I'm up at stupid o'clock because I'm going on holiday!! Off to Gatwick I go!

I expect when I come back we'll have a new thread take care of yourselves Smile

Chloe55 · 14/05/2012 07:16

Welcome newbies and have fun spotty Smile

I'm envious of those of you craving healthy food Envy the little food I do consume is absolute crap, ie choc/crisps/takeaway etc, have forced the odd piece of fruit down but only because I know I have to. Am gaining weight since I have stopped physically puking but still feel nauseous-sour sweets are helping with this and boobs still hurt (this is one comforting sign that doesn't really bother me)

Hope you all have good Monday's

StrawberrytallCAKE · 14/05/2012 07:56

Bye spotty have a lovely time, I am Envy with post holiday blues, enjoy every second of it!

I'm calling the midwife today because I feel a bit stranded not having been booked in and at 11 weeks. No scan date yet either but I wonder if I can only do that once booked in?

Dd is back at nursery today Sad I may keep her off just to cuddle all day.

gilsbubbles · 14/05/2012 08:09

Constant nausea is getting me down, not managed to haul myself out of bed yet cause i feel worse when im walking around....guess ill be late for work :-(

nasara · 14/05/2012 09:28

Rooibos, I'm a teacher, only 2 days a week intervention teacher after returning to work after having dd, but I was a full time year 1 teacher before. It's tricky, isn't it. Well, you just have to leave it to your head. Have you told him/her yet?

Eeek, the McDonald's cravings have begun!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 14/05/2012 09:44

I completed the moonwalk in 7hours 50 minutes! very proud of myself especially as my team ended up a lot faster than me (thanks to tadpole) so I did the hardest 7 miles (miles 16-23) alone, so glad i pushed through it though. Don't even ache that much, just have inflamed joints as couldn't take ibuprofen like everybody else!

sorry to all those still feeling rubbish, my morning sickness appears to be confining itself to mornings now which is nice of it :)

Hope eeryone is well :)

FriendofDorothy · 14/05/2012 09:47

Well done Stacey. I did a 20km walk and ended up with really bad hips for a few days. I have never missed ibuprofen so much in my life.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 14/05/2012 10:47

Stacey and friend very impressive walking!!!

Took dd to nursery and there's an unconfirmed case of slapped cheek in the school attached to nursery, argh! I called mw and she told me to get a blood test today so I'm in at 12, there goes my morning of lounging in bed catching up with hollyoaks.

Clarella · 14/05/2012 11:03

Oh dear strawb, become a bit of an expert if you want any advice (still off because it's been at work), main thing is don't panic, its a bit of a waiting game with results, 60 to 75 people are immune. They take it very seriously at first as difficult to distinguish from rubella so may double check this too. I gave blood for rubella but the lab didn't bother testing as booking bloods were done the week before. The tricky thing is it has a max incubation of 21 days (can be less), and people are most infectious before any rash symptoms. Some don't even get symptoms. So the school are being cautious (wish mine was so thoughtful!) My results took 9 days after cross checking with booking bloods and I have a follow up test next week (about 3/4 weeks after the first). I'm not immune so work is a risk at mo.

I can tell you stats, risks, ins and outs etc if you wish as had to pull together to explain to work.

Just out of interest where about in the uk are you?

lauraloo09 · 14/05/2012 11:17

hiya guys and sorry for disappearing for the past 2 weeks my DD has been really unwell as has i so havent had time to do much at all. Ive been feeling lousey for the past couple of weeks, with constant headaches and sickness. I went to karate on friday night and only managed 50mins of a 2 hour class and i only done a warm up and kata so not even anything hard. Suppose 50mins exercise is better than nothing. I ended up with some brown discharge and pain so have been worrying about that too as well as a 4 day migraine, I was advised to take a week off work to relax but i have no staff in the office so Ive had to drag myself in today and i could cry i just want home (feeling sorry for mysefl). i think i may try and get a doc appointment to get a sick line for about a week.

Clarella · 14/05/2012 11:22

Hi rooibos! Congratulations and welcome!

I teach year 4 and 5 children with severe autism and feel similarly torn about leaving them in Nov if I keep them or a new class if I am given a new set in Sept. I've currently only got 5 and feel a huge sense of responsibility for them as they are a particularly sensitive, complicated and anxious group who can also have very complicated behaviour difficulties. As I'm off cos of this slapped cheek stuff I've felt terrible guilt but am increasingly thinking more of baby and also think that by Sept I will be more focussed on him/her and am already thinking of how transition will work in either scenario. It's schools' responsibility to ensure all is well too. You can't totally plan what will happen at this stage - complications might end up deciding for you - and I don't think you need to tell school till much nearer the time.

There's lots of pregnancy forums on the TES website so you may get a lot of info about reception maternity leave experiences there.

Clarella · 14/05/2012 11:23

So sorry to hear that lauraloo, sending hugs xx

NaomiRuth · 14/05/2012 12:23

Sorry to hear about everyone feeling unwell. I've got a lot of nausea but managing to eat small portions. Ginger nut biscuits are great!

Rang the hospital to check on scan date, as I have a busy period at work around that time. Managed to bring it forward to 15th June when I'll be 11+5, and avoiding my work meetings. It's 10.30am so boss might not be happy with me going in so late for a 'routine' doctors appointment, as my commute is an hour. Might take a half day holiday but then I don't want to use up the holiday. Hate this lying!!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 14/05/2012 13:05

Clarella I'm in Warwickshire. I went for the test, just one set of bloods taken and she said the results should be back by the end of the week. I had the rubella immunisation at school so hopefully should be ok with that one? I'm sahm so luckily don't have to worry about telling work but I am a bit concerned about whether I should be sending dd to nursery...

I did ask about having to have another set of blood taken but the healthcare assistant seemed to think that wouldn't be necessary, I think mw might tell me different on Friday though. Will you be having extra scans as you aren't immune or do you have to wait for the next results?

mwahmwah · 14/05/2012 13:30

Have had to bite the bullet and tell my boss. Nightmare! Ended up having to come home sick from work today, and wasn't going to lie about why. Not what I wanted at all at such an early stage of the pregnancy, but what a relief to stop tripping over eggshells at work. Going to the doc tomo, I don't remember feeling this bad in either preg before. Self pity party here. X

Clarella · 14/05/2012 13:52

Hi strawb, its a tricky area as it is in the general population, but as its a very common, mild, childhood illness, pregnant mums of infected children and pregnant childcare workers/teachers more at risk of infection (if not immune). Something like from 1/400 to 1% in general pop to a 30% chance for teachers etc and much higher for mums of infected children. I'm up north, just wondered.

Personally , I think there's no point keeping DD off really as you'd be keeping her off for weeks! - you say its unconfirmed? If it was going through the nursery it would be a little more of a worry but wait and see if you are immune or not. The lab will tell you whether to have more tests or not. Even if you caught it I think its roughly 25 - 30% chance of transmission to baby resulting in fetal hydrops which is treatable and a slightly (+9%) increased chance of mc before 20 weeks. I THINK if immune you don't need to worry but I'm not 100% sure. No need for scans unless baby infected, ive just got to make sure i keep aware at school and school add to my (todate) non existent risk assessment (considering members of staff do get very injured, even hospitalised you'd think they'd bother, moan, moan)

I've had to learn this by rote to both calm myself and also explain to school why I'd appreciate them keeping a good lookout till summer as i'll probably be back next Monday if there's no more cases! Thing is we're really hands on with the 5 children I teach, almost parent level, cuddles on demand if needed :) (though they're getting rather big!) They can be really snotty too.

I hope this helps and doesn't worry u more - I needed facts! xx

gilsbubbles · 14/05/2012 14:38

Mwahmwah.... im exactly the same, just told me boss and currently en-route home to go back to bed. in some ways its a relief

mwahmwah · 14/05/2012 15:25

Glad its not just me Gil. Hope a couple of hours in bed makes a difference for you x

Cookiesandcream06 · 14/05/2012 17:02

Hello everyone sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. Not nice.

I'll join the club, been put on antibiotics today am so run down I clearly have 0 immune system at the mo with all these bugs wearing me down. Got so impatient not knowing scan date (nearly 10 weeks) so phoned antenatal ward, & its not until the 6th June!! I'm 13 weeks then. Feels like forever, I really want to tell more people eg work and explain why I'm feeling so crappy, but now I feel like its such a long way away I should keep my mouth shut.

Sad

I am very much eating my body weight in food to attempt to lighten my spirits this evening..

livismum · 14/05/2012 17:24

Hi everyone! I'm only 7+2 so still lagging behind u all on the symptom and appointment front! Feel a bit bleugh, fighting it off with carbs (chocoholic still off chocolate!) so rather bloated! Got midwife next tues, picked up my pack and have to fill in as much as I can beforehand!
Told my 3 best friends today as I'm not sure when we will all be together for a while, they were discussing dieting and a hen do in the summer and I was rather quiet! All very excited we have been popping out a child every year between us for the last 9 years! Will have to start hiring out a hall for our get-togethers soon Smile

Mummycox · 14/05/2012 18:55

Evening ladies,

Hope you've had an alright day, hope the ms is easing, I have gone off ginger completely, love porridge and rich tea biscuits instead

Question for you, had booking in appointment today and asked mw why my tum is quite so big as i am defo showing at 10+6. She did a quick feel and said uterus is quite big, so could be twins. We had ivf and two embies were put back so not impossible trouble is the two scans we have had so far have shown one heartbeat and one fetus. When will we know for certain? Don't fancy waiting till 40 weeks for the answer Wink oh and yes first pregnancy.

Stay happy

mwahmwah · 14/05/2012 19:24

Mummycox... Gulp... :o

ellliebelle · 14/05/2012 20:12

not had chance to catch up on the thread but feeling very crampy tonight and i dont like it :(

CODwidow · 14/05/2012 20:19

ellie I felt like that two days ago but passed after that day and back to feeling tired with awful indigestion again! There's quite a bit of stretching that has to go on.

I'm just feeling like I've put on a stone in less than a week all on my tummy.

RooibosWithMilk · 14/05/2012 20:21

Thanks Clarella and nasara :)

I haven't told my head I'm pregnant yet but I think I will be telling her this week. She knew I might be pregnant because I had to tell her (before I found out I was) when we had slapped cheek in school a few weeks ago. Her response was to tell me not to get too close to the children (tricky as I work with 4 and 5 year olds...) and to be careful about washing my hands so I don't catch it.

Otherwise, I'm struggling with feeling really nauseous... good to hear I'm not the only one with very specific food requirements! I usually love sweets and chocolate but at the moment I'm all about savoury foods (and fizzy drinks for some reason). Chloe, like you I'm forcing myself to eat fruit even though it makes me feel a bit queasy because I know I need some healthiness!

livismum I think I'm 7+3 today. Got my first appointment next week too.
