Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

I tried that with dd2 ponyclubmum and it fizzed all over the place but she definitely wasn't a boy Smile

Welcome Dunnit Smile

TinkerMaloo · 14/03/2012 09:07

I tried the baking soda test too last week, it fizzed a bit but not much... im not sure i have much faith in this test though, wee just is acidic anyway, isnt it? surely it depends how concentrated it is and what you have eaten, rather than the gender of your baby?... Confused

welcome and good luck dunnit

when i fell pregnant with my first, my good friend had had years of trying and i was apprehensive about telling her, but she was over the moon for me, though admittedly jealous at how easy it was for me when she was waiting forever.

she did fall pregnant eventually though with the help of IVF and her longed for baby girl is 2 days older than my second DC :)

Just a tip for those who are starting to bust out of their clothes - Dorothy Perkins are doing buy one get one half price on all their maternity trousers plus if you use this code DPVOFFER20 its 20% off and delivery for £1 (until end of today). I just bought some denim shorts from there as we are going on holiday in 2.5 weeks..... Hooray!!

Macaroons · 14/03/2012 10:43

oikopolis I went to the GP yesterday and got prescribed some antibiotics (Amoxicillin), and I'm having paracetamol too (4 doses yesterday). Temperature this morning stayed up - 38.7C. I'm worried... may go to the GP again if this isn't getting any better by tomorrow...

welcome dunnit and good luck with your scan york

thanks for the shopping tips too but really not in the mood right now :(

pgreen · 14/03/2012 11:17

Oh my goodness I have had such backache for a couple of days now, just right of my tailbone. I'm 14+5 Is this a pregnancy thing or have I pulled something....? Can't lie down, can't sit up arghhh. I'm not really showing if you knew me you'd think my waist had thickened a little but no bump, seems early to be getting backache.....

Oh and has anyone had any success getting a non-wired bra that actually fits and isn't a nursing one? I've taken to wearing my sports bra some days...

pgreen · 14/03/2012 11:21

just seen whatevertheweather having the same

Whatevertheweather · 14/03/2012 11:34

pgreen yes! Ouch it's so sore starts in my buttock/hip and is tender to touch in that area and then I get pains going down my leg and into my knee. It's throbbing even when sat still and I am struggling with stairs and turning in bed. Glamorous! Sympathies that you are suffering too xx

pgreen · 14/03/2012 11:55

going to ask my mw about Coccyx pain when I see her. Seems an odd sort of pain to be related to pregnancy but everything else is odd too!

whatevertheweather if you find anything works let me know!

Whatevertheweather · 14/03/2012 11:59

Google pelvic girdle pain pgreen does that sound like yours?

pgreen · 14/03/2012 13:00

whatevertheweather might be pelvic girdle pain or uterosacral ligaments being stretched.... google knowledge though is a dangerous thing ;)

Ponyclubmum · 14/03/2012 13:05

pgreen, I made a special trip to a Bravissimo shop, to get some non-underwired bras. They were great, measured me WAY bigger than I normally wear, but the bras I bought fit great, and actually lift me up which I've never known an non-wired bra to manage before! I was wearing a 36D, they measured me at 32FF! I know my boobs have grown a bit, but I don't think by that much! Must just be their sizing, but it's working for me so I'm happy.

ballroomblitz · 14/03/2012 13:20

If it was me Macaroons I would ring the gp just to be on the safe side. No point in sitting worrying about it.

blondiep14 · 14/03/2012 13:31

Hello all!
Had my scan this morning. A very wriggly baby, not two as DH feared!
EDD moved to 18th so am a little further on than I thought.Smile

Turquoisecat · 14/03/2012 14:12

Hi all,

Can I join in? I'm Leicester, and EDD is 23/09.

I've been quiet on the forums (reading not writing) until my scan as I wanted to make sure everything was okay - the scan was yesterday, and everything looks fine, and sprout is looking normally sized (which with a short arse for a mum and a dad is a mini miracle!).

Generally doing ok - tired, nauseous (though this is getting a bit better), and my list of foods to avoid is growing, although I did have my first McD's for about 4 years yesterday!

ladygagoo thanks for the DP tip - tried to get some maternity wear yesterday, but Leicester is a desert for clothes if you're not an 80's-loving size 4 teenager!

oikopolis · 14/03/2012 14:26

Macaroons don't worry too much, the a-bs will kick in soon. you've been to the GP so you're on the right track. thinking of you. hope you feel loads better today.

oikopolis · 14/03/2012 14:27

call NHS Direct if you start to panic btw. they'll know whether you should go to hosp etc. or back to GP.

Great to hear good scan news.

blondiep14 · 14/03/2012 15:37

Snap then firstime!

Loup23 · 14/03/2012 15:50

Yay for good scan news and welcome turquoise.

I did an H&M trawl at lunchtime and bought some jeans and shirts (actually went for work stuff) Hmm. Was not an entirely pleasant experience trying to shoehorn myself in to the maternity "skinny" jeans Blush.

I am also suffering back pain although mine is right at the bottom almost in my bum and hurts when I sit. Have been going swimming in the hope that would help but doesn't seem to be - hope this doesn't continue for the next 24 odd weeks.....

Feel better soon macaroons poor you Sad

CluelessMama · 14/03/2012 17:06

Loup23, pgreen and whatevertheweather I've been suffering backache around coccyx/buttocks, very annoying! Seems to be worst in bed/when I've been sitting for a while...I get up and hobble like an old lady for the first few steps! Haven't had the pain down my leg whatever, you have my sympathy, that doesn't sound nice at all. Agree with comments above that I hadn't realised backache would be an issue this early in pregnancy (though I'm finding that with a lot of symptoms!) and agree that I hope it isn't here to stay!
Keep thinking first trimester symptoms might be passing then have a bad day that makes me think again. Felt exhausted, sick and headachey yesterday so was in bed from 7pm last night to 7am this morning, apart from repeatedly getting up to pee of course! It did me some good, just normal tired today instead of total exhaustion!
Scan on Monday is starting to feel closer...can't wait.

funchum8am · 14/03/2012 19:27

Hi all
So sorryto hear about all the back pain and antibiotic action!

I had my scan today, it was all fine, heartbeat seen (sadly didn't get to hear it), and the baby measuring right. They moved my due date forward one day to 20/9 is all. We are just ringing round family now!
I also told my team. I phrased it as "well we're overstaffed next year so I've arranged to go on maternity leave to ease the problem" so one colleague didn't think I was serious til I mentioned DH giving up work. Another (much younger) asked in front of everyone "So when are you going to tell your husband?". She turned out to be totally serious in thinking I had told everyone at work before him!

Very very happy, fingers crossed for us all to have happy healthy pregnancies from here on in (plus easy births...!)

Loopyhasanotherbean · 14/03/2012 19:27

i also had the pain in bottom of back/bum when pregnant with DS, just put up with it, but it didn't go after his birth. So not only was it really uncomfortable sitting on horrid hard plastic chairs at nct classes, and on chairs when eating out when pregnant (i actually took a seat cushion with me to our local chinese! and ended up sitting on a pillow at a friends BBQ as i was in agony) but it carried on afterwards. I'm fed up of "not making a fuss" - just put up with the spd as well, and i'm going to go over it all with the midwife and consultant in a couple of weeks. I can't rest up like i did in first pregnancy, a 16 month old puts paid to that, so i want the medical world to do whatever they can to ease things this time! Sorry to hear so many are feeling the same things though.

Good news re all the scans, may the good news continue!

oikopolis · 14/03/2012 19:41

am suffering with back pain and hip/thigh pain today too. really hope this passes. will not be able to cope if this is the start of SPD (am at risk of it).

nausea only just ended... now it's the next thing! sod's law

cazzabazza · 14/03/2012 20:51

Been lurking on this thread for weeks now, and am now happy to post that we had our scan yesterday, showing a healthy and very active little jelly bean, hooray! My EDD is 23/9.

Still struggling with tiredness and being sick every morning, ugh. And it doesn't help that both my DH and I have been struck down with a tummy bug too. On top of a seemingly never-ending cold, and having to cope with a busy and active little 11mo.

Back to work in 5 weeks after a year on mat leave, not sure they will be too happy about me being preggers again!
