Here we go again.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jaggythistle · 17/04/2012 15:41

sorry for my super vagueness Blush

it's the one that says due next week, think it's slipped down baby names board a bit though!

scarletfingernail · 17/04/2012 16:19

Great news from me. I had a MW appt this morning which has confirmed that my LO has stayed head down since the ECV last week. Not only that, it has also started to engage. Only 4/5 at the moment, but I'm so relieved.

My RLT has been double bagged today, I've bought 2 more pineapples and perhaps dare start the Evening Primrose insertion this evening. I really want this baby out by the weekend if possible. I did want it tomorrow as I liked the 18th April as a date Grin, but I can't see it happening now.

Wants I've been thinking of you and your family. I really hope everything is going well for your nephew.

Oooooh Scarlet!!!! Exciting times! I think ds2 engaged maybe a day or 2 before I went into labour.....

Will keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow Grin

Oooh, exciting.....

musicalmrs · 17/04/2012 16:41

Anymore jelly plug news anywhere? (Biscuits, loved your comment yesterday - think it was yesterday at least!).

Scarlet, that's very exciting! :D

All this bag packing is very exciting! Mine's been packed for a while, due to the madness of potentially moving house making me very forgetful! I do need to migrate to a bigger bag though, as the one we were using is now too full. Tens machine arrived yesterday, so need to put that in!

Does anyone know where/if it's possible to get sachets/testers of lansinoh? I don't want to invest in a big tube in case I am allergic to it (they say I shouldn't be, but being v allergic to lanolin, I want to make sure before I spend money on lots!). I've had a look around various shops as and when I've been in them and remembered, but haven't seen any small quantities of it available to buy as of yet...

Sorry for still being a bit MIA - deadline for this film score is tomorrow so I'm frantically going back and forth with the directors on certain bits of it!

We have also just exchanged contracts on our house Grin. We move on 4th May! So if the LO could come either before or after that (due on 13th May) I'd appreciate it...

Have forgotten everything else I wanted to say - sorry - I'm sure it'll come back to me later..!

NinjaChipmunk · 17/04/2012 17:16

musical I don't know about testers but it might be worth contacting them directly to ask? Brilliant news on the house by the way, how exciting. Just make sure you don't exert yourself too much with the packing.
scarlet brilliant. I shall keep an eye peeled for your birth post in the next few days!
jaggy will pop over to the thread to see.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 17:19

Oh that's a good idea Ninja on the lanisnoh - I bet they'd help you out?

Failing that I have a tube that's about 3/4 used up that I'd happily part with if you want it? Just PM me if you want me to pop it in the post?

Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 17:19

Lansinoh even

Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 17:21

This is from their FAQ:

I am allergic to lanolin/wool, can I use Lansinoh HPA Lanolin? How is that possible?

That is a logical question as there is some confusion about this issue.
What is often considered an allergy to wool is actually a contact dermatitis that results from irritation from the wool fiber itself or dyes in the wool as they interact with the skin. Lanolin, on the other hand, is a by-product of wool washing ? the wool is washed and the raw wool grease undergoes a series of refinements that results in our ultra pure lanolin, which is an entirely different material than wool.

Lansinoh HPA® Lanolin for Breastfeeding Mothers was developed especially for breastfeeding mothers, and is refined by a patented process to remove impurities. There are many refinements of lanolin in the market and only Lansinoh has been proved to be completely safe for use by mother and baby. It is the only lanolin available that has had environmental impurities (including pesticide residues) and allergenic components (including detergent residues) filtered to an extremely low level or removed.

Additionally, Lansinoh HPA® Lanolin does not contain preservatives or additives of any kind (including BHT). People, who consider themselves allergic to wool and may have avoided Lanolin in the past, will be happy to know that they can use Lansinoh with confidence.

In the over 25 years that Lansinoh has been available, the company is not aware of a single documented case of an allergic reaction to Lansinoh Lanolin. However, that does not mean that someone somewhere could have a possible reaction. We would suggest that you apply Lansinoh on the inside of your forearm and cover it with a band-aid for 24 hours. After that time, check and see if there is any redness or itching. Obviously, if you have an unpleasant reaction before the 24 hours, discontinue any use of Lansinoh immediately.

Wants3 · 17/04/2012 17:24

Ooh, are we going to squeeze another birth onto this thread before it changes to part 10?!

Wants3 · 17/04/2012 17:28

No news btw, I think in the rush to go yesterday my sister probably didn't pick up her phone charger and it has run out of juice!

pommedechocolat · 17/04/2012 18:12

Musical - I am very allergic to lots of things with lanolin in them but fine with lansinoh although I forget to use it most of the time!

Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 20:10

Right, both boys in bed and I'm watching the start of Tree Fu Tom over and over to learn the words for DS1 Hmm

scarletfingernail · 17/04/2012 21:33

"Tree Fu Tom, join the fun....." I've successfully drowned out the rest. DS was trying to do the arm actions earlier, it was making me Grin.

Awful programme.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 21:35

DS loves it! Confused and it is preferable to Baby Friggin Jake (ergh!)

Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 21:36

And it lasts for 20 minutes when I need to abandon him to the care of CBeebies Blush

scarletfingernail · 17/04/2012 21:38

Yes Baby Jake is dire. Justin's House is my worst, I have to leave the room. Unfortunately it's DS's favourite.

I can happily watch Postman Pat and Tweenies though Grin

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 17/04/2012 21:49

Oh yes Justin's house is so not the place I want to be! Confused

Wants3 · 17/04/2012 22:00

DN has had another op on his head, doing ok. They Want to keep him in a bit longer before sending him home this time though!
All this tv talk is new to me, we didn't even have cbeebies when boys were small. Thomas, postman pat and fireman Sam were very different back in my day! I am looking forward to getting the brio train track out with all the Thomas engines though :)
I am sure my bump has got bigger since this morning and I just seem to be having bhs constantly. Every time DH gives me a hug I feel like crying and i have been having grumpy moments so my hormones are all over the place
( again)

musicalmrs · 17/04/2012 22:08

Ninja, that's a great idea, thanks! I have emailed them asking if they sell any smaller sizes anywhere that I can try before I spend lots on a tube!

Pomme, thanks! Good to hear from someone who has problems with lanolin, rather than just people who have problems with wool.

Biscuits, that's so sweet of you offering to send me a little bit of a tube - thank you! Will see what happens with the email first though :) I had read the bit in their FAQs you posted, but my allergy isn't wool related (well, that doesn't help, but that isn't so bad normally!) - it's the actual lanolin itself, in things such as E45 cream. I'm not doubting what they say, it's just quite pricey... but having heard what pomme's said maybe I'll jump in and buy a tube later this week if I don't hear back from the email I sent them.

Just did some deeper digging and found out that it's lanolin with the alcohol element removed - maybe that's the bit that normally causes the allergy? There apparently is still some "free lanolin alcohol" present in it in a very small amount, so I suppose it depends on precisely how sensitive I am.

Wants, still brooking for your DN. Another birth on this thread would have to creep in here quickly..! :)

musicalmrs · 18/04/2012 06:25

Sorry for the cross post last night Wants. Glad your DN is doing well, glad they'll be keeping him in for longer this time.

In terms of TV.. DH and I have being hoarding old children's tv shows Blush. I just think there's something so wrong with the new Thomas/Fireman Sam/Postman Pat etc! So we have a huge collections of the old faithfuls for our DC Grin. We're also looking forward to Brio! And Lego later on. And Duplo. I've got no gender stereotypes re children and their toys.. but they will have to have some of mine and DH's childhood favourites purely so we can play with them..!

My BH have also being ramping up - to the point where they were so strong a couple of nights ago that I was keeping an eye on the timings.

jaggythistle · 18/04/2012 06:47

seeing as DS2 was born this morning... we just went with the name. Shock

neverenoughsleeportea · 18/04/2012 07:00

neverenoughsleeportea · 18/04/2012 07:02

In my excitement I pressed post too soon.

If so then massive congratulations - marvellous news. Hope you give him a big sniff from all the brookers.

jaggythistle · 18/04/2012 07:39

neverenoughsleeportea · 18/04/2012 07:50
