Good to see you ellybett keep posting!
starlight hope everything works out for you and I mean that, often makes our own worlds seem so trivial when the bigger picture is painted on a more complex canvas (if that makes sense). Good to see more of you now.
tea will baby tea be making any appearances of the photographic kind on our page Grin hope u are all well.
gwennie Thai curry sounds yummy, I made a boring spinach and potato one simply for iron intake, well done on organising school stuff -- don't know where you get the motivation/energy from!
kveta hope you are ok! Do let us know ASAP
tdw totally envious at all the yummy treats you're baking. I LOVE to cook but cannot bake very well, will accept all leftovers happily :)
blondie we ought to make you check in daily considering our money is on you being next :o hope you're alright!
mckayz hope u got some rest today cathfin tell more about knitting please. When I read about the MN blankets being made and John Lewis wool I couldn't help wonder if I should take it up.... I just don't see me sat next to DH on sofa with knitting needles.... Where does one start?! It might be good for my ever busy mind :)
ffnorm sounds like a good day was had and worth the exhaustion

ffnorm · 20/05/2012 07:48

Morning all. Hope some of us got some sleep. My sister skype called at 22 45 last night and even though I love hearing from her (she lives in Canada) I was about to go to bed.She asks how am I,I say tired and she proceeds to talk for 45 min and literally she talks and I say uh mmm etc I must sound like such a cow

DS was awake at 05 00 but by some miracle fell asleep in our bed until 06 30...So a slightly later start this morning Grin

Going to a barbecue today,so hoping for a rain free day but not that hopeful.

Tea those H&M tops look nice...and a good price Smile

Nice to see you Elly

Small - we started a very small knitting group locally and we meet up about once a month, it was enough just to get the basic stitches and there are lots of patterns that you just need knit and pearl stitches for.
You can also find demo's on youtube as well which are very useful...
Luckily the person who set up our group in a champion knitter so can unravel most of our problems. My blanket is made up of squares so its not too tricky and its also a pattern my gran used to knit when she did baby blankets for friends and as she passed away last year it spurred me on to find out how to do it myself as its lovely to be able to give a personal gift like that I think.
although the speed I knit I don't think many are going to get done!

Awful nights sleep here, everything was wrong, baby moving making me feel sick, itchy swollen lady bits, restless legs, heartburn, coughing DS.

Felt like it was a conspiracy to make me extra grumpy today!

Star - it all sounds very stressful for you, hope you can get to see the midwives with everything else going on.

Kveta · 20/05/2012 10:02

just spoke to hospital and they have said no major cause for concern (thank god!) but if I feel worse, go see GP or practice nurse to get BP checked/urine tested. Makes me feel a bit better, as I was starting to worry myself last night!! I think my BP must be as low as normal though, as nearly passed out in the shower again... Oh, I DO love being pg Hmm

38 weeks on tuesday, which means 3 weeks max until she's out or I'm being induced, woohoo!! This feels like the longest 9 months of my life!

DS was up all bloody night last night - after a day with no TV at all. it always happens like that, little swine - advice is to restrict viewing, so sometimes we do have days without TV, and he always, always sleeps badly that night. so today he is being force fed peppa pig for at least an hour :o he has just appeared next to me telling me his doggy is sad because he's bumped his head - best go and look after the poorly toy!!

McKayz · 20/05/2012 11:35

Morning,

I managed to sleep last night, one toilet trip and was back to sleep. Got woken up at half 6 by DS1.

Kveta I am glad the hospital said everything is ok. Sorry you were up all night.

I have just been looking at DS2's red book and I decided to try and work out Baby's weight using the girl weight graphs. At the 30 week scan she was on the 98th centile line and if she stays on there then she will only be 9lb 14oz. Not the 11lb the MW is worried about.

Warlin · 20/05/2012 11:41

grrrrrrrrrr, just wrote my second long post in 2 days and the internet has gone down... we haven't got broadband sorted yet after moving house and those 3G things are crap.

Will keep this short in case it won't go through again...

kveta glad everything's ok, better to be reassured. Sounds like you BP is low but not long to go now. I agree, it feels like the longest 9 months ever, yet other people keep saying that the time has flown!

small thanks for noticing my absence! Just had an awful few days in work but thankfully all sorted (woman sacked, was emotionally draining and am def softer with these pregnancy hormones but relieved it's done). One more week to go until mat leave...roll on!

starlight hope you get a midwife sorted, you def sound like you're having a tough time. Hope you're keeping the chin up....will be worth it when LO arrives!

I had lovely lie in this morning as DH took the dog to the beach early so I got peace...it was the least he could do after subjecting me to the rugby and football yesterday and then falling asleep drunk on the sofa :( he won't be doing that once LO arrives.

Off to MIL's this afternoon...really can't be bothered. Not feeling very sociable at the minute and talking just drains me..plus I'm a bit snappy at the minute so being polite isn't easy Grin

Hope everyone has a fab < well, as comfortable as possible> Sunday.

June 14th still seems an eternity away for me yet!

McKayz · 20/05/2012 12:11

Oh bloody hell another thread just reminded me of after pains. Better stock up on painkillers.

ceeej · 20/05/2012 12:56

good to see you back star, getting the nursing clips to convert your normal bra sounds like a great idea, will have a look in our local haberdashery store next week to see if I can locate some.

McKayz I know nothing about afterpains! How long do they last, and are all painkillers OK when breastfeeding?

blondiedollface · 20/05/2012 12:58

Hello ladies, just checking in as per request by small

Have skim-read but brain is retaining even less than usual.. After 9 hours sleep Friday night I had a horrible day yesterday contractions for 6 hours, immense pressure down there and horrific period-type cramping. As well as all that had to endure a visit from MIL, FIL and SIL who came, made everything reek of smoke, drank 3 cups of tea each and left (eugh, but rant over). Had a lovely bath in the evening and then my mucus plug went... Warning TMI: It looked as if I'd sneezed into the bathwater after a particularly nasty cold, the joys of pg eh? So midwife has said it literally could be 'any time now' but also not to worry as some people's plug goes a while before birth..

Cooking a Sunday roast today (well DH will be) and my mum is coming over, haven't seen her in over a week and can't wait!

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday, I'm sure I'll be back on later with proper replies and such :)

Xx

DairyNips · 20/05/2012 13:04

Ooh Mckayz was it my after pains thread?

blondie Sorry you've had such an awful time with the cramping etc again. Bet you're just wishing it was it now do you could get it over with. Good mucus plug description, delightful isn't itGrin

McKayz · 20/05/2012 13:05

Ceej I don't think I had them with DS1 but they lasted about 2 days with DS2. Every time l fed him it was unbearable. You can take paracetamol and ibruprofen but not aspirin. I think codeine is bad too. I just started a thread in the feeding topic so I'll go check.

Blondie eeeek exciting news. Not yukky in laws obviously. I had DS2 12 hours after my plug went.

McKayz · 20/05/2012 13:07

Dairy no it was another one unless you name changed for it Grin I'd happily forgotten after pains.

DairyNips · 20/05/2012 13:10

No name change lolGrin

Oh someone wrote on my thread to take codeine do I'm confused nowConfused

McKayz · 20/05/2012 13:13

I was given this link on the painkillers one it says that it's not that good for babies. Could slow their breathing. But it could be used for a very short time. So I'm going to avoid it completely.

DairyNips · 20/05/2012 13:28

Thanks for the link. Think I'll get some ibuprofen for my labour bagSmile

bemybebe · 20/05/2012 13:31

Hi guys! Just a quick message to say that my broadband was working really badly over the past two weeks (still does!), instead of normal 20mbps, we are receiving 1-2mbps, so it takes ages to load everything. I am taking to the company, but all they do is changing the channels, so it does go up temporarily only to drop down again a few hours later...

We are doing well, 36 weeks this coming friday. BH are getting really uncomfy and the baby is kicking so hard, I feel my whole uterus is blue and black inside, especially when she goes for the top, ribs area!

I bought a natal hypnotherapy set and listen to the relaxation exercises almost daily. I took the view that since it cannot hurt anyone and it may help it is a worthwhile investment.

Anybody looked at hiring/buying TENS?? Is there any difference between the brands? Any particularly good deals around? Anything that I need to look at?

I saw the bra discussion earlier, I got two EmmaJane 361 bras (10GBP each). They are NOT underwired, but I prefer those as they are soft and comfortable to lie in bed and fit any size between B-F (but do buy the right chest size or go for smaller chest and buy bra extenders). I have read some reviews and some people mention that the straps fall off the shoulders, but it does not happen to me.

I am still on love with Bamboo Baby brand, all of my baby clothes come from them, mostly picked up from the sale section. This baby grow currently on very good discount is gorgeous and no, I am not working for them!

Smile
AmethystMoon · 20/05/2012 15:12

Afternoon all. Just a quick one to say I'm glad you're ok kveta Smile and hope you have a lovely day with your mum blondie make the most of it as it looks like little blondie's gonna be next Grin ooh so exciting!
Trying to gather enthusiasm to do housework at the moment. Feel more like a snooze though!

thedogwalker · 20/05/2012 15:36

Hi all
McKayz, the veins are horrible aren't they. I'm hoping they will settle down after the birth. My skin looks really translucent, I think it's at it's maximum stretch, hoping I can't get any bigger.
Kveta so glad everything is ok, at least you can relax now. I know the low BP thing as I suffer too, that's my excuse for baking and eating so much cake, need the sugar to stop the dizzy spells Grin
Whoo hoo Blondie I had DS1 within 24 hours of my plug going, so I really think you are on your way. Good luck, thinking of you and keep us all updated.
Special where are you, you've been AWOL for a few days now, hope you're ok and the LO is turning Smile.

Good news from my household, DH has left Afghanistan and is now in Cyprus. He has to go to Germany for a few days but should be home next Saturday. I am so happy and thanked God when he let me know he was safe, so relieved he will be home safe and well soon. We have not lived together for 14 months, obviously he has visited for weekends etc when he could, but it will be great to have him home for good Grin Grin Grin.

Hope everyone is well, take care xx

McKayz · 20/05/2012 15:41

TDW woooo!! That's great news!!!

bemybebe · 20/05/2012 16:04

Great news thedogwalker!

Kveta · 20/05/2012 16:34

brilliant news TDW :)

ellybett · 20/05/2012 16:58

tdw fab news. Next Saturday is so close now! And by then they'll be another (not quite June) baby. Things are all happening now blondie, take it easy and sleep every chance you get!

ffnorm in no way whatsoever do you sound like a cow, I have windows of energy in which things can be achieved, you know, like conversation, and if they don't coincide with other people then tough! Endured our usual Sunday morning madness at the in-laws today, 5 kids under 5 and 11 adults so never quiet. I just sat on the couch looking very vague as couldn't find the brain power to join in!

warlin glad you got a lie in, makes such a difference. I actually cried this morning as dh whisked dd off as soon as she landed on our bed whispering 'sssh, mummy needs to sleep'. Was the most thoughtful thing he could have done!

kveta glad you're doing ok, can't believe your dd will be here so soon as I'm not due until 23rd. But yes, I agree with you, this has been a very long nine (well, eight) months!

Hi small, hope you're sleeping better. Last two nights haven't been great on the heartburn front for me, had to take 6 gaviscon last night and they only just worked. And what doesn't help is dh pondering whether he's ever had heartburn as he's 'not sure'. Tempted to whack him in the chest with a mallet so he has a fair idea!

Ordered my tens machine hire last night so am now feeling I've done everything I can to prepare. The natal hypnotherapy cd seems to be really effective.

Am debating whether to go down to my dad's on the 9th June, it's about 150 miles away. We've had a busy May so haven't had time this month so it's the first chance we'll have but it'll only be 2 weeks before due date. The con's are I don't really fancy giving birth in an unknown hospital (Southmead) and we wouldn't have any of the big equipment with us, car seat or moses basket. Pro's are I went a week over with DD so am probably overthinking this, and if we don't go then it won't be until a few weeks after the birth. My mum lives in a care home and feel really guilty for not visiting more often but as she has alzheimer's she doesn't really hold it against me! Wish I could see into the future to see when this LO is planning on joining us!

TeaandHobnobs · 20/05/2012 17:23

Yay TDW that's awesome! Grin

HorseyGirl1 · 20/05/2012 18:25

YAY - TDW!

Smallwonder · 20/05/2012 18:32

tdw fantastic news!!! Really happy for you Grin

I've been in the most awful mood for most of the day and spent most of it between bed and bathroom. DC2 and 3 just left to their nan's and I plan on some quality time with DC3. I'm such a bag of emotions it's not funny Angry DS1 brought me a drink and a packet of skittles and told me not long now mummy, you rest while we play at nanny's -- cue waterworks and cuddles.
It is just over a fortnight now till the birth Confused
Bemybebe - glad your back. Sorry for anyone missed but will take my happy arse off now x
