Good luck for tomorrow Lolly

I've just been sick in the downstairs bathroom. Only the second time I've been sick, the first was at about 6 weeks. Now got to go and clean it up because it's only me here. DP would do it if he wasn't at work Sad Sad

I cooked myself a carbonara ready meal but the smell turns my stomach. How I'm going to be able to eat anything tonight I don't know.

LittleLolly · 22/04/2012 15:05

Oh applepie poor you. I didn't go out for a meal for my birthday for the same reason. Do the people you are going with know you are pregnant?

applepieinthesky · 22/04/2012 16:08

No nobody knows.

I'm so tired as well I don't think I have the energy to get ready. Fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours at lunch time and again an hour ago for half an hour. Still not eaten either.

LittleLolly · 22/04/2012 16:40

Do you have to go? If you had the flu, or D&V and felt so rough you would cancel wouldn't you? Can you not say you are ill and re arrange for a couple of weeks when you feel better?

Hope you feel better soon :(

Chunkychicken · 22/04/2012 16:45

You'll feel better if you eat Apple but the tough part is thinking of what you fancy to eat... What about some cheddar & biscuits? Quick, easy, quite bland & pretty good for you?

I do sympathise. I hate choosing meals at the mo. I was lucky that my 30th was during my (relatively) ms free pg with DD & my 33rd birthday will be 3rd trimester this time around.

Who is coming? Can you tell them if things start looking difficult? A few wise women might guess when you look a bit Envy, don't have more than a glass of Wine if you can stomach that much and avoid brie, pate, rare meat & so on!!

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2012 17:30

Chunky my DD was 2 yesterday too! I wish she was three and potty trained!

I went out for my birthday lunch, just me, DH and the kids, and it was lovely. I knew I could not cope with an evening event, so it was just lovely. I had steak and chips with peppercorn sauce. Fab. Kids were good as gold, and DH paid. Feel very blessed.

daisychain76 · 22/04/2012 19:51

Happy birthday valium and applepie and for yesterday DH and lovely news waiting.

Just cancelled all my plans for week and decided to leave the house as little as possible (the perk of working from home!) Sickness has been really bad this weekend plus I had the stress of my DS managing to swallow a pound coin and my DD developing an acute form of selective deafness and managing not to hear a word I've said for the last two days (things like don't eat jelly with your hands, don't step into that enormous puddle with canvas shoes on and so on!).

Hope everyone else has had good weekends.

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2012 21:21

Thank you daisy. Hope your boy is ok now. Did he have it removed or do you need to be waiting for it to pass? Ouch!

daisychain76 · 22/04/2012 21:29

Yep, we are waiting for it to pass through - should put him off ever doing that again!

ditsygem · 22/04/2012 21:36

Hey guys,
Just wanted to share my excitement for this weekend. I had been avoiding buying a doppler until after the scan as had read it wouldn't work until futher on in the pregnancy and didn't want to worry myself, but then came across ladies on a forum saying it had worked for them from 10 weeks etc so gave up on thurs and ordered one of amazon (with an expensive next day delivery because I am that impatient!) and with some practise and watching some youtube videos I found the heartbeat! so excited to hear our little ones little heart beating away - its magic!
Really reassuring as I havn't had an early scan, so its nice to know there is a baby in there and its all ok at the mo!
I'm 10+4 today, really hoping the sickness goes soon, I just want to fancy chocolate again! but some days are better then others so I guess thats an improvement. Hope you are all starting to feel better soon - I am going to try and get your fruit habits to rub off on me, and go and buy some tomorrow to see if I can decide to want it!

TheDetective · 22/04/2012 21:37

Happy birthday Apple sorry to hear you are feeling so awful :(

I had another good day today, I got the familiar pain in my stomach this morning while in the shower, and it had me on my hands and knees over the plug hole. For the first time ever, despite the hugely strong retches I was doing - nothing came up. Same thing happened when I walked in the door this evening.

Weird. But good. No vomits today. I made an awesome chilli tonight, and enjoyed every little bit of it! No major nausea today, little bits, but mostly feeling bloated!

Re: easing of the sickness - I think it was 10+5 when things started improving - have had set backs during the week, but it is definitely improving.

Donna No, surprisingly I was fine with it all!!! [shocked]

Daisy Oh dear, £1? Damn kids eh?! They do some strange stuff ;)

Chunkychicken · 22/04/2012 21:52

Have ended my vom free streak of a week with 2 voms, bad stomachs pains & few nasty trips to the loo :( Feeling marginally better now, but seeing as I'm 10wks tomorrow, it was clearly a week 9 reprieve. Weird.

I am seriously tempted to get a doppler too ditsy but don't think DH would go for it. Didn't have 1 for DD & I think he'd think it was wasteful & pointless.

Good news Waiting if I didn't say that already!

And weird Valium!! Wonder if we'll do it again this time huh?!! Grin I'm hoping for a week early as my birthday is 1st, DH's is 31st & DD's is 21st, so just need this one to be 11th & we've got a set!! Grin

LittleLolly · 22/04/2012 22:45

ditsy I bought a Doppler too, tried it for first time at 12 weeks and heard heartbeat on first attempt, it's so lovely to hear isn't it! Grin

chicken mine was only £19 on eBay including delivery. It was a brand new angelsounds one.

I am so excited to see baby tomorrow at the scan! :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/04/2012 07:13

Wow ditsy great you managed to find the hb so early.
My sister has a Doppler, she's waiting to get it back from a friend then she's going to let me borrow it yay!

I said I wasn't going to buy mat clothes til after the scan but I honestly need mat jeans/ trousers now. My jeans are done up with an elastic band, they're my only jeans that will get up my expanding thighs/ bum. So it's either that or leggings and I'm getting sick of those.

ValiumQueen · 23/04/2012 07:17

Chunky as far as I know I am due on 5th, but will be having a section so will hopefully be october. Hoping for halloween as I am guessing few would opt for a section on that date.

TheDetective · 23/04/2012 08:01

Definite improvements here today. Have flung myself out of bed and forced myself to have a 'normal' morning at normal pace to see how I get on. Not bad so far.

Going to GP later, to ask for one final weeks sick note. Will spend the week building myself up slowly to regular activity levels. I'm aware that pushing yourself back too quickly can cause relapses, and I refuse to have that happen. I'd rather take one more week and be sure I'll cope as opposed to hoping I'll cope!

I'm excited for my scan which is this week. Can't quite believe it has come around already!

Good luck to the ladies with scans today and this week! Hopefully it will be lots of lovely news! Wonder if anyone will out do Itala on the shock stakes?!! Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/04/2012 08:31

Hi all, hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Good luck to those with scans today and this week. Mine is a week today. Is anyone else really worried about their nt reading? I am very nervous about this. Perhaps it's cos I'm an older mum so in the riskier stage. Also my friend had a termination after discovering her baby had Edwards syndrome at her 12wk scan so it's on my mind all the time.

It hasn't helped that it seems pretty much all my friends know I'm pregnant now (did a very bad job of keeping it a secret when out on Saturday night). Obviously everyone very pleased and was nice to share the news, but now all I keep thinking is how many people I will have to text if everything isn't right at my scan. Ahhhh. I know I'm bring daft and just have to think positively. What will be will be and I don't have long to wait now. I have a good week lined up and a fun weekend so hopefully that will take my mind off things and help bring my scan date round quickly.

Sorry for miserable post! I'll give myself a good kick and remember that I am pregnant and will enjoy it Smile

horseylady · 23/04/2012 08:43

Yes enjoy it!!! I was sick this morning. I'd eaten and drank nothing so that was really pleasant!! I'm now in work trying to eat something. When does it stop?! I'm 12+4 now?! Feeling slight less exhasted now and I thought my sickness was fine till this morning?! Odd. Am ok now though!! Poor puppy dog was desperate for her breakfast and there was me head over sink unable to move!! Big dog nudged her away lol!! She's so brilliant!!

blonderthanred · 23/04/2012 09:04

Hi Eliza, I'm in the same boat as you, my scan's next Monday and as this is my first baby at 35, I feel like I'm almost guaranteed a problem. I guess the Daily Fail scaremongering has got to me even though I don't read the damn thing.

DH is a relentless optimist so I am trying to see things from his point of view and I am still excited and happy, it's just a niggling fear about what a bad result would mean in terms of the choices we'd have to make etc.

Hopefully none of us will have to face those choices and we will all have bouncing healthy November babies. Good luck to those scanning this week, look forward to hearing more about heartbeats, pictures and happy babies.

jaylee89 · 23/04/2012 09:31

well have had quite bad m/s since 6 weeks and today it has finally gone im 11+2 and it is worrying me? does it usually ease off around now???

someone please reasure me!!!!

good luck for everyone today having scans

ShellyBobbs · 23/04/2012 09:31

Sorry to hear that the vom feast is still on for some of you, I get occasional waves of it, but it's all but disappeared now.

Well I'm certainly getting bigger and it seems by the day! Even hubby commented last night on how pregnant I look now and he's really been walking on egg shells scared to death of saying the wrong thing (scary preg hormones he says Grin)

Detective I don't blame you having another week off, like you say, you have to build yourself up slowly and being in work feeling like shite, especially when you are dealing with people all day is awful.

I've now got a fridge full of mozzarella that I bought the other day and it seems that I just don't fancy it anymore Hmm Now seem to be eating tubs and tubs of potato salad, I stocked up yesterday.

Bought a load of maternity clothes off ebay yesterday, for what I payed in Mothercare last week for a pair of mat jeans, I got 3 pairs of trousers (one with tags) and 6 tops! Very chuffed. I've also decided on a pram on there although I won't be buying it until a few weeks before and was looking at the dopplers, hubby got very excited and was sat next to me shouting 'buy it, buy it', lol!

Good luck with scans, nice to see all those smiley faces :)

Stuntnun · 23/04/2012 09:45

Jaylee at 11+4 I even managed chocolate today (for breakfast naturally) so I think it's fine for the nausea to be easing off. With my first two pregnancies it was completely gone by 12 weeks.

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 23/04/2012 10:32

Well it's official - bar stretchy leggings - I no longer fit any of my trousers. Hence I have stolen DH's combats and jeans and am sporting some fashionable turn ups. God I need to get off this island and go maternity clothes shopping - there is literally nowhere up here that sells them!!!! I know I can do the internet but I want to try out different styles (above and below bump trews) to figure out which I like best in the flesh. Mr Amazon's changing rooms are shite Wink....

horseylady · 23/04/2012 10:38

Elizer and blonder I opted out the nt tests. I would refuse further tests regardless of the risk factors so I sawno point in having the tests in the first place and causing more stress. I hope your results are fine though!!

ValiumQueen · 23/04/2012 10:59

I also opted out of tests. If there was something really obvious on a scan then I would consider further exploration but it would have to be something pretty major to be seen I would think. My trust does not to NT and my risk would be high due to age alone I would think. I always thought I would never consider termination for abnormalities but having read a few threads recently I am not so sure as sometimes it is possibly kinder. I hope and pray that none of us have to face such choices x
