Hello ladies! I can't wait to see how many No Brooking babies arrive during the course of this thread!! Do you realise we have now filled SEVEN threads (and that's just the graduates!) That's 7000 posts and counting!

Let's all get settled in for some serious No Brooking, we have a lot of painless sneeze births to get through over the next couple of weeks!

Purple - I hope so! I only got to 6 weeks with dd1 with lots of expressing so have never got to the 'easier ' bit and can't really imagine it. I have trouble with pulling tops up as then I can't see what I'm doing with huge boob anymore...

Bf feels like it's going great this time round bar discretion issues - Abbie seems very natural at it and I'm just following her really trying to wake her if she goes too long without feeding due to jaundice. Mw weighing her tomorrow so I guess I'll see how well it's really going then!

I'll also get my second degree tear I refused stitches on checked tomorrow so we'll see how brave or drugged up my decision on that was then too. I had an episiotomy last time which was stitched well and healed fine. If you have a VB and are worried about tearing can one request a cut to lessen tearing risk?

I also second purple's thick socks recommendation, I had some fluffy ones. All the midwives did laugh at them over my TED stockings though. Meanies :)

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 18:33

Pomme - I did have an episiotomy last time (for the forceps) and still had a tear Sad so am nervous about it still.

But hope yours is healing up nicely Pomme and that Abbie is gaining weight nicely with all this super feeding! Smile

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 18:35

Pomme take each day/feed at a time, sounds like you are doing great! Don't worry if Abbie hasn't put on weight it is very normal, especially if you were on a drip, she is more likely to lose weight with this. And good that you are waking her as this will improve your supply, if she is having plenty of pooey nappies then I would say you are on to a winner!

Glad you support my thick sock stance! Don't sound like a complete loon!
Also I think you can request an episiotomy :) If you are comfy down there I am sure it is fine too :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 19:17

The consultant rang earlier, which was a surprise. All he said was that he thinks this will be an extended discussion and he asked if I would be okay coming in for an appt with him. So nothing got discussed really but he's going to call me back on Monday to arrange an appt, which is positive. Also he said that he has read my letter, which I think is also positive. So fingers crossed he does actually call on Monday and he doesn't try to schedule our discussion for in a month's time!

Loving Purple's list, mainly because I already had all that stuff in my bag so I didn't have a panic about having forgotten anything! I'm all about fluffy socks as well!

Yay for Abbie being such a good feeder - I'm sure the scales will show she's doing well, irrespective of whether she's actually gained weight or not.

Big hug for Biscuits as you figure this all out! Remember no matter what you choose you'll have the full force of the No Brookers behind you so you're bound to have a great outcome!

p.s. My new iPhone is now fully configured, and my Mum has gone home. Bored again!!!

OP posts:
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/03/2012 19:31

Good news all round Scream! Except your mum, how was her and your grans stay?

Biscuitsandtea · 02/03/2012 19:33

Oh Scream I'm so glad the consultant has read your letter and called you back. At the very least this shows there is something to discuss. And if he doesn't call on Monday you can chase and presumably his secretary would be able to arrange an appointment for you as a last resort? You can stress the time critical-ness of it too. At least you have his 'go-ahead' for an appointment now.

Hope your new iPhone manages to relieve some of the boredom now your Mum's gone home Smile

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 19:50

Thanks guys, I am really pleased he's read the letter it feels like a good start. I'll wait until Tues and then speak to the secretary to follow up on the appt.

My Mum and Nan were just visiting, they pop round a couple of times a week to stop me going loco! They're so sweet, my Nan brought grapes today! Grin It's great to whinge to my Mum because she's the person I get all my non-fluffy-mummy tendencies from! Yesterday, straight after a particularly vicious kick in the ribs from LO, DH asked me if there was anything I thought I might miss about having the baby inside me after the birth. I just stared at him in disbelief!! (He's obviously been tuning out my constant complaints!) When I repeated his question to my Mum today she just fell about laughing - she totally gets me! Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 02/03/2012 19:53

pomme I'm not sure an episiotomy would help- its still extra damage down there, plus you can tear anyway as biscuits found out... I'm dying to know what you and dh decide biscuits to see just how wet I'm being Hope little Abbie has either gained, stayed the same or not lost much weight tomorrow.

scream good they rang you. The consultant may be able to shed more light on how likely you'd be to have problems with a vb too with your spd. And thank goodness you'll get an appointment and proper discussion. I bet you go in armed to the teeth with why and its agreed no problem after a pros/cons chat.

I wore thick socks in labour last time too, tote type ones (which I chucked after as they were so blood soaked and minging), this has reminded me!!

DreamingOfPeace · 02/03/2012 19:56

scream, a bit of peace/sleep is possibly all you could miss... I will not miss my bump one iota, or worrying about movements, or rib pain, heartburn/reflux or hospital appointments or the exhausted stage I'm at now.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 02/03/2012 20:09

So true Dream, sleep is precious to me so you're right about missing that! Unfortunately consultants know very little about spd, they don't deal with it at all it's just referred to the physios. That's why I've got the letter from my physio attached to the one I sent to the consultant, it explains the scale of the problem and the impact on a vb. So far I've found consultants don't take spd seriously at all, probably because most spd patients are under epidural and can't feel the pain during labour! The consultant also doesn't see the months of rehab spd sufferers go through after a bad birth! Confused

By the way you are NOT being wet by choosing a elcs! You've made a really tough decision, with the best interests of your whole family in mind! Just think, in a few weeks all this stress and worry will be behind you! :)

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 02/03/2012 20:16

Was going to say exactly the same as Scream, Dream - you're not being wet!

Yay for progress with the consultant, Scream - hope he calls on Monday with a nice quick appt in the next few days. I will so not miss the heartburn or the general heavy achiness or the lack of mobility or the worrying!

Gah, why did I say I would make Welsh cakes for DH? It's quarter past 8, ffs. I want to go in the bath and then go to bed. Am procrastinating in the hope he gives up first.

DreamingOfPeace · 02/03/2012 20:45

New bump pic added :-)

I have no idea how to make a Welsh cake too or even what one is

Uh oh then scream enjoy what sleep you can get now then!!

Evilwater · 02/03/2012 20:52

Hello everyone,
Just checking in on the the new thread, sorry I'm not writtimg much. I just feel so tired and sick.

I hope everyone else is feeling great, and any problems are washed away.
Hoping to write a bit more tomorrow

TheLittleFriend · 02/03/2012 21:25

Hi lovely psepp's!

I'm here to wish belated congratulations to Pomme on the arrival of Abigail. I'm so very pleased for you!! I can't believe that I can remember you getting your bfp and now you have your brooking baby Here's to the swift, healthy and timely arrival of the rest of the babies. (and to getting myself back over here asap!) cheers all Wine (non-alcoholic for you lot) Wink xxx

musicalmrs · 02/03/2012 23:27

Evening all! I don't get round to checking MN til late and there are already four new pages.. eek! Lovely shiny new thread Scream :)

Purple - They are moving along indeed! I think 2012 will be a fabulous year for all on this thread though :)

Scarlet and Evil, also UBB (though thinking a boy at the mo!) and also craving lots of different things! Some days I'm dying for something sweet, but on other days it has to be savoury...

farfalla, try to stay positive with the brown and red stuff. I remember precisely how scary it is. I had a lot of bleeding, and had convinced myself several times that it was all over (a scan which showed nothing much didn't help). The HCG levels are a much more reliable indicator of what's going on :)

Biscuits, that sounds like a big scary decision. I think wherever you're offered the choice (Dream too!) it must be so hard to weigh up the various pros and cons. I hope the right decision jumps out at you soon! Spectacular bump by the way - looking wonderful!

Dream, your bump also looks amazing.

Pomme, so glad everything's going wonderful with Abbie! :)

Scream, glad the consultant's called you back! At least you're now in the system ish, if you see what I mean :)

Spent hours reading through house paperwork this evening... took so long! Survey came back with little to be concerned about, although there is wet rot on the back patio doors and frame, meaning they'll need replacing.. costly :(

Getting a lot of rib pain at the moment, and back pain in the evenings. The LO's also suffering from lots of hiccups at the moment - at least three long bouts today. Very glad it's the weekend, though it's filled with visiting people, visits from others, and work - sigh. Hopefully the ridiculous amount of work I've got to do will help the next four weeks fly by... Grin.

Hope everyone's well!

Biscuitsandtea · 03/03/2012 07:55

Musical your house buying is all very exciting. I remember well the oodles and oodles of documentation that you both have to read - very hard work especially at the end of a work day! But glad the survey came back without anything too major. Could you knock a bit off the price to account for replacing the patio doors if it'll be pricey?

Oh and Dream you are most certainly NOT BEING WET!!!! Don't make me come up there and slap you with a wet fish young lady! During my conversation with dh last night, I said that if I was the lady pg with twins (this is how you're known in the biscuit house) I would definitely be getting a CS and DH completely and wholeheartedly agreed that in that circumstance there would be no discussion. If I'm having a hard time trying to decide on only one baby, which seems to be the right way up (even if it might be back to back), then the fact you have two to get out, one of whom may well be breech, or even turn breech during the course of the first being born, that would totally tip the scales for me. 100%. Fact.

I also looked at your new bump pic Dream - it looks amazing and a bit gravity defying!!!!!

Well thank you all for your help yesterday with our dilemma! It was certainly a bit of a curve ball! Still not entirely sure as to what to do, but I suspect, at least if the baby comes soonish, I'll probably try a vb. I had a very useful chat with my MIL - she had an awful birth with DH (worse than mine with DS) and no problem with her second. So that was really useful as I've never heard much about the second birth, just that it was 'easier'. But she could completely understand how hard it was to 'choose'. My mum was a bit helpful about it, But she had two fairly easy births so didn't quite have that understanding.

I still need to talk more to DH and I might see if it's possible to get an appointment on Monday to talk it through otherwise we'll have to wait until my scan appt a week on Monday. If that's the case I might see if I can get a community mw appt in the meantime.

To be fair I guess I'm more keen for a CS as the gestation goes on, as the baby is only going to be getting bigger which must in turn increase my chances of having damage. So if I've had the baby before a week on Monday I'll be less worried about having a CS (unless we look like we're heading for instrumental intervention). If I get to a week on Monday, my scan is supposed to be being done by the consultant herself so at least I'll get to talk directly to her.

I think one of my concerns is that DS was 'only' 8lb 3oz, which is of course a decent size (especially at 37 weeks) but not huge. If this one is later or gets to term, I'm guessing it's likely to be more like 9 or 10 lb, like DS would have been if he'd gone to term. So the later I go, I could have to get out a much bigger baby than last time Confused. This is the one thing that I can see makes me different to my MIL as DH was 9-10lb, so for her second they had booked her in for an induction (although she'd gone into labour naturally on the same day) and my BIL was a little bigger but not too much. I'm a bit freaked out conscious of the effect of any extra cooking time!

Anyway, again that was more of a brain dump to order my thoughts than anything else, so sorry about that Blush.

I just wish someone could tell me when it's all going to happen!!!! Gah! Confused

pommedechocolat · 03/03/2012 09:26

biscuits and dream - lovely big bumps all round!

biscuits - My mum had an awful birth with me (like you and your MIL her birth makes mine with dd1 look like a breeze). She has scars that go down her legs and often when she goes for a smear the nurse will get people in to see them..! Second birth was all absolutely fine (although her birth plan was basically epidural and episiotomy!) hence the q about cuts. We were both 9lbs babies as well. It's just such a dilemma as you can hear a million stories from other people but you still don't really know how your labour will be.

Has a mw done a weight estimate on dc2? Growth scans imo now are totally, totally inaccurate after being told how small dd2 was going to be all the way through this pg. The only one that got near was an older mw who said that Abbie would be a bit bigger than dd1. Indeed at 7lbs 11oz she was 4ozs bigger than dd1!

pommedechocolat · 03/03/2012 09:30

little - lovely to hear from you and thank you do much for thinking of us! Glad you're doing well and hope to see you back here (and then on the post natal thread we will need!) very soon. Xx

Biscuitsandtea · 03/03/2012 09:32

Pomme Shock at your mun having scars down her legs! Shock. Poor woman Sad.

At my last growth scan they estimated 6lb 14, and that was at 35 weeks I think. I know they're not terribly accurate (understatement), but I would guess that this would put this one on a par with DS, so then it's just a matter of how much more cooking time it gets!

Wants3 · 03/03/2012 10:03

Morning! Looks like china is on although date not set yet. I am sure with all the no brooking on here everyone's various dilemmas will just sort themselves out! I am actually enjoying my bump ATM but then I haven't suffered heartburn or rib pain and I am only 29 weeks. Look out for my whinges when I get closer to the end:)
I am getting a cot bed tomorrow, m&p with Millie and boris cot bedding and White company bed set for £200. It is in immaculate with a new mattress so I think I have got a bargain.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/03/2012 11:06

Oooo Wants which M&P cotbed did you get? I've just bought the Prairie cotbed (although they sent the wrong headboard so we're waiting for the replacement to be delivered before we can set it up properly.) I love the Millie & Boris bedding! We ended up choosing the Once Upon a Time bedding, but it was a toss up between the two! DH nearly cried when he saw the cost of the bedding, but thanks to Purple and her Mothercare code I had stored up lots of thrifty brownie points by buying cheaper stuff for the essentials, and therefore DH conceded that I was entitled to buy a few overpriced items! Grin

Dream I forgot to mention last night how very impressive your bump is! It's simultaneously tiny and compact (at the sides) and HUGE at the front! It's truly the neatest bump ever! Nice work growing such good size boys and fitting them into your tidy bump!

Biscuits I'm glad you've been having helpful chats. Are you any closer to a decision?

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/03/2012 11:37

Morning, people!

Wants, good work with the bargain hunting! Sounds great.

Pomme, your mother has scars down her legs?? I didn't know that was even a possibility! Shock

Biscuits, if you are happy to try a VB if the baby comes early, then that simplifies matters. I suppose what you can do is book the section for 39 weeks or so and then opt for trial of labour if LO comes before then. Maybe little Crumb will make his or her appearance in the next week and solve your dilemma for you. Smile

Musical, I like Biscuits' suggestion that you knock some money off to allow for the buyer to fix the wet rot. That way you don't have to do it yourselves! How much would it cost to fix? If I was buying a property, I would prefer to pick my own new patio doors than have the previous owner do it, so long as I got some money off.

Hi Evilwater - I don't think I remembered to say hi before, so congratulations on your BFP and welcome! Poor you feeling sick - hope it passes off soon.

Dream, your bump is amazing! I didn't have to make Welsh cakes in the end by promising to make them today instead. DH says he will be pampering me post-section, so I have to pamper him a bit now. Hmm

NinjaChipmunk · 03/03/2012 12:43

morning, just marking my place, will post more tonight. farfalla so gald to hear hcg levels going up so well. And biscuits good luck with the decision making. scream sounds like the consultant is on the ball, hope the appt comes through qickly.
Can't remember anything else, dp gave me a lovely long lie in after I was awake for one reason after another roughly every 2 hours last night and has now taken ds swimming. He's off out this afternoon though and won't be back till the wee hours so me and ds will go shopping and pick a treat dionner and some sweeties to share tonight. I think also ds can sleep with me and dp can sleep in ds's room so we all get a reasonable nights kip (esp after his 5am hometime last time he went out)
off for a lovely long shower I think and some pottering about before they come home. The sun is out yet again, yay!

musicalmrs · 03/03/2012 13:19

Thanks Biscuits and Too for the patio door suggestions! We've emailed our advisor (mainly because she's too busy so we can't just pop in and see her!) about how we move forward. We'd be happy either to knock a bit off of the price of the property, or to do it another way - to either have the vendor or ourselves get quotes for a like for like replacement, and then they cough up the money without us having to commit for the quote. We'd like to go for better quality ones than those that are there already.. it's just working out how to organise that logistically! It'd be better if we could have the money up front rather than just off of the mortgage value though, purely because it means we'd have the cash there to buy the new ones, which would have to be done this summer!

The other 'major' things they brought up were that they couldn't test the boiler (we realised it's a little old when we looked around, and so budgeted that in to our costings), and that there's a bit of dodgy wiring in the roof space - which should be relatively easily sorted out.

Pomme, your mum had scars down her legs? Yikes, how horrible :(

Wants, lucky with the heartburn! I didn't suffer it until a few weeks ago... and then it disappeared for a bit, but has recently returned with a vengeance. Only started getting lots of rib pain this week! Despite both of those I'm still enjoying the bump and being pregnant.. for now!

The bed swapping definitely sounds sensible Ninja!

Someone may have posted about this already.. but have you seen that Emma the quad mum has had her babies? They look so sweet!
