Hello Everyone

I am feeling very new. New to mumsnet, new to forums in general and new to motherhood! I am 18+1 weeks pg (think that's right anyway - getting scatty) with my first baby. My due date is July the 25th. I'm already panicking about how I'm going to cope.... It is also driving me nuts that my hospital wont do my 18-20 week scan until week 23! I am dying to know if its a boy or a girl in there! does anyone else have to wait that long?

IamBlossom · 22/02/2006 14:42

Hi Entropy! You're due day before me. My scan isn't till 21 weeks, but it will fly, you watch.

jersey · 22/02/2006 14:46

HI entropy congrats. I will be 23 weeks at my scan! Getting impatient as well.

deblaca · 22/02/2006 15:46

welcome entropy

thanks HC

i have to agree with the food issue .... i just can't get enough of it, well that's not quite true - only certain types of food ie CAKES - normally i don't have a sweet tooth but since pg just love them - have been know to send DH to shops just to get me a big fat cream cake - mmmmm

besides the size i'm actually feeling v v well .... no (or little) alcohol, eating well (above withstanding) and pleanty of sleep and also USED to be a smoker so am actually feeling better and am probably healthier than before the pg .....

also the names, the names .... those i love he hates and vv ... what to do - hopefully we can agree on something before the due date

good luck ladies on all those waiting for their scans
xx

lilianna · 22/02/2006 16:50

hi girls. hope everyone is ok.
im 20 weeks today.

im glad i'm not the only one who cant stop eating, but it only affects me at night. I thought i was comfort eating as dp works nights but he stayed home the last few nights and i still kept eating- glad to know its coz of the pg.
Hello to any new-comers lately.

HumphreysCorner · 22/02/2006 17:57

Hi all

Welcome entropy and congratulations on your pregnancy ((xx))

Well, went looking for maternity clothes and found a gorgeous top in Debenhams maternity bit. Unfortunately, I am such a whale! I think you need to be size 6 before you get PG to be able to fit in those clothes. My legs and arms looked horrendous in the changing room-how on earth am I going to be able to wear a skirt in the summer without my legs chafing?????

tweeni-meant to say, are you going to join us properly as we don't know when you are due? ((xx))

Welcome entropy, I'm due 3 days after you and I'm also a first time mum.

Lilianna, know what you mean with the eating, my stomach is rumbling by about elevenses these days, even after a 'proper' breakfast

Also (tmi alert) I think I have found a contributing factor to my grumpiness: constipation Hadn't managed to go since the weekend and was feeling v uncomfortable. Been drinking loads of water and eating fruit, and achieved a (ahem) result earlier this evening. Blooming my a*!

AggiePanther · 22/02/2006 23:34

Welcome entropy
hi everyone else ...HC I'm 5ft 2" and I weigh about 12 stone too ...was about 10 and a half before I got pg so I've piled loads on already ...you are not alone

pinkdolly · 23/02/2006 11:15

Good morning ladies,

Hello to Entropy, same due date as me (i'm on my 3rd)
I have my next scan on 13 march which will make me 21 weeks.

Agalch- I think you have a perfect excuse for nappy brain. I'm sure your capacity to think straight decreases the more children you have. My brain is awful at the moment.

Welcome back Straightforward.

I cant stop eating either. I keep telling myself that I dont really need to be eating quite so much, but my stomach is ruling my head at the moment. I put on 3 stone with my first pg. Weighed myself 4 weeks ago and was 9st13 (start weight of 9st4). Been too scared to get on the scales since. But judging by the size of my bum (yes that's bum not bump!). I can assume that I have put on a bit since then. Trying to gather enough courage to bite the bullet and weigh myself again.

Hope you all have a good day!

AggiePanther · 23/02/2006 17:29

Pinkdolly ..I reckon you should just hide the scales...Ignorance is bliss IMO

Well ladies I have had appointment with osteopath, and now (at last) physio and consultant and they all agree ..I have symphysis pubis and sacro iliac joint dysfunction! They've given me a support belt advised me to rest but not be immobile (gentle pottering is best) and take painkillers 4 times a day ...physio will see me again on Monday..am really glad to finally have a name for this as I will get more help with the pain now and the mw will stop saying 'yes well ligaments do stretch in pregnancy' as though its normal to not be able to walk..Grrr!! . Got my scan on Monday too ..am very excited

deblaca · 23/02/2006 17:56

i know AP it always helps to know (and acknowledge) what the problem is at least now you can do something positive about it .......................
ohhhh exciting scan - lovely - good luck

pinkdolly · 23/02/2006 18:44

AggieP- Glad you got your diagnosis. Totally empathise with you, had SJD with my last pregnancy and feeling the strain a bit now.
The good news is that it should go away after baby is in your arms. If you start having difficulty around the house you can contact your local social services. They were great for me, got me loads of aids to help me out. One of the best was a gel support cushion for sitting on. It's surprising how much pain you can be in just sitting on your bottom, I used to take mine everywhere with me.
I hope your not in too much pain.

spub · 23/02/2006 19:06

Hey gals,
Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm off to Amsterdam tomorrow with 7 other women for a friend's 40th. Needless to say it was booked before I was pg!!!No one else is so guess who's gonna be the sober and sensible one?!
Pray for me!

Back Sunday and I'll check in then!

dangirl · 23/02/2006 19:58

Evening Ladies!

Feeling great at the moment

Had another cervical scan yesterday and length of cervix is stable so all is well! Not going back for another 3 weeks - to that particular clinic.
Will however go for regular 21 week check up incl baby scan next Wed. DH can't come which I am rather hmpf about... We already know we are having a boy though so no surprise at the scan.

Had a Spa day with SIL and MIL today. True pampering and it was SOO nice. Should be compulsery in pregnancy

Hope you are all well.

xxx

Cant believe it, there's a november thread!

kbaby · 23/02/2006 20:52

Hi all.
My headaches have finally stopped at last, but now Ive had tummy cramps all day today and the cramps are worse when I wee. Not sure if its a urine infection.

Iamblossom, Our old cat used to hover over the plug hole in the bath and pee. We also caught him using DD's potty and weeing in that. DH used to say that at least it wasnt on the floor that was until the cat decided to start pooing in the bath. The last thing you need in the morning.

morning everyone,
Was just going to bed at 9 last nite(not feeling good), and doorbell went. I immediatley thought something was wrong with dad, opened the door and it was DH with a big bunch of flowers. Wasn't expecting him home till saturday morning. So it really made my day! was so pleased.

AggieP- Bit of a discreet Q, Does your bitz hurt? With SJD and last pg pain was only in my back, but now the pain has started right in my saddle area. It can hurt so much that I walk like I've just had the baby (you know that walk when you've had stitches and it sooo sore).
It only seems to flare up if I walk down town (shouldn't have done that yesterday).

Have a good day girls, sending you hugs

jersey · 24/02/2006 08:45

HI everyone, at least you can get treatment now AG, good luck with the scan.

Can I ask has anyone else had dizzy, fainting spells? Had one last night at college and had to come home early, rather embarrassing. Didn't know if this is normal as not had this before or a hypertenison sympton.

IamBlossom · 24/02/2006 08:49

jersey I had that with my last pregnancy and get it mildly now. It's usually cos I have stood up to fast, not eaten recently or overdone things, or a combi of all three. Take it easy and eat regularly. xx

jersey · 24/02/2006 08:59

Thanks blossam think I had been overdoing it on very little sleep .

Was going to stay off work and rest today but managed to sleep last night so will see how I go.

HumphreysCorner · 24/02/2006 09:27

Morning ladies

How are we all today?

spub-hope you have a lovely weekend and don't do anything I wouldn't do . ((xx))

Aggie-I do hope it is not too painful. Good luck with your scan. ((xx))

kbaby-have you had your amnio results yet? Mine must have been over 4 weeks ago and not heard a thing. Perhaps no news is good news. ((xx))

You lot with your cats, Marmalade only has a tray in his bedroom if he stays in for the night. We shut the door as I can't stand him rattling his bell while washing for an hour at 3 in the morning before actually wanting to go out. At least when he is in his own room he gets up when we get up but he never uses his tray thank goodness. His room is going to be the new nursery so he will have to move-bless.

Potty training is suddenly going marvellously well. Not one accident yesterday afternoon. I just need her to do a poo on the potty, she can't quite grasp that one yet-2 stickers are on offer for a poo.

November thread

Must go as I need to watch out for that illusive poo!

Back soon.

Love and hugs to all.

(((xxx)))

HumphreysCorner · 24/02/2006 09:39

Too late-mummy I've done a poo.....in my pants but I'm not naughty.

Straightforward · 24/02/2006 10:45

Morning all

HC - how posh you must be that your cat has his own room!

Spub - have a great time in Amsterdam. They can't drink all the time (can they?!) and at least you'll get some nice lie-ins whilst they're sleeping off their hangovers!

AP - sorry about your SJD - ouch! - good luck with the scan!

Pinkdolly - I agree with AP - I don't own any scales and when I read you lot comparing how much weight you've put on etc I'm really glad I don't cos I know I'd be really tempted to find out! It's only a number... Chuck them out!!

I'm off for a MN meet-up this afternoon (first one) - little bit daunted but it made me wish that you lot were all close as I feel like I know you lots better! Perhaps we'll still do one one day?

Have a great weekend girlies xx
