Hi small, mckayz and rachy and anyone else awake! I just know I will be knackered later! You're right though this would be much easier with a baby to keep me occupied. Rather than sitting in my nursing chair so i don't disturb DP whilst I surf MN Grin
rachy it was JSW in Petersfield, I made one glass of very nice wine last the whole meal. Makes a change from the last posh meal we had when we had different wines to go with each course of an 8 course tasting menu...and then port after cocktails beforehand Grin I was very squiffy indeed Blush you're right about the starters, we had a 5 course tasting menu and the first was shell fish, so I pointed out bump and they very kindly did seabass which was nicer than DS's shell fish Grin I also had raw salmon (certainly wasn't cooked but might have been smoked or cured in some way?) and very pink lamb....just hoping LO is robust enough now as I've been very good at avoiding all non-pregnancy food until now.

rachyroodle · 19/05/2012 05:36

Just worked out what Feet means. Nothing to do with my massive belly and everything to do with the fact I told the Midwife that my feet were swelling up! Maybe should avoid reading maternity notes so early in the morning when I am a bit dopey! Blush Not resorted to TV yet but may do soon. It is very boring being awake at this time of day!

rachyroodle · 19/05/2012 05:41

Amethyst just read your post. JSW sounds great. Have heard it is really lovely there. Sounds like the salmon and lamb too good to miss. Went to Restaurant 27 in Southsea a few months ago and sure I had a few nibbles of things I shouldn't - too hard to resist!

Smallwonder · 19/05/2012 06:01

Lol at FEET :) have questioned notes too only to realise later what is meant. Pregnancy brain.
Yup, will all probably be nodding off mid-morning/ afternoon - DH has only today work free so will be making the most of it I think, the scary thought is first of the dc could be awake from 7 onwards.... Must try not to be too grumpy!
and close this door leaving the other wide open so dc can see DH clearly as I am obviously not there

Smallwonder · 19/05/2012 06:02

amethyst and rachy you do realise that you've now made me hungry!?!
Trip to kitchen me thinks .....

McKayz · 19/05/2012 06:41

I fell back to sleep only to be woken up by DS1 singing a hymn from sch

McKayz · 19/05/2012 06:41

Arghh!! Pressed wrong button.

A hymn from school that ends 'thank you God for everything' yeah except sleep!!!

Smallwonder · 19/05/2012 06:58

Mckayz not much consolation to you but that is so sweet!
I sincerely hope you manage some rest today, I am really hoping tonight is better as I am on own tomorrow and DH looks very busy week coming up. Coping is one thing but doing it when on minimal fuel is something else. I was a zombie yesterday and an emotional one at that.
Have replied to some emails and played a few games on the iPad (current life saver) and not tired so off to prepare breakfast so I can return to bed when everyone else is full of life, fed and watered.
X

McKayz · 19/05/2012 07:09

I am going to spend the day lying on the sofa I think!

Kveta · 19/05/2012 07:59

DS launched at 5am, and brought all his toys into our room, then switched them all on at once. I think he may be possessed with some sort of evil sleep-hating spirits.

off to get him some bedding for his new bed which is arriving today, so a couple of hours traipsing the shops - yay...

we will all get some sleep one day, right?!

CathFin · 19/05/2012 08:13

Amethyst my yoga teacher just emailed me an info sheet on perineal massage so if you want me to pass it on message me with your email address and I will forward it, there is also a sheet on post birth recovery if anyone is interested.

DS had a good old cough at 3am which woke us all up (apart from him really!) so had to put DD back in bed but then fortunately I slept until 6am which is quite good for here!

Feel like I have an alien trying to escape from my tummy half the time - very uncomfortable - don't remember the others being quite this active or maybe my tummy muscles are so wrecked that I can just feel the movements more??

PinkPanther27 · 19/05/2012 09:28

Hello fellow non sleepers. I am always too tired and confused when i wake to think about coming on here and seeing who else is about. I get woken up with hip pain and have to constantly change sides. Dr gave me co-codamol for this but im nearly 38 weeks so dont wanna take it so close to the birth.
Had scan Thurs and they said everythings looking good, couldnt see her face v well as she's so far down. Blondie hope things are ok?
Hope u all get more sleep tonight!

blondiedollface · 19/05/2012 11:05

I am a little bit miffed as I slept solidly for 9 hours last night. I kid you not I didn't even wake up to pee!! Wondering if this is the calm before the storm, ate 2 whole tins of pineapple yesterday, drank a whole carton of pineapple juice, drank some tonic water, went for a fairly long waddle and had a nice curry made by DH last night :)

No pains since I woke up, so v suspicious of what my body is doing! Feel refreshed for the first time in forever and like I have a normal amount of energy...

Hope all of you who had a rubbish nights sleep get some rest today, and put your feet up.

ceeej · 19/05/2012 11:21

My word it looks like most of you were up all night, hope you don't find today too draining. I just woke up to find my friend who is 4 weeks ahead of me had her baby overnight and the pictures made me melt, soooooo adorable. Really happy for her and it also makes the fact that ours will be arriving soon very very real. Today I will get on and pack my hospital bag.

Will catch up properly later, blondie here's hoping that either your body has decided to give you a rest or is just gearing up for getting that baby out, do keep us updated.

thedogwalker · 19/05/2012 14:12

Afternoon all. Sorry to hear alot of you are having sleeping problems, hope you all manage a better night tonight.
Blondie, oh yes, the calm before the storm, enjoy the rest whilst you can.

Had a lovely 3 mile walk, pushing DS1 in his pushchair up and down hills this morning, now feeling a bit achey but no rest for the wicked as I am just about to start baking a carrot cake, got visitors tomorrow and always have to bake, still got left over chocolate chip and raisin cookies from yesterday if anyone wants one, they are sooooo yummy Grin.
Hope everyonbe has a good day xx

gwenniebee · 19/05/2012 15:11

Oh dear, sounds like lots of you had awful nights :( I am feeling rather guilty about the fact I got a reasonable sleep! Although I'm also wondering if I still have all this to come - I'm only 34 weeks....... I seem to have gone through phases of needing to pee all night and not sleeping well throughout my pregnancy but strangely not when all the books say I should be experiencing these things!!

I am definitely experiencing the joy of the braxton hicks :( Not to mention the heartburn. I seem to have awful pains in my bump when I move around, but I really don't want to end up being sedentary as I'm sure this can't help.... wanted to suggest to DH that we had a walk today but by the time we'd gone into town for some birthday presents for friends and done the supermarket shop I wanted to cry! So I haven't suggested that. Maybe tomorrow....

Am going to finish writing my class reports now - marked my English books up to date this morning so if I use my useless stationary state to write reports it won't be such a waste!

Drinking my first cup of raspberry leaf tea - hoping to "body build" in my uterus!! And that it doesn't have a horrible effect on the bh's......

Kveta · 19/05/2012 15:30

I am in a total fury today. DH cannot do anything right, except wasp killing (our house is being invaded by the most enormous wasps just now, not sure where from though!), and DS is irritating me hugely.

we got DS's bed delivered today, so we're spending the whole afternoon putting the bastard thing together. fun.

hope to get some rest tonight so I don't end up with a perma-frown after today!!

17 days to go...

CathFin · 19/05/2012 15:59

Awww I popped in to see my friend who had her baby this week, he is too cute! Totally jealous of the fact she is no longer pregnant too!

Gwennie - my bump really hurts too although not so bad when I was walking today - the baby is really making me uncomfy when it moves too, can definitely sympathise with those getting the chicken noise thing going on!

Last two parts of The Bridge tonight - I seem to have watched the whole series so far on iPlayer this week while knitting my baby blanket!

thanks for the heads up about spinning and acupuncture ladies, will try everything available as thought of CS really scary!!!

AmethystMoon · 19/05/2012 17:30

Hi anna welcome, you're just in time Grin

Despite no sleep I decided digging the garden was a cunning plan for today. Theory being I'll be so shattered tonight I can't fail to sleep. So far just a sore back Blush garden looking better though Grin
It seems to be heartburn and painful hips waking me at the moment. Can't believe how many of us were on here last night. Nice knowing we're there though Smile
blondie hope your body is giving you a break, and well done on your pineapple consumption Grin
kveta sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbishy, hope bed assembly is going well.
Right I have just been handed a bagel with butter and chicken bovril on it by DP so off to scoff that Grin

AmethystMoon · 19/05/2012 17:31

Forgot to say anna copy our stats list and add yourself. We've also got a Facebook group that kveta can add you to if you want to see us all for real Smile

gwenniebee · 19/05/2012 19:20

Well, I finished my reports :)

Keep meaning to ask - I'm intending to breastfeed and as such am going to need some clothes with "easy access"! I don't want to go overboard, particularly if it turns out that I can't feed for some reason, but I don't want to be stuck with nothing I feel I can go out in for the first few months!

Anyone any recommendations of styles/retailers? At the moment I am disappointed by mothercare (not least because everything seems to be out of stock and it's not that nice anyway) and alarmed by the prices everywhere else! I've just put a couple of bid in on ebay but suspect I'm being too cheap..!

ffnorm · 19/05/2012 19:26

Yesterday,I left the house at 08 15 to meet up with friends for brunch in Angel then went to meet another friend and her 3 month old for late lunch in West Hampstead, got home at 17 45.So essentially a day of eating and talking but was I exhausted today... Had a 2 hour nap with DS and woke to DH making bacon and eggs with tomato and mushrooms Smile

This afternoon we went to the shops and I got 2 nighties from Matalan £6 each with button down fronts - for the hospital bag Smile

Welcome Anna,we are a talkative bunch Grin

ffnorm · 19/05/2012 19:33

Gwennie one of my close friends EBF for 11 months, never bought a single "feeding" top/dress not even nursing bras, she used to somehow pop her boob out of normal old underwire and was never indiscreet.
I of course had umpteen nursing bras and never got BF off the ground. Am hoping to get on better with Bf this time but don't think I will worry with feeding clothes until I'm sure it's working.
