the car insurance who hadn't informed me they were taking it, so had massive argument with them.
Shopping trip for jeans was a waste of time, all of the ones I tried were too short and the ones who do the longer elngth didn't have any in stock, so might do what HK did and get some on ebay - it's prob less hassle!
Good luck to everyone who has scans coming up mine seems like ages ago already and it was only last week!

mabel1973 · 18/02/2006 08:43

Is anyone else suffering with sciatica already?
I didn't get it with DS till 7 or 8 months, but am in quite a bit of pain already.

HellKat · 18/02/2006 08:48

Morning all.
mabel- yep and my spd's kicking in too! Luckily I've got my appt through with my consultant soon so hopefully I'll get it sorted.
It's not all the time but when i get those twinges they're mighty painful.
Sorry you did'nt have much luck hun. Deffo try Ebay and remember not just maternity. Check out jeans a size or 2 bigger.

benjaminsmum · 18/02/2006 09:37

Radster - I am so sorry it is undescribable. Good luck for next time.

I have just been sick. YEAH! I can't believe how happy I feel at throwing up but pregnancy makes you weird I guess.

Twelve weeks tommorrow! Scan on Wednesday then hopefully I can begin to relax a bit more. But I guess I will worry until I can feel it move all the time which with ds wasn't until nineteen weeks.

kreamkrackers · 18/02/2006 09:41

you should feel baby move earlier this time. i felt dd move at 16 weeks, by 17 weeks i definetely knew when she was awake and asleep. what's the anyone else has felt baby move? just wondering for this time.

HellKat · 18/02/2006 10:06

I'm 100% sure i've felt "bubbling" so far. It's happened 4 times, different times of the day. Very odd. I felt ds1 move at 16 wks and ds2 at 13/14 wks so maybe.

mabel1973 · 18/02/2006 10:35

I remember feeling DS at 18 weeks, but like you HK I have felt something like bubbles already, but just assumed it was my stomach

puppy · 18/02/2006 12:07

hugs to you Radster, sorry to hear of your bad news, take care.

I've not felt any movements yet but i'm only just 9 weeks, with DS i felt him at 16 weeks.

Feeling very refreshed today my mum had ds for the afternoon and night, so had a good nights sleep as ds normally climbs into bed with us in the early hours and plays with my hair in his sleep lol.

cupcakes · 18/02/2006 17:52

I have had two moments of that fluttering feeling which could have been described as a movement - or maybe it was just gas!

compo · 18/02/2006 20:48

so sorry to hear that Radster Take good care of yourself xxx

Whispers !!! Trying not to get too excited but definitely feel better today - I'll probably be on tomorrow saying I'm chicking my guts up again!!
