Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

tock I was advised nada until 12 weeks but I have a different history and decided to take a very cautious approach.
We were also told to avoid sex in the first trimester, again no reason why normal people should do this. We still have not DTD as Dh is worried, I haev tried to reassure him the baby won;t care. I think he has delusions of grandeur when it comes to his, ahem, apendage, and how far it will reach Shock

fluffy you should hang out with my DH, he was devasted about Sian's departure, he fancies the pants off her loves her.

Amazing news about fluttering!!!! Must be lovely! I was convinced I could feel something last night but at 13+4 it must be gas?

smegs you poor lamb, it does get better, promise, especially as you have managed to shave a few dates off the first trimester!!

Looks we have a few more baby brookers due soon!

jenfraggle · 02/05/2012 15:06

Friday is 4th May or as the Americans would say May the 4th. It is officially Star Wars Day, May the 4th Be With You :o

hawthers · 02/05/2012 15:07

But its the 4th in Friday... Isn't it? Or not?

My little brain hurts, I can't take it!

hawthers · 02/05/2012 15:08

Ahhh thanks jen

clickingtock · 02/05/2012 15:08

Grin @ far's DH! Yes - I appreciate you have had to take it super-easy. I think I will slow down but try to get that swim once a week as I did lots with last pg and I'm sure it was good for us both. But definitely feel that everything is a lot more delicate now I'm 40 so... I hope you get some non-penny sff (ifkwim) with DH?! Also so glad you are now at a later stage and can start to do a bit of swimming etc.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 15:17

May the 4th Be With You Ohhh deeeear...! :o :o

far I had first very weak movements about 15-16 weeks iirc, but I had to lie very still with my hand on my tummy to feel them iyswim - so it could be movement or wind! Sorry that's not very helpful, is it? :o

Goodness though, not sure I could make it to 40 weeks without a shag Shock Blush I think it's the hormones, I've been insatiable for the past fortnight Blush Maybe you can persuade DH to give it a go and just make sure it's, err, gentle??

ScrambledSmegs · 02/05/2012 15:23

I've been feeling strange flutterings occasionally, but assumed it was wind as I'm not far along. I didn't feel DD till 20 weeks because of the position of the placenta, so I don't really have a comparison.

May the 4th be with you?! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 02/05/2012 15:26

Oh I'm not thick then - just not the biggest a geek GrinWink

Wants3 · 02/05/2012 15:44

He he, sorry for the confusion! It has always been star wars day in our house!
I am just playing the waiting game now, I shouldn't be fed up yet as it is still early days but I am not used to not being at work or studying etc.

Stacks · 02/05/2012 16:02

Hi everyone. I'm going to have to do a quick post without reading back, then catch up later. I've just spent far, far too long reading back on the brooking ttc thread. So a quick me me me post, in case anyone is interested in me ;)

I'm now 8 weeks along, and feeling OK. The nausea has mostly gone, but I'm exhausted most of the time. Not helped by travelling to London yesterday with a full day of meetings. When I do feel unwell (or not) I've found carrying a bottle of lemon and water a godsend. I'm managing to drink about 2 litres a day of it. I make it up from about 1tbs of fresh lemon juice with 750ml of water. Very little sugar in the juice too, so it feels very healthy :)

My sister didn't have any MS till 10 weeks, so I'm wondering if the nausea will return. Just have to wait and see I guess.

How is everyone?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/05/2012 16:03

"May the 4th" hee hee hee! We've got to have at least one No Brooking Jedi baby!! Grin

Fluffy I love your comment about the hotel booking having already served its purpose. You're absolutely right, I hadn't thought of it like that! There's no cancellation fee so I haven't lost anything financially, and it did give me a huge boost at a stressful time.

It's great to have so many first tri No Brookers around. I feel all teary that our group is still going strong. I was a Rat Smacker for 2 months, and spent my whole pg as a No Brooker, and now I'm a post grad! This thread is amazing! (Blames sentimental mood on bfing hormones).

DD is my PFB so I haven't had any "complete family" comments, but I'm Angry on behalf of everyone who has! What a silly thing to say! How demeaning to your GORGEOUS ds2 or dd2! Silly people...!

I'm still waiting for irritating comments about choosing to call a baby born in Spring the name Autumn. So far we've only seen close family, but as we start to see more people I'm sure the comments will start... We chose that name partly because "Autumn" makes me think of red, gold and brown leaves. Given most of DH's family are blonde, most mixed race people have brown hair, and my DH himself is a redhead, we think there's a pretty good chance the name Autumn will reflect our DD's colouring. So far her hair is completely red so we could be right!

jenfraggle · 02/05/2012 16:08

You obviously live in a very cool household Wants

Nice to see you again Stacks I had all day, every day ms from week 5 to week 14 so am very Envy

It's pants how long it takes. I feel like I've been pregnant forever and I'm only 37 weeks. I would be induced on 1st June so could be pregnant for another month yet Shock I'm just so impatient now and DH keeps moaning at me for not eating. I'm just not hungry! So far today I have eaten 1 bowl of cereal. That is it. I don't want anything though. I've felt like this for weeks now and it is so out of character for me not a size 20 for nothing

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 16:20

Oh stacks I drink lemon water by the bucketfull atm, I didn't put 2+2 together with it being a pregnancy thing! DH buys me bottles of sparkling water and squeezes lemons into glasses with it, nom :)

I wonder if it's because the baby is squishing your tummy jen - bit of a gastric band type effect?!?!

I think her name is lovely scream - it didn't even occur to me to question why you'd name a Spring baby Autumn; you're hardly going to name her Spring :o

Stacks · 02/05/2012 16:35
Wink
Stacks · 02/05/2012 16:39

Fluffy I've drank it on and off for a couple of years, but tried it again on a whim to keep myself hydrated and found it really helped with feeling sick. Maybe got the idea from people saying citrus teas really helped them?
My usual drink is tea, tea or tea. However, tea tastes weird now and makes me feel a bit ill and dissatisfied. So lemon water it is, and it's amazing :)

jenfraggle · 02/05/2012 16:49

Hmm... I'm feeling so lazy, I just sit in the chair all day as I don't want to do anything. Everything just feels like too much effort. I'm really going to have to make things up to DH at some point as the arrangement we have is I cook and he cleans but for weeks now he has been doing everything. It's our 1st Wedding Anniversary in June and I have no idea what to get him

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 16:58

:o stacks

I know what you mean about the tea - I've gone right off squash (a staple in the Fluffy household) as it suddenly tastes of nothing but sweetener Envy

ScrambledSmegs · 02/05/2012 17:39

I've gone off tea, but also something worse - chocolate :( Easter was painful, DH chomping through vast amounts of milk chocolate, wafting it around under my nose, asking if I was sure I didn't want any. I could have killed him. It makes me want to throw up.

stacks I've just had some cold water with a squeeze of lemon. It's great! I can't believe I've not thought of having that before. Had it with a lovely buttered crumpet, now I feel a little more human.

I'm still feeling sick constantly, but funnily enough now that there's light at the end of the tunnel I feel like I can cope. Being 4 weeks further on that I thought is quite nice, now I'm over the shock.

Autumn is a lovely name, Scream, and I don't think it's odd for a spring baby. Funnily enough I know a little girl with the middle name of Spring, it really suits her. Most of the children round here seem to have quite 'out-there' names though, so I guess anything I can pronounce seems normal to me!

musicalmrs · 02/05/2012 17:49

Fluffy, that's a fabulous dress! I only got really boring maternity dresses, wish I'd had something lovely like that!

Glad all's going well for you Stacks :) I know what you mean about travel being exhausting - I commuted into London every day for most of my PG time working, and remember just how exhausting the travelling was.

Scream, I love the name Autumn :) Have since you first mentioned it! I think it's especially lovely as it's known as a name, but isn't overused. That's the kind of name I'm hoping to give my DC! We've got loads of ideas for a DD, but not many for a DS - and as we think it's going to be a DS at the moment that's a bit of an issue! We have a couple, and will really have to spend some time brainstorming over the next few days.

Jen, I know what you mean about pregnant forever. I've really enjoyed being pregnant, but I think now it's affecting my mobility so much and I'm in quite a lot of pain (back and skin at top of bump where it's overstretched/where I've been kicked so much) I'm enjoying it less! Still, keeping myself busy seems to be the way forward! The eating thing is weird - must be as Fluffy suggests the baby squishing your stomach? I've not had problems with eating, but huge problems with heartburn as a result of eating whenever the baby's been sitting really high. Is your bump quite high?

Smegs, can't imagine going off of chocolate, eek! I really fancy chocolate, nearly all of the time. Having very little of it in the house helps me though! Grin. My current snack of choice are crackers. I'm getting through them at an alarming rate. I'm sure it would be chocolate or biscuits if we had lots in the house, but thankfully we don't...

Feeling very pleased with how much I've achieved today - nearly all the baby stuff packed to take to the house today/tomorrow, study all packed up (with the exception of a couple of bits and pieces, but not much), and chores all done! Now going to knit until DH comes home, and maybe a spot of bell ringing and delivering baby stuff to the new house tonight. Keeping busy is the only way I can stop myself wondering when this baby will appear..

clickingtock · 02/05/2012 18:10

I love the name Autumn too. What's not to like? Grin

Apologies for airing an early days wibble but it's normal to feel quite a lot of twinges in the womble plus lower back ache at this early stage isn't it? I can't remember back to 3 years ago! I think it's probably my stomach more than anything else... may have been a few episodes of windy-pops at Tock Towers today. Blush

ScrambledSmegs · 02/05/2012 18:24

Fluff have just seen the dress you linked to - I bought that yesterday Shock Great minds and all that!

tock I think so - I seem to recall having twinges last time and being very worried, but it was all completely normal. I'm sure everything is fine. It's the curse of wanting these beans so badly, you imagine the worst possible scenario all the time. I'm brooking that all will be well for you and babytock.

musical ooh crackers, now I could go a cracker right now... Off to rummage in the cupboard!

musicalmrs · 02/05/2012 19:07

Tock, completely, yes. If you're really worried though, do get checked out or call NHS direct or something - better to be reassured!

Smegs, my favourites are choice grain, Tuc and Ritz, and cornish wafers! I don't add any salt to anything I cook, and I wonder if my desire for crackers is partly due to a need for some extra salt? Either way - I consider them relatively healthy in comparison to what I could be eating, so have been going a little mad with them Grin

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 19:37

clearly you have great taste, smegs Wink chocolate is the one and so far only thing that makes me barf, wonder what that's about? Currently chomping on hard sweets for my sugar fix!

tock I had that too, I even asked the GP about it when i went to get referred to the mw and he said it was normal.

DreamingOfPeace · 02/05/2012 19:50

Disappointed almost. I love May the 4th be with you- but, if it had been that 5/5 birthday would be cool, my DD was born 9/9/10 and DTs 4/4/12 :-) (can I count this as my synopsis tock? And that I am tired and grumpy and barely manage to post any more. That's me done :-) )

Chocolate, my dts are grown on chocolate and crisps, as about all my ms could tolerate Blush . I was sick from week 5-25, then week 35 til delivery... The drugs help a lot.

Forgotten the rest, flagging big time.

DreamingOfPeace · 02/05/2012 19:52

Oh yeah, I was actually meant to be extending my sympathies to those in the throws of ms. Grim grim grim... Chant away
