Bolognese? Bolognaise? You know what I mean.....

Biscuitsandtea · 11/05/2012 21:57

Also could do curry, chilli, cottage pie?

LOandI · 11/05/2012 22:12

Thank you ScrambledSmegs; I'm slowly starting to cotton on :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/05/2012 00:53

Big hugs to Munx. Being immobile sucks especially at the beginning of it all kicking in. You have all my sympathy, and sending lots of No Brooking that this will ease up for you.

Ninja thanks for asking about DD she's still perfect Grin She has the cutest range of expressions, I love her little grins and also the old man grump look she gets when she's sleeping. Sadly none of this sleep takes place between midnight and 6am, but she's only 2 weeks old so DH and I are just going with the flow for now.

By the way, my primary freezer recommendation would have to be comfort food! My favourite comfort foods are shepherd's pie and chilli con carne, and my Mum made loads of both and delivered them in individual size freezable tupperware containers straight after the birth - yum!

Still No Brooking for Myth!

hi everyone :)
hope you are all well and congrats on those whos lovely babies have arrived.

Baby Theo arrived on wednesday morning weighing 7lb 9 and im just smitten. the rat smacking seems such a long time ago now, but here we all are :)

mythical · 12/05/2012 04:30

Just going home from hospital now - they don't think the pains are normal labour contractions - they are too painful in the wrong area (only pelvic area) - they think it's a combination of really bad SPD and contractions - as i've been having them for so long but they are literally doing nothing - still 2 cms. I've been given some codeine and a sleeping pill but as the baby is happy they won't do anything else..
Not in a good place ATM ..

Biscuitsandtea · 12/05/2012 05:04

Oh Myth SadSad

You poor poor thing. Hope you can sleep though and get some rest. Maybe today will be your day?

Meconium how lovely to hear from you Smile. Congratulations on baby Theo - super super news! Feel free to pop into the post grad thread - there's normally at least one of us working a night shift WinkGrin

Biscuitsandtea · 12/05/2012 05:05

Oh and Myth - just Shock at pains too painful to be contractions Sad. Hope the codeine works Thanks

jaggythistle · 12/05/2012 06:52

oh sorry to hear that myth, hope it's not too much longer for you. :(

congratulations meconium! hope to see you popping in on the post natal thread. :(

NinjaChipmunk · 12/05/2012 09:30

oh myth you poor sausage, I really hope today brings more luck for you. I hope you manage to get some sleep too, you must feel very drained.

Congratulations meconium lovely news, great to see you again.

munx I forgot to say how sorry I was to hear about how much pain you are in. Is there anything they can do or any painkillers they can give you? Will they refer to a physio?

I'm glad you are so in love scream, its impossible to explain those immense feelings until you have the baby. I think that was one of the reasons I was scared when I gave birth to ds - I didn't know what you 'get' at the end of it (a baby obviously but I think the feelings are unexplainable). Hopefully that will stand me in good stead this time. I may well take a pic of ds in my hospital bag just to remind me why I decided to do it all again!

mythical · 12/05/2012 09:54

Sleeping pill didn't work - it just made my chest feel tight - I fell asleep for 10 min only to be woken up (by myself) screaming in pain so I left for the bath at around 6 30 so at least my dh can get some sleep. Still getting them every 10 minutes or so. They aren't doing anything towards actual labour they just got so bad and agonizing and I am so tired and distressed been sobbing since 6 I just don't know what to do. Lying/sitting makes them worse but I haven't got enough energy to walk around anymore..
Sorry to bring the mood down.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/05/2012 09:59

You poor thing Myth Sad

I know the hospital sent you home but is it worth calling them again and explaining how much pain you're in and that the sleeping tablet didn't work. I would also explain how exhausted you are and that it's worse when you lie down but you don't have the energy to walk around. Tell them exactly how bad it is without putting a brave face on it. If you're waking yourself up screaming with pain that isn't something a codeine tablet is going to help with!

Hope something happens soon. xxx

jenfraggle · 12/05/2012 10:17

Oh Myth, that sounds awful. I second calling the hospital and telling them that you need more pain relief.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/05/2012 10:32

Oh myth that sounds awful, you poor thing. Yes, please call the hospital, they have to do something -you're exhausted, that can't be good.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/05/2012 10:33

Sorry, quick Yay! Thanks Grin for meconium! Hope you're enjoying the newborn snuggles.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/05/2012 11:32

Congrats to Meconium! That's wonderful news! Hope to see you on the post grad thread!

Myth you poor thing! I agree with everyone saying call the hospital. Unfortunately I think hospitals tend to pooh-pooh first time Mums a bit, so you really need to stick to your guns to get better pain relief. You need a break though, you've been brave about this pain for days, now they need to give you something to really reduce the pain significantly. No brooking hard for this unproductive peon to vanish and your pain-free sneeze birth to begin!

Ninja it really wasn't until DD arrived that I could understand why anyone would go through pg more than once! Grin Now that she's here though I can actually see that if it wasn't for the SPD I might actually be persuaded to do it all again in a couple of years Shock

Unfortunately I can't really imagine being pg, Mum to a toddler, AND unable to walk without pain/crutches for 6 months! So I'll be sticking to adoption. Sooooo happy for all of you second-timers though! Also a little Envy

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/05/2012 11:35

"Peon"?!?! That's a fascinating word for my autocorrect to have! My iPhone can't spell "Autumn" but it knows "peon" Hmm

Anyways, I meant pain.

scarletfingernail · 12/05/2012 12:00

Congrats Meconium. Theo was my boys name if DD had been a DS. Love it!

Myth sorry to hear you're having such a hard time of it. FWIW it sounds exactly like the labour I had with DS. Back to back. I was also made to feel as though the fuss I was making must mean that it was something worse than contractions. For me the early labour lasted 2 days befote progressing past 2cm. I insisted then that they keep me in for pain relief. (I too had already been sent home twice previously). Don't feel bad for asking for pain relief, there's no prizes for being a martyr to pain. I completely regained control once the epidural kicked in.

pommedechocolat · 12/05/2012 13:00

I was going to ask if the baby was back to back as well? I was being induced so they couldn't send me home but they made me feel very silly until we got to three hours into second stage and then they started to panic... Hmm

mythical · 12/05/2012 13:22

Well.. I came in to be monitored... They were being a bit yeah we usually reserve strong painkillers for when ur in labour blabla ok fine - I get examined ...oh! Ur 6 cms...!!
Currently off my face on diamorphine so might not make much sense

jenfraggle · 12/05/2012 13:32

Woohoo! Go Myth!

NinjaChipmunk · 12/05/2012 13:34

yay for 6cm. go myth you can do it!

scarletfingernail · 12/05/2012 13:36

In that case myth I shall dust off my pom poms and cheer you on for your sneeze birth. I'm sure your LO will be here before bedtime.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/05/2012 13:59

Go Myth go!!!

I'm off to make rice crispie cakes (again - my not-pregnant-anymore craving) and so I'll pop back in 30 mins to hear all about your newborn snuggles WinkGrin

pommedechocolat · 12/05/2012 14:04

Woop woop! 6cm is awesome. baby coming soon...
