Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh Dairy that's really sad :( I do hope they get results that mean they can treat it easily and quickly.

Hello to everyone else.... sounds like things are moving on apace for people with cramps and such like... it'll be all systems go soon! Speaking of which, blondie you better have some exciting news for us when you get back, or we'll never speak to you again! I'm sure this suspense is not good for our respective blood pressures! Hope everything is going alright for you :)

My maternity cover turned up at lunch today! Nothing like giving me some warning, hey?! Oh well, apart from the total panic of my desk being in a pigsty and me not really having anything sensible planned for the afternoon, which she was then going to witness, it went ok. She seems very nice and I'm sure it will be easier having another pair of hands. I just need to get over the awkwardness of telling someone how to do their job now....

The bursar has confirmed my first official day of Mat leave will be June 11th so that's good, means I get paid through half term. Yay.

Was a bit worried today by someone at work saying she didn't think I'd last another five weeks, by her reckoning I looked "almost cooked"! I would be delighted if it wasn't as much as five weeks now, but equally that alarmed me slightly!!

Kveta · 22/05/2012 19:20

oh no Dairy how sad :( hope results arrive quickly and are as positive as possible.

gwennie I have loads of teacher friends who are finishing at half term and due mid-late June and early July - sounds like the sensible option! Although they are all in Scotland, so think half term starts a wee bit earlier.

I am absolutely wiped out after so much sunshine. My celtic background did not prepare me for hot weather, so that, combined with a manic toddler and being massively pg, meant a very wearing day! DS has been fun, but very full on as usual - the child doesn't know the meaning of silence!! we got the paddling pool out, and I made the mistake of pumping it up, so am sore from that. And he decided to 'swim' in the 2mm of water, but without removing his clothes Hmm so ended up stripped off and galloping round the garden squealing.

38 weeks today, 2 weeks to go, 3 weeks maximum, woohoo!!!!! can't possibly go any slower than it is now :o hope everyone is enjoying the weather, and getting ready for D-Day! not long now!

rhihaf · 22/05/2012 20:10

Dairynips - I've only drank one cup of RL tea so far... am going to try keeping a vat of it in the fridge for this hot weather. Fingers crossed for you and MIL - sending lots of positive vibes your way.

Thanks for all the info guys - am hoping lots of gardening and walking will help the bump turn.

Anyone heard anything from Blondie yet? She MUST be having a baby - wooowooooooo!!

Good luck everyone, hope everyone's coping ok with the last lap... I've given up trying to resist eating crap and have just had two massive scoops of chocolate ice cream and 5 squares of frozen caramel... yum!

StarlightMcKenzie · 22/05/2012 20:18

I haven't lived in SW London long enough to have a clue what Wisley is.

Birth pools was delivered next door as we were in the garden. Neighbour brought it round with a well-meaning grin Blush

Midwife doing homebirth booking and visit on Friday now. Been assured that if I go into labour before then can still have a homebirth.

Sorry about your MIL Dairy. I hope that whatever they find is easily and conveniently treated.

DairyNips · 22/05/2012 20:20

Thanks ladies. We're crossing our fingers it's the kind they can operate on..Sorry to bring the thread down with my sad news.

Things are getting close for us all now, how -scary- excitingGrin I'll be 38 wks tomorrow eek. Midwife app on thurs.

Just cooked fajitas, they seem to be my craving this pregnancy. Waiting for dh to come back from his run then we'll dig inSmile

I forgot to tell you all about the highly insensitive comment from my hairdresser at the weekend! She was asking about the baby and got on to talking about when we daughter gave birth in hosp. She then came out with 'you know what, I was waiting in the hosp for dd and I never realised just how many people's babies die. People were coming out of rooms crying, it was awful'. I just didn't know what to saySad I mean, obviously these devastating things do happen but why would you say that to someone who's weeks from giving birth?!Confused I already have a feeling my luck has run out so she just made me a bit paranoid.

Tbh, she's always saying insensitive things, another time I told her I worked in an elderly residential home and she said 'oh yeah, gods waiting room', nice. I don't think I'll be going back there tbh, on top of her ridiculous comments she always combs my hair really hard and hurts my head!

DairyNips · 22/05/2012 20:22

Obvs meant scary

McKayz · 22/05/2012 20:24

Dairy Sorry to hear about your MIL. Thinking of you.

Im on 3 RLT tablets a day. I don't know if they really help but I will try anything.

I can not get even a little bit comfy tonight.

blondiedollface · 22/05/2012 21:15

Evening ladies, so sorry to have kept you all in suspense, but Babyblondie is hanging on in there (god only knows how).

Got rushed into hospital yesterday early morning with swollen hands/feet, the worst headache I've ever had, unable to look at any light and generally feeling shit like I was dying. So obviously they presumed pre-eclampsia and I was taken straight to delivery and prepared for c/s whilst they awaited test results. It wasn't, I just had a temperature, raised bp (for me, it was only 125/80), oedema and my first ever migraine... Honestly I think I'd have rather been giving birth, it was horrific for about 14 hours, then started slowly subsiding. I did have contractions again yesterday, but the MW put it down to stress and my cervix seems to be remaining in it's 'no plug, but keeping shut' state.

So I apologise for my absence as I was banned from any tv/laptop/reading until (tomorrow technically) tonight but I had to come on and let you all know I was ok, just still bumpy!

I don't think it will be long, but mother nature seems to be sending me all manner of trials and tribulations to test me until then. Keeping positive, sending LO all the love in the world to stop teasing us all and come and say hello world Grin fingers crossed eh?

Tomorrow when I am completely back I shall be reading all your lovely posts properly. Night all, sleep well Xx

justwantcheese · 22/05/2012 21:18

Dairynips sorry about your mil, here's to a quick and healthy recovery.

some people don't think before they open their big mouths, I think its very rare for babies to die in hospital, she doesn't know what she's talking about. ignore her x

McKayz · 22/05/2012 21:38

Oh Blondie that sounds horrible. At least it wasn't pre-eclampsia.

ffnorm · 22/05/2012 22:12

Dairy sorry to hear about your MIL Thanks Also sounds like you have a delightful hairdresser, perhaps a change is due lots of people cry in and around labour ward,it's very seldom that it's related to a baby's death

Great news Starlight

Sorry to hear you've been unwell Blondie at least it wasn't pre eclampsia...

Night all

Fanbelt · 22/05/2012 22:22

Ladies - just quickly logging on to tell you my news 'cos DH needs to use computer.

Long and short of it, my C-Section has been brought forward to tomorrow morning 'cos at growth scan this morning it looks like LO hasn't grown much since last scan 3 wks ago and they reckon she's better out than in. Current estimated weight is 5lbs 10oz at 38 wks.

Spent most of the day at hospital filling in forms, having bloods done and being monitored. Got home and have had to get childcare sorted for tomorrow morning 'cos have to be at hospital at 7am. So it hasn't really sunk in properly yet!

My phone's crap at Mumsnet/FB so won't be able to update until I get home from hospital which may not be until the weekend or early next week. Will update you all then. Wish us luck for tomorrow!! Smile Smile Smile Smile

McKayz · 22/05/2012 22:25

Ohhhh Fanbelt good luck!! Will be thinking of you xx

10000fireflies · 22/05/2012 22:27

Good luck Fanbelt!

SpecialJK · 22/05/2012 22:42

Good luck for tomorrow fanbelt!!

TeaandHobnobs · 22/05/2012 22:46

Good luck Fanbelt! Can't wait to hear your news. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping it all goes smoothly.

Poor Blondie, what a horrible experience. I'd have been tempted to ask the doctors to deliver me anyway! not that they would I guess. glad you are back home now and I hope BabyBlondie puts in an appearance soonish.

Dairy fingers crossed that the prognosis for your MIL is good. What a worry this close to your due date Sad

Star don't worry, no reason why you should have heard of Wisley! It's the HQ (I think?) of the Royal Horticultural Society, just down the A3 in Surrey - we discovered a thread or two ago that many of us spent happy childhood days there, and it seemed like a nice place to organise a meet for those in the South.

Hope everyone else has survived the heat today - I know I would have been a total nightmare today if I had still been pregnant!

Family Tea had a lovely afternoon out to Richmond Park, followed by an unscheduled visit to MIL's new house in Isleworth. She has just about finished doing up what was an awful 1970s decor pebbledash end-of-terrace, and it looks BEAUTIFUL! I may not agree with her on a lot of things in life, but she certainly has an eye for property renovation! DH and I are rather jealous.

Hopefully we have worn BabyTea out so he has a nice long sleep. He has this rather annoying habit of waking for a feed around 2am, and refusing to go back down after, and staying up til his next feed around 4:30. So exhausting. Although this morning he went down again at 4:30 and slept til 8:30, so he gets a gold star for that Grin

Finding it hard to judge how to dress him / layers required in this weather Confused

Smallwonder · 22/05/2012 22:46

Fan belt -- oh so thinking of you GrinGrinGrin safe delivery and thoughts with u all xxx

Wow!!!! Grin

Dairy -- sorry to hear about MIL :( fingers crossed for results.
Blondie keep taking it easy that must've been tiring for u all x glad your home x

If anyone is awake later do feel free to zombie shift with me. I hate the evenings and already know it will be another long one -- can't get comfy at all and my thirst levels are ridiculous!
Bidding u all a pleasant night x

ellybett · 22/05/2012 22:47

Masses of good luck Fanbelt. Will be thinking of you.

Lots of take care thoughts to blondie too. These June babies definitely seem keen!

dairy really sorry to hear about you MIL. Fingers crossed for some positive news on the horizon. Your hairdresser sounds like a right moose.

littleme I'm with you on the stretch marks. I'm becoming a bit obsessed about using bio oil but really think its a losing battle. I have the itchiness too, just started this week, bizarrely my appendix scar is driving me crazy!

warlin hope your dog gets better soon poor thing. Can I just say as well you would not be selfish putting yourself first wrt invites etc. This time of pregnancy before your first baby you will never get back. This is the time you are definitely meant to indulge in doing nothing, to lie on the sofa, watch cheesy films, enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy!

small good luck with the sleeping tonight!

My Dad is coming for a visit tomorrow which will be nice and will definitely be a good distraction for dd. It's definitely too hot for me but at least I can let dd run riot in the garden!

DairyNips · 22/05/2012 23:14

fanbelt ooh good luck for tomorrow! Will be thinking of youSmile Can't wait for update and pics.
