Hello ladies! I can't wait to see how many No Brooking babies arrive during the course of this thread!! Do you realise we have now filled SEVEN threads (and that's just the graduates!) That's 7000 posts and counting!

Let's all get settled in for some serious No Brooking, we have a lot of painless sneeze births to get through over the next couple of weeks!

Loving the new thread Scream and thanks for sorting it out! Smile

Weird to think I might have my baby by the end of this thread.....

Purple think you're right about my Mum's wishful thinking! She was properly disappointed yesterday Hmm. I wonder whether I should point out that she is desperately wishing for me to have a premature baby! Hmm I know I feel like I'm sort of prepared for the idea of the baby arriving early, but not really wishing it if you see what I mean!

Imps7 · 02/03/2012 10:58

Chocka-girl, checking in!

(does anyone else remember that or is it just me?)

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 11:03

OMG, I loved Chock a Block!!

(It was Chock a block right? Blush)

Imps7 · 02/03/2012 11:04

Yes indeed it was Biscuits!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 11:09

Haha maybe we could do one baby per thread? That last one went really fast!

Imps not sure on Chocka-girl but I am distinctly dense atm!

Speaking of all the thread Aubers must have had her baby by now! Seems strange she just disappeared :s

Biscuits I keep saying the baby will come when he is ready... And then I say to him if you leave it too late they will force you out and neither of us will like that! Still 2 weeksish before I need to worry about induction... Hopefully! Also two weeks? I need a lie down that is so soon!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 11:19

Ooooo my new iPhone was just delivered! Surely that's a whole day's worth of distraction right there! Grin

I wonder how Aubers is getting on as well? I think she just had NO IDEA when she set up the rat smacking thread that it would grow into such a committed community! It's funny how these things happen. It's really weird to think back to her very first thread, and how determined I was at ttc back then! I'm kind of glad I didn't know what a pain in the ass pg would be back then!

You might be right about one baby per thread Purple, I think half the last thread was taken up with No Brooking and congratulations for the lovely Pomme and her gorgeous Abbie. So I guess that means this thread will either be yours or Biscuits'!!

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 11:30

Envy of your iPhone Scream

Hey, if we're doing a thread per baby, aren't fishcake and Dream due on consecutive days or something? We'll all need to set aside a day for Internet chatting to keep up that sort of pace!!! Grin

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 11:33

I think Too is having a cs on the 9th which is my edd. So bit of a race!
New toy! You should but the sugarjack bag it has a perfect little phone pocket Wink

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 11:36

In fact Too's CS is just one week today - how exciting!!! SmileSmile

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 11:38

Sure we can do that Biscuits Wink
I think what will happen is we all simultaneously pop at once! Bit like when women who spend loads of time together sync their periods! lol

The bag is lovely one of you lot should treat yourself, it even comes with a good quality memory box for keepsakes and cloth bag, which is a bit random but lurvely!

BartletForAmerica · 02/03/2012 11:46

Just checking in to make sure that there is space for me come the end of my month and my BFP! We are expecting live push by push reports of all the deliveries!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 11:54

Of course Bartlett! Did you want a new bucket reserved? Pomme was decorating them with stickers too.

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 11:57

Bartlet of course there's room for you Smile - and all the other soon to be PSEPPs Smile.

Glad to see you back rat smack wrong but hope your stay on t'other thread is short.

Well naturally I'm hoping the other thread will be totally empty within a month and you'll all be jammed in here Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 11:57

Rat smack wrong should have said rat smacketing. What is wrong with my autocorrect to not know the word smacketing?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 11:59

My NCT teacher keeps trying to make me come up with ways to "customise" the operating theatre (if I manage to get a cs) to make me feel more comfortable. Perhaps I should ask if I can take my phone in so I can give stitch-by-stitch updates on here?! Grin

I love Purple's idea of synchronised births! Hee hee hee! I will now have to check my pretty Pacapod to see if it has a nifty phone pocket like the Sugarjack - I'm sure it said something about phones...

By the way Biscuits, the iPhone I've been using up until now is the 3G, not even the 3GS! So your phone is pretty advanced compared to my normal one!

Yay for Bartlet and her imminent return! With your BFP due at the end of this month does this mean you've already passed Day 1 of your pg? Grin

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 12:08

'customise the operating theatre'? Is she thinking perhaps doing a quick coat of paint and a few familiar pictures on the wall? Grin. I should think stitch by stitch updates should be allowed though - surely? Aren't there basic human rights about being entitled to at least 3G phone reception at all times and things?

I'm very doubtful about the phone reception for me at the hospital Sad. Unless I'm giving birth in the coffee shop bit, which seems to be fine.......

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 12:17

Just to warn you, I won't have any internet at hospital as I am not on a data plan, not really phone people over here! Well DH sort of is, but I really don't feel the love, maybe I just need an iphone? But then I begrudge spending the money on it! I have weird priorities I know. Wink

Scream I think it is good to have a plan for CS so that they; will deliver on to your chest, skin to skin and/or initiating bf can be done if you want to?
If your not feeling up to it I would recommend DH does Skin to skin with the baby as it has wonderful mucous clearing effects which are even more important with a CS baby although important anyway.
Baby needs to be put on a chest (inside a top is fine) and held upright, it is also perfect for regulating their temp, as your chest goes up or down 2 degrees to warm or cool the baby, which is amazing! This also happens to a lesser extent with the men too. Wonderful :)

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 12:31

Purple / Scream my DH had to do the skin to skin because I had to go to theatre. Obv doesn't help with bf Grin but hopefully it helped DS and it was nice for DH too Smile

scarletfingernail · 02/03/2012 12:33

Hellllllllloooooooooooooo thanks for starting the new thread Scream.

How RANK is raspberry leaf tea? Urgh, I started it yesterday but not sure I'll be able to even increase it to 2 cups never mind any more than that.

I've just dragged myself around our local shopping centre, but goodness it was a struggle. I was Christmas shopping in there on my own a week before DS arrived. I've still got 7 weeks left this time and had to give Boots a miss today. I was planning on getting my maternity pads and Lansinoh, will have to go another time. I did manage to buy some enormous granny pants for after the birth.

Musical fantastic that the move seems to be coming along so smoothly. Let's hope you're in that lovely new house very soon.

Popcorn I second getting your BP checked. I also have low blood pressure and was very fainty and dizzy during the first and second trimester. If you can find out for sure that's what's causing you to feel the same at least you'll know. I just had to make sure I was making more effort to eat and drink small amounts more often than I was. It's still pretty low, but I'm managing the symtoms better now so I don't notice it.

Biscuits I'm interested to know what they suggest this afternoon. I still think they might consider induction early due to the fact you've been a couple of times with reduced movements and you've been told it's a large baby...

Scream I'm very jealous of you having a new I-Phone. I recently upgraded my crappy old Flintstone phone to an HTC. I'm reasonably pleased with it, but an I-Phone would have been my first choice if I could have justified the expense.

Looking forward to your BFP confirmation.

Evil not sure about the cravings. I'm another with an UBB and I crave different things every day Grin Sometimes I'm a fruit fiend, other days I want bacon sandwiches and nothing else and some days I nibble on chocolate and sweets all day. When expecting my DS I was mad about apples and jacket potatoes.

I think that mid-end of April there's quite a few of us within days of each other. That'll be an exciting thread.

Can't wait for the next birth now.

jaggythistle · 02/03/2012 12:37

:)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 12:38

Loving the image of Biscuits giving birth in the coffee shop! Hee hee!

Purple I think the main reason I don't really have a birth plan for cs is because to be honest I don't really want any of that stuff. I know there are benefits to skin-to-skin, but like breastfeeding vs bottlefeeding whilst it's optimal it's not essential. Personally I think it sounds really awkward to have your LO lying on your chest while you can't move or see them and there's a surgeon with his hands inside you still! I would rather DH held the baby close to my face, where I can see her properly and I don't have to worry about the risk of rolling off! Neither DH or I is keen on the idea of the baby having skin-to-skin with him! It all looks a bit hairy when the guys do skin-to-skin... Confused

I'm hoping that the entire op will last less than an hour and then we can do lots of lovely skin-to-skin and latching on in the recovery ward. If the baby does have breathing difficulties we wouldn't be able to do skin-to-skin anyway as the docs would take her. If she doesn't have breathing difficulties I'm sure it'll be fine to wait until we're in the recovery ward.

I guess it's linked to the same thing, but I REALLY don't want the baby to be delivered onto my chest! That's something I'll be asking my mw to watch out for and to prevent! I'm squeamish at the best of times and I would love my first view of the baby to be AFTER she's been wiped down (and not when she looks like something from a horror movie!) If they put her on my chest before cleaning her up then I'll have to lie there for the next 45 minutes with blood and gore right under my chin!! I know this doesn't bother most people, and I know a lot of people (like my NCT teacher!) think that it won't bother me on the day, but the fact is that everyone is different and I really don't want that! Personally I think it's worth waiting the extra 60 seconds for DH or the mw to wipe off the baby before they bring her over. (Although DH is as squeamish as me and is quite keen for the mw to do the wiping!)

I'm sure I sound like a heartless cow to some of you, and I don't want you to think I'm not excited about meeting my baby! I am incredibly excited and I'm dying for my first glimpse of what she looks like (and to confirm that she is in fact a girl!) I just hate the blood and gunk that comes with a newborn, and while it is of course perfectly natural there's no reason why it can't be wiped off once the baby is out and has been checked.

Wow, I didn't expect that to be such an essay. Apologies I think I've just inadvertently used this post as a proxy for the conv I want to have with my mw about the birth (but I can't have that conv until I actually get the hospital to agree to a cs!)

Urgh I know re the RLT Scarlet. I was ok with one a day, but am now up to 3 a day and I'm sick of it. Sad

I think either Purple or Pomme mentioned double bagging rather than upping the no of cups but I'm not sure I could stomach that either Confused

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 12:43

Well done to Scarlet for getting round any shops at all! I think lansinoh is (marginally) cheaper on amazon than in boots anyway, and they deliver it free! So you could just grab the pads the next time you head to tescos or sainsburys and skip boots altogether!

Also I KEEP forgetting to say YAY! for Musical's house buying progress! It sounds really promising!!

Grin at Biscuits giving birth in the coffee shop. Don't rule anything out, I heard that the labour ward was full to capacity for the first time a couple of months ago and people were sent off to Birmingham instead Shock Although a long way away, all the closer hospitals were also full Confused

Scream I completely get where you're coming from. I was also a bit unsure about the goryness before I had DS. I probably would have gone along with the skin to skin thing, but as it turned out he needed oxygen and bringing round a bit anyway. By the time he was passed to me 15 minutes or so later he'd been rubbed down and wasn't gunky any more. I was asking if he could have a bath the next day because I thought he was a but whiffy Blush. I'm keener to do skin to skin this time as I do now feel a bit Sad that I didn't have that immediate "it's a boy, here you go" thing, but I guess it all depends on the delivery again.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 12:52

I am a double bagger with RLT, I put it in a bigger cup as not sure if it needs so much water to infuse properly, so have a mug rather than cup, then I let it get cool and knock it back! You can take the capsules though :)

Scream of course it is your choice, but if you don't want this things I would put it in your birth plan. And if the baby is held more upright then it is good for it, the mucous should still drain away, if they are put on their back it doesn't drain and can stay in their nose and sit on their lungs which can cause feeding difficulties the next day bf or bottle. Obviously some babies will always be fine but imo it is a teeny thing that most people don't know about, i.e hold more upright that can make a big difference.

Biscuits I am sure it helped, the one benefit of me having my reaction to the syntometrine is that DH had a lengthy cuddle, he would have had to wait for otherwise. :)
