Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We've talked vaguely about names, but part of my natural superstition means I want to wait until after the scan before seriously thinking about it. DH tends to favour v traditional (I think = dull) names whereas I'm a bit more of a flower child. Need to meet somewhere in the middle methinks!

maewest · 18/02/2006 21:05

and I would add that in RL I have a fairly unusal name, which although I initially reacted to when smaller (always wanted to be called Clare, my middle name, in games), I came to really appreciate it as I got older. I don't often have to use a surname to identify myself and have only actually met two other people with the name (altho am aware of a couple of others)

kbaby · 19/02/2006 10:46

bumpybel yes I still live there. I was shocked to actually think that from a smallish town there was another mumsnetter.

Im today as we went around my friends house last night and her 3 month DD is sleeping from 11pm until 7am. Its so unfair DD still wakes arghhh. This baby had better be a better sleeper or ill go crazy
Hope everyones having a good weekend.

kbaby · 19/02/2006 10:47

Its seems funny to me that all the aquanatal classes or yoga etc are all in the day when the majority of people are at work. Why cant places do them at the weekend/evenings.

agalch · 19/02/2006 14:11

Kbaby, are you not entitled to paid time off for clases etc which are to do with your pregnancy? I'm sure a mum i used to mind for was allowed time off for aqua natal and yoga, and also breastfeeding study days.Might be worth asking your midwife if you want to go to any classes.

bumpybel · 19/02/2006 19:56

Evening ladies! Have just done an hour revising and am logging on quickly before that programme about Tim whatshisface (from the apprentice) tells 'his story'!! I love the apprentice.. that and Life on Mars are the highlight of my telly week!

Kbaby... cant believe you live in the big cheese! I used to live Castleview. M and F IL's live in the centre and SIL still lives there. I still go back to the Indian there, as its so yummy!

Twisty... I'm getting really dry crackly lips and I think its a winter/ central heating thing as I too drink loads of water and it still persists! I have to carry round hundreds of lip balms as i'm dreadful for gnawing at them otherwise. Its got to the point where i've got lip balms in each room, the car, each handbag, etc.. the list goes on!

Kayzed, I've looked up yoga on the internet and they all seem miles away. Work will let me go to classes in the day if reasonable, but I can see them authorising me going for hours on end. Maybe i'm looking up the wrong sites. Might try and get a video to have a trial run!!

Maewest... am really intruigued as to your real name now!!!

IamBlossom · 19/02/2006 20:12

Evening Ladeez. Sorry i am not as thorough as to go back and attribute each comment to each name (god that must take you all hours!) but you know who you are so:

PMSL at the Tropical Squash wee!

PMSL at the sucking up of half the pool doing pelvics during aqua natal and then squirting chlorine for the rest of the day, HAHAHAHAHAH!

PMSL at Norman! Count yourself lucky, if my sister has a boy (she is due 5 days after me with her first) she HAS to call it Trevor John. No arguments or protestations, it is a family tradition of her boyfriend.

Whoever made Choc Brownies, gis one! YUM! I can't even IMAGINE where you would start to make such a heady concoction of delight, I must be the only 31 year old mother who has never made a cake/roast dinner/anything edible. Oh hang on, my "on toast" range is formidable and I can still "make" a mean findus crispy pancake, but DH does ALL the cooking in this house, and it works for me. Have just packed him off to the pub as he has made Bouef Bourgignon for tea, and it was DELISH!!!

Had a reasonable weekend, went out shopping all day yeterday with DS, bought a nice maternity dress for work in Blooming Marvellous, they have some nice clothes in there. Majorly peeved at the pouring rain all day today though, as it meant we were stuck in doors with a teething DS who was a trial to say the least. God I can't wait for this cold of his to go and his teeth to be through and the sun to come out but I guess by then I'll have another one to contend with. HELP!! Am I quite mad? Could do with a bath time with DS that didn't involve him screaming and crying all the way through, god it gets you down. I hate the feeling of releif that you get when he is in bed cos when he is himself he really is adorable, but jeez, he is hard work at the moment.

Anyhoo, sorry for ramble, thanks for all the posts girls, catch up with you soon. Is it really Monday already again tomorrow?

xxx

IamBlossom · 19/02/2006 20:14

Bumpybel I do exactly the same thing re lip balms, have one in every room and the car.

Oh and Jom, thanks for advice re piles, I will try and up my water intake, and am doing as much exercise as I can fit into my week, (which ain't as much as I'd like admittedly) have gained 8 pounds so far, is that average for 17+4 do you reckon?

Wallace · 19/02/2006 21:35

Anyone else felt movement, then had nothing for a whole week? I don't know whether I should be worried or not, but last Monday I had a lot of movement, and thought thta was the start of feeling the baby move all the time. But since then I have only felt a few movements, which I couldn't say for certain whether it was the baby or digestion.

You'd think I should be an expert by now seeing as this is my third

tweeni · 19/02/2006 23:56

i felt my first flutters etc at 12 weeks and then hardly nothing since then only a few slights movements and im 20+2 (+3 in about 4 mins!) should i have felt more movement by now?

maewest · 20/02/2006 07:46

I read somewhere that feeling movements depends on how the baby is lying - i.e. if arms and legs are towards your back, then you won't feel so much (also depends where the placenta is). I've noticed the odd flutter over the last week, but as this is my first baby I'm never exactly sure. Also I know during the day my mind is fairly well occupied by work, so not thinking about it so much = not noticing IYSWIM.

17+3 today by the way and it's my birthday!

Wallace · 20/02/2006 08:04

Happy Birthday

I'm sure it must be okay about the movement - you just can't help worry though!

I started this thread about whether your baby's heartbeat sounds like hoofbeats or a train, and if that means it is a girl or a boy.

Mine is a train!

jom · 20/02/2006 08:21

Happy Birthday Maewest, hope you're well and truly spoilt by all!

I've been feeling lots of movement ever since I wrote about not feeling any. DH was even able to feel it yesterday. Quite different to DS as no 'flutters' this time just straight into kick type movements. But it is also later than with DS. 19 weeks today!

Hardly got any sleep last night, my brain just wouldn't shut down. Hate that. And of course DS was up at 6! (normally 7 - 7.30)

Hi everyone, happy birthday maewest.

I feel movement then nothing for days and then another bit and I'm 18+3.

Spent the weekend emptying the back bedroom for DS to move into (were does all the stuff come from!!!). Bed and carpet on order and paint bought so have a deadline to get decorated before the 3rd Mar when the carpet comes.

Inbetween got very hormanal and sat on floor crying about not knowing what to do with everything after DH dissappeared for 2 hours and then expected it to be done when he returned . Men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help babysit my twin neices yesterday afternoon. So different personalities, one perfectly happy to watch the world go by, the other screamed all the time. Oh well get back in practice. (They are 5 months old).

I looked into yoga in preg to help with sciatica but all classes are full around me, guess walking should help, try to walk each day at the weekend to keep moving.

AggiePanther · 20/02/2006 10:04

Morning ladies ..got to rush today but just wanted to say Hi ...oh and Happy B'day to maewest!

OP posts:
maewest · 20/02/2006 15:11

Thanks for the birthday messages. My dad phoned me at work at 11.30 to wish me a happy birthday, as apparently this was the time I was born (family joke is - just in time for lunch!).

DH up early for work as usual, so he's cooking me dinner tonight and I get my presents & cards (yay!)

deblaca · 20/02/2006 16:32

i've always referred to him as him ... i;ve always felt it was a boy .... and we weren't supposed to be finding out the sex (its our first and my DH didn't want to know, although i was madly curious but also thought it would be a lovely surprise) ..... anyway my DH had the best seat in the house today and (at one point) was left in no doubt as to what the sex was .... so now we know but we're not going to tell family and friends

oh i'm soooooooo excited and happy

ps DH did the string test on me when HC wrote about it and it went around in a circle (for a girl - yeah?) so not so realiable in our case

Hi, I get the same re movements. A few some days and then nothing for a good couple of days. I cant wait until you feel them move all the time.

Bumpybel I love that Indian too, the staff are so nice and the food lovely.

DD's finally in bed now so peace and quiet although tmi alert she had a huge poo before bed and theres a bug going around so im hoping and praying that shes not got it, I dont fancy it much either.

heartinthecountry · 20/02/2006 20:43

Quick hello from me and Happy Birthday to maewest.

kayzed - coincidentally I was just looking on a site re: pregnancy yoga and it said on there that you are entitled to time off work to attend classes if you are in F/T employment. I think you might need to get your midwife to write a letter saying it is a good idea for you.

Don't want to tempt fate but I think the sickness has finally gone. Headaches have too. Can't say for sure if that is because of seeing the acupuncturist but their disappearance did coincide. Generally feeling better than I have in ages .

heartinthecountry · 20/02/2006 20:45

Oh I'm getting the on/off movements too. I guess it is still so small at the moment that it probably depends on where it is hanging out as to whether you can feel it.
