£200 Tiago? Shock

TheDetective · 25/04/2012 20:26

Hull, Leeds and Manchester Valium :)

Passmethecrisps · 25/04/2012 20:27

I've been investigating private scans. £69 at one place and £99 at the other.

Not sure - seems like it is a waste of money in some ways but in others I am tired of waiting.

On the plus side, I feel much better today. Fingers crossed that this is to stay.

Has anyone else noticed how tough their nails are now? I normally have weak, brittle nails but no more! Nice to have a benefit.

TheDetective · 25/04/2012 20:29

I wish I hadn't bothered with the NHS one, its just made me grumpy! Wish I'd just booked a private one straight off!

NEVER thought I would say that!

Passme My nails are looking great, but I suspect it is because I haven't done anything for almost 6 weeks!!

ValiumQueen · 25/04/2012 20:30

I will be having a gender scan at 16 weeks ish for £79 as my Trust does not disclose.

TheDetective · 25/04/2012 20:33

I'm having a gender scan at 16 weeks too Valium.

Impatient? Moi?!

My mum is going mad because she thinks we know the sex, and won't have it that we don't! She doesn't know that we will be finding out but keeping it secret. She'd do her bloody nut in if she found out! Not that she can say anything, she found out I was a girl and didn't even tell my dad!!

I can't believe that in 3 weeks and 3 days I could know the sex of this baby! Booking scan for around 19th May!!

Stuntnun · 25/04/2012 20:46

Oh yeah Shelley I see what you mean. I'm suffering terribly with baby brain, I can't cook anything properly because I keep forgetting what I'm doing.

OP posts:
applepieinthesky · 25/04/2012 20:58

Did I read ages ago that some of you have bought dopplers for listening to the baby's heartbeat? Are they easy enough to use?

TheDetective · 25/04/2012 21:04

I've added my scan pic to my profile. The only good bit as far as I can tell is that you can see its hand, fist clenched, with its thumb sticking out as if it has been sucking it!

Apple The midwife tried to pick the heartbeat up today at my request (as DP might not get to hear it again) and couldn't find it.

DonnaDoon · 25/04/2012 21:08

Awwww love your picture `s babba and your big soppy looking dog...bless...must put some pics up myself.

TheDetective · 25/04/2012 21:12

My dog is rather lovely isn't she! Just a shame she still smells like poison to me :(

applepieinthesky · 25/04/2012 21:14

Yeh that's my worry. If a midwife can't find it then what are my chances? Then I'll panic until my scan.

DonnaDoon · 25/04/2012 21:18

Apple thats why midwives dont recomend them , I could nt find heartbeat but didnt panic though.

horseylady · 25/04/2012 21:54

Detective I had to stop looking as I just kept laughing/crying at the baby!!! It was moving so much!! A shame you couldn't see there was a huge screen right in front of me on the wall!! Vellum they only take 6 under 2s so Im on the waiting list for next year (work nursery) the couple of other ones I've looked at seem to have more space!! Just so much cheaper using the work one!!

Tiago · 25/04/2012 21:58

I'd avoid a Doppler apple. I think not being able to find the HB would send me into a complete panic ad so am staying well away from them.

Told work 'officially' today, which was interesting as I am paranoid and spent the rest of the day wondering if I'd jinxed things... I wish this was my first ever PG and that I was ignorant of all potential problems :s. but all appears to be well, even though I think my boobs are starting to grow. This is a bad thing as they were a G cup to start!

horseylady · 25/04/2012 22:04

Vallium sorry phone changed it!! Auto correct!!

ValiumQueen · 26/04/2012 06:21

Horsey you are so lucky having a work nursery!

Scan today. Nervous. Daft really as this is my third kid!

horseylady · 26/04/2012 07:30

I know!!! That's why I so desperately want to get in!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/04/2012 07:37

detective I think your scan pic is quite clear! I can def make out the head/ hand etc.

My FIL and his wife want to buy dh and I a present for our wedding anniversary which is mid June, they were thinking theatre tickets but what I'd MUCH prefer would be a private gender scan because that would be perfect timing, they could even book it for a week or so earlier but how do I go about asking for it?!

tomatoplantproject · 26/04/2012 08:21

Good luck to all those having scans today.

I'm starting to get a little excited - told my manager yesterday who was really lovely, and now I have to tell our CEO. He's got 5 of his own and can be a real pussycat but I've only been there a year and I think -hope- he's going to be a bit disappointed.

I also went out with 2 of my girlfriends last night who both have kids, and that was great. I've only told family til now and they were both so happy for us and a bit teary which set me off. There's a big night out on Saturday when we will tell the rest of the world - no more big secrets Grin

jaylee89 · 26/04/2012 09:35

good morning ladies. im currently 11+5 today and still no scan date in sight and i have very strange fluttery feelings in my lower abdomen and feel very much like i can feel baby moving around alreadyyy!!! maybe my mind is playing tricks on me but can only feel it really strong after eating a little and having a cuppa! strange!!!

hopefully the postman will bring me my scan date todayyyyyyyy perrrrrleaseeee mr postmannnnn!!!!

good luck everyone having scansss!!!

TheDetective · 26/04/2012 09:44

Jaylee I'm sure I can feel mine too! Have felt it on/off for 2 weeks, only very gently, and if I'm busy I don't notice it. As soon as I lie in bed at night I can feel it rolling and flippping itself around! I could feel it moving during the scan yesterday, and the sonographer confirmed (as did DP!) that it was indeed flipping itself over and over! Crazy kid in there!

DH I'm just gutted as got a lovely one from DS 10 years ago, and you would of hoped for even better by now! But never mind, off to ring to book scan now!
Re: Gender scan, why don't you ask them if they want to know if its a girl/boy, and then say you were hoping for a private scan and go in to it that way maybe?!

TheDetective · 26/04/2012 09:45

Oh, and yes, I've been sick this morning. Soon as I got up. Same as yesterday.

That, I can deal with.

No more today please!

goldene · 26/04/2012 10:10

Detective, sorry about your sickness still. Mine is definitely ebbing, as is my tiredness. I've gone the past two days without a nap! Amazing and incredible.

I've felt movements as well, for a couple of weeks. Seems much too early, but they do feel like something moving, not gas or anything (in the wrong place for that anyway) Can't wait for scan - a little more than a week away now.

But I'm still STARVING. I've gained 6kg so far. I am going to be a blimp if this keeps up. Last time I gained 13kg total! Still I figure I'm hungry because baby needs food, I'm not about to ignore it. Right?

Elizadoesdolittle · 26/04/2012 10:11

detective sorry you had a bad experience at your scan but glad all was well with your baby. And congratulations on others who have had good scan results since I last posted.

everso thinking of you today. Hope the cvs isn't too uncomfortable for you. Good luck.

My DD has started waking up really early this week. We've had 6:15, 6:30 and 5:50 today! Although I did manage to settle her in my bed this morning so she slept with me from 6:30 to 8:00 but I can't make a habit out of that. I'm not sure what's wrong as she wakes up crying whereas she used to wake happily and play for a bit. I'm hoping it's a faze, I just keep thinking of how little sleep I'll get once baby no 2 arrives!

I'm getting really bored of this rain too. Have my scan on Monday and then off to Portugal at the end of the week so next week should be much better Smile

Good luck to the ladies that have scans today.
