rusulka babies r us have cream/white baby towels with animals on the hood that aren't pink or blue. I'm buying one too!

Whatevertheweather · 29/04/2012 12:51

I was going to suggest Babies R Us too Rusulka Mothercare also had them in yellow and green when I was pg with dd2. This is dd3 for me - am sure I didn't see any milk with dd1 until I was 37+ weeks then around 30+ with dd2 so definitely very very early for me. Bloody pain if it's carries on I'll have to crack out the breast pads can't be doing with keep checking for wet circles Blush

leelteloo · 29/04/2012 14:26

Mammas and papas had some lovely neutral towels, I love their stuff, if I had money I would buy all my baby stuff there.

MrsHelsBels74 · 29/04/2012 18:38

I had a dream last night that the bump was a boy & in my dream I was really disappointed. Now I'm worried that might happen in real life. Sad

WinkyWinkola · 29/04/2012 21:02

Well, I always feel a bit sad saying goodbye to the other gender when I find out which one it is. I shed a tear all for times for the girl/boy that never will be this time around.

I think it's natural because i. pregnancy is extremely hormonal, vulnerable time and ii. it's full of fantasies about the as yet abstract child that could be either boy or girl. Then you have to say goodbye to that.

And then you are so blardy busy/tired/happy when the baby's here, any disappointment or sadness just evaporates.

york67 · 29/04/2012 21:48

Great to hear all the lovely scan news. Mine still seems a long way off. Not till 16th May.
Has anyone on here who has had a csection previously noticed any discomfort whilst sneezing. My scar is 6 years old but it seems really tender right now.
Talking of dreamsi had a horrible one last night. I was being told I needed an xray. I questioned it as I was worried it would compromise baby. i was told my condition was already compromising baby.
Must be really anxious this time.

Whatevertheweather · 29/04/2012 22:17

I'm finding my c section scar really quite painful at times York but it is only 8 months old as had my section in August 2011. I've just been trying to rub it with lots of bio oil in the hope of keeping it as supple as possible. I've also found the numb area that was only about 2cms above the scar seems to be moving upwards.

ballroomblitz · 29/04/2012 23:17

york when I sneeze I seem to pull a muscle on my cs scar - mine is near 5 yr old - but it's been like that from the early days. I had been talking with a friend on her first pregnancy and she was complaining about pulling stomach muscles all the time so I just thought that's about where on your stomach you would pull it - or maybe because it's a bit weaker there. Wouldn't say tender at any time. Just have to try and get myself in a crouching forward position before the sneeze takes hold.

Talking of gender everyone seems to think I'm having a girl. Actually made a comment to dp about us having ready-made page boy and flower girl for our wedding and then stopped and wondered where the flower girl comment came from. Hopefully will find out in a week and a half.

twizzlestix my heartburn is killing me but I have a hiatus hernia and take strong prescription meds for it normally. Had to come off them obviously as they haven't been well tested during pregnancy. The gp said it's fine to take ranitidine as they have been used a lot with no problems to the baby during pregnancy. Didn't work so now trying me on omeprazole. Slightly less tested than ranitidine but have been that much he said he was comfortable giving me them. Have still been up swigging gaviscon the odd night but I can deal with it. Just something to bear in mind you can take certain stronger meds if your heartburn does get bad.

MadMonkeys · 30/04/2012 08:23

Morning all. Not posted for a while, but I've been reading the thread most days. I've got my 20 week scan later this morning, and I'm quite nervous about it. Assuming all is ok we would like to find out the sex if they can tell, although I have a very strong feeling that its a girl.

Sorry about all you guys with heartburn/hurty scars/leaking milk etc - the joys of pregnancy hey?! I'm not doing to bad at the moment - just tired, but I think that has as much to do with a lively 2yo as with pregnancy.

gingertessa · 30/04/2012 08:45

Good luck today MadMonkeys and to all the ladies having scans this week. My little Pip is moving a lot more now and DH felt him/her kick for the first time on Saturday, which was lovely because it was his birthday :) We're off on our "babymoon" today to the Carribean. I'm a little concerned about the DVT risk on a nearly 9 hour flight but I'm going to get some TED stockings at the airport and move around often as advised by the midwife. Have just started to get a bit of heartburn so have packed some Rennies - the joys of pregnancy, indeed!

rightontime · 30/04/2012 13:07

Sorry I can't remember who made what comments so can't reply to you personally Blush

Re: the milk, I am technically on baby #4, I don't think you will be able to do any squirting in the face until milk comes in 3 days after the birth TBH. Whatever having 2 pregnancies close together is maybe why you are experiencing it so early this time?

Re hooded towels: I have never liked them. They are always to small for my liking, the babies feet tend to stick out the bottom. I get some nice bath sized towels from debenhams or BHS and much prefer them. They last far longer too as baby wont outgrow them ever! (get plenty as they tend to get wee'd on quite frequently OME.)

Re CS scar: I don't find mine particularly tender as such. It is nearly 6 years old, but I have been pregnant twice since then. It may have been more tender during pregnancy no2 but I can't remember that far back! I do find that it is starting to get itchy in the last week or so though. Whatever My scar was numb for over a year after DS1 so I don't think numbness is anything to worry about.

Thali34 · 30/04/2012 13:33

Hope scans today and rest of this week go well!

I'm getting a bit of heartburn and finding gaviscon very good.

Any 'must-have advice' for pregnancy pillows before I buy one? Probably getting Dreamgenii otherwise. Seems to be popular, tho expensive!! :(

MediumOrchid · 30/04/2012 13:41

Hello everyone, would it be ok if I joined you? I'm currently 20+4, due on September 13th. I actually posted on the September thread ages ago when I had first found out, but then stopped Blush - I'm rubbish at keeping up with this sort of thread!

Anyway, I've been having a read and it is exciting to hear about all the boys and girls that are expected! We are having a surprise but I am really curious about which it is.

We had our 20 week scan on Friday and I now have to go back for 2 more scans! I have another scan tomorrow to check the baby's stomach. The sonographer said that it was too small but that this could be because the baby hadn't had a drink recently. As I was the last scan of the day he couldn't send me for a walk and check again. So I'm a bit worried about that but hopefully all will be well this time. Then I need another scan at 32 weeks as I have a low lying placenta and they need to check it has moved up and out of the way.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

NightmareWalking · 30/04/2012 13:54

Afternoon ladies, just checking in after a week's honeymoon in Ibiza, which was lovely and relaxing apart from the small bleed one night (not relaxing at all, that, at 1.40 in the morning in a country where you can only say hello & order chips. Oops) I felt definite movements on the plane on the way back & today the baby seems to disagree with being back at work as much as I do judging by the movements! (I'm 19 +5 today which I think is early to feel a first baby).

Next scan on Thursday, we are almost certainly going to find out the baby's sex then if they let us, just to cut down on some of the baby name disagreements!

Welcome MediumOrchard!

I certainly didn't have any milk come in until a few days after I had DS; hopefully I won't start leaking any time soon!

I agree with rightontime re the hooded towels; they always seem so small, I much prefer a good size bath towel...

Still not feeling much movement here, I also have an anterior placenta; I do feel baby turning occassionally, but nothing like the movements I felt with DS.

Winky I'm with you on feeling a little sad about the baby that never was when you find out the gender; this is likely my last pregnancy, so when we found out it's a girl I was overjoyed and a little sad that I would never have a baby boy again... silly?! Bloody hormones...

I am waiting for the heartburn to kick in, I had it terrible last time; had to carry gaviscon with me at all times.

Hope the scan went well Madmonkeys!

Welcome back MediumOrchid

MadMonkeys · 30/04/2012 19:40

Well the 20 week scan was lovely - everything is fine with the LO, and the sonographer was fantastic. He took ages to check everything and explain exactly what he was doing. LO had its legs crossed throughout the scan so he couldn't get a clear view, but he said it's more likely to be a girl than a boy from what he could see. He did kind of crossectional views of its bottom, and he couldn't see anything between its legs. So we'll have to choose a boys name as well a girl in case it is a boy. I have an anterior placenta too, which explains why the movements haven't felt very strong yet. I don't need any more scans now so the next time we see the LO, all being well, it will really be here...

DH got all our baby clothes down from the loft yesterday, so it's starting to seem more real now.

I actually liked hooded towels last time, but I seem to be in a minority there! They do seem rather expensive though unless you get them in the sale.

oikopolis · 30/04/2012 23:26

has anyone else started noticing piles???

or am i the only one?
three things:

  1. ouch
  2. OMG so embarrassing
  3. WHY ME????
Smallgreenone · 01/05/2012 09:35

Morning ladies just checking in with a 20 week scan update. Our baby is fine but does have slightly dilated kidneys so we have to have another scan at 34 weeks to check on how they're doing. The sonographer said it was nothing to worry about so am trying not to- anyone else ever had this? all other bits fine, heart brain etc.
Good luck to everyone else with scans this week
Xxx

Loopyhasanotherbean · 01/05/2012 14:05

smallgreenone i also post on a brookers pregnancy thread, and there is also a postnatal brookers one, and pretty sure there have been 2 recenty who have had kidney issues picked up on scans and i think both have now given birth and don't think there are any real problems with them

TinkerMaloo · 01/05/2012 14:44

I love hooded towels! and I have piles! and I need my maternity dungarees (ebay bargains) to hurry up and get here I cant wear maternity jeans anymore, they are all shit! They never stay up and they dig in when I sit down/bend down.

Aside from that, just :) Xx

Smallgreenone · 01/05/2012 18:30

Thanks loopy the sonographer did say that if it was serious she'd be sending me for another scan much sooner than 34 weeks. I'm going to try and forget about it, the measurements were in the upper range of normal so still normal in my eyes!!! Xxx

Whatevertheweather · 01/05/2012 19:07

Id 2nd what loopy said tinker I've known a few people whose babies have had slightly enlarged kidneys at 20 weeks and has always resolved itself by next scan. As you say if they were concerned you'd know about it.

Been to see my consultant today, she is very lovely and understanding. She has arranged fortnightly scans for me from now on just for reassurance. I thought it would be monthly until 30+ weeks but am definitely not going to argue!

Whatevertheweather · 01/05/2012 19:07

Sorry smallgreenone not tinker Blush

funchum8am · 01/05/2012 19:36

oikopolis I have had piles too (and not even just when pregnant) and while it's a bit gross (possible TMI alert) the best relief is definitely the suppositories rather than the cream!!! Lasts longer and seems to sort of cure the symptoms rather than just calming them, IME. Have tried several brands and all work fine.

I'm glad that experience may be useful to someone other than me as it wasn't gained through pleasure!

My scan is Thursday, anyone else on the same day? Not finding out gender so just about health and having a peek at baby.

WinterMymble · 02/05/2012 05:05

Hi all! Wow... I was he at the start but am only just scrambling back online properly now. Hi everyone! I have gleefully skimmed the recen oages and it is great ro hear all the good news.

I am week 22 today exactly apparently, with a little girl :) i am due 5 september.(Miss coffee -- i likeyour peachypink angle.... I am also less than enthused about pink and all that seems to go with it!)

Gingertessa, Twizzle, rusulka, flipflop - I have anterior placenta too, and it does seem to make feeling movement a lot harder.. I only just started feeling things yeaterday ... Amazing feeling... But it is still quite subtle for me. Feels like something shifting position, like furniture sliding :) ... Can't really make out kicks yet! How are yours doing?

I have SPD and have had it since week eleven which is apparently quite early... Cant walk up stairs and have to keep legs together all ladylike in a range of improbable circumstances! But following those guidelines does seem to help resuce the pain quite markedly, so finges crossed it doesnt get worse.

Funchum, i have also been worried about lack of very visible bump... I made a post about it on pregnancy a while ago. I am still quite stealthy allarently, but it is starting o creep out now! Someone on that thread said we would be grateful later on if we didnt get as big as is possible, so maybe that is some comfort!

I didnt tell work until week twenty and even now am now really announcing it to all and sundry at work, though my friends and family know. I am still small bumpwise enough to get away with it but i think not for much longer!!

thali and keeleteloo - i have been pretty worried about fiod poisoning/toxo etc too... I wasnt worried about eating perfectly for the first few months, because i was frankly a bit clueless and didnt realise one had to be sk careful, and then suddenly realised how long the list was of things to avoid, and got all neurotic! Will be a relief not to have to worry about that so much once breastfeeding is over....

Anyway, it is lovely to hear how everyone is doing. Good wishes to all!
