Do you mind if I join you? I've been reading through your posts the last few days but was too scared to add anything! Got my BFP on Monday night so it all feels a bit new and scary at the moment. EDD 30 November according to the calculator on the website.

WestWingCJ · 29/03/2012 19:30

Stuntnun - I haven't, but I think someone posted a link about symptoms for an ectopic on one of the threads. I'll have a flick through and see if I can find it.

Detective - are you ok?

Welcome newbies! Yay - the more the merrier! Congrats.

Kiwi - spotting is generally ok I think

GsyAutumn · 29/03/2012 19:34

stuntnun I think that paracetamol is ok - I have been suffering with killer neck pain all week and that's keeping me mildly sane....but I guess best advice is to get in touch with your doc - fingers crossed for you x

I tend to wear dresses mostly, so going to stick with them for as long as possible - I have a slightly left of normal style anyway, so hoping I can get away with it (even for the office job where I have kind of redefined office casual in my own way) Can't wait for my scan - I have my booking in appt now for 11 April, and the scan 16 April. Hopefully then I can relax a little bit. Until then I am just resigning myself to feeling fairly crappy and not really wanting to fully believe that this is for real.

And trying to get my head round the fact that this happened soooo much quicker than expected, and I have to get through my wedding, a possible house move and a possible new job (heard I am down to the last 2 this afternoon). Gah!!!! Dream job, but kind of thinking the sensible thing to do is actually stay put, given what is happening. What to do??!!!

Hope you are all ok, and that all the booking appts/scans etc bring us what we need to hear x

KMBatfink · 29/03/2012 19:36

I know what you mean GsyAutumn, I never expected it to happen so quickly, guess we are lucky. x

applepieinthesky · 29/03/2012 19:41

Funthatisfunny - yes we have the same EDD Smile

I hope paracetamol are ok - I took two yesterday because I felt like total crap and couldn't move from the sofa. I couldn't even sit up because I felt so sick.

Welcome newbies!!

applepieinthesky · 29/03/2012 19:41

detective - is everything ok??

daisychain76 · 29/03/2012 19:49

Hi kiwi5 and KMBatfink

applepieinthesky, fairly sure paracetamol is fine. Don't they recommed you take it for early labour pains.

I want to breastfeed - don't particularly enjoy it, but am convinced its a good thing if doable, and convenient. BF my two for over a year each. What I hated though was that after the first 5 or 6 months it seems to be viewed as a bit odd by some people at toddler groups and the like. Lots of "when they get a tooth, its a sign you should stop" type comments. Certainly never fed in public after then. Don't know if it was a bit of paranoia on my part, but I do think people see it as much more "acceptable" with a new born than with a slightly older one (probably down to that Little Britain sketch!)

GsyAutumn · 29/03/2012 20:06

daisychain I had to get a job when DD was 4 months cos my husband at the time left....But I wanted to keep her on my milk, so was expressing at work. I worked for a civil engineering company and the guys got too embarrassed even to go to the fridge as it would contain a neat row of expressed milk in bottles!

Hi to our latest arrivals, and hope all is ok detective? Right, I have delayed the packing for far too long. MUST get on with it and ensure that I pack enough stuff for me, DD and DS. Last time I went away I somehow managed to omit packing for DD and she had to wear the same clothes for 3 days Blush

funthatisfunny · 29/03/2012 20:06

hi kiwi and kmbatfink!

stuntnun I was recommended paracetomol by the doc for my cramping so must be ok. and I took it through my whole last pregnancy but thought maybe some rule had changed without my knowledge since then! I hope you are ok, if you are worried definitely ring the docs and get checked out won't you.

Ug daisy little britain is a right pain with the bitty stuff - makes BF past babydom feel freaky you're right. I couldn't BF DS out and about much past 5 months anyway as he would just want to sit up and take a look around all the time! hehe.

I have an hour all to myself so am off to watch OBEM with a nice cuppa tea and a piece of choccy cake! Am off work tomorrow so heading to the park for the sunshine to babysit DS while I chat with a friend and sunbathe hurrah!

funthatisfunny · 29/03/2012 20:07

gsy I am soooo impressed. My mum made me feel awkward having bottles of ebm in her fridge let alone a proper man environment! Go girl!

WaitingForMe · 29/03/2012 20:10

I think I know what you mean funthatisfunny. I'm still over the moon to be pregnant but I'm struggling with the exhaustion and nausea.

I also feel a bit of a fraud saying I'm self-employed as I'm doing nothing at the moment. Sunday to Tuesday I couldn't leave the sofa I felt so ill. Everything aches and I feel like I've got flu. Feel like such a wuss when the rest of you are doing you day jobs and raising the kids you already have Sad

Bryzoan · 29/03/2012 20:11

I had one a couple of yrs ago stuntnun - but it was diagnosed and treated before I got pain. You've more than likely just pulled something a bit - much easier in pregnancy - but I would see your Gp / midwife if you are worried to be sure.
Link to symptoms: www.ectopic.org.uk/index.php/patients/symptoms-and-diagnosis/symptoms-ectopic/

Stuntnun · 29/03/2012 20:20

Thanks Bryzoan, I think I might wait until tomorrow and then maybe phone the EPU if I'm still in pain. It's front and back now but just on the left side and I feel pretty nauseous as well which is weird because my MS is usually long gone by this time of day. I'm pretty close to the nearest A&E so I can get there quickly if anything changes. My mum (who's an ex-midwife and current health visitor) has recommended praying. Now that makes me worried!

PetiteRaleuse · 29/03/2012 20:20

I've been told that 3g of paracetamol over 24 hrs is fine. I'm planning to mix feed at first and then move over to ff. It's what ended up working with dd.

eversomuch · 29/03/2012 20:22

I'll definitely be BFing, unless something completely unforeseen stops me. DD just turned one and is still BFing, and I've been really pleased we've managed to carry on for so long. I did get a tin of emergency formula at the beginning because I was terrified I wasn't going to be producing enough milk for her, but we never had to resort to it. FX all goes just as well with DC2.

With pg1, I had some serious pain in the early days and was told to take paracetamol. I think it's pretty much the only painkiller you can take during pg -- considered totally safe, but do speak with your gp or mw if you're not sure.

GsyAutumn Oooh, exciting about the dream job, but can see why you're torn about whether or not to jump ship at this stage. I don't remember all the details about maternity leave from last time, but don't you need to be in a job for at least 6 months in order to claim SMP? Would that be a problem if you took the new job?

kiwi Hope everything is ok and your scan puts your mind at ease next week.

detective Hope you're ok, too. I'm feeling a bit meh off and on -- mostly just very tired, I think.

Was just looking around online at maternity clothes. Most of mine from pg1 are for winter, so I will need some summery things (fx we get a real summer this year. I missed most of last year's good weather because I was extremely sleep deprived with newborn DD). I'm 8wks today and haven't had to get the maternity jeans out yet -- I think I was in them by 10wks last time. LOL, I sort of fear that as soon as I put them on, everyone will know!

pinkapples · 29/03/2012 20:24

Wow there's loads on this thread I keep coming back to it and having to scroll way down! Grin

My scan is on the 11th gsy hopefully some good news for both of us...

A fine hello to the newbies (saying that I'm one of those only joined this afternoon)

And a very positive woohoo for all the BFPs did not think I would be writing on a thread like this GrinGrin hopefully this is as someone put it ''a sticky bean''

pipsicles · 29/03/2012 20:38

Evening all - marking my place! (can't believe we're on page three already - I've only been in work today!)

Welcome to the newbies and congratulations! We've all said it once, but it has to be said again...there are SO MANY of us! No wonder this thread moves at lightening speed!

Foof (I think?!) I'm in my maternity work trousers and have been for two weeks now! Blush - SO much more comfy! I too use a hairband to extend another pair, but they are quite distinctive and I felt that wearing the same trousers might raise more suspicions than maternity ones! The ironic thing is that I keep being complimented on how much weight I've lost - pah! If only they knew!!!

Re Bfing - I am really looking forward to it! :) I had a hell of a time with DS as I had mastitis SEVEN times, but still managed to go until he was 10 months, which I was pretty chuffed about. He had a tongue tie, which I spotted at birth, but stupid paediatrician said he was fine and stupid me not only believed him, but also told other people who spotted it that it was fine! Consequently, it was not treated until he was 17weeks old and my nipples were shredded to pieces :( I have vowed this time not to leave the hospital if this little bean has one until it has been treated, but am also thinking that I MUST be due a good run this time after my ordeal the first time?! I don't mean to put anyone off btw - I wish I knew more about it all! Yes, I went to BFing 'training', but not a scrap was mentioned of the dreaded mastitis, so when I first developed it, I just lay there doing nothing thinking I was going to die, so when it was finally treated, it took ages to go and needed two courses of antibiotics. If you are planning on BFing, then PLEASE do a little research (nearer the time of course!) about symptoms etc, because the sooner you can treat it, the quicker you recover and the less traumatic it is - treated promptly, antibiotics are not even necessary! All that said, I've tried every trick in the book, so if anyone needs any advice (and fingers crossed you don't!) then I'll happily share my secrets!

Sorry for the essay - this is my problem you see - I spend ages trying to catch up after being at work and then want to comment on everything. Sorry Blush

FoofFighter · 29/03/2012 20:41

Welcome to kiwi and KM :) congratulations to you both, wishing you healthy sticky pregnancies :) Thanks

Just to echo that paracetamol is perfectly safe in all stages of pregnancy.

I told my nan tonight, she just said "Oh" Sad mind you she thought I was too old when I was referred for IVF previously, and now I am 5 years older!!

OP posts:
TheDetective · 29/03/2012 20:43

Sorry ladies - was feeling sorry for myself. I haven't needed to go to gynae yet. I was struggling to eat this morning, vomiting more than usual. Nausea increased... I stopped the new medication, and feel a little better. Well, I'm not vomiting this evening.

Just trying to eat a baked potato. We shall see what happens!

Hi to our newbies sneaking in on the last November days!

And fun (I think it was you) no I am not thin at all! Size 16 -18 (18 for the boobs at the minute!) I was a 12-14 a year ago, but put weight on thanks to DP's cooking!! Hoping I won't put on any extra weight with this pregnancy. So far, there has been no weight gain, not even the boob weight! In fact, lost 1-2lb. Not all bad I suppose!

Still feeling 'meh' though. I think the excitement of being pregnant is wearing off, and the wait for something to 'happen' seems ages off. I know I am just being daft! I just don't like feeling rubbish. Makes me grumpy!

Anyone else unable to stand their dog at the minute? She is like a toxin to me right now. I can't have her near me, the smell makes me vomit straight away! I feel so bad, she was my bestest buddy before this... but she eats cat poo! I think it is this what is making me think she smells so bad!

Speaking of cats. My rescue kitten is all white, and she got herself covered in poo, and walked it all over the bath and bathroom today! I had to bath the poo off her and clean the bathroom. Stupid cat. And I didn't have any gloves to wear while doing it. Good job she doesn't go outside yet.

FoofFighter · 29/03/2012 20:45

If any of you would like to join our facebook group (private and nobody can see you are a member, it's hidden) to share scans pics and test pics and purchase pics, and then eventually baby pics! that you mightn't want to put on here as it's so public, then please send a PM to desperatehousewife21 on this thread and she'll sort you out :)

Don't worry we don't talk as much on there as on here! it's really just as a place to share private things.

spudmama · 29/03/2012 20:48

hello ladies, i have been loitering with intent for a week or so now can i join?? very nervous about even speaking about the pregnancy incase i jinx it due about 1st Nov i think.

Had a MMC in sept 10 and have one DS who is 5 this is a very wanted pregacy although a little unexpected thought i was never gonna happen (i'm 41).

As me an hubby are scared to speak about it in case of the jinxing thing i need somewhere to go where others understand.

FatimaLovesBread · 29/03/2012 20:49

Wow new thread, still need to catch up on the end of the last one.

I feel hideous today, had the usual nausea/throwing up whilst brushing teeth this morning as well as being ridiculously tired. Started with a chronic migraine at work, couldn't see properly out of my right eye for quite a bit so got a bit worried. Now still don't feel fantastic...constant nausea, still a bit headachey and just generally feeling Out of it Sad

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow, roll on twelve weeks Wink

misslaughalot · 29/03/2012 20:50

Ok, is anyone else trumping for England? I am SOOOO gassy at the moment! Really glad DP has just gone upstairs for a bath so I can let it out in private!

pipsicles · 29/03/2012 20:52

Congratulations spud! You must be about 9 weeks now? 3/4 of the way to the magical 12weeks!

FatimaLovesBread · 29/03/2012 20:53

pinkapples I just wanted to say I know how you feel re. worrying about misscarrying etc. this is my first pregnancy and is a result of IVF so as well as being sooo happy it's worked, I'm really paranoid about it going wrong.

I'm sure it'll be fine for both of us Smile
