Morning everyone

Hope all scans go ok. My 12 week one is on 1st May. Chosen not to have NT done, but am bit anxious cos 36 (and feel ancient atm).

Really liked the tip about boiled sweets - couldn't find any I liked so tried with treacle toffee instead and I swear it works, if only by taking my mind of feeling sick. Know I will regret it when I am like a beached whale in a couple of months!

My brother's fiancee has just asked me to be a bridesmaid at their wedding next May, which is really sweet, but have visions of my waddling behind her looking about 6 months preg still (I know no one will be looking at me, but even so!) Feels so strange to think that, all being well, will have another child by then

daisychain76 · 13/04/2012 10:51

Also wanted to ask, has anyone told their older DCs the news yet? I have been rubbish and let slip to parents and brother so now DH wants to tell his parents, which means DCs (who are 5 and 7) will be the last to know, when I had wanted them to be first. Also, they know I have been feeling sick a lot and don't want them worrying about it. Part of me feels like I should just tell DCs now, but only 9 weeks, so seems like tempting fate....

horseylady · 13/04/2012 10:55

It's my sisters wedding next august!! So this time next year I will be maid of honour dress shopping!! I have no energy today I have just s proper go at the majority of my work colleagues (mainly men!) to which I'm pretty sure they have now decided it's the 'wrong time of the month' lol. This time next week I'll be on a train!! Hopefully knowing all is ok with the small person growing inside me!!

Thechick · 13/04/2012 11:17

daisychain76 I told my immediate family and dhs family and close friends when I was about 4/5 weeks. I mc in Jan and I hadn't told my family at the time, just because I hadn't seen them, and it was really awful telling them about the pg and the mc at the same time. My ds is 13 and he kind of found out at about 5 weeks too.

DebussyHead · 13/04/2012 11:29

Hi everyone. I have been away for a week and way behind on this thread so have only had time to briefly skim read. So sorry to hear about some of the sad news. I hope all the up and coming scans bring some good news to come.

My scan is May 3rd when I will be 13+1. Still feels like ages away and will be very nervous beforehand. I would love to have a home birth but am just too frightened as my first delivery was pretty dramatic with near EMCS avoided in mins by ventouse working to get baby out and then baby unresponsive for few mins so I would feel safer in the hospital. Though I love the thought of tea and toast in my own bed! My hospital doesn't even do toast due to health and safety not allowing them toasters so I got a roll and butter. Not quite the same!

Still feeling Envy most of the time but hopefully that will go soon.

Good luck to all with scans coming up!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 13/04/2012 11:42

daisy my dating scan is May 1st as well :)

NervousAt20 · 13/04/2012 11:55

Morning all, had my scan and all I well Grin was amazing to see a very tiny baby like bean but it was amazing! They think I'm actually a week ahead of my dates so that's fine by me :) but said my 12 week one will be the confirmed dates but when I have it now I'll be just over 13 weeks! Got a little picture and I'm still amazed to think that it's inside me lol but thank you for all the good luck :) xxx

misslaughalot · 13/04/2012 11:58

Hi ladies, just returned for a few very relaxing days on a canal boat. Thought we'd be onto a new thread but glad there wasn't reams and reams to catch up on.

So sorry to read bad news for some. I'm also concerned over my lack of symptoms, all I can do is worry! My DP asked me if I keep forgetting we're pregnant, and I wanted to shout at him NO, I THINK ABOUT IT EVERY SECOND! I know it's different for him, and this is our first baby, but I just can't wait to
find out either way if everything is ok or not.

Tiago, Stuntnunand DH21 I also have my scan on the 11th, at 12.10. Fingers crossed its a day for good news, only 4 weeks to go hey!

Bimbledorf · 13/04/2012 11:58

eurgh I hate feeling sick!!!! so crap and I have put off and put off my self employed work for the last two weeks in the hopes that I might feel better and now I have 2 days to sort it so the stress is making me worse! argh - wish I could still pay myself if I didn't work!

Thinking of you all with scans today - hope all is good. Thanks

I still haven't heard from the midwife - I'm 9 weeks today - should I have done by now do you think?

Daisy - my children are 7 and 5 too and I have told them as I have been feeling so poorly but I have been able to explain why and they have been super cute looking after me bless them. Feel so bad as they are having a rubbish easter hols but they aren't complaining (yet). I don't think either of them comprehend how far away the baby actually is though. I did think about putting off telling them till the 12 week scan - but I had an early scan that looked ok so told them then.

Thanks for the voucher codes Brockle : ) I got some trousers - in dire need too - can't do any of mine up now!

Happy as little as possible MS day to everyone today.

misslaughalot · 13/04/2012 11:59

Nervous that's great news!

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2012 11:59

Very pleased for you nervous Smile

NervousAt20 · 13/04/2012 12:04

Thank you, she did say my uterus was abit to the left side and not in the centre but said its nothing to worry about and all should be fine

YellowWellies · 13/04/2012 12:08

Whoop whoop Nervous that's fab news. It's lovely that this thread is getting some good news! Bimble it depends where you live, in some of the busier parts of the UK some folks aren't getting booked in until their 12 week scan. I'm getting booked in next week at 9 weeks - but live in the arse end of nowhere so the midwives seem to have time on their hands! Give your GP a call if you are worried you've been forgotten?

Has everyone got nice plans for the weekend? We're off to a posh foodie night at one of our local restaurants, 7 courses, 7 different wines (harrrumph) - think it'll be pretty obvious to friends that I'm updiffed given I'm normally a wine monster and will be staring wistfully at the beautiful tipples whilst the sommelier describes how wonderful they are. Wonder if they serve Shloer....

On Saturday we get to pick up honeymoon tickets - whoop whoop! Counting down til sunshine and warmth Grin

GsyAutumn · 13/04/2012 12:17

daisy my children are 8 and 6, so pretty similar in age to yours. I haven't told them yet, but my scan is on Monday, so all being well I intend to tell them after that. Kind of thinking of couching it in terms of the fact that it is a very long way off yet, and some babies go straight to heaven instead of being born on earth to live with us (we lost my dad very suddenly last year, so they are pretty clued up on bereavement which I hope we won't need to deal with again, but I want to be prepared.....)

I'll let you know how things go with the scan, and with telling DS and DD!

Just had to confess the pg to a colleague at work - weekly catch up meeting and she said - are things ok, you've been a bit quiet. All came tumbling out and she said she had no idea, and is usually brilliant at spotting such things. Guess I am not as hideously fat and bulgy as my head keeps telling me.

Good news nervous - hope I can report similarly positive things on Monday afternoon :)

DebussyHead · 13/04/2012 12:44

I'm contemplating telling my boss today. Was going to wait for the 12 week scan but am so stressed about how work will react that I kind of want to rip off the band aid iyswim. Also am being asked to do a week of flying about the place in 2 weeks time meaning landing late in the evenings in diff European cities and I think i will really struggle with tiredness etc and I feel most sick in the evenings. But worried that this will be seen as a 'your pregnant and therefore cant do your job' type scenario by my boss.

Wish me luck, am dreading it!

spudmama · 13/04/2012 12:55

home from work with a migraine have slept all morning gonna take it easy for the rest of the day may even go back to bed....

Good to hear some good news on scans

I have a 5 year old and wont be telling him until we are happy with all our tests he has always wanted a sibling so just want to be sure

Stuntnun · 13/04/2012 13:37

My boys are 9 and 5 but I probably won't tell them until my scan at 14 weeks. Once they know then everybody knows! It's the childminder I'm worried about. It'll mean £600 less income a month for her and I don't know what kind of retainer she'll charge. She doesn't have any vacancies so the bean will have to go to a nursery instead of being with his brothers. It's all a bit of a quandary tbh I'm worried about how it will all work out.

Passmethecrisps · 13/04/2012 13:37

Hello all,

back in Blighty after ten days in France so this is the first time I have seen you on the big screen rather than on my phone - you all look lovely!

On the way back from the airport yesterday I had an incredible craving for Crusha milkshake - I don't like milk.

Anyway, DH unquestioningly purchased 2 pints of milk (unheard of in our house - single pints turn to cheese we use it so rarely) and was delighted to discover that Crusha is on special in Sainsbury's. Got stuck in - was delicious. This was followed by a craving for cereal - I must need calcium I reckon.

As per the discussion on telling people - we managed to get both sets of parents up to visit on Mother's day as I was just passed 6 weeks. They live hundreds of miles away so it was no mean feat. Well worth it though for them to be able to share excitement as this is first grandchild for both sets.

Back to work on Monday after a fortnight off - will be tough but I think it might be nice to think about something other that how the sausage is doing

goldene · 13/04/2012 13:45

Hi, new poster here.

My EDD is 13 November but I haven't had a proper scan yet. I have one daughter, aged four and a half, and I've had two miscarriages since her. I started late and am now 43!

I had no sickness at all to speak of with my daughter but I have been terribly exhausted and terribly ill with this one. I say terribly ill but it's all relative - I don't throw up easily (I've thrown up maybe once or twice since I've been an adult) - but extremely nauseated. I have been sleeping 10 hours and taking one or two naps a day. I had to sign off work for a week and it really should have been more - no concentration or energy at all. I don't see how people say you should keep up exercise - I can barely move around the house! I went in to get my bloods done and they say there is no thyroid, diabetes or anaemia problem. That's good I guess but not extremely helpful when struggling not to fall asleep at dinner.

My belly is also popping out - so much earlier than I think it should! I didn't show at all until the middle of the second trimester last time.

I'm convinced it's twins. But that's probably just paranoia. I suppose the good thing is that all the symptoms mean that the body is doing its thing and perhaps I'm less likely to miscarry this time round.

I've told my Mum and my Dad will be visiting next week and I suppose I'll have to tell him (he'll wonder what has happened to his energetic girl otherwise).

Thanks for letting me join your thread!

WaitingForMe · 13/04/2012 14:10

My stepsons are seven today and four and I'm desperate to tell them. Though they don't live with us all the time it's very different to keeping it a secret from the inlaws.

We've having an early scan a week tomorrow and will be telling them the weekend after.

Passmethecrisps · 13/04/2012 14:11

Hi Goldene
My EDD is 8th Nov so just before you.

I have no other children but I can completely identify with the nausea and tiredness. All I need to do is a load of washing and I am totally knackered.

Stuntnun · 13/04/2012 15:00

Welcome to the club Goldene hopefully all our nausea will get better over the next few weeks as we get into the second trimester.

shanelle5 · 13/04/2012 15:40

Hi all, lovey to read good scan news- so exciting! Well I caved in and booked the cheapest private one I could find for tomorrow (£70) Blush as at 10 weeks I have been feeling too impatient to hang on for the NT scan as that can be anything from 12- 14 weeks meaning I could have had another 4 weeks LONG wait and being older I just want to know everything is ok so far, not to mention the fact I seem huge so I need reassurance that its all the food ive been scoffing making me expand so rapidly and NOT the presence of twins Wink Im pretty sure im worrying for nothing but its hard isnt it, and reading the threads is wonderful sharing experiences but it can be a duel edge sword making you worry about things you may not have considered iyswim? Hope that doesnt offend anyone x
On another note, DP told my girls a few days ago as I was too chicken and so worried about it, I knew the older ones would NOT be amused and sure enough varying degrees of discontent from the 13 and 16 year olds but the younger, 9 year old seems "ok" They can be really hurtful and selfish kids cant they? I guess for a 16 year old girl, thinking of Mum DTD is enough to make her Envy and maybe in a few days/weeks they will get used to it and even start to look forward to the prospect. Still my Mother to go, Oh Gosh, thats another story... x

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/04/2012 15:54

nervous glad your scan went well that's great!

Found out today my best friend is preg! She'd been trying so I knew it was on the cards. She's 5 weeks behind me, it's her first dc.

Chunkychicken · 13/04/2012 18:30

Glad the scan went well nervous

Got my scan date as we got in tonight, 16th May when I'll be 13+2, so only just in time for the NT test, but at least I can relax a bit now with a date in mind. Plus its not a work day so that makes it easier!!

Much, much less sick today but think being out in the fresh air has helped. :)
