Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

Hi all,

Not a lot of sleep from me either, feeling quite tired now but want to get some bits done before I get admitted at 5pm. No pains really just a few twinges but because waters have gone I have to go in and be induced today but really really hoping to start off naturally.

Mrs D, Thinking of you hon, I'm well scared about what it to come. Just think it will be all over soon and we will have our little babies in our arms.

Chloe- thinking of you too - told you we'd start together

Frizbetheexpansionset · 11/02/2006 09:55

Ixle, how horrid for you, hope he's a bit better today {{{{{Big Hugs}}}}}}

Chloe, good luck hon, maybe you have a baby by now

3k, good luck also, hope things kick off during the day for you today think they probably will.

Mrs D {{{Hugs}}} it is a bit lonely wandering around contracting by yourself at 1st, but once things get more speedy, the time flys (if that's any help at all) and your little one is worth it in the end in the meantime if your still about we're here to natter to!

Well girls nothing happening here, although I do still have 2 weeks to go....

Tabs · 11/02/2006 09:56

Don't be scared 3K (or anyone!). My best piece of advice is to focus on breathing out slowly through the contractions. Your body won't let you forget to breath in, and it really helped me to get through the pain.

Good luck all of you!

And oops Ixel . Perhaps u cd c it as a challenge to prove me wrong!

ixel · 11/02/2006 10:42

Its all happenning on here isn't it?!! Well Jasnem, it'll be me and you here till next month if not longer

Ds is a bit better thanks, but now he has conjunctivitis!

Jasnem · 11/02/2006 10:51

I have noticed that the post natal mums are still on this thread more than the post natal one still. (Hello Tabs and TicTac!), but I guess they'll desert us soon enough!

are you going to prove Tabs'prediction right then Ixel? I thought she had some inside info.

Oh no! I logged on expecting news of babies

Mrs D - The lonely side of things is why I plan on being online for a lot of my labour - everyone looks at me like I'm some freaky internet geek, but having been through a few births with other people like it, it really seems to a) take your mind of it, and b) make it much less lonely. For my friend's homebirth we spent most of the day in chat with about 20 other people - everyone dropping in and out as they had time, and everyone chatting amongst themselves as she disappeared for baths/contractions etc. Very strange day, but an incredible experience.... found out I was pregnant half way through that chat, and had to keep my mouth shut!!

Chloe - Hope things are going ok for you too.

Ixel - Sickness doesn't sound like fun It does make me appreciate DD's basic bed with stretchy sheets.... Although I think after the second bout of sickness I'd have just had towels and sheets loosely thrown over the bed, rather than properly remaking it (but I am just lazy .

3K - I knew that I have been getting obsessed about needing to buy a new ironing board for a reason! I have been muttering for days that we need an ironing board (normally recieving looks of "but you never iron", which really isn't the point!). I thought it was 48 hours after waters breaking - did they change it or is my memory shot?

Do we have any Hotmama news?

I was in bed by 10 last night, and have only just gotten up... DD woke when it was still dark this morning and announced that she needed a bottle and for Daddy to get up. She got banished to her room until the lights came on outside (sunlight )... and true to her word, she was back pretty much as soon as the sun was yelling "Daddy, lights on outdide! Daddy wake up!!!!!"... Daddy wasn't overly impressed, but since she clearly wanted him, I wasn't one to argue with him over him getting up .

No baby news here - all quiet aprt from lots of BH.

MrsDoolittle · 11/02/2006 11:45

still here flame. but feeling tired now

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2006 12:19

Oh honey It will be over soon... as far as I know no-one has been in labour forever! Just keep thinking about your teeny tiny baby, and all those teeny tiny nappies you get to play with soon.

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2006 13:56

So where is everyone today??? I know Jas is about, and Mrs D is very much in labour... assuming Chloe is too, and HM.

How's the rest of you getting on?

I am having a very quiet day... tis lovely.

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2006 14:01

Forgot 3K - assuming you are having baby too!

Thell · 11/02/2006 14:17

Hello - I am here too!
I still have lots to do before beanie arrives, like chop up a sheet for the Moses basket and mop the grim post-moving-house floors, but basically she is allowed to come if she wants - my pool and Tens machine both arrived this morning!! Yay!!
Still haven't seen one of the local midwives - have left regular messages at the community midwives' office, but no-one ever phones me back. DH is nervous about it, but I've told him that I don't care - I'll just phone them when I'm in labour and tell them I'm not shifting out of my house! After all, I did tell them about my intention to have a home birth when I was still only 34 / 35 weeks.
Of course no-one's actually told me which number I'm supposed to ring to contact a midwife on call, but I guess phoning the hospital switchboard will eventually get me somewhere!

Mrs D, I hope things are chugging along for you
And 3K I'm sending lots of pineapple-flavoured labour vibes your way

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2006 14:21

Yup, the deal here is to call my m/w mobile... if its off, then she's not on duty, so I call the hospital and they find out who is, and get them to call me/come to me.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 11/02/2006 14:25

3K have you kicked off yet??

Ixel, looks like, you, Jas, Flame, Helen and myself here till the end then!!

FS, will probably see you on here then, would be quite funny if we all kick off at night on the same day, all 5 of us could chat!
DD got up at 6am here too! straight into our room, daddy, daddy, daddy! lol she snuggled up with us until 7, then her and dh went downstairs, left me sleeping until 8.45, my dh just doesn't get lie in's are supposed to be until 10am gone!

Anyway off for a chill on the sofa, as have hardly felt bump all day, so gona check I get some movement (not that I've stopped yet myself either!)

Thell · 11/02/2006 14:27

A friend of mine, who is thinking of trying to conceive her second soon, asked me if she could borrow my birth pool if all goes to plan !

It felt a bit strange at first...probably because we're quite good friends, but haven't been for long enough to be really close. When I imagine older chums making the same request it doesn't feel as odd.
I tend not to be squeamish about bodily functions, so it took me by surprise!

Thell · 11/02/2006 14:29

Oi ! Don't forget me!!!
I'm not due til 28th with first baby!!
Will probably still be here mid-march

Frizbetheexpansionset · 11/02/2006 14:35

Thell your not forgotten! the more the merrier in my book

Thell · 11/02/2006 14:39

Have lost the will to unpack boxes !
When everyone else was trying to will themselves to nest, I was busting to but didn't have a house!
After a mad week of moving, building furniture and unpacking, I just can not be bothered anymore [sticks tongue out].
Maybe I can do those last few jobs between the early contractions,...
God, I am so lazy! Don't know how you guys with children already can do this!!

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2006 14:40

Disney is a great help.....

Thell · 11/02/2006 14:45

DH has caught horrid cold - was off work yesterday. I am pampering him as much as I can...want him to be well in time for baby, and to make him so grateful that he'll pamper me when the time comes!!

Jasnem · 11/02/2006 15:29

I'm back. So cross that I missed the last hour of excitementbefore Mrs D went into hospital!
Can we all share early labour please, it was a very emotional time.

I've got moaning DDs now because I won't take them out today.. I'm so lazy at the moment.
They were all worried after watching/listening to me scream at DP because he moaned about too many lights being left on . Over react? Moi?

All is calm again now, just reminded him that I am 39 weeks pregnant, and a little preoccupied with more important things.

I'm impressed that you managed the move at all Thell. If you leave the unpacking, maybe you can get all the new baby visitors to help out after you've had him.

Jasnem · 11/02/2006 15:30

her (sorry)

Thell · 11/02/2006 15:42

What a cunning idea!

Unfortunately, it's all the annoying bits and pieces and paperwork left to trawl through. DH can put the books on the new shelves after our handy man has been next week!

Chopping up sheets could be fun though,...

Have you seen Tabs' birth announcement? It's interesting to hear how the labour progressed - and Pippa is adorable
