fun I'm so so sorry. Fingers crossed you have a healthy pregnancy very soon.

Katuk - 14 weeks seems very late for a first scan. I would be looking at going somewhere for a private scan if it were me. My booking appointment is next friday so I will ask the midwife then if she knows roughly how long until my scan appointment comes through.

For the first time over the last couple of days I have actually started to enjoy my pregnancy Smile I have stopped stressing so much about things going wrong, what will be will be but the majority of pregnancies end with a healthy baby so that's what I keep reminding myself.

The nausea is still there but has died down quite a bit to a level where I can function and get up off the sofa. Hooray!! Also when I made my booking appointment it seemed so far off and now it's come round and it's next week. Hopefully a couple of weeks after that I should have a scan and then I can really start to look forward and plan things. Feeling very excited and happy all of a sudden Grin

TheDetective · 02/04/2012 22:26

Shitbag, and evilchild are names for mine so far. Blush

Finding it hard to relate to it as a baby right now, because it is making me feel so god damn awful.

However, I know this will pass, and I remember how I felt right at the start when I first found out. Judgement currently clouded!!

I refer you to my post in the first fred Grin on the very first page!

"I already know how loved this baby will be, and through the inevitable torturous first trimester, love and drugs (and my DP being an absolute saint) will get me through. I had terrible hyperemesis first time round - from 5 weeks 6 days til 22 weeks. So I am preparing myself for the worst. Better to be prepared than caught on the hop!"

All that stands out to me in there right now is DRRRRUUUUUUUUUUGS!

Tut. Stupid body.

blonderthanred · 02/04/2012 22:45

We've been calling it Emma-the-embryo (partly so we can talk about the pg without anyone knowing), or sometimes smudge. My brother insists on calling it Rodrigo.

ItalaItala · 02/04/2012 23:24

Mine is "zygote"

Stuntnun · 03/04/2012 06:01

I got up before 6 a.m. because I was starving hungry and couldn't sleep but then only managed to eat six Mini Eggs. Now I'm stuffed. Pregnancy makes no sense, I thought I would be eating more than this! Of course I could probably have selected a better breakfast but at ten to five I just couldn't be bothered!

wellieboots · 03/04/2012 06:10

So sorry fun, my last pg was a blighted ovum and it is just the most gutting feeling. Glad you are feeling positive about the future and lots of love to you, take care and hope next time comes quickly for you xx

DonnaDoon · 03/04/2012 06:43

hi soandso Im other direction just south of cov x

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/04/2012 07:02

I keep calling it 'gummi bear' because of this thread!

Not much to report here, still feeling exhausted all the time and sick/ bloated.

DebussyHead · 03/04/2012 07:20

So so sorry fun Sad. You have an amazing attitude to it all. Hope your sucky bean comes very soon for you.

This morning first morning of actually being sick until now just felt nauseous. Was sane with first pregnancy remember full blown vomitting starting week 9 and I'm 9w tomorrow. Grim.

Woken up to a blanket of snow!! Was having BBQs this time last week. WTF?!?!

Off to work now, have a great day ladies!

FoofFighter · 03/04/2012 07:29

Morning all, had a foot of snow practically snowed in! Was 23c this time last week, and hovering around 3am, loads of the local roads are closed, the snow gates are closed on the Cairngorms. Love how it looks though from my window, might have to dig out the camera and put a piccie up on fb group for you :)

Woke up at 5am for a pee and had to have a biscuit to keep me going till my breakfast Blush was starving, proper hunger pangs and everything!

OH has nicknamed it "Widget" (Star Wars baby Ewok) I don't call it anything really. It's not real yet. Didn't have nicknames for others anyway, just baby or bump.

pipsicles · 03/04/2012 08:02

Morning all! Snow?! I can't believe it! I reckon we're too far south to get any, but we're supposed to be travelling up to Liverpool tomorrow to visit the in-laws...

I can't quite decide what we're calling ours: Poppy, Poppet, or Poppin are the general themes right now, based on size when we found out. I remember deciding on Peawee for DS1 and it took ages to get used to calling him that and then I couldn't stop calling him that after he was born!

Feeling fine this morning (even dtd! Shock) which is nice and have my booking in appointment at 9am, which I'm looking forward to. DS developed chicken pox last night though :(, but I had it when I was 4, so should be fine.

My cm seems to have dried up too, although is still there when I wipe.

Have a good day all!

WaitingForMe · 03/04/2012 08:05

The Star Wars reference reminded me of my brother's girlfriends reaction when I was telling them about the knitted light sabres "but what if it's a girl?" Angry

I'm not one of the gender neutral nutters I promise but I hate gender stereotyping. My eldest DSS's favourite colour for years has been pink and I fully support that. I think kids should have all kinds of toys and do all kinds of activities. DSS is getting a pink Birthday cake next week but has a Star Wars bedroom.

Why on earth wouldn't I give a girl a light sabre? Or insist on a cake that my DSS wouldn't like as much? People are strange!

misslaughalot · 03/04/2012 08:33

Morning everyone, had a minor meltdown last night. I don't know what happened, I just suddenly started feeling overwhelming sadness and then cried and cried over my DP who couldn't do anything to help.

Went to bed at 9 as I just wanted to sleep and have it all better when I woke up. I am feeling better this morning but have no idea what happened. Is it just 'bloody hormones' as DP said?

7 weeks today...

KMBatfink · 03/04/2012 08:39

Morning everyone, had a terrible night last night, bad tummy (not MS other way, sorry if TMI), plus got a stinking cold and really sore throat that I was finding it hard to breathe when lying down. Had a bit of a meltdown in the middle of the night because I just wanted to take Night Nurse! Not gone into work today because I feel so rubbish. Is it normal to get such a bad tummy?

FoofFighter · 03/04/2012 08:51

missL, I've had this at least once a week, I can only assume it's hormones.

KM - a lot of us had dodgy tummies at the start but also remember that it's norovirus and flu season still so don't be quick to assume it's preg related, make sure you keep up your fluids :) and remember you are ssafe to take paracetamol, just watch some of the cold remedies as they have caffeine in.

Had a call from me this morning, booking app is next wed at 11. She said I should have had a long questionnaire to fill out in my preg folder but I couldn't see one. Only a 1 page form to fill out and the rest was the green notes the mw fills out.
Has other people had/ not had this questionnaire?

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/04/2012 08:58

From mw not me!

KMBatfink · 03/04/2012 09:07

Thanks Foof. Just trying to relax on the sofa with a big glass of water. Got my doctor's appt later to inform them I am pg so I will mention it then and see what they say.

nebbo · 03/04/2012 09:42

Hi girls,

Can I join your gang?

I'm 9 weeks along and due 5/11/12.
I had a dating scan on Saturday and am having ID twins. Before the scan I was really not thinking about being pregnant as I was so scared about a mc and I was just feeling so sick. Now that I know it's a viable pregnancy and twins I've just got so excited and so scared now of something going wrong.

Has anyone else gone from having really bad sickness one day and still a bit nauseous but a lot better the next. I'm wondering if it because last week when the sickness was bad all I could drink was carbonated drinks and I only ate cheese sandwiches. This week I'm eating much better and don't feel so bad.

Opinions?

I am going to have to invest in mat pants (and bigger knickers) very soon, it could just be fat but nothing is comfortable already!

NervousAt20 · 03/04/2012 10:26

Hey nebbo wow congratulation twins!!!! Congratulations Grin

nebbo · 03/04/2012 10:35

Thanks nervousat20,
How are you feeling? I just want to tell everyone now and have probably told more people than I should have.

How many weeks are you?

misslaughalot · 03/04/2012 10:38

Congrats nebbo, the thread's second set of twins! Did you have a private scan to check viability?

YellowWellies · 03/04/2012 11:04

Hey Fun you'll be missed on here - you're lovely! Hope you get some positive news next week. If not :( good luck with your PHD. I'm barely capable of conversation or reading a trashy pulp fiction novel (mmm Jack Reacher) at the mo' - so how epic are you doing a PHD?!!!!!

Nice to meet you Nebbo I'm an identical twin and I LOVE being one - wish I was having twins but scan said just one heartbeat.

Well I spoke too soon re the MS, am feeling proper nauseous - so I got some Twining's Lemon and Ginger tea to help, got home from the supermarket, put the kettle on really looking forward to it, was just about to take a sip when I notice the packet mentioned that the sodding stuff has lemongrass in it - which can cause birth defects and miscarriage. Way to go Twinings - how to lose out on the biggest market share for ginger tea :(

nebbo · 03/04/2012 11:07

Thanks miss laughalot,
Yes I did have it private. I've had a few friends have missed mc's or ectopics. I couldn't stand going to 12 weeks without knowing for sure that it's viable.
They were really nice and offered a free scan in 2 weeks to check that it's all continuing well. She did say that they are exactly the same size which was reassuring at this stage but now I just want to clear 12 weeks.

Are you finding that time is dragging waiting for these early weeks to pass.

misslaughalot · 03/04/2012 11:40

I had a mc in November and would love a private scan, just not sure if we can afford it. Another 5 weeks until my dating scan...soooooooo long! It's this horrible in-between period when I don't want to get too excited (but I am inside) and we haven't told anyone. Roll on May!
