What a day Too!

I've uploaded my first bump picture

pommedechocolat · 18/03/2012 20:04

jaggy - Your ds is adorable. Good bump too!
jen - I can't believe you're 31 weeks now, I remember when you joined. Good bump you're growing too!
dream - Umm, how are you holding that bump up??! And, yuck on your drains you poor thing!
Too - i am getting slightly outraged on your behalf. 10 mins max on each boob?! Brain damage from jaundice?! Grump on your behalf!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 18/03/2012 20:50

Biscuits, have you got another weigh-in tomorrow? Brooking for a nice positive weight gain! Is E still not feeding very often?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 18/03/2012 20:53

Oooh, nice bump, Jen!

Dream, I meant to sympathise about the drains - yuck! I had that a few months back - poo and toilet paper seeping onto the path, ick. Luckily a bit of rodding in the holding chamber cleared it, because the landlord has no idea where the actual tank is. Hmm

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 18/03/2012 21:09

Dream yuk yuk yuk about the drains! How frustrating. No Brooking that it all gets cleared up sharpish tomorrow morning! Also, sorry to hear you're having period pains, but at the same time thanks for telling me! :) I hope that doesn't come off as too selfish, obvoiusly I'm No Brooking that your pain will vanish asap!

Too what a stressful morning! It's wonderful that Maia's fine and doesn't need more aggressive treatment though. I feel so sorry for that guy in the waiting room. Hospitals terrify me because they represent the best and the worst moments of so many people's lives on a daily basis!

Jen that's a very neat bump you have there! All of you ladies have so many pics up now I can barely keep up! Personally I've been staying well away from cameras and I don't believe there is a single pic in existence of my bump. I'm rather hoping to keep it that way right through until the birth, and then in future years I can create a rose-tinted heavily edited version of my pg memories, and forget the horrendous reality!

Helllllooooooo everyone.

Happy Mothers' Day - Thanks and Brew all round xx

Now, let me see what I can remember......

Scream / Dream sorry to hear about your various aches / period pains etc. for me, BH came as a band across level with my belly button and made everything feel tight. My contractions when they happened were much lower down and, well, dare I say it, period pain ish..... I think both of you need to keep a watch out especially with your family history Scream and just the twinny-ness in your case Dream!

Has twin 2 been more wriggly Dream or are you still going to go in for monitoring?

When is your 36 week appt Scream - I am of course brooking no argument that your fibroids are currently packing up for their move out of the CS zone Smile

And Dream - Bleh for the blockage - hoe that gets sorted ASAP for you all xx

Too we do have our next weigh in tomorrow - is yours tomorrow too? E has been feeding loads more today - I think he's revising for his weigh-in!!! Longer feeds (well a bit) and more often - in fact he managed a feed at 6:30, 7:30, 8:39 and 9:00 this evening! I was beginning to think I'd be just a shrivelled up prune but he's finally gone off to sleep without trying to latch on to anything in sight.

I do love his little pirate 'I want to latch on to something' face that he does though when he's hungry Smile

Will look at all the bump photos when I can get on the computer xx

Biscuitsandtea · 18/03/2012 22:02

Oh and Too sorry they're giving you such conflicting things about the jaundice. You perhaps said but do you have to go back for more blood tests? When are they? We had this with ds1 (except he did need the light treatment) but you'll get there. Hopefully the BR count thing will becoming down lovely next time Maia is checked xx

jaggythistle · 18/03/2012 22:07

hiya biscuits.

glad to hear wee E is feeding away happily. it's a bit kind of constant at first(once they get going) as i recall ...

my phone can't do profile pics either so will have to look at Jen's tomorrow. I'll have to leave mine up all night as well, hope no one i know in RL is randomly checking profiles.
night night.

scarletfingernail · 18/03/2012 22:26

Happy Mothers Day everyone Thanks

DH and I had a lovely evening out last night, just what we needed. We've bickered more during this pregnancy than in the rest of our entire relationship. Mostly it's down to me feeling tired and niggly and I'm horrible to him most days just lately. DH is not the arguing type and he normally diffuses arguments before they really start, but I've pushed him so far lately Sad

dream Yuk! You have my sympathies. We had the same problem here several times. It almost ended up a monthly occurence and we ended up having all the drains replaced. That was 6 years ago now and no problems since. I hope yours isn't as big a job as that though. Lovely bump pic, you look fantastic!

Aw Jaggy your DS is so cute. I'd love to put one of my DS but I'm too chicken. Another lovely bump too.

And yours is also a great bump jen. I must get round to updating my pic.

Too Sorry you've had such a frightening day. What a relief though that DD is ok.

All the new mummies, I hope the feeding is going well this evening. I think you're all doing fantastic.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 18/03/2012 22:48

Biscuits my 36 week scan is Mon 2nd Apr, and the follow up consultant appt (and hopefully cs booking in date!) is Wed 4th. So I need the fibroids to shift before the scan, and I need to not go into labour before the 4th Apr!!

So glad to hear little E is feeding well today. Love the idea of him cramming in advance of his weight test Wink Sounds like you're really doing an amazing job with him. Hope you're feeling better as well, esp in the undercarriage dept!

Scarlet I am so with you on the arguing front! It seems impossible for DH and I to get through an entire day without arguing anymore! We now alternate between being super nice to each other to make up for the last argument, and then sparking off another pointless fight! I'm hoping the fighting will vanish with the SPD

pommedechocolat · 19/03/2012 08:33

Abbie fed every one and a half to two hours last night (at three weeks with good weight gain will someone tell her she doesn't need to please?!) and dd got up at 5.45, will sleep ever come??

purple - another very important question about bf. When does the weight loss kick in??? With dd I was back at pre pg weight by this point and this time despite feeding LOADS more am still a stone over what I was. Do you think it's the whole cakes Im eating maybe??? :)

PopcornMouseInBoots · 19/03/2012 10:49

Wow, mega loads of posts - not sure I'm going to be able to catch up with all you chatter boxes :o but will mark my place and leave you some cookies and schloer :)

cakes82 · 19/03/2012 11:21

Fed up here. Even though I know it can't be helped but my mw had to cancel my booking in appt today I guess I was looking forward to being mw endorsed. New appt Thursday.

Wondered if someone could help me, I've been looking at baby sleeping bags and they don't seem to be recommended straight from birth, so what am I suppose to put baby to sleep in until it can go in a sleeping bag?

PopcornMouseInBoots · 19/03/2012 11:25

Oh cakes :( If it's any consolation, mine was terrifically boring - an entire hour of form filling in, basically.

I've just had a call - my 12w scan is next Tuesday, yay! Equal parts excited and terrified :)

cakes82 · 19/03/2012 11:58

Brilliant Pop you'll be so happy to see your little baby and its beating heart!! My 12w scan is this Fri so two appts in two days lol. :o

jaggythistle · 19/03/2012 12:18

cakes the sleeping bag thing seems to depend on weight. if dc2 is big enough I'm planning to go straight to bags. i have mothercare and grobag ones and they have different minimum weights. think the mothercare ones are from 7lb something.

i also had some crib sized sheets and cellular blankets, but i love the sleeping bags! DS was in them till he got his bed at Christmas when he was 2.3.

i found grobags the best, they're a bit more expensive, it's worth hunting for good prices though. often the 'last season's' designs are much cheaper.

hope time passes quickly till your rearranged appointment!

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 12:22

Yay for a scan date Pop - very exciting!

Boo for a cancelled mw appt Cake but not too long until Thursday - hope it comes round soon.

pomme - E and A must have got the same memo that said something like there was a world shortage of breast milk coming? He has also been feeding all the time. And he doesn't seem 'full up' when he finishes - do thy have a growth sort at 10 days or anything?

We're waiting for the mw to come for the Big Weigh In Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 12:29

Oh yes - and grobags - as Jaggy says it depends on weight I think. I think ours are ok from 7lb 10 or something. E was 7lb 12 when weighed on Tuesday but I wanted to make sure he was heading upwards with his weight so if he's got his birth weight back today we'll be gro-bagging it tonight Smile

So far though we have been using a double layer of blankets over him just tucked under. We did swaddle for a couple of days but the mw said that they don't recommend swaddling with arms tucked in in case they roll over so we just use the blankets tucked in now because it was too hard to swaddle with arms out.

pommedechocolat · 19/03/2012 12:41

We're doing the same as biscuits here and I like using boring old cellular blankets for sleep.

Seriously brooking babies chill out about the boob milk! We know it's good Grin but there's plenty of time to drink it in! I feel like we've finished the two week growth spurt and gone straight into the three week one over here. Dd1 on the other hand had one spoonful of yoghurt for lunch.

Good luck for the weigh in Ethan!

jaggythistle · 19/03/2012 13:02

pretty sure 10 days is a popular growth spurt time.

i think it was the 3 week one that made me cry, but just cos DH had gone back to work and DS pooed before during and after every feed. he also pooed in most clean nappies as soon as i got them on. i think his record was 3 in a row before i got him off the change mat...at least i am expecting it this time!

still haven't got on the pc to see more photos and probably chicken out and take mine down!

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 13:17

I hear you Jaggy on the pooing during nappy changes Sad

I'm sure it'll be better when I've moved on to baby wipes as it won't take so sodding long with the nappy off Confused

DH has gone back to work today Sad but ds1 is in nursery (and is getting a bonus day there tomorrow Blush). So I just had to get them both out this morning and then deal with them both for the bedtime but and after ds1 is done at nursery - the test of the time so far has been taken up with ds2 eating, then me sneaking a meal, then him eating again, then me eating etc.....

Might try and squeeze in a bit of ironing for fun, although it's been at least 5 seconds since he ate so I probably don't have long Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/03/2012 13:25

Biscuits, how was the weigh-in? MW M is coming back today but I have forgotten when Blush, and although DH tried to call her it just went straight to voicemail. She was going to weigh Maia but given that MW A weighed her yesterday and the day before then maybe she won't. I can't tell if Bean is more or less yellow - I've spent too much time examining her skin minutely for any change in shade. MW M hasn't seen her since Thursday so hopefully she'll see a difference and it better not be for the worse. We haven't got the appt for the repeat blood tests yet. The hospital was supposed to phone with one and they haven't, and I don't know who to call to chase them. Oooh, they put a copy of the letter to the consultant inside Maia's Baby Record - I can open it and find out the name!

Pomme, sympathies on the sleep front. I cracked with the 3 hour feeds last night. They meant feed would start at say 1am, with waking her, feeding, expressing, nappy changing, burping and finally settling her back to sleep until roughly quarter past 2, then sleeping for maybe 1.5 hours max before the alarm went off again. Anyway, so I cheated after she'd been awake for nearly 2 hours refusing to stop feeding and go to sleep, and set the alarm for 3 hours after she finally fell asleep, and she woke up 20 mins before the alarm of her own accord. 2 hours 40 mins sleep felt like heaven! The expressing is making my nipples feel bruised, and it just takes such a long time. Oh and Scarlet, DH does get grumpy in the middle of the night and says helpful things like "you'll have to do it on your own at some point, you know". Well, I can't change a nappy and express at the same time, and if I try changing the nappy and then expressing she starts wailing and chomping her fingers during the wait, which is counter-productive. I want her to spend her waking hours firmly attached to my boob taking in milk, unless she is having other essential activities performed for her like burping, bathing or bum-cleaning.

Oooh yes, tell us about the weight loss, Purple! As of last Thursday I was 7lb over my pre-pregnancy weight (which was more than a stone over my pre-pregnancy weight with DD1). I want to lose 2 stone minimum and even then I'll still be a little in the overweight BMI.

Maia has developed a nice line in waiting for you to take the nappy off and then extruding yellow slime over the new nappy. Last night she explosive-pooed at DH and shot poop across the carpet with an impressive range. Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 13:37

Still waiting for the mw

DH was changing a nappy the other day and I was sat off to the side at the bottom of the change mat and managed to get a bit of projectile poo on my face - yuk yuk yuk Envy

I also remember DS1 managing to hit the wardrobe door on the opposite side of the room with one of his poos - we're talking probably a 7ft range.....

scarletfingernail · 19/03/2012 14:10

I had completely forgotten about the poo missiles, yuk yuk yuk.

It's a long running joke in my family that I managed to not change a pooey nappy at all for the first 3 weeks of DS's life Grin. If DH or Mum or any other random person come to visit were here I'd manage to get out of it Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 19/03/2012 15:00

Oh...just thinking of how much bf there'll be with two makes me put my fingers in my ears and go la la laaaa. Not to mention the nappies!!

I went in for monitoring for reassurance and am now Syu k waiting for the reg to come- another hour they said :-( . Plus, serious manky chav alert. I know that's not a nice thing to say, but they're not nice...This is the two people opposite me, they are just awful. One had a young child in with her (taken away by the woman's dp when he had a strop), being so good, every time this baby- younger than my dd by miles- whinged, the child was shouted at, and called a fanny, nuisance and puff (by dad). Horrible. The other woman is f'ing and blinding about being here 'in this sh*thole' etc etc. Urgh.

Anyway, hoping everyone feeling ok today, and E putting on weight nicely for biscuits.
